Had a wonderful family meal of carvery and menu food. Service was wonderful and the pub has a lovely atmosphere.

The Queenie. What’s not to love? The carvery is a great time, pedigree is a great drink, Abigail and Adam provided great service. Ever since Liz went upstairs I’ve had a Queen shaped hole in my heart and it’s now been filled with meat and sides. 10/10 would come back

Absolutely excellent service from Abby and Becca, both staff members were lovely to chat to and get to know. This made my experience and overall atmosphere so much appealing and I will definitely be back to try some of the food.

The kids food was absolutely disgusting as they were clearly using old fat to deep fry the kids FROZEN waffles and dippers, they were a disgusting brown colour which shows how old the oil was. Wouldn’t have fed it to my dog, really need to review your kids menu and stop being lazy for options. I could have bought that stuff myself for the house! Really wasn’t happy

Cavary can be a hit or a miss, when it's good, it's value for money, but more often than not it as been poor as in presentation of the vegetables on offer are often dried out ,the same with the meats on offer , this could because they are quite or because they are short staffed, but has i said when it's good it's very good just not consistent enough, as for the service it very good .

The staff were very friendly. The place wasn’t too busy but still had a lovely warm atmosphere. The service was quick and the food lovely. As a matter of fact the meat in the carvery was the best I’ve tasted. Cooked to perfection. We usually visit in the summer where they have many tables outside for dinning. I’d definitely recommend.

My partner and I had an absolutely fantastic experience here over the Christmas break. We would highly recommend the Steak and Ale pie, it was delicious! The atmosphere was calm and the service was quick. One particular member of staff we would love to bring attention to it Becca - she was incredibly helpful, welcoming and friendly. We would definitely come here again when visiting!

Went for Christmas Dinner.. was expensive for what we had. No welcome drinks or coffee just 3 course carvery self service. The food was cold and the roast potatoes, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings were soggy. We were given a 2 hours slot which was fine but after 1 hour when my mum said she wanted to wait 15 minutes for her dessert because she was full, the manager came over and said we are going to give you it now. I said it's ok we'll wait a bit and he said no we'll bring it now I need the table! We still had 1 hour left!!! Waitresses were lovely and very hardworking. Won't be here next Christmas it was not a very good experience at all. Wish we'd stayed home and saved the money. At least we would have felt welcome!

The staff were lovely, especially Becky, Abigail and Gina. The Christmas Decorations were fantastic, and meeting Santa was great! Lovely food and great coffee!

Food was quickly served and was hot and tasty. Bar service was pleasant, but so slow. Beers are overpriced

Service was good and the food was really nice but the portion size was very small and the meals didn’t have everything they were meant to have. The vegan Thai curry was missing the crackers and the vegan chilli didn’t have sour cream or tortilla chips. The scoops of vegan ice cream were microscopic.

Carvery was tasty and for first time meat slices were not transparent. Staff all very helpful & nice.

Server and lady on the desk were incredible. Food was out of this world so hot and fresh. We brought our dog and I was a bit nervous because there were so many dogs in. Thankfully my dog behaved himself.

Stayed for three nights at the adjacent Queen of the Loch for business. Ate 4 meals at Marstens... Warm and cozy with a large menu of well prepared foods. Make sure Gemma pours your Tennets... she is a pro!

Nice carvery but the veg really was a bit dried up . My chair was more than wobbly, same with the one next to me, health and safety guys, those should be repaired or replaced

It was a let down. Bone dry carvery for 19.99. they served 4 pieces of dried meat. Look at the picture and you will know the quality they serve their customer.

Tasteless pub grub, fish n chips with mushy peas, the 3 items tasted exactly the same totally and utterly bland, only flavour that came through was cooking oil. The carvery meats were dry, the vegetables unseasoned and the Yorkshire pudding limp and deflated. Tea served in a cappuccino cup, therefore going cold less than halfway down. It was telling that we witnessed the kitchen staff taking delivery of pizza from a local takeaway for their dinner. £30 for a really bad lunch for 2. First and last visit for me.

