3 off us had dinner. My partners sister had lamb shank which she said was nice. I had belly pork and to tell truth it was uneatable as the pork was nearly raw the so called potatoes were cold with no seasoning and the ju well less said only good part was crackling nothing like the picture. My partner had chicken kieve which was dry and over cooked and and as for the ceaser salad (apologise for next) but it was like something a dog had regurgitated not nice at all. I complained to waiter who spoke to chef who said 'give them %10 off. Thinking back I shouldn't have paid but as we were there for my partners sisters funeral I didn't want to put anymore stress on her so just left it. We were talking to some family members and they said the same thing but sadly they didn't complain so will be giving this place a wide berth next time. O yea 10 of us went to The Cross Foxes pub the following night which cost over £300 but well worth a visit

Avoid this restaurant worst food i've ever experienced, stayed at the hotel for two nights due to attending a funeral at the hotel so obviously on checking in we wanted to eat dinner. I ordered Chicken Kiev with Caesar salad & fries my partner had Belly Pork both were inedible complained and was offered 10% off the bill. Breakfast wasn't much better very disappointing as hotel & staff were very nice. We ate out on our second night really don't know how this place gets 4*

Visited today for the Sunday carvery. £18.95 for 3 courses. You can't get better value than that. We rang to check availability and they advised we'd be ok as they were only half full with bookings. It was the first Sunday in January though so in future I'd definitely book to be on the safe side. It started filling up while we were there, and a lot seemed to know each other and the staff so it appears to be popular with regular visitors. And I'm not really surprised. Staff were lovely. Turkey, beef and gammon were the meats on offer today and we had a bit of each. They did not scrimp! We left stuffed and happy. What more could you want?

Our room was very large as we think it was a disable room. It was clean and tidy and well equipped with bathroom essentials. The mini bar was empty so obviously not an option even though it states there is one! Both bedside lampshades cracked and dented. We paid for breakfast and was really looking forward to it! However when we went to the self service counter I was not happy to see how unkept the servery was. There were a couple of cooked fried eggs only on a tray that had clearly been there quite a while. The yolks had even come away from the white! The bacon was sitting in fat and the fried bread was not replenished. Although I waited for a member of staff to enquire about fresh food no one showed. A shame as the general areas of the hotel including the bars and function room were very good and the bar staff were hard working.

Went for lunch with friends. Buffet is supposedly open from 12 noon until 2:00pm but at just after 1:30pm all that was left on the hot buffet were a few remnants. Beef bourguignon was predominantly carrot and mushroom with little meat in evidence, rice had dried out, and chips were shrivelled and inedible. Service was shocking - had to ask four times for drinks and waited over half an hour for them to be brought to the table and it wasn't as though they were busy. Absoultely awful - never again!

Went for a Sunday breakfast. Staff were lovely, restaurant was quiet and clean but the food was patchy. Bread, pastries and egg were nice, reasonable selection of cereal, fruits and yoghurts but the sausages and bacon were hugely overcooked - bacon couldn’t be cut. It wasn’t horrific, nothing to merit complaining but did reduce the value for money a little.

We decided to book lunch at this hotel restaurant based on the offer they were advertising, which was 3 courses for £10. We were genuinely not expecting that much however it turned out great value. There was a choice of 3 or 4 starters, 4 main courses and 3 desserts. We both chose pate to start, then my wife had cod loin in batter with chunky chips and mushy peas, I had cajun chicken and chips, both then had Black Forest gateaux. All the food was served at the table by a lovely waitress Lynsey who was attentive but not over. Would highly recommend.

