A truly good restaurant, with good food, good service, and super views of the Forth Bridges. A particular note of thanks to Ellie, for GREAT service!! It always makes such a difference to a visit to a restaurant, when you are served by someone who is efficient, and has a nice personality!! Food was excellent....particular mention of the Mussels...fantastic! Keep up the good work!!

While visiting my parents, we decided to take them out for dinner at Samphire. We were not disappointed. We got a table with amazing views across the Forth, the staff were all friendly and the food was amazing.....even our 6 y.o managed 3 courses without complaint. I'd recommend giving it a look. I think 1 star reviews from nerly a decade ago should be removed from Trip Advisor as this isn't fair on the business. Staff, menus and decor will have changed in that time, not forgetting the whole pandemic thing we had going on for a bit!

We visited the restaurant today for high tea. The meal was lush and very substantial portions . There was 5 in our party. Each had a different choice .great value for money Lovely young waitress . We asked for table at window , for our elderly parents . Which was wonderful

A very nice experience in this wonderfully positioned restaurant with views to the three bridges. There is an extensive terrace and pleasant seating areas inside. We enjoyed the more traditional Sunday lunch which was served by delightful staff. The food was well presented and excellent. Certainly recommended.

We've been to Orroco Pier many times and it's usually great. Amazing view, and nice food. However, it is not a place to bring a baby until they can sit in a highchair (6 months +). The last time we brought our 4 month old we requested a spot where a pram could fit. We got a booth however, they are too narrow between the table and seat to safely cradle or discreetly feed the baby. This time round, we specifically asked not to be placed in a booth but somewhere we could slot in a pram. We got given a booth again, this time, right next to the kitchen pass. This caused our baby to overheat. After removing some layers, I then had to feed/hydrate them inna chair in the middle of the floor that looked directly into the pass. On the way out, we noticed other seating locations in the samphire bar that would be much more suitable and there are also tables and free standing chairs that can be reconfigured to accomadate young babies. Disappointing our request was ignored. If it couldn't be accommodated, a phonecall would have been appreciated sonwe could reconsider our options! For now, I would not recommend this as a suitable place to bring young babies for a family lunch. Which is a real shame.

Great food at the Orocco tonight. A perfect ending to a holiday in the outer Hebrides. Aby, our waitress, had excellent knowledge of the wine, the food and the cheese. Nut roast was excellent (on a Sunday), Malaysian chicken very flavoursome and the cheeseboard superb. The gluten free biscuits work well too. What a discovery. Highly recommended!

A most enjoyable meal. Delicious food, presented beautifully. Excellent service, warm and friendly making it a wonderful first evening out after lock down. Thank you Orocco Pier.

Food beautiful, Camembert and prawn starters very tasty. Good service and quick, only down side the juice was tasteless like soda water no syrup had to ask for replacement and still not great waiter a little short when asked for replacement

We ate here as part of our 'date night' package deal at Orocco Pier. Due to COVID restrictions we were the only people dining as we ate after the cut off time for non-residents, but the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We also tried their mocktails, and they were fab. We've been before and will definitely be back again!!

Buen ambiente en el restaurante también, que no siempre es el caso en este momento.Altamente recomendado.

Decidimos comer aquí en nuestra segunda noche de nuestras vacaciones y quedamos muy impresionados con todo lo que se hizo, especialmente bajo las restricciones de Covid - 19.Cuando entramos, todo se sentía relajado y tranquilo y, aunque el personal usaba máscaras faciales para protegerse de los clientes y del riesgo de propagación de Covid, aún se aseguraron de que comer fuera aún pudiera ser placentero y agradable para todos. Todas las mesas estaban socialmente distantes y se proporcionaron menús de papel que nunca se retiraron para evitar la propagación de la enfermedad (incluido un pago con tarjeta en lugar de efectivo).Para empezar, tuvimos el calamar con sal y pimienta, que estaba muy bien. Un montón de chiles y el calamar estaba ligeramente rebozado y un buen entrante. Luego vinieron las comidas (Tempura Langostinos y Pollo al Curry). Primera cita por la noche en un rato. Me preguntaba cómo se cumplirían los requisitos de distancia social sin dejar de conservar el ambiente de antes de CoVid. Sí, al principio es extraño ser atendido por personal con máscaras, pero pronto se siente normal y te olvidas de todo.Orocco Pier es local para nosotros y hemos estado muchas veces a lo largo de los años para comidas, cumpleaños y celebraciones de bodas. La comida y el servicio nunca han decepcionado. Además, los cócteles son increíbles. Fantástica ubicación para citas por la noche, cumpleaños, noches de chicas, etc., etc. . . un restaurante realmente puede marcar todas las casillas.

