4 of us had food after a very wet and windy round of golf. The food was reasonable, and the setting is very nice, comfortable chairs, nice ambiance etc. Service is a bit hit and miss unfortunately. Took a while to get seated, though once we were at our table, the staff that looked after our table were very good. The Average rating is based on the pricing/quality equation, as the menu items are quite expensive for what you get, even accounting for the location. It's a frustrating menu too, as the Burger and Chicken Burger sit alongside the Haddock and Steak pie on the menu. The fish and steak pie both come with fries (as would always be expected), but for some mad reason, the Burgers do not. It's crazy, and all of a sudden, the £21 fish & chips (that's expensive) become better value than the £18(!) burger, as fries are an extra £6. By the way, £6 for a modest portion of fries is also ridiculous. There was discussions at other tables regarding some Members getting their 20% discount (totally fair, members should have perks over visitors) but there was something to do with certain members not receiving their 20% on some of the peak days around the Christmas holidays. If that was the case, get a grip owners, and stop making your loyal members feel like second class citizens. Oh, and sort out the Burgers so that they include fries..... especially at £18, as it's clearly not a freshly made burger, or we'd have been asked how we'd like it cooked.

Stopped by on a road trip for a light lunch. Baked potato with mozzarella and roast vegetable filling and a cheese and ham sandwich. We had hot drinks to accompany the food. We both enjoyed our food, no complaints. Staff were pleasant and professional. Not downplaying the older staff, but I will compliment the younger members in particular. They provided service with a smile and with professionalism. Quite often a younger person is not really engaged with being in the hospitality industry. No hint of that on our visit, so we commend you. Also, to the older members of staff well done on mentoring them. We may try the pensioners lunch specials on our next visit, they seem a good deal on paper and seem to be popular by the number of people in the queue. I just hope I qualify, I may not. (The cakes looked good too.)

Visited the garden centre with my Sister today and whilst there thought we would have a light snack. Neither of us were able for a full lunch so asked initially for child portions of chicken goujons each. We were informed by the Manager that they didn’t serve child portions to adults. Ok can understand that the child’s portions included other items like juice etc so we then asked for an adults chicken goujon which we would share. Adult price was £14.50. Manager asked if we wanted two plates and we obviously said yes. When the bill arrived it showed 1x half chicken goujons x 2, however the total price was £21.60 instead of £14.50 ! We did state that they had made a mistake (how can 2x half chicken goujons be more expensive than 1 portion ?) but neither the under Manager of the restaurant nor the Manager were helpful and we were forced to pay the inflated price. Disappointing as we used to enjoy our visits to the garden centre but based on this latest visit we will not be going back

The "red" headed barman This guy is potentially the most ignorant of all the Jocks I've ever met. Ignorant, arrogant and just down right rude, the epitome of small village and small minded, get yourself out a little, go visit the world. If you want ignoring at the bar just let him hear your English accent, if you want food good luck with that he won't put the order through. The man should not be working there end of story. I guess the fact that England were stuffing Scotland in the football didnt help but that should not affect the weeman. Edited to suit todays hurty work folk and Tripadvisors leftie approach on life.

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago and had the most horrific experience of my life. I ordered a chicken ceaser, and when it came over to my table it had salad on it. Personally I don’t believe in putting earthly things into our bodies, and this REALLY threw me over the edge. I went home crying, should be more specific on the menu that this has worm chow on it. When I asked one of the workers to change this for me they tried to charge me double, all I wanted was chicken with a twist of ancient Rome to it. Staff were unexperienced and uncultured, by not meeting my needs. Do not recommend at all, I cried into my pillow all night after this happened. Sorry Pettycur Bay, your customers are not mind readers and can’t tell what is on the dish if you do not specify!!!!!🤬🤬

Lovely Sunday lunch in newly refurbished restaurant. Food and presentation was excellent, more than a little effort had been put in and sweets sumptuous. Staff very pleasant and efficient. An enjoyable experience. Hotel set in the lovely Clydeside.

Stayed at hotel and had dinner there both nights. We both went for burgers the first night ( chicken and beef) they were both delicious, well cooked and filling. Second night we both had the Steak and Ale pie with mash, this was also delicious and piping hot. I couldn't finish mine and I like to eat! Staff were very helpful and friendly and service was excellent.

Great venue for live music, we managed to see JCB on Sunday afternoon and they were amazing - a great range of rock and punk covers and the frontman was the funniest we've ever seen. We didn't have any food as eating was cheating but the food that was being served looked amazing at great prices. A fabulous boozer not far from Central Station. Ten times better than the boring Crystal Palace dump next door. The staff were super attentive and very friendly. Well worth a visit - we'll be back

I am not a moaner by nature, always looking for the positive. Staff were great and welcoming, as were the surroundings and ambience. Limited menu, in my eyes is a good thing as you expect quality to be focussed. However, after two courses came away hungry- I am not a big chap, 5’ 9” 12 stone, normal appetite. My posh prawn cocktail was great, the crispy skin chicken wings, not crispy. Your local chippy would be embarrassed to serve you the smallest piece of haddock I have ever seen, I mean come on Apex, where is your quality control, don’t you want repeat clients? Coffee, what is so difficult about having a hot cup of coffee? I returned it, as it was luke warm, the replacement was also luke warm, why doesn’t anybody warm the cup, I like to enjoy my coffee at leisure, not gulp it down before it freezes over. The waitress kindly discounted the cost, I spend a lot of time in Edinburgh and I have to say, I have a far better dining experience there. Come on Apex, put some effort in and put Dundee on the map. Oh, did I mention £9.50 for a glass of house wine? I never tip when being ripped off by wine cost. Lets get real shall we?

Unless you are loaded avoid this place!! we were charged £4.45 for cappuchino coffee which was nothing special, everything else on the menu is also grossly overpriced

A friendly welcome at the door, lovely coffee and MASSIVE scones (cheese or fruit). Really couldn't fault this little cafe and are looking forward to going back. Though we didn't try them, there were breakfasts, soups, cakes and more on offer. And the plant centre had amazing trees, shrubs and flowering plants that we really enjoyed browsing around. A proper nursery with muddy paths, hosepipes lying around, and staff who know things, not a garden centre full of tat!

What a find, deserves more than 3.5 score. Tuna melt on ciabatta roll was tasty as was my egg mayo roll. Really excellent cappuccino too, really milky and delicious. The cakes are something else, the Strawberry Danish is DIVINE and my partner assured me the fudge doughnut was spectacular. Worth dropping in if you are in the area, if you are pressed for time jump in and buy a cake, you will not regret it. I intend to make a point of visiting again when in that neck of the woods.
