We hadn’t booked on a clearly busy lunch service, but we were welcomed! Book if you would like afternoon tea. I had a baked potatoes with coronation chicken. It was freshly made to order and served with fresh salad. Choice of tea. Has a lovely cake display but we didn’t partake. It wasn’t fully seated when we arrived but a steady stream of customers then arrived. Staff were friendly and welcoming and kept very busy! Lovely local business, definitely be back!

Great location to start with, plenty parking and a park right opposite the business which is great for kids or dog walkers alike. Very atmospheric and quite busy, this is always a good sign of a great business. I had a toaster and a coffee, staff were very attentive and genuine. Service was quick and the food was hot and the fresh coffee was lovely. Would definitely come back, I’m not sure what some of the negative responses are all about, maybe competitors trying to slate another business? But in all honesty you won’t be disappointed.

Visited the wishing well for lunch, it was quite busy when we arrived but we had booked so no problem getting a table. The staff are very friendly and the ambience is quiet and relaxing. The menu has a reasonable number of dishes to choose from but the cost of the food is excessive compared to other restaurants/ coffee shops we have visited. The carpet is very faded and is in need of replacement. The other strange rule is you must spend a minimum of £15 before you can pay by card, and you can not leave a tip for the staff by adding it to the bill when paying by card, in this day and age of a cashless society, when the majority of people do not carry cash this situation is not very satisfactory and can be very inconvenient. The scones were good and the coffee is nice.

Visited for the first time a few days ago and was a bit shocked at the prices but the place was relatively busy but free tables available. Hated the sign on the door and on walls ( just in case you missed it coming in!) re unable to accept card payments for anything under £15. £13.90 for two scones with butter and jam, a latte and a cappuccino I thought was a bit too much as the coffee’s, I felt, we’re not that strong and really my latte was like drinking hot milk with touch of coffee flavour. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I will not be putting this place on my revisits list.

Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon toasties and tea/coffee. No problems with the quality of the food or the staff, they were young and very courteous. Toasties were served on a salad base which was a nice addition. Will be going back, but maybe by then they might have thought about adding some light background music, as if it's quiet, as it was when we were there, the ambience was slightly lacking as everyone seemed to be talking in a very hushed way.

Now I know everyone says this on here but I really don’t like to leave bad reviews and this is a first. I would like to apologise to the staff there as I was quite brusque when I got the bill today and I know it’s not their fault. However the manager or owner or whoever sets the prices here should be ashamed- I paid £10.65 for a very average and small baked potato. Shocking price! What’s more I was charged £1.50 for the extra cheese which amounted to a tablespoon at most. I will not be returning here and unless you have cash to flash I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Visited today having booked a table for 2/30, thinking I had booked for afternoon tea. Was very busy when I arrived with 1 member of staff waiting the tables. When the order eventually got taken I ordered afternoon tea for 2. A couple of minutes later the waiter arrived back asking if I had pre booked afternoon tea. I told him when I booked the table it would be for afternoon tea. He said he had no record of this and as such there wasn’t enough scones and therefore they couldn’t serve it. I then re ordered a baked potato with prawns, he then returns 2 mins later to say there was no potatoes or prawns. I then settled for a bang average toastie ! There was also no milk or no cakes left either. By all means go here if your willing to accept whatever is left on the menu but if not avoid this place at all costs. Have given this establishment custom for many years and I’m very disappointed. Will not be back

Lovely, quaint tearoom. Brought back memories from being there many moons ago. The food was nice but rather expensive for what you get. Soup was delicious but toasties disappointing. I would certainly return with my elderly mother. Most customers are of a certain vintage so it can be rather noisy in such a small space! We were served by a young lady with long auburn hair and a young man. Both were extremely pleasant and helpful. The other young lady with the long dark hair wasn't the best. I ended up with most of my soup outside the bowl when she literally threw it at me. I must commend the good staff members. I also noted that the staff are immaculately turned out. Will return and happy to recommend

A good lunch was ruined by the service, which frankly was dreadful. The tearoom was certainly by no means full so no excuse for the lack of attention from the staff. We enjoyed our two-course lunch but once we had finished our main course we were completely ignored whilst the waitress chatted to a couple she obviously knew for something like fifteen minutes. Totally unacceptable - we would have taken coffee and scones / cakes to finish but by the time we were approached by the waitress it was too late. We will not be back

With a warm welcome, and an extensive lunch menu, this is an ideal venue for a variety of social occasions, in our case a group of friends from the past. With no intrusive music and well separated tables, conversation so often difficult in restaurants today was easy, and each course of the meal, which involved coordinating many requirements arrived with precision. There were interesting dishes such as croissant with bacon and brie, and rolls which came warm with plenty of butter. The meringue as a dessert was memorable, as I recall from years ago. One caution however, the portions were large, the plates full and it was difficult to complete a full three course meal.

The tearoom was quite busy when we arrived but Sam the waiter managed to get us a table. We went for the tuna mayonnaise sandwich served with crisps on the side, and tea and coffee. If visiting a tearoom you must have cakes! We went for a fruit scone and a date loaf, both excellent. The wishing well is renowned for it’s scones. Some area’s for improvement. Not keen on the milk jugs sitting on the tables, milk can-start to turn quickly, especially in warm weather, would be better to bring a small jug of milk out for each new table sitting, as is the norm for other tea rooms.Toilets do not have paper towels (have paper towel holder but mostly always empty)or hot hand drier, cotton towel that is nearly always wet and probably full of germs from the use by multiple customers, very unhygienic for a place serving food.Menu on the pricey side for what you get in comparison to similar establishments.Good points.Friendly waiting staff.Home baking. You get a refill for your coffee.

