Corries in West Dunbartonshire

Corries was a great place to eat, but it closed and has now reopened. It is now called MIVA, the food is excellent, the staff are helpful and attentive without being pushy. I would recommend it.

My partner and I took the dog for a walk round the park and wanted some thing to eat but weren't feeling a chippy so we got some sandwiches, rolls and drinks To-Go from Corries. I stood outside with the dog but my partner said the venue, though small, is very pleasant and the staff are all lovely and very friendly. The sandwiches were delicious, very fresh and they came with salad and we had the option to add on some chips too but we both just went for the sandwiches- perfect for a light bite on the move. Good prices too and a very varied menu for if you wanted to sit indoors which we plan to do if we dont have the dog with us next time. Partner said there was lots of cake options too and they all were home-made which we are looking forward to!

A nice warm venue to hide in when the weather is cold and wet. Decent range of food on the menu, service was a bit slow as staff seem distracted by goings on in the kitchen

Fantastic little Scottish breakfast. They had the best haggis we have tried. Their scones were lovely with plenty of cream. They were not the fastest, but their staff was lovely to chat with.

we were 4 vegetarians and they managed to accomodate us and our requests we made a quick stop for brunch and really enjoyed eating in a local place added all the more to our Scotland experience

Tasty hot breakfasts and hot breakfast rolls with tea and coffee all served by pleasant staff although overworked.We had a laugh and a good meal.A brekkie with tea for under £6.

Outstanding service, fantastic quality, delicious homemade steak pie, huge baked potatoes and delightful homebaking. Refreshing to eat lovely food in a very tourist orientated location with reasonable prices and staff who couldn't be more pleasant or helpful.

Wow found this lovely friendly place to eat , we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here over a week , best day was Wednesday for breakfast when 4 locals came in we had such a laugh with them they have been going there for 20 years , that tells you something about a place Morag too great fun with beautiful Scottish people, made our holiday special, food was delicious,, going back next year for sure Thankyou to you all from the Fisher / Howe family.

I have been going to Corries for many years now and have never had any cause to complain, however after today I doubt very much whether I will be back. My wife and I arrived at approx. 13,00 today for a spot of lunch, at this point there were only two tables with anyone sitting at them and one party leaving. We sat at a table and waited as the three girls on duty did everything other that approach us. One of them even started cleaning the children's high chairs although there hadn't been any children using them. After about 15 mins my wife asked one of the girls if we could have a menu as we had been in for some time. She replied that we hadn't received a menu as we hadn't waited to be seated by one of them. If it had been busy then we could have seen the point of that and was something we had always done when we arrived and it was busy, however with only two tables occupied we couldn't see the problem. We decided at that point two leave the premises without ordering anything.

My wife and i decided to drop into Corries on Balloch Road, this is or should i say WAS one of our regular eating places, 3 young girls trying to run a not so busy cafe without much success, table left uncleared for at least 20 minutes after patrons have left and shouting across the café when it states "place speak to a waitress before being seated", They could at least walk 10 steps to address the customer in a professional manner. Now for the food we ordered Macaroni and a Lasagna , the macaroni was tasteless and the lasagna was disgusting, past slices and mince with tinned tomatoes covered in cheap cheddar cheese does not make a lasagna, They also serve the most vile coleslaw which was liquified for some strange reason, Needless to say we will not be back.

Lovely breakfast which included toast and tea. Lovely friendly staff prices are very cheap and should increase as it is such good value. A real wee gem of an eating place.

We asked at the tourist info and they recommend this cafe . Absolutely amazing Scottish breakfast , really tasty and great value would highly recommend

Took a chance based on these reviews and wished we hadn't. Place was grubby and dark and in serious need of a face-lift. Table was not cleaned properly. Service was slow and grumpy even though it wasn't busy. Sandwiches were passable but not great at all. Avoid.

Popped in for two Scottish breakfasts, came with tea and toast - just under £12.00. We were very well fed indeed. Tremendous value. Staff were very welcoming too. Will be going back for sure.

Have occasionally been in for a coffee, no complaints, but often go on Thursday nights when a number of local musicians bring their instruments and provide excellent entertainment. Great atmosphere, reasonable priced drinks, well worth a visit.

