We all got fish & chips Absolutely fantastic we will be coming back soon. The staff were excellent and extremely friendly.

The food at The Ship Inn is fantastic and we were not disappointed with our breaded Haddock dish. Beautifully cooked, the portion was also very large. Note to self for future orders, to make it a half portion. Great atmosphere and excellent, friendly staff.

Reasonably satisfied with dinner - fish pie was recommended. The menu was a little staid but standard pub offerings. A little disappointed with the experience having read all the really positive reviews. I think they could do better. Perhaps just resting on their laurels a little. The lady with the aggressive dog outside having a drink did not add to teh evening. She certainly needs to be moved on.

Oh of the 3 nights we stayed in North Berwick, twice we had food at The Ship. I had the Fisherman’s pie on both occasions. It was delicious. 1st time my wife had the fish & chips, it looked good & said it tasted nice. But she joined me on the Fisherman’s for the 2nd visit. Not a bad selection of beers either. Staff are so fresh too, 100% will return.

Visited for drink on a very warm sunny day. Nice place to sit and watch the world go by. Seats outside were at a premium but people moved after they ate. Unfortunately the tables were never cleared by staff during our 2 hour visit. Each time I went to the bar there was never anyone there. Had to wait until someone came out of the back room. Seemed to be enough staff if the ones standing talking to each other were all supposed to be working. Customer service is not one of the high points of this place. Can’t comment on the food as we never ate but going by the amount left on the uncleared tables I’m glad we didn’t.

Good pub food, good selection of ales on tap. Good children’s menu and meals available. Service was good, we sat outside as it was busy but we’re forgotten about. Although slight misunderstanding as the staff don’t wear a uniform we were confused as to who the lady wanting to clear our tables was!

Amazing crab salad and roast beef Sunday roast, plus great service. The crab was fresh and perfectly seasoned. A small Sunday roast was plenty for me!

Nice spacious real ale bar in centre of North Berwick, friendly and very nice beer. Funny tho that I asked barman for a dark beer.....he recommended an IPA....not sure that classes as dark....compared to water maybe! Lol

Every time we visit North Berwick for the day, we always book our lunch here and it never fails! We always have the small portion of beer battered fish and chips as we cannot finish the regular portion. The batter is amazing, so crispy and the fish as white as snow! I can recommend the espresso coffee too. We have had many a weak and watery one in expensive restaurants but it is exactly how it should be here! Staff are lovely and chatty and nothing is too much trouble. Another bonus is that they allow dogs so it's an all round winner for us. I would highly recommend the Ship Inn and we are looking forward to visiting again.

A super welcoming traditional pub. The staff were attentive, helpful and very friendly. A shout out to the two young lads who were running around ensuring everyone was taken care are a real credit to the pub! If coming, especially at the weekend it would be an idea to book as it gets super busy. In the time we were there over 20 different groups were disappointingly turned away, but the staff were quick to offer an alternative on the high street. It’s super doggy friendly and accommodate wee kiddies too. The food was great and plentiful. Don’t you just hate it when you order a side of chips and it’s a skimpy potion, not here, you get a generous wee silver bucket.

Had a great experience. Warm welcome as soon as we arrived, shown quickly to table and immediately were asked what drinks we would like brought to table and if we’d like a bowl of water for our dog. Staff were very attentive throughout, often checking if we needed anything else. We had steak pie and fish n chips, both were very tasty.

Visited The Ship Inn twice during our 2 night stay in North Berwick. First time was just for drinks. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff on duty on Tuesday. Very friendly, helpful and attentive. We like our ales and we’re offered tasters to find what we liked. We visited again early evening on Wednesday and decided to stay for food as well. We both ordered fish pie which came with seasonal veg. Probably the best fish pie I’ve ever tasted. Different staff on this occasion but equally as helpful, friendly and attentive Great portion size and really reasonably priced too Will definitely visit again if we’re in the area, thank you ✅👏🏼👌🏼

I gave 5 stars to this pub last time we visited. We returned yesterday 3rd of October which was really lovely, the two lads on were very polite and friendly. Steak pie was lovely also the fish pie. We went back again today 4th October ordered fish and chips and chicken burger. Michelle the lady that was on brought our food. As i cut my burger in half and tried the chicken it was lukewarm. I approached the lad that took the order he was very apologetic and took my food away. Michelle i think she is the manager, or in charge came to our table and asked us what the problem was with the food. I told her the burger was not hot to which she replied she had brought our food some time ago.Considering my husband was just starting eating his which was nice and hot.I told her i was not lying. About 10 minutes later she sent my food back out with the waiter the way i had sent it back. He looked embarrassed and said apparently the chef said it was hot.I asked, so i have to eat it to which he replied yes. I asked him to take it back as there is no way I was eating cold chicken. When he brought the bill we had been charged for the burger,i refused to pay for the burger which then was removed. I will not return to this pub. Michelle the so called woman in charge needs to be sent on a customer care course. Also she needs to learn some manners. We visited at lunchtime and were greeted by friendly staff who seated us straight away. Food was amazing, well cooked and presented, and the portions were good. Restaurant was clean and tidy, all of the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful.

Nous avons découvert ce pub un peu par hasard et nous avons été ravis. Nous avons commencé par boire une excellente bière puis nous nous sommes laissés tentés par un berger à l’angus et un fish and chips. Waou ! Plats très copieux et délicieux. Un régal. Le cadre est celui qu’on attend d’un pub: chaleureux et typique. Le service était parfait avec une mention particulière pour Guilbert très sympathique, jovial et attentionné. Il a même échangé quelques mots en français avec nous. Nous recommandons vraiment le Ship Inn!