Fuimos a Queensferry por una tarde en un hermoso día cálido. Elegimos Orocco Pier como habíamos estado antes. Estábamos en la terraza, hermosa vista. Todo estaba bien organizado y la comida era buena. El personal era muy bueno, pero el servicio era lento ya que estaban muy ocupados.Recomendaríamos este restaurante.

La verdad que a sido una experiencia fantástica las vistas son espectaculares y el servicio muy bueno y todo súper li mpio y muy bien organizado todo para evitar ningún tipo de contagio y se sientes real mente bien y el fish and chips real mente bueno y de verdad el staff espectacular muy buen trabajo y seguro que volveremos!!!

Last minute booking for dinner. Lovely and safe welcome, with the new safety measures. Great menu with varied choice. Food was lovely, service great. Managed to finish our drinks on the lovely balcony. Would definitely recommend for food and/or drinks. Wish we could have got a window seat to enjoy the view with our meal, maybe next time.

It’s strange when a place becomes popular to the point when they have too many things happen at onceOrocco pier is a great place After booking a table for 4 weeks before we had to wait for nearly 20 mins for the table to be ready mmmm ok I understand just ! It was an early evening booking but no no the table was not ready. Ok there was a wedding party in with many many people which I suppose added to the nights atmosphere We were at our table at last. Then , this is where it me not being patient but come on 20 mins before they took the order ! But they did take the drink order as we originally sat down!Food arrived and the steak was medium and I asked for medium rare, but I said nothing as it was pretty good My wife got her main almost thrown at her because the server could not actually reach over the other people at the table behind mmmm that then made me think that there was not much space around the tables Now the bill. All ok with price but I could not understand what some of the meanings meant but the price was fair. I normally pay by card but this night I had cash. Great , I paid and I expected them to return with a selection of money and coins. I hardly ever tip as well I don’t get tips in my job .... but that’s a complete other discussion. On this occasion my wife told me to. I expected the change being £20 something to be returned in a few notes and coins but they returned it with an actual £20 note. I’m sorry but a half knowledgable server would give the customer an opportunity to leave a tip by giving them plenty of change They never got anything as I was not going to leave £20All n all this place has good food great food ! but I personally think it’s trying to be something that it’s not.

La música ambiental y de volumen adecuado ayudó a la atmósfera gentil; la vista de Por supuesto impresionante, y nuestro camarero, encantador, educado y atento, todos ayudaron a que esta mordedura espontánea sea aún más memorable.Los langostinos eran para morirse, la barriga de cerdo levantó los pulgares, desafortunadamente el vino no era lo suficientemente atractivo como para pedir un segundo vaso. Sin embargo, en resumen, un lugar maravilloso para disfrutar de una buena comida, un ambiente agradable y unas vistas impresionantes. . . . más digno de un retorno.

