We visit the Clubhouse regularly, usually for lunch which is what we did today, only to find a menu change. Some dishes were the same, some new, but a huge increase in price. Charging £18 for a burger without fries, and then charging £6 for a portion of fries is outrageous! The food isn't remarkable by any means, it's actually very average, and certainly not value for money. We'll go back, have a glass of wine or maybe coffee, but we won't be eating there again.

After a relaxing visit to the spa , I decided to pop into the clubhouse for some lunch before heading back to Cameron House for the evening. From entry to exit, Leigh took complete care of my needs and requirements and nothing was too much for him. A friendly member of staff who works efficiently and takes a lot of pride in his standards. Cannot wait to revisit! Food was top notch but customer service was incredible.

We were staying in Cameron House lodges so first of all the concierge was 1/2 hour late to take us down to the restaurant. On arrival we were seated next to the singer who was very good but so loud when seated next to your table it was also concerning our table blocked the fire exit ! Our starters came quick enough but the main course took ages and it was only after asking if there was a reason we hadn't received our food that it arrived virtually immediately which gave the impression it had been ready for a while and sitting under the lights!! The server came eventually to clear our plates but for some reason took 2 plates and never came back for the other 3. The staff really need to be more aware of what is going on perhaps have their own allocated tables. We couldn't be bothered having a sweet or coffee due to the time we would probably have to wait ..It was a nice enough meal but staff training is well over due!!

We had dinner here on a Sunday night and it was our first visit. We were shown to our table and then completely forgotten about. I eventually went to the bar after around 20 minutes to ask if someone could take our order for a drink and food. The young member of staff was extremely apologetic and came straight over, in fairness to him (it was the older gentleman greeting people as they came in that seated us) he thought our order had been taken. The food was very average and for me the portions were far too big and thus off putting. A lovely setting but unfortunately we won't be visiting again.

Starters are small buy tasty, dinner was clearly pre cooked but my biggest disappointment was the cheeseboard, blant, boring, out of date cheese thst were stale, no grapes or celery, same biscuit type and miserly portions. Clearly take their guests for granted based in thus experience.

The staff in the restaurant seemed very nice but the service wasn’t good. No one came to take our order and my soft drink was warm and given with a small amount of ice. No one asked if we wanted any condiments. The biggest disappointment was the food though. I got a chicken burger and it was dry and served on a in a cold bun. It came with some salsa but it was out a jar. I tried my friends chicken wings which were just smothered in a sickly sweet sauce. Truffle Parmesan fires were just fries minus the truffle and Parmesan. Overpriced for the poor quality. Its chain pub quality at best. I wouldn’t go back.

Went there as a group of 3 after golf on a weekday. Went to order lunch. Intially went to the bar to order drink which took the best part of 15 minutes to arrive before ordering food. Food to an hour to come, we went to chase up with staff to which kept getting told was almost ready until we threatened to walk out to which it eventually came. We overheard other tables also chasing up orders with a few just walking out due to the length it was taking and others reviewing wrong orders. When the food eventually came wasn’t even an apology from the waitress. Whilst the food was actually very good - the service was absolutely shocking / appeared to be unable to cope with a half full restaurant. Shame for has the potential to be a really great restaurant there is a clear lack of management (seems to be fairly common experience from looking at other reviews).

Hello I’m sorry to say I had a very unpleasant time eating at the Cameron house clubhouse. First of all the waiters and waitresses were not attentive to our table once sat down and I had to repeatedly get up and ask for our order to be taken for food and multiple drinks orders. The worst part being able to see the staff stand at the bar on their phones. The food was a disaster and over priced. I ordered the chicken breast, bacon, mash and veg. It came without any bacon and when I queried it to the waitress said she would bring it out but it never arrived. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding for desert which I was looking forward to after a round of golf. However when it arrived I quickly realised it was still frozen. I quickly handed this back to the waitress and another one came out 10 mins after my group had finished their deserts. When the bill came the staff had the cheeky to add a service charge for the meal. I paid it but on hind sight I should have asked for it to be removed! It was really disappointing as we had a great day at the golf but the clubhouse meal really the let the place down! Not where near a 5 star resort! Regards Lewis

