My wife and I visited the Faerie Tree five times in the week we stayed in Aberfoyle. We found the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The food and drinks were very good value and when we revisit the area we will definitely go back.

No longer a Brewers Fayre, it is now a Thyme ran by Premier inn. Arrived just in time for food on my first night, staff accepted my order despite it being past kitchen time. At hotel reception I was greeted by Jillian who booked me in very promptly so as I could get something to eat. On arrival in the pub , Steph was very friendly and welcoming. Took my order and sorted a drink for me, kitchen staff got my food out to me promptly as I was at the end of a very hard day. Brilliant staff and a lovely pub.

Oh dear what has happened?! Although it has always been expensive you didn’t mind as much as service was always great and had a buzz. Sadly it’s died a death no atmosphere. Wine came before water very very poor.

As someone one else has pointed out, it’s now called the Spey Inn. Was there earlier this week for lunch as in area and parents recommended it from a visit a year or so ago. It was quiet but we got a friendly welcome from the two members of staff. My parents commented on the size of the menu which has apparently changed and did seemed limited in choices. 3 of us ordered the Cullen Skink soup. It tasted fine but not much fish ands lots of potatoes. Three of us then had sandwiches, the Club sandwich was very good, well filled with bacon, tomato etc and was tasty. Me and my mum both had the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It looked different in that it was 2 whole slices of toast which I thought may have been included in the description. That said I can live with this, however what was very unusual and disappointing was the quantity of filling in these two sandwiches. It appeared that there was a smear of egg mayo as in the quantity of butter you would spread on a slice of bread (and in this case it was spread onto 2 slices of thick toast). Without exaggerating it appeared that 1 egg had been used to fill 2 sandwiches . The salad that accompanied it was nice and the fish and chips the other member of our group had was apparently good. We did mention it to the server who said he’d mention our views to the chef, but it just seemed odd. We also mentioned to a member of staff at an early stage of our visit, that there was no soap in the gents toilets (you could clearly see the soap dispenser was empty when you walked in), however when leaving some time later this had not been rectified, despite the fact the restaurant was not busy. It wasn’t a cheap lunch and it was fairly disappointing overall. Unless this was a one off, don’t think I would return.

Booked for Hogmanay dinner 6months ago, we were all looking forward to a steak only to be told 5 minutes after ordering there were NO steaks, very little apology for that and nothing by way of a recompense. We have been customers there for years, but sadly won’t be back

Very disappointing and an experience I will not be repeating. My friend was rudely told the soup wasn't ready, so she settled for a ham sandwich, the ham was razor thin and hardly covered the bread. I asked for a toasted panni and was told it takes 15 mins to heat up the machine, so I settled for a coffee and a doughnut. The cafe was not busy yet the order took over 15 mins to reach the table. The doughnut was quite stale and I left most of it!

Scallops were absolutely delicious and the beef and ale pie was melt in the mouth. A great selections of wines and a lovely stop for dinner after a long day visiting distilleries. Staff were attentive, surprised just how busy it was for a Monday evening.

We are here as two couples on a Friday night. It’s a lovely location alongside the golf course and the lights on the trees are impressive on a clear dark Scottish Winters night. Our friend uses this restaurant a lot for business and so all the staff know him well so we definitely had good service but am sure that is the case for all as the staff all seemed informed and attentive. One of our party has some allergies and specific food needs and the chef came out and went through exactly what those were and confirmed what he would prepare and that it would be prepared separately and brought to the table separately a minute before the other meals. He also made sure the waitress ‘read back’ that order after taking the other 3 orders - very impressive if you need that. The food was very good - 2 had the Indian dishes, one the steak and another the Haggis. We had a few starters , some cocktails and a Port. Everything about here is professional and there is a style to it that is impressive. We had a relaxed time with good food, never felt rushed and it was a great night.

Had a terrible experience here. I booked this place for my partners 30th birthday meal (which I stated when booking) weeks in advance, however we arrived to find the pub was shut, despite having my booking confirmed and it stating online that it was open. I rang the number, the doorbell and knocked the door as I could hear people inside and was completely ignored, however as we were leaving the owner came out after a van arrived and a very suspicious transaction occurred. I asked the owner about why the pub was shut and that I had booked for my partners birthday. He was not apologetic in the slightest and told me that I should have received a text or email informing me it was closed, which I hadn't!! I would advise avoiding this pub at all costs as they do not care about the customers at all.

I am giving you an excellent review based on previous visits but arrived Thursday 14th November at 11:15 and it was closed. Website says open at 10:00 and opening time on door says 10:30. Several people left disappointed during my 20min seat on bench. Off to Port Bannatyne for my brunch. Can you update your opening hours on door and social media platforms.

The Creel never fails to deliver excellent food served in a great atmosphere. The food and service is beyond reproach. Last night a large party of rowers appeared expecting to be served drinks. The staff were excellent and ensured the regulars were looked after.

Where do I start? I booked a table for 8pm on 15th December 2024 for my family and I. Upon arrival we were shown to our table and told someone would be with us shortly. The restaurant was relatively quiet at this point. After 15 minutes of staff ignoring us a young staff member who’s personal hygiene was questionable approached us and asked if we would like some thing to drink. We all ordered soft drinks. At this time we asked to be moved tables as we felt quite cramped in the area we were in. I didn’t think this would be an issue as the restaurant was quiet. I was told there were no other tables available. A short time later the staff member arrived and put down 5 bottles of coke and 7up. At this time we realised there was a slug on one of the bottles. The staff member apologised and removed the slug but left us with the bottles. He did not supply glasses so I assume he expected My wife to drink out of the bottle that the slug had just been attached to. I then informed another member of staff of this who told the original staff member to supply glasses. He did this but offered no apology and offered no ice for the drinks. The next issue - I approached the food service area and ordered my selection of food. I noted that there were hardly any selection of vegetables or potatoes. I also noted that the service area was filthy with food that had clearly spilled over and had been sat there for some time. I then had the unfortunate experience of approaching the gravy counter. Again this was filthy (photo attached). I then realised that we hadn’t even been supplied cutlery. Once sat down to begin my meal, after I had to approach the bar staff as there was not any waiting staff to be seen to collect cutlery I looked around me and noted that the walls were covered in stains and had clearly not been cleaned in a long time. (Photo attached). I then looked up to see that the ceiling was mouldy. (Another photo attached). We were then pretty much ignored again by staff and were not approached until we asked for the bill. We then had the pleasure of paying over £92 for this experience. This experience has quite possibly been the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant I have ever been too. My wife holds a food hygiene certificate due to her line of work and noted that staff overalls were dirty, staff were behind the serving counter, not wearing protective equipment with their hair not covered. I think I would have preferred to have eaten at Fawlty Towers.