My wife and I drove through from Glasgow for an overnight stay at Norton House. We chose Samphire because of the location not fancying the hussle and bustle of Edinburgh (so glad we did). Driving conditions were bad as storm “Ciara” was battering Scotland. As we arrived at Samphire it looked as though the worst was over. We were warmly greeted by 2 lovely staff and were informed that there was 2 separate dining rooms and 2 different menus. A more casual bar and a restaurant.After a quick look around both rooms it was plain to see both areas had fantastic views of the bridges. We chose the restaurant as we both fancied seafood and also it was also a little quieter,perfect for an intimate lunch. We were seated at a window seat without asking which just enhanced our experience. We were served by another friendly waitress,drinks arrived promptly and our food order was duly taken. My wife ordered the haggis starter and I ordered the calamari and I was immediately told that I had made a great choice.... which got my wife’s curiosity going and she plumped for the calamari as well. Honestly got to say it’s some of the best we have eaten sooo fresh and cooked to perfection in a light crispy batter. For mains we shared the “moules frites” and the langoustine. Again the quality and the taste was outstanding the langoustine were delicious,the mussels in a garlic/parsley sauce were lovely but my only gripe they were a little small(maybe not in season). We skipped dessert and decided to sit in the bar area for coffee and enjoy the view and ambience. As we sat and chatted the weather had taken another turn for the worst so we decided to leave and head to our hotel. So all in all stunning views fantastic food great service and can only finish by thanking everyone involved in our “Perfect Storm”.⚓️

Honestly it begs belief that a restaurant of this standard would call you up a couple of weeks after you made your booking online for Valentine’s Day demanding a deposit to be paid within 24hours or the booking would be cancelled. Let’s just make this very clear I have no issue paying the deposit for the booking this should of been made aware to me at the time of booking and as I have been out of the country with work I didn’t receive the voicemail on my private phone until I returned therefore now my booking has been cancelled complete disgrace and extremely rude of the company and staff that decided to do this.

Called into Orrocco Pier one wet and windy evening with no reservation. Although the restaurant was busy we were shown to a table straight away. Drinks arrived shortly after as did our food. The Seabass was the nicest I had tasted. I couldn't fault it at all. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh. Certainly worth a visit. 5 *s

A beef burger so overcooked that knife and teeth found it hard to cut and then chew . No bread offered at the table and only one edible but insipid dish presented and dispatched . Others left unfinished . The chef and management seemed satisfied to present food as an utterly shameful travesty of itself , such as the chips which appeared and tasted double cooked ie yesterday and today . We did not stay for dessert, because we had suffered enough.

Visited with family including a toddler granddaughter! Staff lovely and helpful. Two of our party have food allergies and I am vegetarian, the restaurant had absolutely no trouble accommodating our needs. I love the brunch alternatives on the menu, mine was delicious. The view of the Rail Bridge was amazing and we had great fun with our granddaughter train spotting!

Estabamos en familia. Fue horroroso. Tardaron casi tres cuartos de hora en servirnos la comida. Mal servicio, pero lo peor es la calidad de la cocina y la comida servida. No se les ocurra pedir mejillones. No saben hacerlos. Lo demás igualmente mal cocinado. No merece ni un estrella. Por lo demás carisimo, carisimo.

Las vistas son espectaculares y la comida muy buena. Sin embargo, pensé que el servicio era un poco lento. Tuvimos un vuelo temprano desde Edimburgo a la mañana siguiente y tardó un poco en salir. Mi esposo finalmente tuvo que ir al bar y pedir el cheque. La comida, sin embargo, llegó rápidamente y estaba deliciosa. Mi marido tenía la lubina y dijo que era excelente. Tuve las gambas y realmente las disfruté también. Otro miembro de nuestro grupo tenía los mejillones en la salsa de vino blanco y estaba entusiasmado con ellos. Great spot for dinner - get a table near the windows which have great views of the old Forth rail bridge. Steaks were fabulous service good and a nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced with a great bar you can sit at and a terrace outside if the weather is good.

Food was fabulous would highly recommend and would definitely return.a little bit expensive but was worth it food was so good cooked to perfection. Staff lovely. Views spectacular

We were excited to try Samphire at Orocco Pier while in Edinburgh after it being recommended to us from quite a few people.

Good friendly service although a little slow. Grilled langoustines were very tasty. Nice view over the bridge at night. Only think I didn't like was that music was too loud.

We had a fantastic lunch there one Saturday choose this restaurant because of the seafood selection & the great views. Recommend you book table. Staff were very friendly & helpful & although the restaurant was busy service was excellent throughout lunch.

