Please be aware they operate a new parking monitor and send charges through the post for £50+ if they deem your stay as unauthorised. This well sign posted and appears to built in a way to trap innocent people stopping in the car park for a short time. Very upset that this large company has decided to go down this path to make a profit.

Food very good standard but the wine and beer well over priced! I think 15.50 for a medium wine and a pint of birra morretti is ridiculous. We had a drink while waiting on our carry out food! Definitely not be having another drink there. Same drink in Anstruther in a bigger establishment was 9.10!! Massive difference in price!

Gran relación calidad-precio el desayuno era tan bueno y todo estaba caliente y toda la recarga para el té y el café sin duda lo mejor para el dinero

Excellent service with you ordering everything from your table which is very convenient. Good choice of food although children’s menu could be better and there were no pizzas which dissapointed our youngest grandchild. We all enjoyed what we ordered and look forward to calling again soon.

Great food at reasonable prices, also the animals and kids playpark are great. Waiting staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. Only issue is you are unable to tip the staff via card payment which is annoying when very few people carry cash and some people like to show gratitude towards the waiting staff.

This was our first visit to the Anchor and we will definitely be back. The food was tasty and well cooked. The tempura prawns were crisp and sweet and the haggis bon bons were also in a crisp shell. The Highland Game pie was superb with lots of fresh vegetables. The pasta dish was also good. Service throughout was friendly. Next time we would prefer to be in the room with the open fire as the room we were in lacked a little atmosphere. All in all a successful evening.

Popped in for a coffee. It's a small ish cafe and there were 3 staff members, 2 behind the counter and another out front. There was only another 2 customers in the place but I wasn't acknowledged at all, even after wandering about, unsure where to sit. The coffee was very disappointing unfortunately. It tasted like sickly hot milk, even after an extra shot, and was very unpleasant. Considering it costs the same as the big named cafes, it's something that needs to be looked at. Yuck. On the plus side, the cakes looked great, just stick to tea.

Food was good enough, very basic menu and unfortunately the restaurant was shut which I was gutted about as the menu looked fantastic. Only had a takeaway menu available which was mostly frozen food, also is to be expected seeing as you’re in the middle of nowhere! Staff were lovely, very on the ball. Drinks were well priced.

We stayed one night, myself, my husband, parents and our daughter. Had drinks and dinner. Salmon, steak pie, burger and fish and chips. All were excellent. Mataias was the bartender, and was wonderful. Room was lovely. We had a view of the waterway and the weather was beautiful today so we’re able to walk along the docks and visit Fort William. Great deck out by the water we were able to sit on until sundown, and then the bugs came out, so back inside! The only downfall, is there are a lot of winding stairs. A bit understaffed early on in the afternoon, but by dinner fully staffed. Staff were friendly and met quite a few new friends throughout the evening. Great ambiance, would definitely return.

I almost never leave reviews, but I felt I had to because I felt so ripped off here. I'm a local and had time to kill before work so I popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, but I got the smallest piece of avocado toast I've ever seen for a tenner. I'm still hungry. I sort of knew it would be a mistake to go somewhere touristy but now I know I definitely won't be back. There are nicer places on Cockburn Street, never mind the rest of the Old Town.

Would suggest avoiding for food if our experience is anything to go by. Dropped in for a quick meal on Friday 8th November. Left with a fairly low opinion. On a positive, the chips were pretty nice, and the burger I ordered was also reasonable fayre. My brother however is Gluten Free so was limited for choice, however there are a couple of options on the menu so all good. Opted for the chicken and chorizo dish at £14. A bit steep, but hey ho. Poorest GF plate we have seen in a long time. 1 chorizo "link" sausage butterflied and heated up somehow, made it so hard it was stiff to cut and not edible. Atop this was a small chicken breast with a topping that made it taste like washing up liquid (we both had a go at it). These were both outdone by a "mango and pepper salad" which was unappetising mush. I'm not convinced the mango had seen daylight in 2024 - more probably the inside of a freezer cabinet. When paying at the bar, I mentioned that this dish was truly awful. Basically got ignored and simply told that's thirty five quid please. Hopefully this gets read and the owners can consider upping the game?

