The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Stayed at the premier inn for a couple of nights and used the brewers Fayre for dinner. On both occasions, I left without receiving the pudding which I ordered and paid for. The first night, I got a rude reply from the waitress after waiting half an hour after finishing the main, only to get a rude reply. The second night, I asked for the pudding to be provided at the same time as the main, it didn’t arrive, asked a waiter and nothing happened, left after waiting a further thirty minutes. Don’t go here as you will not receive the items you have ordered and paid for.

Enjoyed a lovely evening in Benny ts restaurant. Great food. Good atmosphere. Fish and chips were great. Service was excellent. Kayley did a great job serving us. She was pleasant and well mannered and had a good knowledge of the menu. All the staff were pleasant. We will go back.

Seating needs repair and it nearly put us off which would have been a shame as the food is excellent and the service is good swift and professional

Stopped for coffee and to visit gift shop. Both excellent. Very friendly staff and Jade had really good information about where we were staying. Went back the following day for breakfast that was well cooked and good value. Very comfortable surroundings and spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend.

Lovely location.Excellent coffee but spoilt by dogs being taken out for coffee by their owners/parents.Dogs barking.Get a grip I like dogs but they should not be in cafes and restaurants.

Myself and my husband visited here on 26/04/25. We had drinks at the bar and all of the younger girls serving were absolutely lovely and friendly - a real credit to the place. We also had food which was lovely. Only real negative was that my husband ordered mussels as a main but there were hardly any. They came in a huge pot which was filled less than half and some were closed so couldn’t be eaten. We came here especially for the mussels, which were Really disappointing for the price.

The One Under Bar is a great place to go in St Andrews. The food is good and the pub quiz every Tuesday is a lot of fun. Drinks are moderately priced.

Superb meal, excellent service particularly from Alanah. My Wife and I had a lovely night and we finished it off with an overnight stay.

Great spot to grab a coffee and breakfast. They have good food options and is a quaint and cozy place. I really enjoy their smashed avocado toast.

If visiting the cafe at the front of the building do not order a mocha. It was awful and I had to change it for another drink. I had forgotten that I’d had one there ages ago that was awful too and had to go back. It had virtually no froth on top and was just a cup of dark brown liquid. Not the usual tempting mocha at all. I suspect it was made by hand without the use of a mocha machine perhaps? I usually use the restaurant /cafe in another part of the store and mochas are normal there.

Evening started really well told we had table till 7.30 but then they apologised we had to move got their times wrong. Ended up in the conservatory with no atmosphere or heating or guests so was about to leave when the lovely lady from the bar came to see if we would like another drink. We explained that we weren’t happy and was going to leave, she was so lovely and apologetic and went to see if there was a spare table in the bar and she found use one. Our evening ended up being a really enjoyable one with 2 more rounds of drinks and a fabulous cheese board.

The castle is very worth a visit. I love this location!!We only went as far as the shop and restaurant. The food wasn’t great. I definitely wouldn’t recommend.
