Just keep driving past, nowadays always looks busy, loads of pensioners in for cake & a cuppa, but boy has it gone DOWNHILL You now order & pay at counter, though you have to wait to be seated, fewer staff too, tables & floors are littered with dishes & debri choice isn't as big, no butter on sandwiches/baguettes just filling, a few cakes available but no scones, don't offer afternoon tea. Glasses & cutlery were unpolished or checked before bring put on tables that aren't disinfected between customers & need a coat of varnish. Ceiling beams & lights are thick with dust. Obviously haven't heard cleanliness is next to godliness Not like it was a few years back 🙄

We visited on a very sunny Saturday in July to go strawberry picking and let little one play in the play area. For strawberry picking - you head to the desk where you can buy take-away. You pay a deposit for picking which is then deducted from the price of the strawberries you pick. At time of our visit the deposit for £2 per adult and £1 per child. We headed to the tunnels. Wow - they were hot! Super warm, as to be expected. The plants are all raised which is good as no bending to pick your fruit. We filled three tubs in no time. We then headed back to the same desk/till to have our fruit weighed and also purchased some drinks. After putting our berries in the boot of the car we took our drinks and got a table in the play area. Our little one had over an hour of fun here, made friends with some other kids and thoroughly enjoyed it.. Before we left, we headed for a look around the farm shop. This was super busy. I have to say, we have been in better farm shops, there was a lot of bits and bobs for homes and gifts in here that just don't interest us, but this is personal taste. There was still plenty of produce to pick up if you wanted to. We will definately return again next year for berry picking (if not before for a coffee and play). Free parking with an overflow car park too.

Waited a few minutes to be seated as it was busy and were told the food may take longer than normal however our sandwiches arrived before the drinks so no issue there. One of the sandwiches was on the wrong bread (white rather than the granary requested) and when pointed out they did offer to swap it but we ate what was bought to the table. The food was nicely presented and the serving staff were all polite. We were expecting more choice of home made produce in the shop (pies, quiches, soups etc.) so were a little disappointed with the range offered. Sausage rolls were nice though.

Two out of five and that’s me being overly generous. Went up at 0920 for a few things. Fresh vegetables not topped up. However managed to see what I wanted and put in basket. Went to counter to pay - however no staff in shop or tearoom at all therefore unable to. So after waiting for goodness knows how long left basket on counter and got what I wanted else where. Walked past one of the owners who was “busy” with workman - he had seen me with basket in hand and was bound to see me walking out of shop empty handed. If there was no staff in to provide a service why open? Also on previous visits at times the younger staff appeared not to have a very good attitude towards customers- it was as they just could not be bothered serving you. This place needs to review staff training and to realise if it wasn’t for the customer……

Our first visit after driving past several times. Very disappointed. The outside courtyard is very grubby with used napkins, cigarette ends and spilled food on the ground. Seats and tables had bird poo on them. We ordered applewood smoked cheese and chutney toasties but we had to send out a search party for more than one small piece of cheese, the rest being chutney only. Most unpleasant to eat, so most was left.

This venue seems to attract mixed reviews but we accepted the risk of disappointment and went for lunch. Have say that we had zero to complain about food wise although their food ordering process provided some light entertainment as we waited for our meal to arrive. Two adjacent tables were offered freshly prepared food and drinks that they hadn't ordered and those who had ordered lunch seemed oblivious to what was going on around them! When our meals arrived, the food was hot, the portions were fair and we thoroughly enjoyed the kitchen's efforts. Cannot see any advantages in the new process for ordering and paying for your food in advance - maybe too many Fife folk were doing a runner and not paying for their meals? The waiting staff were pleasant and the loos were absolutely spotless - usually a sign that their kitchen will be kept clean as well. In addition, the car park is free and there are no traffic wardens to spoil your lunchtime experience. Rather enjoyed their home-made soup and the Coronation Chicken was very tasty. This latest visit on a wet and windy February day, was voted a success all round and we will certainly return

