One of my favourite Pubs! All the staff are fantastic and so polite and hard working! Full of Colourful characters dayin the Ben Hur doon the bow, all the Mad Paul O'Gradies and Big Mag Pie is on the Drum, geein it Ramming Speed!... Great value fur food and bevy... please tip staff every so often because they thoroughly deserve it... 🙏🏻

Met up with family I had pint of Stella, 2 of my cousins had coffee and breakfast bagel ,other cousin had pint of fresh orange and lemonade, first class service, great atmosphere, everyone enjoyed what they had,would definitely recommend.

Great value and quality for price they are charging. Food always piping hot delivered to table.

We are big spoons fans but this one is our favourite. Friendly, chatty staff, great food and fab atmosphere. We can't recommend it enough. Keep up the good work, from two happy customers.

First time eating in here for work. I'm a support worker so had a wheelchair user with me. Staff were very helpful at finding a suitable table and just in general really good with the additional things I asked for. Good very reasonably priced food served quickly. Great value for money. Will definitely be returning with the person I support or if I was eating out myself it would now also be an option that's near by.

Friendly staff and good service

We are Dumbarton residents and this is our morning goto. As with all JDW premises it's historic, but the best part of the morning ritual is talking with and watching the other locals. Friendly and helpful.

To be welcomed with a smile and good morning was really nice. Breakfast with coffee at very reasonable price, you wouldn't get lower prices anywhere else. Today we had a nice breakfast, still a great establishment. Another day, cold and wet, another breakfast warm and comforting. 👍 Another visit, all well apart from Abbot ale, what's happened to it, I tasted it and had to make another choice. The grub was good and hot. Abbot seems to be sorted now, not just here but other branches, this evening a meal in the sun, delightful 🙂. 11 10 A walk in a sunny but rather chilly park then in here for a bite to eat, still great value and pleasant staff.

Spoons #149 another really nice pub with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately our 1st choice of food on the app was the Beef lasagna, was not available so our 2nd choice was curries which did not disappoint Very nice staff, friendly efficient service in a very fresh clean pub. Breakfast was excellent scrambled eggs was cooked properly all in a good first time staff very welcoming. service was very quick

Ordered a pint of coke and I got less than half a pint glass was filled with ice which I never asked for

We had come here for an early breakfast and had both ordered the standard scottish fry. I was met by a very jolly waitress at the bar, which at 8am is very much appreciated and she continued to show the pride she took in her work. Our food come out quickly and was cooked the way we like it, and was nice and hot, the only thing we would recommend to all Wetherspoons is that they should warm their plates before putting food on them as the food tends to cool down quickly as a result. We had 2 refillable cappuccinos and the machines are so easy to use and the coffee is great for the money!! Will defo be back and highly recommend for breakfast within Dumbarton!!

This is such a great value pub with excellent service and atmosphere.

This was a fantastic pub to go for a drink at, with a design that represents Scotland especially through the drums! The staff were friendly, the bar is well-presented and it is located conveniently near a train station. I enjoyed a pint of Thatcher's apple cider, sitting comfortably at a clean table!

The food was awful however it really was a case of you get what you pay for. We were really hungry and this was the only choice we had as it was late in the afternoon. It was a Monday afternoon and there were a lot of people drinking pints whilst we ate. That kinda made me feel a wee bit awkward.

Fantastic service Great friendly staff But having to cue for a coffee, only one machine working very slowly, lots of people complaining staff trying their best. Wetherspoons seem to be running down these aged coffee machines, but whilst you do, you are loosing customers. I recommend this place highly if coffee machine works, if not head for your breakfast somewhere else

Very disappointing visit. I tried to order the burrito salad, was told there was none, so I opted for 8oz gammon steak with baked potato and veg, (as there was no salad)then there was no baked potato left, the guy suggested rice with it as I didn't want chips, sat back down, the server came to the table to say there was only enough gammon for half a portion, I asked if they could put something else on the pleat, like a 4oz rump or pork (similar to the mixed grill) she returned to say the managed won't allow that, so I ended up having to choose pizza. I was trying to stick to a slimming world diet at the time and there was literally no time to sit and look at the menu again to see what else I could have that wouldn't ruin my diet. Pizza came, and it was half the size it should be. The description is 11" pizza, which almost fills the plate, as I've had it before. I had to take my pizza up to the bar area and speak to the duty manager. He agreed it was far smaller than it should be and offered to make me another pizza. My partner was already served his burger and chips, so I didn't want to then have to wait again for a pizza, so I asked if there was anything he could do to the price, as I didn't want to waste this pizza. He was very good and refunded me the whole price of the pizza. It was a better outcome thanks to him. Ridiculous how they had ran out of almost everything half way through a Saturday afternoon though! It wasn't even busy.

I like Wetherspoons but I love this one. Lovely, spacious, clean dining area. You can order from your table using the app or at the bar and there is plenty of room at the bar for ordering. The menu is brilliant , breakfast is served till 12 with a huge choice including American and Scottish breakfasts as well as hot filled rolls, pancakes and many other choices. The cooked breakfasts are offered in a small and larger size which is great , if like me you can't eat a lot. The choices throughout the day are lovely too, pub classics, pizzas, salads burgers and more and again offered in two sizes. Everything I have tried has been lovely and hot and cooked really well. The puddings are amazing too. All main meals come with a choice of drinks and tea and coffee have free refills after your first purchase. The staff are amazing, very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. The only downside for me is that the disabled toilet hasn't had a lock on the door for over a week now, as the other toilets are up three flights of stairs which, if like me, you have mobility problems Is not great. But even that wouldn't put me off going. Great restaurant, great food and amazing staff. I would highly recommend .