Food awful, disappointing that a trained chef can’t make roast parsnips or gravy

Service was great from arrival, restaurant clean and well decorated. Food and drinks ordered at the bar, drinks served immediately and food served a short period after. Good size portions, freshly cooked and most importantly hot. The food was very tasty and enjoyable and staff verified everything was to satisfaction. Overall an excellent visit.

Carvery was fresh and tasty only downside is that the slices of meat are cut too thinly, don't be mean with it!

Great food lovely staff just a shame they couldn't help me with the blue card I had with me I've used it loads of times in Marston restaurants never had a problem but not this time apart from that the place is very friendly and food is lovely

Food was disappointing. I stayed in the hotel for a couple of days, on the first day I received both under and over cooked food! Cauliflower wings (frozen and reheated) were cold in the middle, and my steak was over cooked. Breakfast the next day I got pancakes, I thought they would be hard to mess up, they couldn't even reheat pancakes properly, lukewarm to touch 🤦 not even making pancakes fresh is kind of embarrassing, not to mention the soggy defrosted berries on top. On the plus side the bar staff were really friendly, and the rooms were clean and tidy.

Service was excellent waitress and manageress lovely and Adam great. Food was very good could do with more chips. Orders taken at table instead of the counter as previous this was an improvement.

Adam and Ross were exceptional with their customer service and nothing was an issue they were both very friendly and the chef that was on I always think he is the best one in there I don’t have his name but he always ensures the food is lovely and fresh and he also went out his way to get me fresh cauliflower from the kitchen which is my favourite thanks guys this was Chester enjoying his visit too

Lovely friendly staff, who are willing to help or direct. Food and drink especially drink on high side but all in all had a lovely relaxing few days away.

Best service ever from Abigail and ream

We eat here often and always have a good night. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food is good value, with offers most nights. There's a nice range of beers on tap, and an attractive beer garden as well. The last time we visited they had just changed to table service and it was a definite improvement - no queues. We were well served by Gemma, Ross and Adam, and never felt forgotten about, which can happen in some restaurants. We'll be back!

Dog friendly, lovely staff and great atmosphere. They even had treats and a water bowl for my dog.

Staff are helpful and friendly. Decor is nice and the restaurant is clean and tidy. The carvery however is disappointing. On the last three occaisions i have tried it the veg has been luke warm. The meat portions have been reduced. In reality slices are from jiints that have been quartered and are no longer full sized. So any meat portion is actually tiny. The ham, beef and turkey joints allvseemed much smaller. The price however has not refuced. Poor value for money.

Probably our fault for having a carvery at 2.30 pm on a week day but, apart from the meat, everything else on the plate was really bad (particularly the roasted potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings which had an absolutely awful taste and texture). I actually felt sorry for my girlfriend who insisted on paying for the meal. Also, she paid extra for the pigs in blankets but we never got them. Only realised this when driving back home. Staff was really nice, though, hence not giving one star.

Becca was honestly the best waitress we've had in Scotland! And the food was GREAT!!

Eat here a couple of times a month, as I live locally, my friend and I always have lovely food and great service, the staff are always great. I should probably have left a good review before now but I am leaving a review as Abigail in the restaurant tonight (Monday the 4th November), had a particularly difficult customer and this is to say. I thought she was so professional, courteous and pleasant in a situation which, quite frankly was no win. ( this is just our observation from the next table). This young lady in my opinion is a real credit to your business. ( barbecue sauce). Well done Abi. Keep up the good work.

This Restaurant should come with a health warning... Its not good for your waist.... The food is absolutely delicious.The desserts are moreish.. The service is second to non.. The choice of alcoholic beverages is very good.. My husband and my self planned on two courses a starter and a main. We ended up having 3 courses We will be back. Thank you again

Excellent food which we enjoyed very much. The mixed grill in particular was excellent and the overall cost was tremendous value with the 30% discount offered.