Yet again this place disappoints, only went in for a couple of drinks after golf, even ordered and paid at the bar to quicken things up, staff offered to bring them to the table but the overpriced soft drinks were not brought over and we had to go and collect ourselves after 15 minutes, dirty glasses everywhere but loads of staff??? Come on you guys you are supposed to be at the higher end, oh and keep an eye on your toilets as they also let you down (toilet roll not replaced, on the floor and bins overflowing) this observation was from a visit the previous week.

Very enjoyable lunch at the Clubhouse, Cameron House. Surroundings, ambience and overall mood in the restaurant was perfect very relaxing but with plenty of atmosphere. Ideal place for lunch and a long overdue catch up. Seated on arrival and very well looked after by Clubhouse Supervisor Roslyn for the duration of our stay which I would say was definitely longer than most. Food was delicious, starters tomato & basil soup which was amazing and smoked salmon starter both were thoroughly enjoyed. Both had salmon main course good portion well presented and delicious. Could not resist a desert the frozen chocolate with whipped cream, mini marshmallows and hot chocolate sauce had to be tried and did not disappoint! Lovey overall experience all staff pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. Roslyn who mainly looked after us is a credit to the Clubhouse.

After a fabulous round of golf on The Carrick Course, my partner and I popped into the nineteenth for a quick drink before heading back to the holiday cottage, and discovered a real gem. The service was fantastic and the staff were friendly and accommodating. In fact we had to drop in every day for either a breakfast, which is a pure Scottish experience, or a drink after visiting the places of my partner's youth (but that's another story). I couldn't recommend this highly enough as the clubhouse has a fantastic view of the eighteenth green and even if you are not a golfer, there are walkways that will allow you to view the spectacular Loch Lomond from the golf course. Both of us felt very welcome and the measures they have in place at this time made us feel safe and well looked after. Well done to all involved and we plan to visit again at the earliest opportunity.

For Valentine's Day we decided to go somewhere different. We had eaten at the Cameron House hotel Boat House restaurant some time ago and loved it, so the Cameron House Clubhouse seemed like the perfect place to try.The website is very confusing as the Clubhouse is continually referred to as part of the Cameron House Hotel. Even the postcode on the Clubhouse page was that of the Cameron House hotel, so we followed the post code using our in-car sat-nav system, only to find ourselves at the hotel and nowhere near the Clubhouse restaurant, which is actually at The Carrick golf course, some four miles away. There is no reference to The Carrick on any restaurant literature.Once at the Clubhouse we were warmly welcomed by the hostess who sat us and avoided our moans about the misguiding location, telling us that as we had finally made it we should relax and enjoy, which rather suggests that guests bemoaning the confusing directions are not something unusual. The food and service were excellent. We shared a large platter of chicken wings to start and opted for the hot whisky version, but they were a bit sweet, so, although tasty, next time we shall try the spicy buffalo version. The accompanying sauce for the wings was described as blue cheese dip, but the flavour did not resemble the description. It was a nondescript sauce with the consistency of yogurt. My wife had a Cameron burger main course, which was served on a wooden plank, piled high with two onion rings and a dill pickle atop the burger and a basket of freshly cooked hot chips on the side. I had the Scottish salmon fillet which was served with cherry tomatoes on the vine and baby broccoli. The fish, like my wife's burger, was delicious. I had a rocket and sun-dried tomato salad too, but next time I will ask to omit the rather-too-sweet dressing. We were too full to take on a dessert, so finished off with café latte. All in all, we had a lovely evening and we very much enjoyed the live music too. We will definitely return on a Friday since that is the only evening of the week that live music is on the menu.

