Friendly and accessible bar. Great staff, quality real ale and delicious food. I was served by Jenny and Jane in the restaurant and very pleasant staff at the bar. The gaffer is a great character and it was a pleasure to visit. Everything is spotlessy clean and the atmosphere is lovely. Made my holiday.

We were recommended to dine here. I’m glad we were, as I wouldn’t have called in otherwise. I had the lamb shank, very nice and beautifully tender. Fantastic service and family friendly.

Tried to get an evening meal after arriving late into the area.....they stop serving at 8.30pm....this is in a time warp to say the least. So two nights later we went with the family who were out with us for a meal...so we ordered a number of various meals after waiting a considerable time for the order to be taken....by the cook in his dirty looking shorts and short fat hairy legs...how unappealing that is . Food starts to arrive and gets plonked down in front of us...lady then bring handful of cutlery and slams it down in middle of table.....Fish order with Fish & chips was frozen...how odd when we are at the coast you would expect fresh fish...all meals lacked presentation...I do accept this is a pub food outlet but at least put a little effort into it...BUT it filled a hole... The eatery part of the pub is separate to the drink side...so,...be aware......that is another review I guess....Will we be back.... Sorry to say No, never ever. Totally put off by hairy legs & shorts were food is being served......

My wife & I called into this restaurant for dinner with our grandson. We all enjoyed our meals & were impressed with the pleasant, cheerful, waitresses. We'll be eating there again.

Located on the High Street with parking to the rear. The restaurant opens at 6pm in the evening, we called in about 10 mins past 6 and there was several people already there. However we were approached quickly and handed a menu. It wasn't long before we gave in our order and were told to be patient as she was working on her own! It wasn't long though until our delicious meals arrived, cottage pie (using proper mash!) and veg, lasagne with side salad, chips and garlic bread. The portions were a good size. If you want drinks they are purchased separately at the Railway Inn bar adjacent to the restaurant. We would definately visit here again should we be in Borth

Visited here bank holiday weekend having been told food is nice. Not a huge menu with prices from about £9 to £17. Restaurant is basic but food was very well cooked, potions large and staff very helpful. I had the best gammon steak that I have had in many years. My husband had a rather large mixed grill again all cooked to perfection. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try

We liked that you could have a drink in the bar then go into what would be the lounge and have a meal . Plenty of choice and choice for children's meals .

The food here is excellent and really hearty pub grub, generous servings and family friendly. The people serving however seem to despise you. Something we've found on a regular basis in Wales. The young lad waiting tables was outstanding, really friendly and made an effort. The young woman serving tables and lady behind the bar however were less than welcoming. With limited choices in borth this is a safe bet but don't expect service with a smile!

Never mind the food - there are three other essential ingredients for a meal at a restaurant: a friendly welcome; an enjoyable ambience; and attentive staff whose aim is to enhance the evening and who clearly enjoy their work. Sadly Von's fails on all three. Admittedly on the night we visited this week things were busy - but restaurants want that, don't they? Our hosts simply couldn't be bothered to smile (or to welcome us, or to inquire whether we wanted of anything). We were sat next to a doorway, and there was an almighty draught. But as soon as we closed the door (and yes we could/should have asked) one of the waitresses immediately stomped over to open it again. Later she kindly explained: the door had to remain open because they were busy (!) and there was a draught because of the blowers in the kitchen, where it was steamy. We were glared at once or twice after the door incident - and our service deteriorated (such that this was possible). So to the food: a large range on the menu of mostly fried food. Pleasant enough, and 'cooked' fresh, although I'd wager some meals are from the freezer and others are microwaved. But tasty enough and well priced. Von's is in a good location close to Borth seafront. A smile or two would go a long way to keeping the customers coming back.

Von's is situated in the Railway Inn, but run as a separate business - you buy your drinks in the pub and then walk through to the restaurant. Hence no table service if you want another drink during your meal. The young lady who served in the restaurant was pleasant and efficient and the food reasonable "Pub Grub". We had lasagne which had definitely been home made and was served as a large very tasty portion

Absolute rubbish. Food was cold, the owner was rude, the waiting staff were atrocious. Our food was sent back and we did receive hot food but we all ended up being ill. Very expensive too.

We took a weeks holiday on the beautiful Welsh coast in Borth with our grandchildren and visited the Railway Inn Borth just to buy some drinks , the popularity of the place told me the restaurant was good. For three nights we ate there three different meals, same lovely pleasant service from the waitress every night, the same table was reserved for us every night and the food was some of the best home made fayre i have tasted, especially the gooseberry pie with cream.Vons is a must if your staying anywhere near Borth but book in advance as it is very popular.Thank you to all the staff at Von,s for looking after us so well.

We've been on several occasions for sunday lunch and you can help yourself to as much as you want - everything is home cooked and all fresh, just like your mum would make. Service was good and very efficient and staff are friendly and curtious. Will continue to go there.

Wide menu, but I don't think anything was actually homemade. I asked about the ingredients in one dish and she wasn't able to tell me. Then my soup had a label in it, "from the packet." Fortunately knocked off the bill. Atmosphere was ok and the was quite tasty and we were glad to get a table somewhere on a Saturday night. The adjacent pub looked lively.

Spent last week in Borth, had a really nice time ,especially having the best grandson in the world with us.Went to Vons restaurant on Thursday.Although it is situated in the premises of the Railway Pub it is run as a separate business. The 3 adult meals were excellent, and our 2yr old grandson wolfed his pasta meal down with approval,We got in there just after 6pm,and it was not long before the restaurant got pretty full.Everybody near to us gave there meals the seal of approval as well.Next time in Borth ,Vons, will be visited again.

Quite simply the worst food in living memory. Paid £28 pound for a mixed grill and they forgot the steak and the egg, also no steak knife. Had to eat it as I hadn’t eaten all day.

Went there for Sunday carvery, what a great spread. There is all the variety would expect and all were cooked to an excellent standard. It is possible to go back for seconds should you wish. Great value as well for 2 or 3 courses (3 would be too much for most) On top of this the view is spectacular and the service is professional. Will be returning.