I stay here when I am attending university so in the last year I have been here several times. I always eat in the restaurant as I arrive quite late and we are always in a party of 4 or 5 people. We stay midweek so the restaurant is almost always empty. I have eaten several items from the menu and each time have been very disappointed. Steak - I have had this twice and asked for it to be cooked medium rare, and both occasions it was well done. Steak got sent back and it came out well done again. Glamorgan sausages - these came out cremated and were way over cooked Waffles and ice-cream - Waffles were still frozen and not cooked. I ate there last week and had: Meat pizza - Ordered this as I thought it was the safe option. Dough was still in pastry form and the pizza was way undercooked. Shredded Duck - this was deep fried and the duck was hardened into a ball, not shredded. Again very sickly and in no way tasty. My colleagues who all eat with me have also had the same experiences and it is clear that the food is not made fresh and most of it is heated from frozen. For example the Katsue Chicken was made with frozen chicken nuggets. If your going to serve frozen food then at least don't charge restaurant prices. Breakfast is not much better, served cold tea and luke warm coffee. cooked food again luke warm and not very tasty. It appears to me that the chef or staff responsible for cooking are just not very good, cooking a pizza and making sure it is evenly cooked is very simple as is cooking steaks to a specified liking. I feel this review is warranted after 5 visits as clearly improvements are not being made.

I've eaten enjoyable bar food here many times, but this was a first time for lunch in Zara's restaurant. Sunday lunch was a very good carvery - there was an excellent choice of roast meats and a very generous service of your choice. Vegetables were plentiful and not overcooked, with the usual sauces and gravy. There was also a full and appetising salad bar for those wanting a cold meal. Desserts were adequate with a choice of two gateaux, fruit salad and cream. Table service and staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly, Good value for a hearty traditional Sunday lunch.

We visited with work for the second time. Last year I was kept waiting for half an hour for my veggie meal and everyone else had finished. This year I arrived 20 minutes early and ordered mine but it was still well over half an hour for me to wait and yet again my vegetables had gone cold and everyone else had eaten. The other thing I didn’t like was the only choice of vegetarian meal which was ratatouille and goats cheese spring roll. I don’t like goats cheese and the roll had gone soggy in the bowl of wet ratatouille. As a vegetarian I like to eat with everyone else but it was a disappointing separate meal that didn’t go with turkey trimmings. Why can’t they do but roast or a mushroom wellington with vegetarian gravy? I was very disappointed and won’t be returning for the third year in a row.

Absolutely awful dining experience. Shocking standard of food with leathery reheated roast potatoes, undercooked pig in blanket, (yes one pig in blanket), one new potato well passed it's best, complete with green shoots sprouting. The service was ridiculously bad with members of the party waiting for meals, no cutlery for the smaller members, (it was suggested that the three year old could eat her meal with a teaspoon!). All staff disappeared for over 20 minutes leaving us waiting on dessert. Not once was any member of the party asked if they required drinks and had to trudge the length of the room to reach the one bar still open, (that was invariably unmanned.).Miserable staff and average frozen " value " desserts completed the experience. A party of 13 at £60 a head will explain why we were forced to accept a 25% refund whilst other parties were offered up to 50%., (and this took until mid March to complete.).Overall an absolutely abysmal experience. Do yourselves a favour and book somewhere else, - anywhere at all!

Visited the restaurant at the beginning of October when I stayed at the hotel with work. The hotel is a little isolated so I guess a lot of people would eat here for convenience although the restaurant was not too busy when we ate. This was my second visit in 3 months. Staff and service both reasonable - not as friendly as on my first visit. The restaurant and surroundings are both relaxed and comfortable. The evening meal was just a reasonable standard for an hotel of this quality. It started with a rock hard bread roll and was followed by an average quality mixed grill although the accompanying hand cooked chips were very good. Most off putting was the fact that the plate on which the mixed grill arrived had greasy fingerprints all around the rim. We did not have a starter or dessert as the main course was was enough on its own even if a little over priced. I have had better quality and cheaper meals in pubs. Now to the breakfast. A serve yourself buffet style breakfast with a choice of fruit, cereals, bread, juices etc.to start. Then an average quality cooked breakfast to follow.I decided to have some grapefruit segments to start but had to pick up 3 different cereal bowls before I found one that didn't have dried cereal glued to the side due to lack of washing properly. Not a good start. The cooked breakfast had a choice of eggs - the fried variety were over cooked and rubbery. Hash browns were just warm, mushrooms were tasteless as they had been boiled, the sausages weren't the best and the bacon wasn't the best quality either and it was very salty.Overall, food was adequate for a hotel of this standard. Restaurant over priced and quality of food & cleanliness should be better.

