**PRIVATE WEDDING PARTY** We eloped to Canada and always intended on celebrating with a post-elopement party for our closest friends and family. After searching for the perfect venue, we found The Blackbird, and from the moment we stepped inside, we knew it was the one. Setting: The Blackbird is truly a gem. The layout is spacious, offering a variety of areas for our guests to mingle and enjoy themselves. The highlight for us was the beautiful beer garden, which provided a relaxed atmosphere for everyone to gather, play beer pong, and soak up the sun. We were *SO* impressed by the venue's flexibility; Ali, Jack and the team were incredibly accommodating, allowing us to rearrange furniture and customize the space to match our vision. They genuinely wanted to help us create the best experience possible, and it showed. Food: The food was nothing short of spectacular! Our guests raved about it, many declaring it the best wedding food they had ever had! The kitchen staff was fantastic, addressing all dietary requirements with ease and creativity. It was just what we needed to keep the energy up and the celebrations flowing throughout the night! Staff: One of the standout aspects of our experience was the team at The Blackbird. Ali, Jack, and everyone else were incredibly supportive and friendly. They made us feel at ease from the start, always ready to answer our questions and handle any last-minute requests. Their positive attitude and willingness to help created a relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to truly enjoy our celebration without stress. We feel so lucky to have chosen The Blackbird as the venue for our special night. It set the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening filled with laughter and joy. Our guests, from the youngest to the oldest, had an amazing time, and we received countless compliments about how fantastic the party was! We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate our marriage <3 THANKS THE BLACKBIRD!

Cozy bar and restaurant with good and friendly service. I recommend their pulled pork sandwich and eat in their backyard if the weather is right. I can imagine it's super nice to sit out there in the evening and have drinks with friends 😄

Hi. I visited this establishment this afternoon to take my daughter for lunch after a rather stressful medical appointment. We walked in to find the place quiet and relaxed. We were met with a waitress who asked what we would like and we said initially drinks. We were led to the rear beer garden as we wanted to make the most of the sun. The waitress then came back to us and told us we could qr scan the code at our table for menus as by this time we were keen on having food. This was the last communication we had with anyone for 40 mins. We waited and waited and no one came to see us. We were both mentally exhausted after the earlier appointment and didn't have the will to go and seek out service as the place was so quiet we couldn't understand why we weren't getting served. We then walked out and even made eye contact with the waitress on leaving. We just wanted to enjoy some peace and lunch in the beer garden but sadly this doesn't seem to be on offer at the blackbird. I will not be back after this.

Pub looking place little bit down to street. Had a fine food and beer was good. Although, bear in mind that pictures and reviews in Google maps are outdated, i noticed that when came there. Not sure is it even same bar/restaurant anymore, bit mixed information. Different menu, it’s mains are sandwiches. Good ones though.

Tuvimos una espera muy larga entre pedir y recibir nuestra comida, el personal preguntó si queríamos más bebidas entre pedir y recibir nuestra comida, pero no nos mantuvo informados sobre cuándo podríamos ver nuestra comida, que resultó ser de 45 minutos. Eso fue después de una espera lo suficientemente larga para ordenar en primer lugar. Entiendo que el número de invitados puede ser impredecible y por lo tanto la cocina podría tener respaldo, pero es por eso que necesita mantener informados a los clientes. Solo nos dijeron que la cocina estaba ocupada en pedir, y no hay indicación del tiempo de espera. Y la mesa de 4 que entró después de nosotros nos sirvieron mucho antes, presumiblemente porque la camarera pidió su pedido mientras nos rendimos y pedimos en el bar. La comida era una buena relación calidad-precio, pero no vale la pena la espera y no excepcional - sándwiches de focaccia - el lugar un buen rato de domingo, solo hay que trabajar en la comunicación cuando está ocupado. Un "Siento la espera" en realidad llegó cuando la comida estaba en la mesa y la camarera ya estaba de espaldas a nosotros.

Had some sandwiches and skinny fries here last week. Nice outdoor dining, and a sunny afternoon helps. The food was below par though. I’m always surprised when a chef offers something unique, like these fancy, but expensive, sandwiches, and then doesn’t do them justice. Mainly bread with a very thin spread of whatever else it comes with (says several things, but couldn’t really see them), and then charges an additional £9 for two portions of fries that were so small on the plate they could’ve made one portion up if you put them together. Very disappointed. £17.50 for one meal. Should’ve had more love put into it.