From the time I contacted The Club House to book on to this event (and confirm it was two adults who REALLY wanted to do this) to the moment we arrived the help and service was incredible. We had help to 'build' our 'house' not as easy as it seems!! and top tips on how to decorate from the staff. With our chefs hats on (and a celebratory beer having just gotten engaged) we embarked on the task and had an absolute ball. We are now enjoying eating our house and the many, many sweets stuck to it. We would like to thank all the staff at The Club House for making it a really great experience.

We had a day spa which was excellent. Had a meal at the Clubhouse later. It used to be the Claret Jug but has had a rename and refurbishment since we last ate there. Alas, the refurbishment includes 3 huge televisions, all sports channel! I could understand if there was one in the lounge around the corner (there was another there too), but those televisions in the restaurant totally ruined it for us. There were many people eating there, no one goes for a meal to be surrounded by sports tv, nobody was watching them. The meal was lovely and the staff were very good. I would have loved to give it 5 stars but unfortunately we will not be going again due to the ambience, which has been ruined.

We played golf here on our day off while working nearby, the golf was excellent and will definitely be back. However we stayed to eat in the newly refurbished club house, this was less impressive. The decor was very nice however, The steak we had was average, both were slightly over cooked but not enough to bother sending back, it was nothing special and a little grisly, the main issue was cost which was over priced and more than a little misleading. The prices for the same drink varied, a pint of lager was initially £5.25 but then was £5.60, the Cidre went from £4.60 to £5.60 and the glass of red wine was £6.25 on the menu but was £8 on the bill! So my advice is check the bill before leaving! Also they add a 10% service charge to the bill without asking, I’ll decide if and what to tip if you don’t mind! Two steaks a side each and 5 drinks between us for £105 I would expect better and certainly would expect the pricing and menus to be accurate.

Was quite confused with the set menu which had limited items and was £30 , other tables seemed to be having burgers, macaroni etc which never appeared on the menu. Portion size was very small and should have been so much better, pork cutlet is not an expensive meat but was just over bite size after removing the fat, not good enough for a main meal and the cost and accompanied by less than a handful of chips. We walked into the Restaurant and there was one table only with one member of staff talking to the guests and another clearing tables. We sat down and waited and waited. Finally I had to get up and ask if anyone was serving or if we had to go to the bar for service. A waiter came over and took our order. The coffee was lukewarm. On our second visit we thought we would have brunch. Upon arrival we waited to be seated but the two members of staff behind the bar were talking to each other. They didn't interrupt their chat to show us to our table so we sat down and waited. One of the members of staff left the bar and we thought that she was going to bring us a menu but she didn't. We recently visited the Claret Jug for lunch using a gift voucher. I have eaten here once before when playing golf but this time was with my wife. We are big fans of Cameron House Hotel and with the hotel being out of action following the terrible fire we thought the Claret Jug may have stepped up their game to attract customers but apparently not. The staff were fine but the restaurant was virtually empty. I also thought the place was showing signs of being a bit shabby with marks and tears on the wallpaper.

The meal was good and nicely presented, and reasonably priced. Being on the Cameron Lodge estate, one might have expected more of a "white tablecloth" venue but it is very much part of the Club House in terms of décor and ambience, as indeed one might expect from the restaurant's name!

The service was very attentive and the staff pleasant, however the food was very average. Considering the spa is five star this restaurant is disappointing. Ribeye steak was grisly and chewy. Chips were ok. Onion rings a bit greasy. Burger was also average.

Booked for a celebratory meal we were contacted to be told restaurant was closing early- we needed to be there by 5pm (it was 16.20 already and we would have needed to have left straight away to have any chance of meeting this target instead of our mid evening booking) if we wanted to eat as it had suddenly been decided that the restaurant was to close at 6pm. This is due to the inch or less of snow here it seems.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal at The Claret Jug. Decent menu to choose from, and all dishes were cooked perfectly. Adequate, if pricy, wine list. Service very friendly too.

After a round of golf at the Carrick, our voucher entitled us to a burger at the Claret Jug. When I declined the burger, the waiter offered me fish and chips instead. There was a short wai5 for the food, but when it came, it was great. The other 3 had burgers which were huge, looked really great and came with chips and onion rings. My fish and chips was perfectly cooked.