Arrived for our anniversary meal to be told our reservation might not be accommodated so we were sat on bar stools. Food came out and it was cold and wasn’t worth the money. Not sure we’ll be back or recommend to anyone. Been before and it was lovely so it’s gone downhill which is a shame. The lady who took us to our table wasn’t very friendly at all and we found her to be quite abrupt. However, the two lads behind the bar were friendly and accommodating

Had the Sunday roast buffet 😋 everything was hot and food was tasty. There's disabled toilets and parking the main door is a big door so easy access for wheelchairs

Very nice pub, good amount of parking and love that it's dog friendly, just wish more of the pub was dog friendly as we were sat eating our lunch around a load of people sat on bar stools just drinking which wasn't very inviting and there wasn't any salt/pepper on the tables. Carvery was okay, not the best I've had in terms of vegetables offered and the roast potatoes weren't very crispy. That being said, the carvery was a very good price. Would recommend if friends were in the area looking for somewhere convenient to go.

First visit here but had visited its sister venue "steam wheeler" many times. Our waitress was super friendly. However, service was slightly delayed. My friends meal also had to be taken back to be re heated as it was not warmed through correctly. Good value for money despite the issue.

Very pleasant all staff. Andrew, Jeana, and Callum. Breakfast was delicious although more staff needed to top up apllejuice etc. Was made to feel really welcoming, and we had some issues on check in which were sorted at once. Well done, highly recommended!!

The service was excellent, & all the staff were really friendly. Everyone had a smile. The tai vegetable curry was delicious, & the Victoria sponge cheesecake was to die for. We stayed overnight & the room was spotless with a great shower & very comfortable bed. What’s not to love.

Had a wonderful stay at Queen of the Loch in October 2024. A well needed, quiet break. We ate in the pub for most of the stay and the food was served quickly and to my preferences, and was delicious. The staff are lovely, they can't help you enough. Only one thing I would say on the negative, but it is minor, the beds in the twin rooms are tiny and smaller than a standard single. So when you're used to a double or bigger you can sometimes be wary of rolling out but honestly, that was really minor, and we managed. Free on site parking is great and although not applicable to us, the hotel has facilities for electric car charging. The hotel was very clean and quiet and the area itself is quiet and scenic. Overall, I would rate our stay at Queen of the Loch 5/5, and would definitely stay again if ever in the area. Big thanks to the manager Andrew, and bar staff Gina and Callum, who looked after us so well, as did all of the staff but we only caught those names during our many wonderful conversations. Thankyou so much to everyone at The Queen of the Loch.

Came to the restaurant with my parents and two kids as you can imagine eating out with kids can be tough, I was very impressed with the young lady that served us and also calmed my very ill tempered son not only did she calm him down but also got him to put on his much hated bib on and eat his food which was also delicious, will highly recommended this as a family friendly establishment and can I steal Natasha as my nanny! Cannot wait till we visit again!

Excellent food and service, really fair prices too. No complaints there. Went for a carvery on Monday, no one was around so I helped myself as I assumed I could! Can someone at the pub please tell the chef this wasn't personal and was a massive misunderstanding? He seemed extremely upset at this haha! Made me laugh but I do hope he's OK. He seemed really serious about it and I feel pretty bad now. Was a great couple of days.

A nice place to go, especially with dogs as it is not only welcoming, but has dog bowls, water and a selection of biscuits and treats. Staff were all really friendly and helpful, food is what you would expect, with a good menu and well priced. Would go again.

Great place to have a meal and chill

First night in Scotland and stopped in here for a bite. The hot maple chicken wings was definite hit at our table and the carvery sated the hunger. I admit I didn't understand the first thing Abigail our waiter said to us but she spoke slower for us after that and was very helpful - all the staff were friendly and helpful. Not sure if it's a standard thing around here but I also loved that dogs are welcome inside.

We had an excellent stay here our room was very clean the bed was really comfortable and the room was very quiet. You did hear occasional door banging but nothing throughout the night. The shower curtain was a bit short for the side of the bath so we did have some water over the edge but can’t fault the room in anyway. The Queen of the loch pub just across the car park offers really good value for meals and was nice to have a drink there in the evening We didn’t have breakfast, but lots of people were eating breakfast and it did look very nice . Overall a great stay.