Myself and my partner visited the restaurant for a nice meal. I expected it to be high class food due to the price of the menu. The staff were very plesent but felt the waiting time for our drinks was a little slow due to it being very quiet when we were there. I would of been quicker ordering myself. Drinks very pricey, obviously understand it is a hotel but we are still in Wrexham! I would expect to pay this in Chester/Manchester, but not here. We ordered the food which sounded lovely on the menu. The prawn starters were nice but nothing to write home about. Our mains were very poor. Tasteless and extremely over priced. Again, city prices but without the quality. I had pork which was bland and came with what looked like baby purified carrot on top of some mash. And a slice of apple??? My partner had posh fish and chips. Not sure what was posh about it. He said the chips were very greecy and not nice and the fish was once again tasteless. Our waiter was very nice and would not blame It on him but we would not return to the restaurant. Maybe management should think about changing the menu and produce to higher standards and to be more affordable. We often eat at the hollybush and the food there is fresh and very substantial for the price. I wish we would of gone there on this night too.

We had family coming down to visit so we decided to treat them at the restaurant at the Ramada. We heard the food was good and we were excited to give it a go!Upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by the girl on reception who was very helpful when directing us where to go. She advised us to go to the bar for a drink whilst she went to find the waiter from the restaurant. We went to sit in the bar and we were greeted immediately by the barman (Martin). He brought over some wine lists to look over and recommended the Wrexham Lager to our family from down south. Brilliant start to the night! After having a few sips of our drinks, we decided to head to the restaurant for some food. We walked past reception to the desk at the front of the restaurant - this is where the whole experience went from bad to worse. We stood holding our coats and drinks for a good couple of minutes waiting to be seated. Once the girl on reception had finished checking someone in, we asked if the restaurant was still open - it was 8.20pm! She apologized and looked embarrassed whilst ringing someone to come and attend. When the manager (Steven) came from the back of the restaurant, we had this overwhelming odor of cigarette smoke hit us in the face as he approached us - not very appetizing. He didn't apologize for making us wait and looked rather annoyed that we hadn't booked - at this point there was 3 other tables in the restaurant, hardly busy!! We spotted a table we liked near the window, but he said that was set up for breakfast!? So we had to sit in the middle of the restaurant feeling rather uncomfortable. When we sat down we were given menus to look over. We were not talked through the menu i.e. soup of the day, specials on offer, any items unavailable so we had to wait for him to make an appearance again to ask these questions. When he reappeared, he informed us the soup was tomato and asked if we were ready to order. We asked if he had any recommendations, and he said he didn't know. We asked what sweet white wines he would recommend with our meal and he suggested we looked at the wine list - well we have looked at the wine list in the bar, we were simply asking for a bit of communication and recommendations from him. He kept looking at his watch and was keen to get our orders placed as soon as possible. We were not disappointed when it came to the quality of food. Between us, we had a selection of starters followed by fillet steak, rib eye steak, mixed grill and grilled salmon (very nice!). Price of the food was a little high for the Wrexham area, I guess that's why there were only a couple of tables in the restaurant when we were there...After receiving our starters, we seemed to be the center of attention for the manager, as he stared at our table for the duration of our first dish. Upon my mother-in-law putting her soup spoon down, the manager (who hasn't got the softest of voices) told his colleague to clear the table and "get the mains out now" whilst he then went to the bar and stood watching the tv for a couple of minutes.Upon delivery of our mains the waiter (joe) asked if we would like any more drinks, to which we obliged and gave our order. Unfortunately, as he got near our table with the drinks on the tray he was quite rudely (and very much wrongly) told off by the manager. We couldn't see why....When we had finished our mains, we were not offered dessert menus, but instead just given the bill. We were not overly bothered about this as we were stuffed from the gorgeous meal. We carried on drinking our drinks and engaged in conversation. Then the unthinkable happened - it was around 10.20pm, we were in the restaurant with one other table and the manager shouted "right ladies and gents, everyone out. we are shutting now". I would expect this type of dialogue in a town pub or macdonalds but not in a restaurant within a 4* hotel, after paying around £45 per person for the meals and drinks. He then turned off the lights in the restaurant, so we were left in complete darkness!!!!!! As we walked towards the bar area, glanced at the staff behind the reception desk and you could see they themselves were cringing at what had just happened, and I think they were preparing themselves for a few words from us - we left the complaint to the other table. We feel its better aired on here, as to warn fellow paying customers of the absolutely shambolic customer service received in the restaurant. If you do go here, I think you will enjoy the food - but please be prepared to face some rather rude and abrupt service from the so-called manager.