We have never had a bad meal at the Claret Jug! It’s a bit like super tasty, posh pub grub. It’s more expensive than normal pub grub but is always delicious and worth paying a little extra to get this standard of food! I had the potted pulled pork and then a duo of cod & salmon - both were really good, the fish came with a super tasty mini deep fried cod on top which was just delightful! My husband had the cheese and mustard croquettes which were cooked to perfection. He followed up with the curry - the only downside was that the nan bread could have been softer and better but other than that, everything was brilliant! Service was also top notch - I recognised the barman as having been there for a good few years and he is always very polite with excellent customer service to all customers.

Ate in the Claret Jug today following a round of golf. He meal was part of a gift from our kids. The Staff are very friendly and helpful. We both had the burger, and although it took a while before the meal arrived at our table, it was well worth the wait. The burger was cooked perfectly, was tasty and very lean. The twice cooked chips were super.

Gastropub standard food at gourmet prices, the disabled toilet had obviously been used by a man with impaired vision who did not trouble to sit. The bar staff were attentive and efficient however, and salvaged what would have been an unhappy visit. The ferry service in the hotel minibus, although traversing a wet roundabout at a speed I thought impossible, delivered us disheveled but safe, and the pickup and return very efficient also.

Atmosphere non existent mainly due to pricing. Special menu for two appears good until add ons are taken into account- £ 10 extra for Rib eye steak- you can buy 2 rib eye steaks at local butchers for £10. How can this be justified? Also £3.50 extra for chips etc, etc. Far better value to get taxi into town to local restaurantsCOME ON CAMERON HOUSE give lodge owners and customers value for money

I have played golf as a guest at the Carrick many times, and have always dined at the Claret Jug either before or after the golf depending on our tee off time. Today, we had 'lunch' before the golf, choosing from the lunch rather than a la carte menu.Since my last visit, the ownership has apparently changed, and quite obviously, the prices have dramatically increased, which as a guest, actually I had second thoughts about ordering due to the costs my host would incur, compared to what I would spend when hosting at my own traditional golf club down in Ayrshire. Have what you like insisted my host, so I opted for the 'Pie of the Day', having been informed that this was a steak pie. £12, but ok - accompanied with mushy peas and chips.I was presented after a short while, with a plate of food which I can only describe as a disgrace. Had I been able to, this review would have a zero dots rating. The 'pie of the day' was nothing more than a poor quality Scotch type pie you would purchase in any supermarket, but this lacked the quality of those available in the supermarket. The pie crust was like cardboard, and the grey coloured filling was tasteless, of a chewy texture and of indeterminate origin - steak? I have my doubts. The 'pie' was accompanied with some brown gloop served in a jug purporting to be gravy along with some smeared garden peas which had a few seconds in a food blender and some overcooked, verging on burnt chips. As I am diabetic, I choked the food down as I needed it to get round the golf, but it was disgraceful that it was served at all, never mind for £12. I don't know of any chef of competence that would not make their own steak pie and pastry, and actually, if you are reading this Claret Jug, mushy peas are slow cooked marrowfat peas, and NOT frozen garden pease whizzed in a blender and then smeared on the plate in a laughable attempt at food art! The chef that allowed that plate of food to leave his kitchen should be ashamed of himself. If he is told what to serve by the new owners, then they should be ashamed of themselves. As I have written a few reviews on trip advisor, I always like to see the positive rather than the negative in my reviews. In this case, the positive is that I would serve the food I had to the dog. It was better than the dried kibble it gets for its food, but only better by a narrow margin. Top tip, if you are golfing at the Carrick, get your food elsewhere before you arrive!

