The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Went into the Gathering for a couple of drinks after being out walking all day. The bar man was quite rude and came across as though he did not want to be there. I went to get a second drink, stood waiting at the bar for over 5 minutes and no one came to serve me, went into the cafe part and asked for a server to come down, bearing in mind the cafe was empty, waited another 5 minutes before deciding to leave and go elsewhere. On leaving, the bar man was standing outside. I did say I would have stayed longer had there been someone available to serve me, and got various excuses from him - its out of season, he's the only one working, he had to restock etc etc. Very poor and would expect better!

Visitamos Antico para un almuerzo tardío con la familia, nuestra mesa, como hemos solicitado y aunque no pueden garantizarlo, tenía una hermosa vista del puente ferroviario. La comida era buena y también el servicio, le faltaba un poco de ambiente, pero era bastante tranquilo, estoy seguro de que estaría ocupado. Sin duda volveremos, preferiblemente, con un día soleado : )

Enjoyable long lunch, Christmas set menu, great value. Coley dish tasty and cooked well. Nice creme brulee too. Washed down with some decent wine and a superb view over the Forth made for a nice afternoon.

Me he registrado en la posada principal durante 3 noches para averiguar que el beefeater está cerrado para la comida y bebida porque todo el personal ha salido debido a que pronto se abrirá allí propio en casa restaurante Tomillo así que solo hay personal allí por la mañana para cocinar el desayuno ... sin embargo, no hay nada en el sitio web sobre que está cerrado ! ! ! ! Me hubiera gustado reservar en otro hotel si hubiera sabido 🙈🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Délicieuses moules frites servies rapidement dans un pub chaleureux. Ce petit pub sur le port est très accueillant et convivial, un lieu de rendez-vous du village dans un bel endroit.

Good city centre location for food and drinks. Had the steak and sausage pie which was nice but not amazing. No sausage in it but I was fine with just the steak! Overload of peas on the plate. Everyone else had mac n cheese in my group which they all said was good. Service was patchy- still waiting on the vinegar for my chips. Great pub for drinks but wouldn’t rush back- just so so for me.

I ate at the restaurant on 2 separate nights, on both nights my main meal was not good. The others present had very good meals however the food that I received was very substandard. The first occasion I had chicken stuffed with haggis, the chicken was dry and over cooked. On the second occasion I had Pasta Carbonara, the pasta was dry, overcooked and inedible. The sauce was tasteless and congealed. As I said my fellow diners really enjoyed there meals, however my experience was not good.

The restaurant staff are very good, attentive and efficient. Highlights of recent meals have been the fish and chips, although the batter is not quite to the standard of previous years and the sticky toffee pudding (always a favourite). An unusual low point was a so called game pie - definately not a pie by any description! The Boat is also a good coffee stop in the mornings, great coffee and lovely scones, we will be back.

We popped in for lunch today, greeted at the door by Elise, very friendly and welcoming. We ordered at the bar and served by Leanne who again was very chatty, friendly and informative. We had the haddock which was excellent. Kids fish bites and a pie. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service was quick and food presented well. Restaurant was clean and warm. Thank you for a lovely welcome and great service.

Mackays was absolutely the best fish and chips I had tasted in years. The portions were very generous, and the menu was surprisingly wide-ranging too.

Booked a table for my wife and i for lunch. I had the beef and ale pie and my wife had fish and chips both from the main lunch menu. A pint of Guinness and a Soda water and Lime. Meals were excellent and very fresh and tasty Would recommend.

Reservado para ver el Super Bowl en Maggies como había oído un montón de cosas positivas sobre el lugar. Pagó £ 30 por un asiento reservado y “Todo lo que pueda comer buffet”. La comida estaba bien, pero tuvo que salir temprano en el juego, ya que los televisores estaban fuera de sincronización y seguían bloqueándose, lo que hace imposible de ver. Fui al lugar brasileño de al lado, que era increíble. Reportamos nuestras preocupaciones al personal, que no parecía interesado y parecía bastante acosado, ya que no éramos los únicos que nos quejamos y luego nos fuimos. Así que no visites este lugar si te gustan los deportes, ya que es el peor de todos. No sé cómo es normalmente, pero no volveré a experimentarlo después de la debacle del Super Bowl.

This is a brief review of my experience. It was Saturday 2nd November and my wife decided to have a spot of lunch at the Glendoick garden centre cafe. Upon arriving the queue was not too bad and the wait only 20 mins or so. My wife ordered the fish and chips and I ordered a cheeseburger. approx 20 mins later the food arrived. My cheese burger was the most rubbery disc of processed, well I don't know what, shall I politely say it was not edible. The fish on the other hand was fresh and quite palatable. The staff thanked me for bringing the matter to their attention. Upon arriving back home I felt most unwell.

Went twice. Am allergic to onions so asked about a side salaa, to leave it oit because it had onions. First time brilliant, with a young waitress, was offered chips instead. Second time this was just forgotten by the waiter and also lost garlic bread because it sat on top of the salad with onions..where it's not meant to be anyway. So smaller dish for me although to be honest the garlic bread was awful, spongy on the first night and dry and hard on the other. Partner took chicken tikka Masala which was also a bit weird with odd small naan bread... This was definitely too little and too sloppy for over 30 pounds with drinks, have a feeling it's just microwaved. They really should not be allowed to ask for tips beforehand when you pay on ordering in these kinds of places. So not deserved on the second time. Never again.