We went there yesterday because it was only 5 minutes away from our accommodation and we didn't feel like going to these typical tourist restaurants... and it was really a great decision! gr We have never eaten such delicious sandwiches made from focaccia bread before 😍The sweet potato fries were also great!! The IPA beer also tasted great!! The staff was very friendly and totally attentive...We'll definitely be back...🫶

We liked the sound of their new sandwiches on offer. They start at £12, so expected nice quality food. I ordered the crispy fish. It was a thin slice of frozen oblong fish in batter . It was grey and silvery, and broke up easily. Not a fillet. The bread was most of the sandwich. Two large slabs of focaccia, and little filling. I couldn’t eat the bread. It was too thick. We ordered two portions of fries with rosemary salt. We got two half filled bowls of over cooked and greasy fries. They weren’t appealing at all. After we’d finished, we saw other orders going out and everyone got full bowls of golden fries. I think as we were first that we got some lunchtime fries that were cooked and not used, and then fried again with the salt on them, as we had old burnt salt at the bottom of the bowls. I mentioned this when we got the bill, but the server didn’t seem too interested. Her service otherwise was excellent though. Very disappointing.

Staff are really cool. Food is most limited to say the least. Selection of beers is the worst in the Tollcross area. Pub lacks ambition or inspiration. Beer garden nice but obviously limited use. Bennet's or Cloisters a better bet for beers and ambience.

There is a wide variety of beer and food, and the staff is friendly. Buffalo chicken was very tasty. I ordered a small size, but there were 8 of them, so I was satisfied.

We stopped for dinner by chance. In Edinburgh there are many pubs where you can have a beer and eat because the restaurants close early, not like in Spain, and everything was very delicious.

Been a firm favourite for a long time, was recently in and had the buffalo wings and a burger as well as a few refreshments - gets better and better every time! Great drinks, great food, lovely staff! Would give them 6 stars if I could!

Good for a pub meal after the cinema or a catch up with friends. We didn’t realise that all the food would arrive at once so we didn’t request for our small sharing plates to arrive before the main courses. It would have been useful if the server had told us this. However, even though everything arrived together, it was a minor annoyance as it was all delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient, despite the place being busy.

Nice bar , attentive bar staff and great choice of whiskey. Beer garden with canvas roof and surrounded with walls to keep the wind away, also have heaters for the chilly nights. Good choice of background music.

A nice cosy spot for some drinks and food. The food is good, though pricey for what it is, though standard for Edinburgh these days. The highlight for me was the halloumi fries. Often when I eat halloumi fries they squeak against my teeth which I hate, but these were soft and really well seasoned. As an IPA fan I was a bit disappointed that they only had Gladeye, but it did hit the spot. Service was friendly if a bit slow. Overall I would recommend this place and their beer garden too.

Limited choice of certain branda of spirits & soft drinks. Didn't have food though table water was immediately put in front of us and there's waiting staff even for a drink. Very loud music. Not sure bout the style/vibe. Not for me, wouldn't go back.

Nice pub with a good atmosphere and very helpful staff. The food however is very mediocre. I had a burger which lacked any sort of flavour and was absolutely dripping with water. It was 12 quid and didn't come with chips. The menu is very limited as well. If you're just going for a drink one evening it's a great place but I wouldn't recommend for a meal. Needs a menu overhaul.

The Blackbird is great. It's got good food, with a few veggie/vegan options, a separate area for dining if you want it, and good service. It has modern bar/pub decor with character and lots of exposed stone. Interesting and comfortable and it feels good. The highlight for sure is a large and interesting beer garden, with lots of seating and cover and some heaters. It's a good spot for most weather. One of very few places like this in the Tollcross / Bruntsfield area. Definitely recommended.

Not a particularly inspiring menu, burger was ok. Excellent friendly staff. Reasonable wine, which didn't burn a hole in your wallet.

Watch out for the extra 10% on the bill!!! The food was average and the chicken was touch - no wonder they served it with a steak knife! Was shocked to be presented with a bill with service charge added with no discussion.

Estuvimos de vacaciones en Edimburgo y paramos aquí para comer. La verdad que estaba todo muy bueno aunque tardaron un poco en servirnos. Es un local que admite animales y a parte de tener comedor dentro también hay terraza. Los baños estaban muy limpios, cosa de agradecer y el chico que nos atendió fue muy amable.

