Pizza arrived cold. The cheese near the middle hadn’t even started to melt. After some time a fresh one was served. They first said they would reheat the cold one. This was warmer but still not hot near the centre. The topping was gloopy and didn’t have much taste. Staff were pleasant but service wasn’t great. We have been here and enjoyed it many times and even with the reduction on our bill I don’t think I will return. Menu is much reduced and prices do not reflect service or quality. On a positive note the chips were hit a crisp.

I met my friend for coffee and cake.. my first time back since first lockdown. Wow what a massive improvement. Greeted by Lewis who is an absolute delight to deal with and very attentive. Met my husband later on and we ended up coming to weavers for lunch. What a superb menu. I had the Cullen skink which was so tasty big pieces of smoked fish and it’s the best soup I have tasted in ages. My husband had the seafood liquid is and he was so Impressed with the freshness, the taste, the quality and quantity.. he said he would be back again. He took pictures and sent to his friends to recommend a visit. The restaurant staff were very attentive, our compliments to the staff and the chef. Keep up the great standards.

Having been closed for two weeks for refurbishment I arrived to find that there were no disabled parking spaces and had to drive to the far end of the carpark in order for me to find a space where no-one could hem me in. Lunch was pleasant although the wait was a little excessive. However the toilets were out of order----still being refurbished I understand and one had to go outside in pouring rain, walk across the courtyard and walk the length of that building to find a toilet. In an outlet which thinks it is a cut above everyone else with prices to match I think that is totally unacceptable.

Been going here for years and since opening after lockdown the food has just been getting better and better. I had the pesto pasta today, other half had the pizza and hands down, best lunch in moray. A little bit more expensive than places in town but it’s all fresh and non of your pre stuff you get in chains so I don’t mind. The staff are all lovely - genuinely nice folk who don’t just serve you, but like a chat too!

Had a lovely lunch today when visiting Weavers Restaurant with my friend . I was greeted at the door by a friendly young waiter who took my details and informed me of the Covid procedures within the restaurant whilst showing me to my table. All staff in fact were very friendly and attentive which made the experience all that more enjoyable. I chose the Scotch Egg which arrived, beautifully presented, extremely tasty and great value for money. As was my friends mushroom soup and sandwich. Which all arrived in a timely manner. A lovely ambiance and overall wonderful lunch. Looking forward to returning.

I try not to write comments which are critical but feel, having read previous comments, that someone in management need to take heed. Dropped in for lunch and ordered sandwiches. When they came...well to be honest, they looked like a child had made them. No marks for presentation! Also on the plate were mixed leaves which were fine but the coleslaw was mostly inedible. The pieces were mostly huge and tough and I put to the side of the plate. When the waitress returned and asked if we were finished, I pointed this out to her. She was very polite, apologised and said she would talk to someone. The ‘someone’ merely looked and walked away with no attempt to speak to us. Don’t expect anything for nothing, but an acknowledgement of the poor quality would have been nice. Won’t rush to visit again! To end on a positive note...the tea was good.

I ordered a baked potato with “Sticky Sausage, Mustard & Sweetcorn”.When it arrived, it was the rancid smell, which wafted from the plate, that alerted me to something seriously wrong. The smell was coming from the bacon but why on earth was there any bacon there at all; bacon was not listed on the menu for this dish. The sausages were actually “pigs in blankets” and looked as if they were left over from the Christmas fare, preserved in the freezer and then reheated in the microwave.Of the sweet corn, not a single kernel was present. The potato was over-cooked, almost to the point of inedibility. When a potato has been cooked some hours previously and kept warm for too long, the insides begin to turn into a gel, which is most unappetising. Possibly these potatoes where not baked at all; just “cooked” in the microwave. It makes me wonder if the secret visitor from VisitScotland actually visited the Coffee Shop before reconfirming the five-star tourist attraction status.