We stayed at this Inn/Hotel at the beginning of November, returning home we received an email asking us to review our stay. This we did by email, however, we did not receive a reply nor did we receive a reply to our follow up copy email, which I now type below. "Many thanks for your email, usually we send a report good or bad to Tripadvisor, as you have asked for feedback I am happy to share our thoughts with you initially. I have an email from you confirming our reservation from the 4th to the 8th November, 2024 in a Garden Room. This was because we have a dog and thought this would be an easier option should she need to go outside. When we arrived we had NOT been booked into a Garden Room for our five nights, as per your confirmation. We were offered a garden room for 3 nights and two other nights elsewhere within the hotel. I really did not feel changing rooms, packing and unpacking for two nights was a good idea, so we opted to stay again in Room 111 for the five night stay. I am sure you will agree, this was not a good start to our holiday. I spoke to another couple who had also booked a garden room only to find they too had been misallocated a room and these long established customers were very upset and vowed not to return next year for their 8th year. I feel it necessary to draw to your attention the lack of servicing for Room 111. Each day our duvet was "just turned over at the top", the bottom sheet was not straightened and the pillows were as we had arisen, not even straightened and aligned. The cleanliness in the bathroom left much to be desired. As I am sure you are aware there is no toilet brush next to the lavatory. The toilet was not cleaned throughout our stay and the bowl after five nights was turning a light shade of brown, however, diligent attention was paid to folding and making the spare toilet roll and the one for use look pretty. I would have preferred a clean toilet. This takes me on to the bath. On arrival there was a single long dark hair in the bath, as we did not use the bath and both have grey hair, this was still there when we left!! The shower doors require a thorough clean and polish, there is black mould on the wall and around the base of the shower. During our stay this was NOT cleaned at all. Mould and Mildew spray with a toothbrush would solve this problem. Likewise the wash hand basin was neglected. No dusting or vacuuming was carried out in the room for the duration of our stay. For your information I left a piece of cotton and a clean tissue on the floor and they were not picked up. When we had dinner in the bar area dogs were quite welcome. However, in the morning we did feel rather like second class citizens as we were with other dog owners required to use the alternative dining room, which was uninviting and a long way from the self-service area in the breakfast room. On two days for breakfast we were along with four other owners with dogs, allowed to use the breakfast room. No explanation was given for the flexible rule. To end on a good note, the staff were pleasant and helpful, always willing to assist in anyway they could. It is with interest I await your response. " On our next trip to Scotland we shall stay elsewhere.

Came with my partner & two children last week. Honestly do not recommend this place anymore (which I can’t believe I am saying as we have came for years) new menu was introduced over the summer and whilst good, not deserving of the price tag they are being flogged for. Unsure if new staff have taken over but the inconsistencies are obvious, food was cold and over all quite bland. Sides were forgotten & had to be requested twice. Staff are not attentive at all, waited 30 mins after mains were finished for plates to be cleared, to then be left waiting 15 minutes for a dessert menu. Whilst I understand the delay during busy periods, it was not busy. We had no table check ins throughout our time here either which doesn’t bode well for feedback. A lot of sour faced staff members (again understandable in busy periods but on this occasion maybe 7 tables were sat!) Won’t be visiting again sadly.

Nothing vegetarian on the menu (really?! in 2024?!) so had to ask, and was given two choices. Opted for veggie lasagne with garlic bread. Worst veggie lasagne I’ve ever had. Half cooked veggies in tomato water, no bechamel (or even cheese) sauce and a thick layer of chewy mozzarella on top. Garlic bread was a slice of white toast with chunks of garlic on top. Would not recommend.
