Nice historic pub and micro brewery.

Up this way to watch neices partner in Edinburgh Marathon. There were 7 of us, car park across the road, large early 1900 building, live music occasionally, sky tv and separate restaurant area dog friendly.The menu covered most tastes the service was excellent ,the atmosphere made you feel as if you were at home.Our waiter was superb witty and knowledgable and a good raconteur.The food was well cooked and presented and the portions would suit most people.We all had a very enjoyable evening and would certainly go again,good value for money.

Went to the Gutenberg for Lunch. Server was great, friendly and helpful. I ordered the Burger with Bacon and cheese. Burger came, and looked fantastic, until I cut into the Burger. The Burget was completely raw and cold inside. It was uneadable. I complained to the waitress, who was very apologetic, and offered me to change food straight away. By this time, I was put of my meal, but tried an alternative dish. The restaurant was not busy, infact we were the only customers in the dining room. Very disappointed and won't be back!

Great meal deals on Monday to Thursday - 3 courses- £12. Good food, great value

If you’re a tourist, steer clear. They only give the a la carte menu to locals

Lovely Sunday lunch and homemade pudding all for £15. Wonderful attentive service and a nice atmosphere for a meal out together.

The servers were lovely and friendly, but we ordered from the lunch menu and found the food to be quite poor. The cheese bites were over cooked and the tagliatelle carbonara was absolutely tasteless. Some of us had ordered burgers, but were told they had run out. The desserts were good. We could have sent the food back, but there was only one chef on and we had already waited over an hour before we could order (again, servers were lovely and were obviously doing their best). We had really looked forward to lunch as it was a family meal while we were on holiday, and the reviews we had seen were excellent. Maybe the food from the main menu would have been nicer but as we were only visiting the area, I couldn’t say.

They have a varied menu including traditional pub classics which they do well. Our waiter knew the food and bar offering, or would find out, and made good recommendations. Would be our first local choice now. Beautiful bar setting but the light wood panelled dining room reminded me of Eltham Palace's art deco style. Simply loved it.

We were passing through the area and had a lovely, very reasonably priced three course lunch here. The restaurant area was busy on a Monday which is always a good sign and well behaved dogs are welcomed. The home cooked food was very tasty, every course was well cooked, well presented and piping hot. The restaurant area, bar and toilets were spotless and the hospitality was second to none. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, a really good team. Thanks for a great meal. We’d highly recommend a visit and next time we’re passing, we’ll be back.

A fabulous 3 course lunch menu and a few drinks

A very nice place, with an interesting history. I received my food quickly and it was hot and tasty. The ladies from the staff are extremely nice.

Excellent food & lovely dining experience

I had the extremely good luck of booking a special birthday dinner for my wife, now 75! and family. From the day I booked, Clair and her staff have been extremely helpful and last night, the dinner was absolutely fantastic. Great service from respectful and friendly staff. Our dinner went well and my wife had an absolute ball. The food was excellent and delicious from a varied and thoughtful menu. I will most definitely be back again and I thoroughly recommend it to you. p.s. Best steak pie I've ever eaten!

Just back from our 1st visit for a meal and it certainly won’t be the last. Service and food was excellent and very good value for money. Very friendly and helpful staff as well.

It's very easy to overeat here. Portions are not small. I recommend starting with a main and seeing if you have room for a starter once you've finished it. I had the lasagne and two pints, and simply could not have had anything else. I stopped at the half-way point on my cycle along the coast, and barely made 5mph on my way back. While I might not be ready for the Tour de France just at this point, I don't think those riders typically stop for such a delightful-yet-unreasonable amount of stodge. I will definitely be repeating this experience.

Stopped on for a bite of lunch while out with grandkids really lovely welcoming place and they allowed dogs. The food was excellent staff were friendly and welcoming would recommend highly.

Went for Father's Day lunch with a table of 5. The 2 dads had the Father's Day special, which was a steak, all the trimmings, sauce of your choice and a beer, lager, or glass of wine. Food was fab. I had the seabass, which was lovely and a prawn cocktail to start, which I didn't take a photograph of but was absolutely lovely.

The staff are very nice and friendly but the decor is shabby and no atmosphere. Food was OK but nothing to write home about. Wouldn't hurry back.

I recently dined at The Prestongrange Gothenburg and the food and service were both good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly. I ordered the Highlander Sizzler, the ribeye steak and haggis fritters were delicious and was only let down by the poor amount of frozen skin on fries. The meat was cooked to perfection and was full of flavor, and the sizzling platter added a nice touch to the presentation. The portion size was fine apart from the pitiful amount of fries. However, while the quality of the food and service were great, I couldn't help but feel that the pricing was a bit too high. Although the dish was delicious and satisfying, I have previously worked in the restaurant business and I feel that while my meal was priced relatively fair to a little high, other items on the menu were very over priced for what they entail. Overall, I would highly recommend The Prestongrange Gothenburg for their excellent food and service, but I would caution potential diners about the high prices for the area.

Now called the new gothenburg. We went for lunch. Soup was awful. Supposed to be lentil soup. Was very watery and a small bowl is £5.95..extortionate. we asked for small fish and believe me it was small. Overpriced for a pub. Will.not be back

Walked into dining room. No staff around so my husband had to go to the bar. Starter took ages to arrive. Two tables who ordered after us were served first. Meal was lovely. Staff were friendly but service was slow. My husband ordered a drink but they forgot. Live music started and we could hardly hear ourselves. We won't be going back.