Everything a Wethersppoons pub should be. Excellent food delvered in reasonable time considering how busy pub was. Exceptional value pint of Leffe blonde when selected as part of an afternoon meal deal. Delicious too. Nice atmosphere throughout pub with super clean facilities upstairs. The garden area was a bit loud and noisy for our liking but a nice quiet booth met the need.

Awful. We know it's a Wetherspoons,and therefore an atmosphere vacuum already,but you would think that it'd be possible to get a pint that doesn't either taste of soap,metal,or some other horrible thing. I ook one back and the fella immediately offered me something else.so that's good. However, I disnt expect the second pint ro also taste off. Tennents is almost always reliable everywhere. Not in here. We had avoided Wetherspoons pubs all through covid on principle,ad rhe owener is a horrible man.we only went back in as the Counting House is obviously more expensive. We shouldn't have. If we do go back itl be bottles,cans or spirits only as the beer lines are not cleaned or looked after properly. Clearing the used plates from their beer garden is also far too rare,and massive seagulls are prowling and swooping for grub constantly. We have had food many times.decent,bad and indifferent. We know it's cheaper,but it should still be eatable/drinkable. Avoid. Unless you are desperate. Back in the beer garden along the street with a proper pint now.chesrs

Maybe a bit understaffed,tables lying dirty for over a hour. Can't fault the staff,they do their best. Also chairs are dated and quite dirty,puts you off eating there.

The food is nice, the atmosphere is relaxed, they offer variety of choice with a kids menu for fussy eaters. They have indoor or outdoor seating. You find your seat and table number then when you've made your choice, go to the bar, say what you want and it will be brought over. If you buy a tea/coffee etc hot drink refills are free again and again. Toilets are upstairs which is not good for wheelchair users, however it does have wheelchair toilets available on the ground floor so all in all a nice place to eat x they also serve alcohol, from wine, cocktails, beer, cider and much more.

A bit cold near the front door apparently they're not allowed to put the over door heater on - however was in good company and food was good

The food/drink is good for the price point, food is generally pretty consistent. Not 5 stars because it is the best restaurant ever, but for the price, you can't argue. There is a carpark to the rear & it is a relatively short walk from Dalreoch train station.

Something has changed here, now on our 4th visit and each time food has been great but staff have also been amazing. Won’t lie over time it hasn’t been great here but keep doing what you’re doing guys as you are nailing it and beating your competition hands down. We will be coming back as not only do we know what we’re getting but we can afford you!! Recent local other restaurants are not matching the current financial crisis but their standards have dropped - see you soon!!

Brilliant prices on food and drink. Free Refills coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Meals are standard but can't complain when keeping prices down. Staff are absolutely lovely 🙂

Been here a few times and the food was lovely also enjoyed the steak deal on a Tuesday staff nice as well.

A usual Wetherspoons cheap and has as many deals I realised this when a deal they had on covering a drink was changed from advertised and had no real deal at all The place is clean and tidy and there is plenty to be found on the menu that will suit all! Overall I must say it just an average cloned corporate boozer with no real character of its own!

I walk from the West End of Glasgow along the Nolly (Forth and Clyde Canal) to Bowling and follow the old railway line to Dumbarton. 11 miles from Jordanhill. This Spoons is always my destination and never fails to deliver. Beer is always good and food is great. Short hop to the station for the train back to Anniesland and perhaps a quick pint in the Esquire House!! Slainte mhor. Fraser.

This is a local place to us, prices fab for meals and alcohol. Just a comfortable go to place. Love the breakfasts.

Ordered a curry first bite realised it was cold asked for it to be changed they took the curry away and left nan rice and poppadoms came back about 8min later with a warm curry I had to laugh. Usually this place is very good .a bit of a let down this time

Medium in size compared to other wetherspoons, The Captain James Lang was quite busy the lunchtime of my visit (saturday). Plenty of choice regarding draught beers, cans and real ales. Plenty of diners proves the food is decent quality. Worth a visit if you're close by! 👍

I ate in here on Tuesday 16 August, and decided to go for a baked potato with tuna mayo. When it arrived - rather a tad too quickly for my liking - it was an average sized portion with an equally modest amount of filling. There was no margarine or butter on the potato to give it some moistness. I' gonna give this a place now - used to be good but has rapidly gone downhill. My eatery of choice now is the superb Tikka Fusion Indian takeaway in Bellsmyre. Massive portions, tasty dishes, excellent value for money, great lively atmospheeand some of the best staff you could ever hope to meet.

Excellent pub in the town centre of Dumbarton. Formerly a Woolworths store and there are some interesting displays on the walls. Some disabled parking outside the front door. Plenty of tables inside and an outside sitting area with views over the river. Keen prices for drinks and food and offers are on every day. Good sized portions of food that is well cooked. Always busy but there are usually enough staff on to satisfy demand.

Food wasn't warm for very long after they brought it out and I started eating straight away... Can't fault the amount you get nor the value for money though! Had the small Scottish breakfast. Toilets are about 6 miles away from ANY table though.... usual Wetherspoons. So make sure you go to the loo as soon as you need otherwise you could soil yourself. Will return.

Stopped for a drink and bite to eat on a day out to Balloch. Service very good and did not wait long for food .Not to busy when we were there .Enjoyed our wine and food 😋

My friend and I enjoyed a fab three bean chilli baked potato and a lovely fresh Mediterranean salad here. Great service. Definitely recommend. Too busy talking to take pics.