Visited this restaurant with 4 work colleagues; first thing to note is it’s a very busy place with lots of tables so be prepared to wait a little while. The wine list was very good as was the quality on offer, the place itself is modern and contemporary with a stunning view over the Forth estuary.

Took family visiting from the states for lunch here today, it was rather disappointing to say the least. Staff were friendly, although service was very slow. Meals were disappointing, when children won’t eat the chips you know you have a problem. My battered haddock was not nice at all and even though I left most of the food on my plate, it was never questioned why. There was a wedding party on and they were returning their meals, not what you want for your wedding. Suffice to say we won’t be trying it again

This was our second visit to this restaurant. Its unique selling point is its view over the Firth of Forth. During the first visit the food was good and given the unbeatable views we decided to go for the Sunday roast experience. Ths runs almost for the whole day so it was still available by the time we arrived at 18.30. We all opted for the veal, especially as we thought that it was an unusual choice. The staff seemed to be totally uninformed about how the food was prepared (at the end of the day it was done medium rare, which was fine) and were unable to provide any helpful information about the accompanying vegetables etc. When the food arrived we were not offered the proper utensiles and we had to ask a couple of times for service spoons. The staff seemed to be ttally oblivious to what was needed to serve the food and perhaps surprised that we needed spoons to get the potatoes from oru plates!

Great seafood, good service and fabulous view. Nice decor and spacing between tables. Sadly we were a bit rushed for time and ordered a multi course meal, but the staff was very accommodating. The lobster and langoustines were very nice and if we lived locally, we'd definitely return often. Well run and well done!

Went today for our anniversary meal. Service was superb and the meal was delicious. We got the Sunday roast to share. The roast beef was cooked perfectly, the potatoes, carrots and minted peas were very nice too. Portion size was great too. Dessert was yummy too.

We had lunch here with friends that we hadn't seen for a while and were really impressed with the view and food. I ordered the mussels and fries which were perfectly done and the broth was delicious. We never felt rushed, order drinks and really enjoyed our time with our friends.

Lovely food and a superb setting, but an utterly surreal, mystifying experience. We were shown to our table by someone who obviously cared about customers, and we were promptly served and ordered drinks and our food.

Excellent view, widest selection of menu (also for drinks) I have seen in greater Edinburgh area. Good service and even quite modest pricing. This was a really good find - Happy!

Really good restaurant in South Queensferry! Great food! (Amazing haggis burger for Burn's night!!) And great and helpful service as well (even on a very busy night)! Really recommend!

The café bar part of this establishment is popular and noisy, with sports channel distracting from Forth views, but the Samphire restaurant is fantastic, staff are friendly and this is just right for dining. We had late breakfast and cream tea morning break so were not requiring large portions and were pleasantly surprised to find a Brunch section on the menu. These were perfect, portions larger than starters and smaller than mains and the selection and flavours were fabulous. Avocado toast, minute steak sandwich, chickpea falafel or Asian noodle salad with squid, all were delicious. Large range of wines by the glass as well as bottles, varying glass sizes from 125ml to 250ml and very reasonably priced food at high quality, topped with stunning sea views. Highly recommended, hope they don't change a thing.

Lovely varied menu, they really didn't take advantage with the price of things and could have easily charged more for the quality of the food and the beautiful location. This meal was very enjoyable and staff very attentive.

Decent mid market restaurant. All the usual dishes you expect and a focus on fish/seafood. Staff were fantastic. Accommodations were made for our baby.

Had the prosecco and seafood platter for two on Tuesday - fabulous. Just heavenly. Great service and wonderful value for money.

Beutifull view , average food which made both myself and wife unwell . Sorry to say but you can't balance quality of food and restaurant views into total dinning experience. We both had breakfast stack then mussels..

On a Saturday morning visit to South Queensferry we stopped in for Brunch. Great views across the Forth and looking out to the bridges, decor inside modern and welcoming.

