Doesn't look much from the car park. Go through the arch to the beer garden, it's like the wardrobe to Narnia. Open fronted glamping pod, table in a boat, an unbelievable Hobbit house, fully furnished, with books in a bookcase. Go down the steps to the garden terrace overlooking the bay. Comfy and sheltered seating, with stunning views. Is dog friendly too. The beer is no worse a price than tourist places. And is a decent pint. Ignore the naysayers. It's a very pleasant place for relaxing with a drink. We will be returning.

We've visited this pub a number of times whilst on holiday here in Anglesey. The terraced gardens have been well thought out and are really comfy and cosy, having separate areas for people to settle in. The views from these gardens are beautiful over Church Bay. The choice of drinks is also better than any other we've had on the island.

The best pub I have ever visited with beautiful views and a garden to suit. We played Cluedo (our own game) with our two young children in an open fronted style glamping pod in the garden facing the sea. As it was dark the romance of the place came alive with the garden lighting and lights in the distance of Holy Head across the sea. We stayed overnight in the car park in our motorhome which was peaceful (£10 charge) and woke to the amazing view once again. We look forward to coming back.

Living just a 15 minute walk away from The Church Bay Inn, it is my local pub and a place I have visited often during my time in the area. On previous visits I have found it a pleasant environment, despite slightly lacking in atmosphere. During my latest visit to the pub, I was surprised by how quiet we found the establishment to be during mid August - a potential reason for this, we discovered later. This reason being the price of our drinks. 2 pints, a lager and a guinness, cost us nearly £12 (£11.60). While I am compassionate surrounding the raising prices as a result of the cost of living issue, I have yet to encounter prices of that degree. Having paid for the over priced pints, we moved on to the games room after sitting in the main area and taking in the fantastic setting of the pub. Once in the games room, we attempted to pay for the pool table, and came to the realisation that the mechanism was broken and therefore we couldn’t. The inside of the pool table was loose and hanging out and therefore we assumed, with no signage to tell us otherwise, that we were to use the pool regardless. The owner of the pub came in minutes later with an accusatory tone telling us we had to pay 50p for the pool table and it wasn’t free. My boyfriend and I have zero issue with this and were happy to pay the amount. Still, the barmaid continued then to lecture on the fact that she had to pay for the lights to be on due to our presence, she did this rather unkindly. Again, we had no issue with paying, and immediately paid over the amount. After the conversation, the barmaid moved over to the other side of the bar to which she talked with some other customers about us ‘trying to get free games’ out of the machine and continued to talk on our behalf negatively and unflatteringly. It was then we decided we would skip paying for another £12 round, and instead finish the game and head off. To complain about having to pay for the electric because your customers (who have just paid for extortionately priced drinks) are using your facilities was perhaps not the wisest of actions. It’s a beautiful pub, in an amazing area and I find it a shame that customer service lets it down so greatly.

Wow, what a transformation from a dark and dingy bar to a very tastefully refurbished space. The outside seating areas were fabulous with stunnning views, and an excellent selection of beers. The place was very busy and the landlady was running the bar and waiting on tables 8n a pleasant manner. Toilets were modern and spotlessly clean. After a mental summer working shows tours and events Mrs Toke and I decided to escape to Anglesey to decompress. We visited our friends who live in Amlwch (pronounced Amluck). We went to visit the only working windmill in Anglesey and it was closed. We then went to Church Bay to the Church Bay Inn, it's ace. The landlady was friendly and our Lurcher Benson was welcomed with us. A great choice of beers and ciders and mahoosive South facing windows looking out at Hollyhead bay. The sun garden is just as lush but the wind was strong today so we only went outside for a tab then back inside the lovely warm scenic lounge bar. We then went down to Church Bay to see the sea, a lovely day and a great sundowner bar.

We stayed for 1 night in September and loved it. The room was beautifully decorated with lots of nice little touches - proper coffee machine, magazines, comfortable chairs overlooking the amazing sea view, fab shower/towels/toiletries etc. All very welcome after a long day walking. Sat outside for a drink and then were invited to join the locals for the quiz in the evening. Great nights sleep followed by a good breakfast. The owner has obviously worked hard to get this place looking so nice. Hope she gets the restaurant up and running soon but well worth a stay or even just a visit for a drink. Definitely one of our favourite stays on Anglesey and hope to go back one day.