We were having a nice family day in Balloch and went to this cafe. The waitresses totally ruined our nice day because they were so rude to us. The one of the waItres thrown the menus to us because we sat on the chair before she cleaned and then we ordered macaroni cheese to our son and our son almost burned his mouth and cried( poor wee one) because the macaroni was too hot for him.

Monday night folk gathering. A very convivial meeting of locals. Cheap beer and a round of sandwiches on offer. What more ....an awesome evening.

Located on the banks of Loch Lomond, cheap, good quality food with great service. Breakfast is especially good value as are the main meal specials. Visit this wee place if you are in or near Balloch, you won’t be disappointed.

Got to the restaurant and waited about 2 minuets to get served after we got served we waited 30 minuets for our food. After it came it was freezing and wasn’t what we ordered. Also the staff are horrible so rude. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. shocking.

I went in to this cafe and stood at the counter as the two service staff walked past several times and ignored me. Finally, one acknowledged me and asked what I wanted, then pointed to a table to sit down, which had not yet been cleaned. I sat there for awhile before it was then cleaned. When the waiter came to clean it, she left a corner unwiped, with crumbs still evident. My toastie came with a tiny dollop of coleslaw and an"uncrisp", and "unfresh" green salad. Don't waste your money on this cafe.

The waiters are clueless, basically had to stare until they took our orders and she still managed to get everything thing wrong on the order. Full Scottish breakfast was not worth the price, one of everything. didn’t come with beans or toast, even asked the waitress for the toast, and she just ignored me and walked off. Would not go again. They need to have a customer service training.

Found Corries after mixed reviews online but thought we’d give it the benefit of the doubt. From the moment you walk in - you have no idea what’s going on! Waited to talk to a waitress to see if we should sit ourselves or if someone would seat us, only really to be looked at with a blank stare. Saw this happen with numerous other groups. No service the entire time - had to walk up ourselves to order, where others (presume locals) had table service.

Lovely well priced cafe. Food very good lots of choices. Very busy not surprised. Just in the town so easy walk.

Popped in for lunch after wee walk. Great all day breakfast, perfectly cooked. Friendly and enthusiastic local staff. Good value.

Came here just for the weekend the small cafe had a great atmosphere. Very old generic music playing with that greasy fry up feel.

We often visit on a weekend for breakfasts and I cannot fault these at all. Loads of toast and butter as part of the meal as opposed to the meagre offering by other places. I've had the full Scottish AND the vegetarian one and not disappointed in the least. We also ate there for lunch and although not overly expensive we found that the portion sizes were less than we would have expected and left still peckish although this may have been a one off.

Called in at lunch time yesterday. There were 4 unoccupied tables, 2 were littered with dirty dishes another with cutlery trays and one full of balloons etc which one member of staff was using.

I had been looking for an authentic Scottish cafe while travelling down the west coast - I couldn’t have found a better one. Corries in Balloch at the foot of Loch Lomond is an oldie worldwide cafe with lots of charm, great service and extensive menu at great prices. I can personally recommend the haggis, neeps & tatties and the mince & tatties. Corries also very kindly let me have a slice of lorne sausage to try - a local way to make sausage and I can confirm it was delicious. A must for top notch Scottish fare.

We attended the Open Mic Night at 9pm on Thursday, I think it’s every Monday and Thursday night. Brilliant night full of extremely talented local musicians. Excellent homely atmosphere and amazing music. Very casual and relaxed. Well worth checking out.

Me and my partner popped in here prior to completing our drive up to Luss. We really enjoyed it. Very homely and tradition. Prices were very good and service was nice too. Would recommend any tourist to pop in and check it out!

We visited on a lovely summer morning and were noted that we could sit outside which we were quite happy with as the decor inside isn’t very pleasant... a little dated although the restaurant is very clean!

Just had an evening meal in the Corries and we were too full to have a sweet so bought some lovely home baking to have for our supper. Staff very efficient and friendly, will definitely be back soon. We may bring the grandchildren as they have an excellent outdoor space.

We had great food here at decent prices and the outside area for kids, albeit a little dated now, was superb and they loved clomping and driving the cars. Will visit again if in the area for sure!

On our recent visit to Scotland we stumbled upon Corries who were having a folk night. We had a great night with the locals and visitors. We were made to feel like part of the crowd. ......even got to play guitar and sing!