Disappointing service and meal to be honest. Just been taken over recently so tonight would give it a try but sadly won’t return. Meal was lukewarm, poor service. Sad.

Great food and reasonable price

Went for dinner with family expectations of sitting in the newly furbished restaurant to end up sitting downstairs in the same old run down room with tatty table mats. Couldn't hear each other talking thanks to noise from the bar then to make it worse they had a singer booked who wasn't exactly great all songs sounded the same. Food was slow garlic bread was still chilled on the bottom clearly just grilled on the top. Both steaks were cooked wrong.( med rare sent out well done when arrived) Just not the nice relaxing atmosphere we were hoping for probably won't be back.

Mixed feelings ! Food ok, but upstairs area not really restaurant atmosphere ! Like a tea room and had chairs stacked at the side, linen cupboard open with stuff lying about inside. Napkins that were more like a tablecloth cut up ! Shame as we were expecting something better from previous owners !@

Outstanding. Food, beer, music, staff, everything.

A lunch time meal at a local pub. The menu was small but covered a nice range of options. We opted for fish and chips with a pot of tea. The meals were delicious and the batter on the fish was crispy and light. The portions were also plentiful. There is also a children's menu and our granddaughter had a decent sized meal.The drinks prices were also great value for such a large selection. The service from Kirstie was friendly, professional and helpful. It was not over busy and the beer garden had customers enjoying the food and lovely weather. All in a very good experience that I would recommend.

Have been meaning to go to this pub and microbrewery for ages and last night we did. Their current beer that’s brewed just behind the bar area was amazing- it tasted of oranges- it was lovely. Good price too. Friendly barman and it’s just opposite the sea. What’s not to like?

Was in the establishment last night. Very accommodating about changing times and number of people in the booking. However upon arrival no-one to greet us. Had to wait ages to order drinks and food. The Sangria was good. Food arrived nothing to rave about, starters ok, next course diabolical. The Paella was more like a thick stew, rather than a rice dish, mussels took ages to come and had no flavour, Pisto ok. Person who had the dessert said not nice apart from the ice cream. Music was the best thing of the night There was no-one about to really say anything to. As the team seemed to concentrate on the bar. Coming from a hospitality background there should be someone visible in the dining area, in not continuous but back and forth regularly. Seemed that the establishment could not cope with the bar and dining area at the same time.

At last managed to get to The Goth for a meal we were not disappointed lovely starter and main from lunch menu - generous portions great value - look forward to coming back for an evening meal cause the choice looks amazing - lovely staff also - thank you

Nice pub but I was looking for some real ale. Apparently they are waiting for the lines to be fixed.

Lovely welcoming pub with friendly staff. Live music is a bonus and very good. Wide range of drinks, reasonably priced. I haven't eaten here so can't comment on the food. The only downside, drinks being served in a plastic glass and they had run out of ice on a Friday evening. Visited on a Saturday during the day, no tonic.

Absolutely fabulous meal right on our doorstep. Beautifully prepared fresh produce and great friendly service. Two courses £10.95 was incredible value. Bottle of Pinot Grigio and two pints of Cider meant the total bill was only £40. Happy to leave 10%+ tip!! Be back again and again I feel!!

Lovely bar and atmosphere, very friendly staff and a good selection of food and beers including a couple of the Goth Tavern's own real ales.

Constructive criticism , The entrance to bar / restaurant needs a complete clean up,old chairs ,half swept up leaves, empty cans and the pigeon mess . Positive comments ,attentive staff , good food . Presentation of food too much on small plates, recommended larger plates .

Went for friends birthday. At first guy servicing was very nice, can’t fault the food it was lovely so well done chef. Unfortunately went downhill after that. Service was atrocious. No one came near to ask if we wanted anything else, we were just left to it! We had to keep getting up going through to bar asking for drinks. We really could have walked out without paying as no one was bothered! We gave up in the end and had to go through to the bar and ask for the bill. It was brought to us but never asked if we enjoyed. We left the exact amount no tip! You only leave a tip if good service! It was a Thursday night and very quiet so not like they had an excuse as rushed off feet!

Beautiful interior with lift. Information about its history was unobtrusively available. Decor was lovely and the staff were fantastic. I was at a private function and the staff were very welcoming. So we're the locals.

We visited as a large family group of 11 and we were made to feel very welcome. The pub was relatively busy but all were friendly, the restaurant side was very nice, even a big selection of books for the kids. The food was excellent with good sized portions and a nice hand pulled ale to go with it. It was so good we visited again later the same week!

The Goth never fails when it comes to pub grub, all home made, brilliant quality meals are served here. All the staff are friendly and welcoming, and dogs are welcome too, such a bonus. So glad we found this gem.

Really enjoyed my meal on Sunday. Chicken strips for starter(massive) Scampi for main. Under a fiver for starter and we'll under a tenner for main. The way it should be. Friendly Chap serving and taking orders. Polite and happy for our custom, oh and live music through in the bar area. Wife had the veggie chilli tacos. Highly recommend