We were staying at the site at the bottom of the hill, so had walked up it..(gasp..) to grab a couple of drinks and enjoy the reputed magnificent views across the bay and sunset. Its position is enviable! Perched imposingly high it has incredible perspective and viewpoint...And thats the issue really..this COULD be such an amazing pub and resturant if only investment was made to refurbish it. I have to be honest however and say that the furnishings and presentation is one of neglect and tiredness. it just looked totally worn out.We were told before we visited (I phoned first as their opening times are erratic and seem open to guesswork) that they were not doing food at the moment. One can only guess at the loss of custom were this place to serve good quality as is seen at the nearby Lobster Pot. Its a goldmine in the making with the right investment. The lady behind the bar was friendly and polite enough to be fair- and served me a really nice pint of well kept bitter. I was surprised at the number of people in the small bar so early in the evening such that no comfortable seating was available so took my drink to the patio to enjoy those views. The wind had kicked up though and it was so cool getting that I decided not to remain for further drinks. There was nothing obviously awful about this place dont get me wrong...its just that it didnt have that intangible "feel" that sometimes you experience when going in a new pub and and that makes you want to stay. Maybe a visit in the future will see it in a refurbished state and in happier times?

It may look lovely from pictures but this place needs a serious referb and ALOT of attention. My partner, family and I visit Church Bay ALOT and always said we'd love to pop in for a drink at some point but never had the time. This week my partner and I paid a visit. We were greeted by a run down place, paint coming off on the outside, junk dumped to the right of the house, personal washing out, wasps EVERYWHERE, dirty windows and mismatched furniature. But that didnt put us off. My partner went to order us some drinks whilst i stayed outside with the dogs. Whilst ordering drinks she asked if we could plug our phones in and leave them there whilst we were outside (she only asked out of politeness as the plugs are there free to use for people sat inside... she didnt expect her to watch them or anything) the lady was very abrupt and rude to her and snapped *one?* she said *no two* she said *FINE FOR HALF AN HOUR ONLY* before my partner could say... we are happy to pay she snapped again *HALF AN HOUR ONLY OK!?!*. She then ordered our drinks and my glass was so dirty it completely put me off. It just made the stay awkward so when the half an hour came we just wanted to get out. We looked through the dirty windows and from what we could see the rooms werent much good either. Id recommend travelling to the lovely irish pub just across from the premier. They were lovely and we charged our phones and didn't want to leave to ended up having a bit of lunch and a couple more drinks there... maybe they need a bit of customer service tips from them and they might earn a bit more money from people! If it wasnt for what seemed like a wasp nest around the place the views are lovely.

Every week day about 5pm, a handful of local men come in for a pint or two with the lads before they head home. They sit by the roaring coal fire and joke and laugh together in Welsh. When they arrive, they say hello to the entire pub and when they leave it’s the same, even if they don’t know you. The woman behind the bar is friendly and if you come back more than once, she remembers your drink.

We huddled by the fire to dry off as our clothes were soaking wet, when a local began to be very rude about us blocking, instead of the landlady politely asking us to move (which we would of done if we had been asked) she joined in and said "can you move, there are other people that want to get the heat from the fire" Which we found to be rather rude and made us feel very unwelcome. Whilst staying near Moelfre we decided on a day out in Church Bay after hearing what a lovely place it was. It's true, it's a beautiful setting in a remote and wild area.It was late in the day when we arrived so after what was only a quick look round we thought we would have something to eat in the local pub. After entering it was obvious they weren't doing food but decided we would have a drink anyway. We were not too disappointed as we could get something elsewhere later but as tourists we were disappointed by the way we were treated by the locals. We were not made to feel welcome at all. There were only three or four other customers in the pub, it was so quiet, but they were obviously locals. Despite smiling and nodding at a man at the bar l was glared at and revieved no response. No acknowledgement either from the others, just stares in our direction and mutters between themselves. We took our drinks outside and left them to it.Like many other establishments on Anglesey (many closed down) this pub seems to be struggling for custom but if this is the way they treat tourists it's not surprising. If this pub closes down there won't be much left in Church Bay and nowhere for the locals to socialise. Such a shame.l have to say though the barmaid was very pleasant and went out of her way to speak to us when she came outside for glasses.

We were staying locally and looking for places to eat in the evenings. Having been to Church Bay during the day (which is a beautiful spot) and spotted the pub we thought it would be nice for an evening meal.On closer inspection first impressions are not good, we weren't even sure it was open as it looked so shabby but we ventured inside. You have to go down stairs to the main bar area which was small and dated. We could have lived with all of this if they were doing food but unfortunately they weren't. I don't know whether we were unlucky or whether they just don't do it - either way, be aware of this before making a longer trip, as we did.Having taken note of the previous review, I would say that stunning views are no guarantee of good food! We discovered this to our cost! This place could really be something special and it seems to me at the moment like an opportunity lost.