Over all wonderful stay clean warm friendly , only complaint is the food was poor for the type of establishment, more pub than restaurant, which is a shame.Staff are great well done.

Stayed at hotel as had a function there.rooms spacious and ample supplies.easy signage etc. Our mini bar wasnt working but other rooms were. Only moan is we had 3 ppl staying in room and only had 2 cups for hot drinks.drinks not to expensive at bar Food was ok. Some people in our group had better/worse food but covering 130 meals you cant please everyone.Did feel rushed at breaky. Waitress literally took plate just as lay the cutlery down. Wasnt a que of waiting to sit so wasnt the reason.overall staff polite etc.had a consession on price so was good deal . However not sure i would pay £135 normally.

I had heard good reports about the lunchtime buffet here so booked for four of us for a half one start. The cost is only £7.50 per head for a three course meal and, as the hotel is close to home and smartly kitted out, I thought this was a no-brainer.I had forgotten the Golden Rule for an "Eat all you Like" buffet. Never go near the end of the offer time. To some people "Eat all you Like" seems to equate to "stuff yourself with everything on offer lest the world ends tomorrow". We booked for one thirty and, while the fare on offer was not the post-apocalyptic shambles I have witnessed at some of these locations towards the end,the choices were diminishing almost as rapidly as they were cooling. We must have annoyed the staff just a tad with our constant requests for "more plates", "more fruit salad", "more potatoes" and so on. But, they weren't there and they should have been so that's something they need to look at.The food, though cooling, was excellent. My starter was fine, given that I chose stuff that would be nigh on impossible to destroy, namely a quiche with hard boiled egg and salad. For the main course, I did not help myself by throwing the fish in cream sauce onto my plate with the beouf bourguignone because I thought it was cauliflower cheese but a judicious barrier of rice (cold and drying) made the dish edible with the beef being by far the better half. It was tasty enough, a little chewy in parts but not over-salted or otherwise amended as I have had at times. In the temporary absence of the fruit salad I chose the fudge cake for pudding and it was fine and not too hefty. In a nutshell, this was moderately good value for the money; with a couple of drinks and coffee added our half of the bill came to twenty six pounds but I wish the receptionist who took the booking had reminded me that we were booking at the tail end of lunchtime. We will go back again soon but we are going early to make sure. No excuses then guys.

Arrived about 1pm for lunch to discover there was no buffet on a Saturday (we were also told there would not be one on the Bank Holiday Monday). We ordered from the bar menu, nothing complicated-sausage & mash and ham, egg and chips-as we wanted a quick meal. This was not to be and we waited for much too long a period of time for our food to emerge, in fact watched two other people who had arrived well after us being served with....ham, egg etc etc! When it arrived the meal was acceptable but nothing special, the only plus points were that the coffee was good and the young lady behind the bar helpful and polite.