Visited here as a family this morning for breakfast. This was a last minute decision driving past and I’m so glad we popped in. Our server Becca was so welcoming and helpful. She stayed patient when it took me so long to be able to have a minute to check the menu thanks to the kids. Food was cooked fresh. Added bonus of the continental breakfast bits along with a cooked breakfast. Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in the area! Becca was an absolute angel and deserves recognition for this within the company

All staff were very welcoming and hard working. Service for both the bar and food was quick and efficient.

Shocking food for the price had carvery never again roast potatoes brick hard needed a steak knife to cut meat

First experience here for dinner. My wife was looking forward to the jacket potatoes as we had seen on the internet menue but I had not seen that it was offered only during lunch time. She ordered lasagna that came with garlic bread and chips and a salad. Good sized portions and definately tated fresh and local. I ordered rump with salad, chips and roasted mushroom cap and half a large roasted tomatoe as well as garden peas. Again generous portions for the price. All the food was great and the rump ( ordered rare) was perfect! Sadly we were so enjoying our meal that I forgot photos but will remedy that next time as we are definately returning next day. Our server, Abigail, was top notch. She was the perfect combination of professional and personable....attentive without being intrusive. Hope they never lose her !

This was our perfect stay in our journey through Scotland. Our room was faultless and the restaurant was a perfect match. Abigail was so welcoming, providing us with all of the information and guidance we required. She assisted us to locate a specific place in Balloch so that we could connect with an organised tour and showed genuine interest in our itinerary, enquiring at later visits to the restaurant how our events had gone. Abigail is the perfect hostess for The Queen of the Loch. Thank you. Ross at the bar was very efficient and great to chat with.

Fuimos a las 6: 30 pm bruja es bastante temprano, pero se habían quedado sin vino y dos de las comidas solicitadas de la comida no estaban disponibles, tenían la mejilla para pedir una propina, la máquina de agarre en el área de juegos para niños estaba roto, y se quedaron sin vasos de postre para hielo - crema Sundaes, y también tuvimos que preguntar alrededor de 2 de las comidas dos veces, ya que simplemente se olvidaron de nosotros Pensé que era impactante ese nivel de servicio

Would highly recommend anyone to try this place, food was superb but waiting staff made it all the better, lovely lass Natasha was dealing with us and was soo lovely and friendly couldn't of done more for us and was so warm and friendly with my children. Makes going out for food with a baby alot easier when restraunts are family friendly like in here will be back soon

My wife and I popped in for dinner this evening, we shared breaded mushrooms (could have been used slightly longer in the fryer) though were nice. I had the gammon whilst my wife had the tikka, both very enjoyable. Natasha and Nicole were lovely! Very lively and always up for a good ol’ chat. We will certainly be returning 🙂👍

Last visit over 4 years ago. We stopped going as service and food was not great. Glad we popped in on the off chance. Food and service have improved 10 fold. Will be back regularly from now on.

Hotel Rating. Reception is located in the pub, not inside the hotel building next door. Simple but very clean and comfortable hotel for a family, since there were 4 of us in the room. We liked it. It also has free parking. The only thing to keep in mind is that it has two floors and no elevator, but otherwise very comfortable.

We chose to come to The Queen of the Loch as we were staying in the area and looking for a dog friendly pub. It was exceptionally dog friendly! There’s a lovely cosy area where dog owners can take their four legged friends and they were happy for our Yorkie to sit up beside us (we take a blanket for her to sit on and she’s good as gold) so that was lovely. Our food was absolutely delicious and came quickly although they did get the order wrong on my husband’s meal (he ordered the beef lasagne with chips instead of garlic bread but it arrived with garlic bread and no chips) but it was soon rectified and he got bowl of chips a few minutes later, plus let him keep the garlic bread by way of apology. We also had to ask for cutlery as the food arrived first, and then we also had to ask again for basic condiments like salt so perhaps you could provide cutlery and condiments at the time of order rather than waiting to bring them (or not bring them in our case!) after the food arrives. This was only a minor thing though and didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the food.