The lunch was lovely - sea bass served on a bed of greens with small lightly fried potatoes - delicious. Service very friendly.

Staff were grumpy and management focused on money not service. Dampened the evening with my family. Spent over £110. Feel upset that I chose this place. Never again whilst the same manager continues.

We had Dinner here on New Years Day, the food was absolutely delicious, the staff were brilliant and the guys running the bar making cocktails were amazing. Will be back!

Quite simply the best meal I've had in ages!

Went here for dinner with my partner and was blown away with the quality of the food and the service provided. Lovely restaurant with the most stunning of views. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

I had mentioned on my booking that it was our anniversary and also that I am gluten and dairy intolerant, both of which the staff were not aware of. The music was so loud it was difficult to have a romantic dinner, also the couple on the next table were so close we felt part of their conversation. The food was able to be amended to my dietary requirements but the prawns I had as a starter were soaking in an inch of water at the bottom of the salad. My main course when it eventually came was in 2 separate pots on a wooden board, no plate given, I had to ask for one and the pot for my tagine was very hot and because I wasn't warned of this when I was given a plate, I burned my fingers. We were both disappointed in our first visit to the restaurant and will probably not be back.

We’re went there for dinner , staff nice and warm welcome, but after that left us to long to order the drink and food not that busy night Monday day night ,food not fresh over cooked, oysters got smelly we had complained but no manager or someone come up , with the main course we ordered shells to share look unexpected £44 price with 2 oysters 1scallop some prawns small haft lobster some mussels and othe shells , I was ask and complain that £44? For sharing? Staff say yes . I’m definitely not recommend to visit, and I will not return again.this photo price £44 what you think.

After reading the menu on the wall we decided to try this restaurant. The service was extremely slow we waited about 15mins before we had our drinks and a further 10mins before anyone took our food order. As a pesceterian i was between the fish and the one vegetarian option they had as a main. The choice was easy made due to the vegetarian option not being available. The food arrived and to be honest was distinctly average for the prices. The fish and chips were greasy and the smoked haddock in cheese sauce was luke warm. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there was plenty staff available so no reason for slow and distinctly average service.

Three words! A Maze Ing!! Great bar staff fantastic service! Great menu choice superb service very quick delivery of food even though party in excess of 22 Unbelievable free vista views of Forth Bridges —. Really well worth a visit even if visiting Edinburgh!

Took friends there for a meal , who were visiting from New Zealand . Usually lovely food and service the only thing it had going for it today was the view. Been there lots of times and it was always excellent, don’t think we’ll be back for a while. Fish chowder was tasteless, tomato basil soup was far too spicy. The Thai red curry was so so spicy I had to run to bar for water. We did mention the tomato soup to waitress as soup shouldn’t be burning your mouth off. But the face said it all I don’t think we were first to complain. When I said chef has been heavy handed with spices got no reaction. Left feeling very disappointed and annoyed

Great restaurant with one of the best tables in the place having great views of the illuminated bridge. Seafood mixed platter and Thai mussels were some of the best we’ve tasted. Finley the waiter made our evening, such a polite talkative young man who should be recognised for his excellent customer service, a credit to the restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

We wanted to celebrate our daughters engagement and decided to try this restaurant - it’s has fantastic views and although our welcome was a bit clinical, the food was really excellent. Our daughter is gluten free but despite putting this on the booking and advising the greeter on arrival, the waitress had little knowledge about each items suitability which resulted in significant “double checking”. The sharing boards are ridiculously expensive and not overly well stocked, but the actual nominated items seemed more reasonable. I was astonished that the waitress made such a mess of removing the cork from our bottle of wine to the point where she took it away for backup assistance.

After getting married at Orocco Pier my wife and I thought we would celebrate our anniversary with a meal at the Orocco Pier Samphire Restaurant.

Had a beautiful seat looking out over the bridges for my wife and I's anniversary. Food was lovely, had the full vegetarian breakfast and the avocados and poached eggs on toast, along with two lovely fresh drinks. Service was great, thanks to Brodie for looking after us. Will be back soon !!