We had booked a table for four one of which was our elderly mother for midday. I'm going to cut a long story short in that the food was really good but the service was appalling. Had not been to Johnston for some time but we’re left pretty disappointed from how we found it in the past. We had a soup/sandwich and a toastie, both were pretty average. Bread was a little dried out and toastie a bit on the burnt side. It was just a cheese and tomato toastie but in the last couple pieces there was a big chunk of tomato, the stalk end, with a big black rotten looking part of the tomato. Someone using that produce in the kitchen doesn’t care in my opinion. None of the staff asked how our meal was. I have added a photo of the tomato, would you want to eat that? Glad we didn’t.

A couple joined the queue behind me and still we were ignored. I turned and asked the couple, ' Do you think we should stand at the entrance?' They agreed and we all by passed the sign moved forward. A passing waitress then said, Oh, just sit anywhere, there's plenty of tables. What is the purpose of the sign to wait??? I asked for a coffee and club sandwich. Coffee was nearly finished and almost cold by the time the sandwich came. On paying, the waitress did ask, Everything ok? I replied it wasn't because of the service. Her reply? 'Well, we are very busy', which they certainly were not when I arrived. I bypassed the restaurant on my journey home. Pity, as we used to love going there and the shop staff continue to be friendly and welcoming. Johnston's is badly let down by the staff in the restaurant. A welcoming smile would have made all the difference.

Quality of food and service does not match the rest of the experience. Will go elsewhere in Elgin next time.

Our first visit and certainly won t be our last. Had a friend visiting from Glasgow and had a leisurely look around shop then had soup and baguette in the cafe. Was served by a charming young man who I believe was called Colin he recommended the soup which was delicious. Overall a lovely visit....

The food was OK. Service was slow. Prices reasonable. Best feature is the location inside the wollen mill.

My wife and I chose to meet friends for lunch at Johnston's because it was equidistant from where we were all staying in NE Scotland, was dog friendly (in the courtyard),had plenty of parking and offered vegetarian options.

I love the textiles - I bought a nice jacket on this trip - but the restaurant is extremely disappointing. It actually damages the brand /image of the main textile business in my humble opinion. The fact that no one was manning the “wait here to be served” point causes an unsettled queue of people to develop and ordering/paying is equally unorganised. More worrying though is the quality of the food - it really is very uninspiring for a business that is trying to sell expensive, upmarket textiles. The menu needs it be reinvigorated to make it more interesting - the coronation chicken salad bowl I had was not much better than a COOP TV meal.

We visit this lovely coffee shop quite regularly. Whether you are going for a coffee our lunch you will never be disappointed. There is an abundance of home bakes to whet your appetite and if you require lunch then there is a varied and inexpensive menu. The staff are always attentive and friendly. If your looking for a coffee shop in pleasant and interesting surroundings then Johnston’s is for you.

As someone one else has pointed out, it’s now called the Spey Inn. Was there earlier this week for lunch as in area and parents recommended it from a visit a year or so ago. It was quiet but we got a friendly welcome from the two members of staff. My parents commented on the size of the menu which has apparently changed and did seemed limited in choices. 3 of us ordered the Cullen Skink soup. It tasted fine but not much fish ands lots of potatoes. Three of us then had sandwiches, the Club sandwich was very good, well filled with bacon, tomato etc and was tasty. Me and my mum both had the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It looked different in that it was 2 whole slices of toast which I thought may have been included in the description. That said I can live with this, however what was very unusual and disappointing was the quantity of filling in these two sandwiches. It appeared that there was a smear of egg mayo as in the quantity of butter you would spread on a slice of bread (and in this case it was spread onto 2 slices of thick toast). Without exaggerating it appeared that 1 egg had been used to fill 2 sandwiches . The salad that accompanied it was nice and the fish and chips the other member of our group had was apparently good. We did mention it to the server who said he’d mention our views to the chef, but it just seemed odd. We also mentioned to a member of staff at an early stage of our visit, that there was no soap in the gents toilets (you could clearly see the soap dispenser was empty when you walked in), however when leaving some time later this had not been rectified, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. It wasn’t a cheap lunch and it was fairly disappointing overall. Unless this was a one off, don’t think I would return.

Today I used my Brodie gift voucher for Afternoon Tea. My husband and I enjoyed the tastiest freshly made sandwiches, quiche, sausage roll and a variety of sweet treats. Although busy the staff were pleasant and helpful.