On Thur 31 Aug’23 my wife & I had lunch with 2 relatives visiting from abroad. The restaurant was busy, and before we were seated, one of the staff gave the table and seats a good wipe down. We were then served by the lady with pink hair who gave us outstanding service from start to finish. The meal portions were a good size, and the food was cooked perfectly.

Excellent atmosphere and service. Very good fish and chips. Nice mixed age group dining. Excellent deserts. Highly recommended.

I came for lunch with my mum and daughter. I was so appalled at the portion size of the fish and chips. Absolutely shocking, this was more like a kids portion than an adults. How you can charge the prices for the food that Is served is beyond me. I feel mad I never sent it back but after walking for miles all morning I was ready for a good feed and was starving. Ladies toilets were stinking and need a good scrub. The table we were sitting at had a funny whifty smell coming from it and was sticky. Defo not clean. Luckily I have anti bac wipes in my bag. All in all the place felt manky! I will never be back here again and will not be recommending to anyone. Avoid! P.s had to get a chippy after this meal - no joke!

The fish pie was the best I’ve ever eaten. My husband’s Shetland mussels were delicious. Friendly, busy, clean and well organised by very friendly and helpful staff. Very varied menu at very reasonable prices. Excellent pub grub!

We're fairly regular here, every couple of weeks but not for a month or two. Lady with red hair (sorry never got her name ) was always friendly, welcoming and fantastically efficient at her job. Today's staff were the opposite, nary a smile or welcome and vanishing acts during lunch time, so the chef had to take food to a table at one point. Food was good but not great, Aspall's is always good and the young barman was a bright spot in a dreich staff atmosphere. Eventually went to the bar to pay the barman after about a 7 minute wait ,as the staff were not in a rush to bring the card machine over. ` Won't be rushing back. Unless the red haired lady reappears and brightens the place up.

Wanted to try to get a table in this so called dog friendly establishment but with the tiny area that allowed dogs in we had no chance... So we sat outside in what seemed like parts of a wooden box. (Remnants of covid times I guess). It was absolutely filthy outside and had not been cleaned for some time. Our two dogs smelt very bad after we left (probably human urine) and covered in bits of general crap and fag ends... they had to have a bath it was so bad. No food served outside - only drinks so we couldn't eat but think this was probably a blessing as it was so dirty...

On there website they advise there food served at 8 pm every day, we went at 7.20 pm to be told no food as they have a quiz in and kitchen closed at 7.15 pm asked to speak to manger to which she said no due to quiz advised they should update there website but again told there a quiz on

Having visited the previous day for a drink we walked the 5km from Yellowcraig thinking a nice bit of al fresco Sunday lunch would be just the thing. Nope, manager says no. Despite the signs outside telling you to order food from the bar and the chip shop next door (and others down the street) having outside eating the claim was "we're not licenced to serve food outside". She wouldn't even serve it in their noisy, smelly totally enclosed courtyard (a long way from the "suntrap rear patio garden" that Whatpub describes). Nice beer (Fyne Jarl) shame about the attitude. Their loss as we were about to order two of the most expensive dishes as a treat. We'll plan a different ending point next walk.

My Mum and Dad has their first alcoholic drink outside here and really enjoyed it! There are lovely wooden booths which provide privacy and social distancing. They also had homemade soup and sour dough bread which they thought was delicous.

In this area twice a year and always stop at the Ship Inn. Today as always the food was perfect and service to match. Also would like to say that since venturing out to pubs and restaurants, the Ship in have been the most impressive to me when it comes to their safety procedures. We visited the ship on two occasions over the weekend early September.The staff clearly are trying to cope with civil regs. But are struggling to deliver service as well.We had table booked for 7pm , were seated on time , ordered and after 40 minutes We’re served with both starter and mains together. Server informed us there was some problem and we would have to have both at same time.I declined and our mains were removed with the comment , they can go under the grill then !The food , chicken wings, nachos ,followed by Caesar salad and steak pie was good .But watching the front of house staff literally running around trying to deal with public at the door , serve drinks and meals was a shame. They need more staff .It’s with regret I criticise the ship but it needs highlighting , the two people on table adjacent to us suffered longer service waiting time .

As a local I was incredibly disappointed with my first visit to The Ship after it opened. However I am delighted to say it’s back on top form. We’ve eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks and each time it’s been spot on. Great service, efficient and friendly and the food was always great.One thing though - would be better with the old home made massive onion rings :-)

After I got the wrong time and had to cancel the day before the staff were still very helpful and accommodating. Between six of us we had 5 starters, battered fish and haddocks pal, all very delicious, good portions & great service. Well worked out for Covid, it felt safe and organised. Still one of the best places in town for food and atmosphere. Also great for the dog. We loved it and will be back.

The Ship has always been our favourite local and we were so excited it was,opening again. We know it’s got new owners but the food was still good. Lots of traditional pub grub made and presented well. However the service was absolutely shocking. The pub was not busy and there were 4 staff on. Most of the time they spent walking aimlessly about the pub. We waited over 30 minutes for drinks. Amateur and sloppy service with nobody in control. Oh, and the bar was rammed full of dirty glasses. Disgusting. They’ll need to get their act together or they’ll not survive when the tourists go. Should have been sooo much better.

Stopped by for a family lunch. Welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Even managed to entertain my 3 year old. Top notch food at reasonable prices. Throwback to how pubs should be run. Will definitely be back.