We stayed overnight at Ramada Plaza Wrexham last weekend and we thought that dining at Zara would be a far better option than anything else in Wrexham..The food was just ok, I asked for some olive oil to dip my bread in and I was surprised when they said that the kitchen doesn't have any..I wonder what do they cook with? Probably some cheap non-healthy oil..My boyfriend had some sort of seafood bouillabaisse, which is basically a seafood stew..among others it had some red snapper in, which didn't smell fresh or tasted right neither. Anyway, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco, they said they didn't have any left, so we order the other option which would've been a Cava Rose. They brought the bottle without asking if that was the wine we ordered, placed it in the wine bucket and we should've opened our own wine, so much for the service..However, while I was at the toilet my boyfriend opened the bottle and poured into the glasses, I tasted it and it had a funny sweet taste (it should't have been sweet as in the description on the wine menu it was classified as no 2 which is dry, just like the prosecco), I had a look at the bottle and it was some sort of sweet summery perry with 5.5% alcohol, something made in UK rather than Spain. So, be careful what drinks you order and make sure they're the right ones. And the service is not great neither.

Have been to the the Zara restaurant at lunchtime a couple of times during March, using the Wrexham Savers card paid £10 for 2 people and £12 for 2 people, which has got to be the best price for all you can eat in a lovely relaxing restaurant, pay more than this in most pubs, I think without the offer price is £8.25, even this price is very reasonable for a lovely buffet meal, always a homemade soup with warm crust rolls, lovely salad course with meats, smoked mackeral etc. different selection each time you go, main course always something that i like (saying that even fussy eaters would surely fill up on something) dessert i have had either lemon meringue, different gateau apple pie, and always a little fresh fruit salad. where else could you have as much as you want 4 course meal, can't wait for my next visit

We arrived at 1.20 pm for lunch and , sad to say, by then, despite there being plenty of choice, everything on the buffet was'tired', still edible but definitely not at its best. On previous visits we've arrived earlier and, whilst not haute cuisine (not to be expected at the very reasonable price) it has been most acceptable. The one member of staff we saw, despite having to be a jack of all trades, was pleasant and helpful, just as well as there were no plates at the ready! On this showing our advice would be to make sure you arrive early, very early!

This is a nice restaurant. The food was good, though the portions were small. But if you are staying in the hotel and want a meal at night, you should consider using room service instead, as this provides a good meal at half the price.

We have taken friends here for ba celebration breakfast, and friends for Sunday lunch - both served as buffets, both excellent. The strength is in fresh ingredients, and in frequent refreshment of the dishes, so that you are not at any point confronted with a frowsted pot of tired food. Service ois cheerful and friendly. Pleasant for the occasional relaxed group outing

This restaurant could well be good, but not when a large coach party is staying. The excellent food was ruined by very poor service. The staff were not totally to blame, as they were overwhelmed by the numbers. The hotel management should plan their staffing levels accordingly. As a business traveler it is not nice to be put on the worst table in the restaurant for dinner, as all the nicer ones have been given to the group; who are paying much less for their stay than I am! Also, at breakfast it would have been nice to be welcomed and taken to a clean table, with all the necessary cutlery. The restaurant is recommended ONLY if there are no coach parties in!

This pub is no longer an Indian Restaurant/ Pub It has been taken over by a very reputable company and is being run brilliantly by Nancy Jones and her under manager Gemma. Mike has been kept on because of his excellent input. The pub has been rejuvenated since the new regime , and now is a truly Community pub. I have been regularly using this pub for 52 years and have not seen it this good since the days of the Moores and Bob and Sue. Good luck to the new management and roll on when the kitchen re-opens even if it’s only for bar snacks.

Don’t we all love a spoons? Had a lot of good times in the north and south bank spent with friends. Very good value and the food is surprisingly nice. Sometimes the queue can be edging on the ludicrous on a Saturday night but that’s the same with everywhere. The only real downside is that it isn’t open 24/7!