Very disappointed with here. Went in for a meal after the spa. Poor menu choice, ended up choosing steak as there was really nothing much to choose ! Paid the same as it cost to eat in the Cameron grill for a steak and it was not good quality at all, steakWas chewy and full of fat, highly disappointed. On entry no one took us to a table, sat down and no one gave a menu or asked what we would like to drink. Went to bar and asked how to order to be Told they'll come to the table ... when?! A waste of £70 for a meal for 2, won't be back

this was a leasurly lunch with friends. We were served and attended to by very attentive staff, who excelled at their job, nothing was too difficult for them, and they were cheerful respectful and freindly, especially Marc who ran about after us for hours, The choice of wine was exceptional and my sister really enjoyed her choice, the rest of us were drivers!! The food menu was extensive, pleanty of choice for lite bites or larger meals, we chose to have a our main meal of the day, the starters were wonderful, very decent portions, i had the soup which was lovely withthe added extra rarebit wonderful, Mains were very tasty beautifully presented. ice cream was --ice cream. but we were so full we could not eat another thing, although there was a good selection of sweets. The teas and coffees were searved with a tastey what i think was a cardemen shortbread, did i say we were full, we managed a wee bit of them. At no point did we feel we were presurised into leaving and as I say this was a 4 hour lunch. We had occassion to use the toilet , the ladies were wonderful, with sinks to blow your mind, thought i was in a harry potter movie. the disabled toilet was very large with plenty of room to turn a wheelchair, movable grab rail to one side with a fair distance from the basin, sink and taps also appropriate for wheelchair user, all very clean. staff were also very helpful with door opening. the disabled bays are at the door, there are some cobbles but not to ticky for a wheelchair user. We sat at the window and had lovely views of poor golfers getting drenched whilst they enjoyed thier golf, we stayed warm and dry..ever one to thier own I always say.Averall we had a really wonderful afternoon.I would highly recommend this for that wee special lunch or just because you are special, We split the bill £37 a head for 3 of us, service charge is included in the bill.

We were a party of eight at the Claret Jug four of whom are golf members .The food is overpriced for what it is and a number of items were unavailable .The Prawn cocktail starter at £12. 50 was very small prawns served in a half pint jar with sauce on the side , no bread or salad .The Haggis pie was tasty but was not a pie and came with home made potato scone the size of a ten pence piece. The devilled kidneys dish was available but they had no kidneys ?A request for boiled potatoes was refused as they had no potatoes (how do they make there mashed )All in all very disappointing but The waiting staff were very good but let down by the kitchen / management .Fine dining prices without the fine dining experience .kidney dish was available but they had no kidneys ?

Staying at our Cameron House lodge we took the courtesy shuttle to the Claret Jug for dinner. No starters ordered and my wife enjoyed the salmon and cod duo while I had haddock and chips with mushy peas...sorry pea which had been micronised and hidden under the fish!...which was a poor size given the price of the meal.Wine list did not reflect what was on their internet page and prices had increased.New owners had also replaced a jolly good Belhaven ale with a lighter Cameron ale which also most probably increases their profitability. All in all a disappointing expensive meal rescued only by a pleasant waiter.

The Claret Jug decor is looking shabby and tired. It needs a refurbishment which I understand may be happening in January 2018. Love the comfortable relaxing sofas and chairs by the fire, but the restaurant is dim, lacking in comfort and atmosphere. The glass panelling behind the seats near to the bar was dirty and streaky as if some attempt had been made to clean it but not polished, seat cushions needed plumped up, The whole place felt a little unloved. The food was tasty, well presented and reasonably good value. The outstanding aspect of the visit is the fantastic member of staff, Mark. We have been served by him on a number of occasions and his genuine manner, humour and professionalism should not go unrewarded by his manager. He is a credit to the establishment and helps you to forget the downsides as mentioned above. Looking forward to the refurb which will have to be high spec, polished and efficient if it to attract more American golfers that is the intention!!!!!

Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is also very good. All that said the drinks prices are dreadful; a 175ml glass of wine £17.50, a cocktail £25! Sadly they certainly overcharge on drinks by a considerable margin. Cremant at £10 for 125ml is quite reasonable!

Toilets were still being cleaned (and an absolute state) just after opening. Wouldn’t swap an egg for a tomato on my breakfast, despite it being of lower value and every other Wetherspoons I’ve been to not having an issue with it.