Visited Samphire recently for breakfast to celebrate my aunt's 88th birthday. The Full Scottish was delicious and the scrambled eggs were the best my aunt and mum had ever eaten!!! The staff were exceptionally nice and made it a lovely experience for us all. And the view, of course, was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

We were treated to a meal by my son and his partner for our 30th Anniversary.

Very dissapointed went along to have lunch with my husband and I must say I wouldn’t go back .There was nothing about it I can say was good food rubbish atmosphere none

There’s no question that the view is fantastic. They charge £4.90 for tap water even though we also ordered wine and large bottle sparkling mineral, priced the same. Enough said, we wont be back. I found the food passable, not enough to choose this restaurant over the others in South Queensferry which serve far higher standard.

Nice place with good vibes. Very tasty food, had pepper steak and some lovely red wine. The views are fantastic, and the service nice and friendly.

Fuimos a un almuerzo de reunión familiar, basado en la recomendación. Excelente servicio, entorno maravilloso y vistas. Más importante aún, la comida fue absolutamente fabulosa. Productos de calidad, excelente cocina y vino sólido / menú de bebidas. Todos tuvimos una selección de comidas a base de pescado / mariscos y superó las expectativas. No podría recomendarlo más y no puedo esperar para volver!

We enjoyed a family meal - all food was tasty and delicious. Service was good also. Great views of the bridge. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing!!!

Disfrutamos de la comida, pero me decepcionó que tuve para unirse a una multitud en el bar para realizar mi pedido a pesar de personal que sirve las mesas alrededor. Comida fue servida en la mesa de fuera y cuando pedí un vaso de agua me dijeron que me tengo que ir dentro de la orden. No muy buen servicio al cliente.

We dined on the deck overlooking the water on a marble table. I found the choice of entrees insufficient, but the mussels and squid appetisers were delicious.

Mi pareja y yo visitamos aquí después de oír cosas buenas sobre el restaurante, lamentablemente no siento lo mismo. En el transcurso de la cena creo que nos sirve de cada miembro del personal. La comida era inexpresivo y demasiado caro. Teníamos una fuente compartir muy floja buscando comenzar que ni siquiera toque los lados entonces principal pedí pescado, que era en realidad un pescado entero, con los ojos y aletas aún conectado, esto no era claro en el menú. Mi pareja pidió el solomillo medio raro y se sirve bien hecho la primera y la segunda vez, sin embargo en este punto él hambre que él simplemente comimos. No estoy seguro si la comida estaba por debajo de la media, ya que había una función que tengan lugar al mismo tiempo y les dieron un trato preferencial? En general nuestra experiencia fue satisfactoria y a pesar de ello claro educadamente personal nos ofrecieron ninguna compensación o disculpa. No recomendaría este restaurante a cualquiera y que no volveremos.

We had lunch here on the way to the airport. It’s situated to the shore so at least from the terrace there is a great view to all three bridges. Interior is a bit dark, but nice. Food was good and so was the service. Excellent place for lunch.

Llegamos temprano para cenar la última noche y estábamos sentados en el bar para tomar una copa. El personal era muy acogedor y agradable. Era fascinante verlos preparar una gran variedad de bebidas para los huéspedes.

La comida bastante mediocre y caro para las porciones. Tenía el pollo Bang Bang que estaba seco con verduras cocidas. Pescado era agradable, pero las patatas fritas eran terribles. Fue derritiendo y ruibarbo no relación calidad-precio. Nos dijeron que esto era un muy buen lugar para comer, pero por desgracia no tuvimos la experiencia de eso.

Book early & request a table next to the window. There are also tables & chairs outside on the shore for drinks. Food was lovely & service was great!

The reception desk staff in the restaurant needs to improve their manners, very poor welcome.

We had lunch on a Saturday when the whole place was very busy. There was obviously a wedding in the function suite and the restaurant was full. In spite of this, the staff were extremely attentive, slick and helpful. Food arrived with just the right wait between courses and somehow our booth seemed like a haven of peace and good food :)
