Very much a working man's pub with basic comforts. You are likely to hear some coarse language. However, the bar staff and patrons are friendly and obliging. They are very welcoming to OAP's. Quite a few of the patrons are OAP's themselves. It is a safe place to frequent. Their ales are very good and not expensive.

We had been for a stroll along the bird reserve at Levenhall and were beckoned into this establishment by the cook. The restaurant opens at five, and we therefore had some ales in the bar first, as it was not even four. Eventually, though, we were summoned to the restaurant and partook of tea by half five. The food on offer is Asian cuisine and they warn you about its being a tad hot, but I noticed nothing of that. I had a Saag Pandir, which consists of spinach and cheese in a sauce, complemented by vegetable rice, whilst my partner opted for lamb jalfrezi. The only catch is that takeaway prices differ from sit-in prices and they only accept cash, but we were satisfied enough to leave a tip, consisting of loads of small coins. The food is highly satisfactory. We were the only guests in the restaurant, although there were some people in the bar. It is also worth noting that this establishment, as one of very few curry houses, is recommended by CAMRA.

As a young man I frequented this traditional pub many years ago and despite the changing management over the years I'm still drawn back when I'm back in the area. Good ales served up in a pub with atmosphere and locals that make you feel at home. Food is also available from the very convenient Indian restaurant that shares the building

This used to be a pub but is now divided into a pub/Indian restaurant. We were last in here about twenty years ago and as far as I could see, the only difference is that the girl behind the bar is new, everything else is just as it was before, dirty, dilapidated and smelly. We had called in to have a few drinks but thanks to the loud, foul mouthed dinosaur sitting at the bar we left without finishing our first drink. I assume he must spend a lot of money there and that's why he is tolerated. The barmaid did ask him several times to quieten down and stop swearing but to no avail. Avoid the Levenhall arms at all costs!!!

Went to LA Spice with friends for a meal. The service by the waitress was excellent, shame the same can't be said about meal. I had explained to our friends that it was not a quick service. So luckily we had lots to talk about. The first course was lovely, presentation was really nice. Waited about 15mins for next course. Well from my first review you will see I have a problem with amount or lack of chicken. My husbands came and and seriously there were only 4 bits of chicken on the plate. The waitress kindly took it back and surprise surprise they managed to pluck some more chicken from somewhere and put it on hubby's plate. The meal in its self was nice. I think it depends on who does the cooking there. But l would still go back. Also you have to pay cash as there card machine does not work. Didn't work the last time we there as well.

When we found next-door closed for a private function we tried here against the recommendation of the Caravan Site we stayed at. We were told that it was "rough" and best avoided. We found the local clientell welcoming, funny and warm and the bar staff a delight. Their range of real ale is great and it is kept in excellent condition with regular changes to what is on offer. We tried a curry from the attached restaurant and ate it sitting in the bar watching the football. The food was tasty and plentiful and represented excellent value for money and when we left we were full and happy. I will re-visit when next in Edinburgh. Keep it up!

Just had a takeaway from L.A Spice formerly Saisons. What a change. Last time we had a takeaway we were not very impressed. But what a change. The meal we got was very tasty. Plenty of chicken, my last review mentioned the lack of chicken. We both had a Nepalese meal. and are now stuffed. Defo go back. Think next time l will try spicier. Very varied choice. So got a lot too get through. Recommend it. Keep up the good work.

Staff are friendly but the service is glacially slow. Food is reasonably priced but pretty basic fare, nothing special. Decor is dreary and atmosphere was more-or-less nonexistent. There are plenty of other places within about a 5-10 minute radius that are similarly priced but offer more choice and a better overall experience.

During our golfing break in Edinburgh, my wife and I happened upon this place and had a meal. It's basically a pub, so we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised by the food being good and so plentiful: nothing pretentious, just good value for money and nothing to complain about. Staff were friendly and attentive and I would revisit if I ever go there again.

Large room on 1st floor. Great for dogs. Staff are excellent friendly and helpful. Great location not far from the beach or the town. Food in restaurant is excellent. Enjoyed the breakfast and main meals. Will be back later in the year. 11/24 Now our third visit. The quality hasn't dropped. Staff still excellent and so friendly. Food is still top notch. Sunday roast was beautiful. The room is comfortable and warm. Doggies love their sausage in the morning. Love the service of filling out your breakfast requirements the night before. Good choice as well.

My wife and I went early Saturday evening for an anniversary dinner. The starters were excellent, but then the main courses arrived. My wife had the Sea Bass, expecting a reasonable sized piece of fish, she received a few thin pieces of tail end the skin was very rubbery. The accompanying, what she thought was something aubergine based vegetables, didn't look appetising at all, in fact it had a resemblance to something a dog had regurgitated. I had the Beef and Bone Marrow burger. This at the start was a very tasty burger albeit, with the dressings rather oily, until I got to the last mouth full, which appeared to be more marrow than beef, which I had to remove from my mouth rather quickly. At this point I decided against a dessert, I had one from our freezer when I got home. We had passed The Winton many times and had said we must try it. We had returned from an Holiday the day before and with it being our anniversary I thought we would go rather than cook at home. I am sorry I did now. To be honest I found The Winton to be slightly overpriced but under average food quality when compared to other restaurants in the surrounding area. Very unlikely we would return.