Came here for a bite to eat with my friend today after a walk in the area. Upon entering we were not acknowledged at all and there was no indication of whether it was self service or table service, so we took a seat expecting to be served. After a few minutes I went to the counter to ask for menus while the two staff members were chatting to (not serving) two other customers. Once given the menus, one girl told us she would be with us shortly. After deciding what we wanted to eat we sat with our menus closed expecting to be served and still nothing for a few minutes, as the service was taking so long we observed that both staff members were neither serving other customers or clearing tables as the place was not very busy and we became increasingly agitated at the lack of service. Another two customers came in after us and asked for menus, they were brought out to them immediately told about the days special and had a drink order. We waited another few minutes without service and upped and left.

Good food in Balloch. Reasonable prices. Servings are very generous. Was full when I was there suggesting a good turnover.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of time in this lovely little village on the edge of Loch Lomond and the weather wasn’t kind but we managed to find this nice little cafe. It was full of local characters who seemed to have the best window seats reserved however it was warm and cosy if a little dated. The one person serving was friendly and the service was good.

On a visit to Loch Lomond we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in this really delightful tearoom. Among the four of us, we had baked potatoes, sandwiches of various types and fish and chips, accompanied by tea/coffee. The food was excellent value for money and the service was efficient without being overly fussy. We all agreed that this was a place to which we will happily return on future visits to this beautiful area.

Although we only went in for a tea and cappuccino and we were amazed by the prices; only £1 for a tea and under £2 for a cappuccino. Much less than I have paid anywhere else for years. The drinks were great too. Service was prompt and friendly and the place itself was unpretentious. Definitely recommended.

As any local will tell you, the main street in Balloch is notorious for what is generally known as tourist prices. Corries is a refreshing break from that.

They allow children and have a playing area in the background. They allow dogs. Fine!But I have to say, as a meat lover as I am, their rib eye steak is far from great. The Guinness keg must have been open for a while because it wasn't very tasty either. And to be honest, we had to wait a little too much for everything considering that the place was empty.The cheese burger is allright and chicken wings and goujons ok. It's not a bad place to go to be honest, but it wasn't the greatest.

Food okay but service could be improved, staff should not be eating when they have customers waiting for order to be taken. Started our day out to Balloch in Corrie's for breakfast after a member of the tourist information bureau recommended it. Great little place that is very reasonably priced for a super breakfast. Quick and friendly service too. Would definitely return when next in Balloch.

Me and my partner went campi g I rowardennen.. which is lovely... We woke in the morning and as we were leaving . Decided not to cook on the fire / stove in the campsite .. We drove past balmaha. . Too expensive.. drove past drymen... Too expensive (£10.95) a burger. Drove I to balloch. Checked the menus on the window and..... wow.. Just what we needed after a night on the campsite..... homemade lasagne. Macaroni. Steak pie.. hmmmm all day breakfast. £.5.50/ £6.50 We were very pleased that we gave the other places a miss .. what lovely wee pub.. nice staff and food was very quick.. interior is old / rustic but that's what makes a good old scottish pub.. While waiting on our Sweeney cruise, my mom and I walked down here to have lunch. They weren't incredibly quick (there were a lot of people eating) and we ended up taking our food to go and eating it at the cruise. We both got toasties and they were DELICIOUS. I recommend eating here!

called into the Corries restaurant today for lunch.Cannot fault the meal or the price or the friendly staff but the service was slow.The waitress thought we already had our first course and were waiting on our main meal and that's what caused the delay.I think a little bit of organisation is needed from the staff as it all seemed haphazard and disjointed.Apart from that it was a lovely meal and I will certainly go back.

Passing time in Balloch waiting for the train, I passed by Corries and popped in - had a cup of tea and a fruit slice. Both nice.Lovely wee place inside, quite quaint and quirky. Staff lovely.Was all good until I had to use the toilet before leaving. Floor was soaking, there was no toilet roll and no hand towels to dry my hands. I had to wipe my hands on my jeans - felt horrible - went out the loo to see a member of staff with loo roll and hand towels. I had to ask for some, with no apology given.Sorry for the low score Corries - but I couldn't give anything higher.