How disappointing. I was gifted a voucher for Afternoon Tea for 2 by a good friend, sadly she has not spent her money well. We booked 7 days in advance, giving plenty notice as one is gluten free. It’s seems that this was not enough notice. We arrived 15minutes early but were seated, 30minutes later I had to ask a waitress for help. She then returned and asked what filling we wanted in our sandwich and what we would like to drink. As you will see from the photograph, my egg mayonnaise sandwich was cut with the same knife as my friend’s Coronation Chicken sandwich…not acceptable! I was given a cherry scone and asked for a plain scone which there wasn’t any, I was offered a choice of traybake from the fridge…but I already had 5 cakes so didn’t want a 6th one. Incidentally my gluten friend only got 4 cakes…equality for gluten free??…I think not! A lovely friendly waitress came and asked if we enjoyed it afternoon tea, poor thing got a shock(Sandra?) My friend was reluctant to comment, but as a frequent customer I didn’t hold back. The scones were not fresh, so dry and crumbly. Only 3 thin stripe of sandwich each. In all honestly if I was paying for this today, I’d have been very cross! Thank you to the helpful waitress who took the time to ask if everything was ok. It was far from it! Would i recommend this to anyone? No! Avoid at all costs! A lovely friendly waited

The food was lovely, I had applewood smoked cheese and pickle sandwich. My daughter had cheesy nachos. It was all lovely. The young gentleman who served us was lovely. But when it came to our order for 2 latte's and two strawberry tarts, the service died. Our strawberry tarts came, no coffees. We started to eat our strawberry tarts, still no coffees. I was watching the two girls who take the orders, payments and bring the coffees, teas. The two of them stood there chatting, no one went anywhere near the coffee maker. Half way through our strawberry tarts, my daughter went and asked where our coffees were. They were standing talking. A dark haired girl and a blonde. Our coffees arrive soon after that. As my daughter works in a very busy restaurant, as a supervisor, her rule is, cakes come out with or just before the coffee.

Not been to Blacketyside for a while (couple of years) as it's a treat to go out for lunch. Met up with a friend for lunch as it's equidistant between us and had good memories from previous visits we had lunch here. It was a bit late for lunch and despite the car park being quite full we got a table quite quickly. And service was quick too despite it being school holidays. Friend ordered a bake potato with filling and I ordered a special of the day - steak pie with boiled potatoes & veg. Friend enjoyed the baked potato but the salad was limp and starting to brown so it was a bit of a shock the salad wasn't fresh as they grow their own being a farm! My steak pie (£8) came in a bowl and I wondered why until I started to eat it. Most of it was gravy and the boiled potatoes were good but there were a 'million' peas! I think I managed to find 1/2 piece of a slice of carrot. Added salt as not much flavour in the steak pie . But after adding more salt realised there was nothing that would improve the bland flavour. There was a bit of pastry stuck on top but it wasn't crispy. The coffee was good though. So overall quite disappointing.

After reading several recent Trip advisor reports, we entered with trepidation and wondered if this visit to Blacketyside might be over rather quickly. A smiling member of staff got us seated quickly and explained their recent changes to ordering. paying for and delivery of food. We aren't big fans of ordering and paying for food in advance (before seeing or eating it) but what was delivered to our table was very good in terms of presentation, taste and portion control. The staff appeared to be busy, although I get nervous when there isn't a manager clearly visible and leading the team during service. Overall it was a very good lunch and we will happily return when next in the area. It has grown in size since previous visits and they have changed their operating processes but the coronation chicken remains consistently tasty. The loo was also maintained to a high standard on the day, which can be challenging after a busy lunchtime service.

So went for breakfast and noticed around 6 to 7 young girls serving at the counter. You know you are in for bad service when they are standing around chatting with each other and swapping stories about their new nails being done. Ordered a bacon roll but was informed after fifteen minutes that no rolls had been delivered and therefore, would I wait until the delivery driver brought them? I asked when that would be the young waitress seemed unsure. Never offered any alternative so we declined and left. At the counter in a queen waiting on a refund the man in front was getting very frustrated with the time taken to order his meal. He also commented about all the young staff and how they just didn't seem to care. The main problem is that they hire young staff to save money. However, the problem is that no one is supervising them and the service is appalling. The thing is the food is not cheap.

We constantly had to refer to the waitress to see what was happening. She even tried to blame the bad service on us by saying my granddaughter should not have taken my wife’s soup as she was having a soup and sandwich and that’s what caused the huge delay. My grandson, aged 4, waited 45 minutes for a ham sandwich. When my course came the vegetables were stone cold. I did asked for them to be heated. Others saw the very bad service but did nothing. I paid the bill and my wife complained only to be told the message would be passed on.