Great spot for a casual night out. Not a huge selection of food on the menu but what was there was really good. I struggled to get through the chicken drumsticks and my husband really enjoyed the fish burger.

Excellent lunch , only small complaint coleslaw was not to our taste but with added mayo was fine .Chicken burger delicious and friend said beef burger tasted very homemade and enjoyed it

Stopped in here on the way home. A beautifully presented pub. We had lunch and were pleasantly greeted by a fancy new menu with some delicious food. Can reccomend the 'Carne ASADA Fries'. Everything was great, do yourself a favour and get down here!

Lovely spot on Morrison Street for a drink with friends. Service was quick, polite and friendly. Seating choices are comfortable and the place looks modern, plus cosy.

It’s a nice little restaurant to have some drinks, they also have a nice beer garden which is a bit more spacious than the inside. There tends to be a great atmosphere and with a wide variety of drink options.

Really nice food but I felt like service was a bit slow at times. Loved that there was vegan ice cream so I could enjoy a dairy free desert, it was delicious.

We went here on a deal. I didn't enjoy my meal enjoy to feel I'll ever go back. I got the Chicken burger, when it came out, it looked the part. Alas it was style over substance. The chicken itself was fairly small, much smaller than the beef burger (partner had). One side of the chicken was super thin, rising up to the other being a bit thicker. It was soft, being brined in buttermilk. I couldn't figure out whether it was supposed to have a coating or not, see picture. It came with red lettuce on, which leaked lots of moisture as I picked up the bun, not great for eating and watered the flavour down. Overall it was much too sweet, brioche bun is sweet and the some sweet mayo, pineapple maybe. I had to eat the chicken on its own, to taste it, it got lost in the mess. Full price for the Chicken burger alone is £10. I would be very disappointed at that price. Chips were £4.50, seems very expensive for very average frozen French fries. No way these are made fresh. The guts of £15 for a great looking, but very mediocre Chicken Burger and chips. I could not recommend.

Outstanding cozy bar with exceptional service. What a great ambience. You are very well look after here. A great place for a beer and bite to eat at a reasonable price. The menu is fantastic. Hats off to "Lucy" who looked after me really well and made sure I was happy. Excellent service and cant wait to be back.

Being the last game here in edinburgh of the Six Nations Scotland v Ireland just about everywhere was fully booked but we luckily happened upon the Blackbird on Leven Street which wasn’t overly busy and took a great seat in the window with plush comfortable settee . The staff were on us immediately and coffee served. The menu was interesting with breakfast rolls, the full Scottish, Eggs Benedict amongst others. We opted for the full Scottish x 3 which was just perfect with all items cooked perfectly although they forgot to plate the bacon, easy mistake and as it was maple cured I really wanted it. The server went straight to the kitchen and brought out a large plate of delicious crispy maple cured sweet streaky and it was well worth the wait. Many of these breakfasts can be a disappointment with pre cooked items tepid lying around waiting to be served but not here, you could tell everything was prepared fresh and a good clean sunny side up fried egg to accompany the good quality sausages, black pudding, haggis slice, tomato, tattie scone large mushroom and hash brown with brown sauce and sourdough toast. I personally do not like baked beans on a breakfast and either did my friend but they let us swap the beans for an extra sausage which was appreciated. Very attentive happy smiling staff on hand checking everything was okay made for a very enjoyable Sunday brunch.

Food reasonable quality rather limited menu options. Had a burger. Decor nice enough and atmosphere ok but quite loud if you're looking to talk but in the summer months I'm sure the outdoor best garden would be good. Chap serving us was very welcoming. ==>You can use your taste card for two for one here and if you've got a Cineworld card you can get taste card free!

Had a great time here yesterday having a catch up with my friend. Very good service, dog friendly and some absolutely unreal cocktails even some off menu which shows how great the staff are. The food was brilliant too, the Sando was soo tasty and could have easily had another one! Best bar I’ve been too in a long time!

Pretty decent, food was a bit cold & late coming out but very high quality and it wasn't too much of an offset. The chicken burger was fantastic, would definitely recommend.

Officially my favourite pub now. Staff make all the difference; they are welcoming, lovely and friendly. Staff helped my mum with her shopping bag and offered us a table when one was available (we were happy to drink at the bar). Atmosphere is lovely and welcoming. Drinks were delicious