I am comfortable to leave my dog out side the entrance and the flower assistant can see her which I was Very grateful for as my dog is my therapy pet. So i will get my milk for this place from now on lol They also have a cafe as well and during the summer as i cant wait to find out this summer of what they are revamping but really excited to see.

We recently had a light lunch at Blacketyside. It proved to be a worthwhile visit because there was a good choice of dishes. It was a busy place which is a good indication that the quality of food and its cost are attractive to clientele. Despite the large number of diners the young waitresses were very pleasant and carried out their duties with admirable efficiency.

There is a re-localisation of agriculture happening, and by that term "re-localisation" I mean the linking up of local agriculture with local consumers - be those consumers actual "locals," or tourists looking to purchase local produce, crafts, etc. (I fall into the latter category. I was traveling for work when I went to this shop). Re-localisation is happening all over the world; and while this trend is definitely a good thing, there are shops - such as, sadly, Blacketyside Farm Shop, which has a restaurant as well as market--who are exploiting the desire for folks to buy local for their own profit or other motive. Blacketyside was selling goods that were not truly local. I found items for sale from the PRC(i.e., scarves made in China, and not Scotland!); I purchased cards that turned out to be from a religious literature-distribution ministry (an evangelical Christian one) based out of either the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland! The restaurant was crowded, cafeteria-like, not welcoming. This was a sad experience - I was surprised it was busy the day I visited. Perhaps it is because people seek an alternative to a big shopping centre and feel that this is THE alternative - folks, THIS IS NOT AN AUTHENTIC FARM MARKET in the historic or contemporary sense. Stop by a farmer's: ask where she/he is selling something you'd like (such as fruit, etc.) ;check with local craft guilds to see what markets actually feature locally made goods. I'd advise avoiding this shop.

We did have a 10 minute wait but was worth it. After meal the kids played in the parks on the site & enjoyed themselves too, worth a visit.

Took a trip to this place for lunch. Car park quite busy and outside looks welcoming. However, once inside there was a queue for a table. This gave me hope food is good. We got pointed to our table by a very miserable looking member of staff and menus on table. Told "specials are on the board" which we had to leave our seats to look at. Made our choice, long wait until one of the many waitresses attended to our order. Along came our food. A small portion of oven chips and an extremely dry panini which was cold in the middle and cheese not melted. Was very disappointed. The soup however was lovely. The brie from specials board was not up to a good standard. Was not deep fried brie as it is described on the board. Seated beside kitchen. Looking into forever swinging door was a mass pile of food and crockery appearing on the floor. Enjoyed the tea and the shop.

Vistited here while on holiday, farm produce is top quality, and the cafe well it's more than that the menu choices are good and the food cooked well, one time we had scambled eggs I want the recipe so fluffy if they hadn't been busy, I may have asked them, wish we had somewhere like it near to us.

This shop/restaurant is always busy, which I suppose is a good, encouraging sign. The timber building is large and impressive...I love timber buildings! For a light lunch, we had a filled baguette and a bowl of chilli. The artisan baguette had plenty of filling and came complete with crisps and salad. I have to say that I found it very tasty and nicely complemented by the bowl of homemade chilli. One last note, the orange juice is freshly squeezed and delicious!

It was the first time i had been to this establishment, though the frontage is like Loch leven Larder, (Channel farm at Milnathort though slightly larger; their Steak Pie was delicious, and so was the brownie afterwards, though the person next to me had to have rice pudding and strawberries, being sunny and a nice day it turned out to be very popular with lots of people, as some went to the children's playground, while others went to Pick Your Own, returning with what they had picked and then paid for them; as for our group, we all enjoyed our selves, though Lara did not feel well, and John Cameron had to drive the bus home.

I've wanted to visit here for some time as others have enjoyed lunch. The café was busy although we didn't have to wait long for a table. When we got seated we had to ask for the chairs to be dried as they were wet. The food was good although we only had baked potatoes with cheese, tuna and prawn. However the service could be better. Two lunches came out and we had to ask for the other 2 after 10 minutes of the remainder not arriving. I asked if I could have my desert as a takeaway due to time constraints, and this was a problem. The pancakes were all freshly made and hot when they arrived.

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