Having been to the wishing well a number of times over the last 20 odd years my husband and I came in for lunch. When we came in we noted that although very dated it was clean and tidy. On sitting at a table we noted that the milk was sitting out in small milk jugs which isn’t ideal in this heat however we went with it. We ordered afternoon tea for two at £11 per head. A short time after ordering the young man advised us that due to it being a busy day there were no scones left for the afternoon tea. We did think this was strange as afternoon tea starts from 2.30 pm and this was 2.36 pm. Anyway he said we could get pancakes and empire biscuits instead. We received one pot of tea between two and was advised that if we needed more hot water to tip up the tea to just ask. The afternoon tea came with three tiny finger sandwiches each, one tiny thin pancake each, one empire biscuit each and a smallMeringue each. The top plate had butter, cream and jam. To say we were hugely disappointed was an understatement. For £11 per head we would have expected way more than that. Needless to say we finished what we had and took our empire biscuits home so we could have another cup of tea as the teapot was empty. We both agreed also that they were the worst empire biscuits we have ever eaten (and we are both lovers of empire biscuits so have tried a lot). The biscuit was tasteless as was the jam and the icing sickly. Really disappointed in our visit and won’t be back. Maybe the sandwiches are better but seriously avoid the afternoon tea.

Visited here last weekend for afternoon tea and lunch for 4. When you walk in, you feel like you’ve been transported back several decades; I wouldn’t describe it as quaint but old fashioned and grubby. The brown carpet is in dire need to replacement, as are the toilet facilities. 2 of us ordered the broccoli soup which resembled bowls of vomit and didn’t taste much better. My sister ordered a simple cheese toastie and the cheese had the consistency of scrambled eggs as if it had been melted and reformed several times maybe? Now on to the main reason for going here, a conveniently located afternoon tea. I was willing to pay £11 per person, expecting the experience would meet a reasonable standard. It didn’t. The £11 is for 1 sandwich, 1 scone, 2 cakes and 1 cup of tea, I think we can agree all round that’s quite a disappointment. I noticed the average age of customers was around 75, so the place is perhaps surviving from locals memories of it as a good place to gather?

Greeted by a friendly lady we were soon seated and tucking into gorgeously light and tasty fruit scones, butter and jam. We had a pot of decaf tea and a refillable filter coffee. The tea shop was relaxing and soon started to get busy. The place was spotlessly clean with plenty of tables and an extensive fairly priced menu. There is an invitation to look over the rear garden but we didn’t have time. We hope to visit again. Really super and unexpected find. Must check Trip Advisor more frequently.

GOOD hews ?the day by day fare going out to other customers ( place was still packed ) still looked as good as always, and certainly looked to warrant the good reports the Wishing Well is getting ! so i feel that it was wrong meal in a place which ,in my view should really stick a bit closer to what it does to absolute perfection we will certainly go back to what certainly rates as one of the best coffeeshops around

I have been visiting this tearoom for many years with my elderly mum . Today I knew it would be busy so went in to the tearoom to enquire if they had a table before I got my mum out of the car . I was informed the table in the corner was free so I told the two waiting staff that I would go and get my mum from the car . It took me a couple of minutes due to my mums’ disability but when I went in the table had people at it . When I said to the waitress , she said ‘oh dear’ and then proceeded to say there was a table in the conservatory which is too far for my mum . I told her I was disappointed that she had gave the table away , when I had informed her I would get my mum from the car . She answered she hadn’t heard me , which was untrue . Oh what’s happened wishing well ? I had good memories of a once friendly , courteous place where nothing was too much bother but old memories is what I will have as I will never return . Unless you smarten up your approach and improve customer care , the demise of this establishment is not far away !

I was driving through Eaglesham and needed food, so searched for cafes in Eaglesham and this was the first on the list (It really was that complicated !). Old whitewashed house converted into cafe, street parking. Not wheelchair accessible as it is an old building with one step at front door. A traditional tearoom open 7 days and a Saturday evening. Tea served in a lovely white China tea pot (matching cup, saucer, side plate and milk jug), waiter in smart white shirt, black apron etc yet didn’t feel old fashioned. Ham sandwich was £3.75 and the meringue was £5.50 or vice versa im not sure as I asked the price of the cake and was told £3.75 but I can't quite believe that those little sandwiches with 4 crisps on the side were over £5 our afternoon was most enjoyable but the extras I ordered to take home were in my opinion overpriced.

I have been visiting this establishment for a good few years now. The savoury and sweet stuff is amazing, the kitchen staff work so hard which is clear to see. The service from the kitchen is excellent and contrary to some reviewers, who I feel have been a bit unfair re the decor, carpets etc....which I feel is fitting with with the ambience of the place. Why would you start hoovering carpets when people were eating in the middle of the day ?! However, I think lately the hard work in the kitchen does not transfer well from the current waiting staff unfortunately. The young girls...perhaps students.... Who worked there before were very polite and courteous but the male waiter who served us on this occasion, who was previously nice appeared unhappy and made us feel like a nuisance. From a business point of view I feel the excellent work of the owner/kitchen staff is unfortunately not conveyed to the shop floor. Disappointed on this occasion.

If you take the time to come off the M77 and come this wonderful tea-room in a beautiful village it will be time well spent. My 91 year old mother and I were given a warm welcome by all staff and felt completely at home. The tea and scone were delicious. Other diners had opted for an afternoon tea package and this is on our wishlist for our next visit. In addition to an excellent tearoom, all customers are welcome to walk through the garden which leads you to the eponymous Wishing Well - the perfect end to such an enjoyable experience.

I have been visiting the Wishing Well for over 30 years and never been disappointed. It has changed hands over the years but never changed the quality of food or service. An excellent venue for coffee and cake or for a delicious lunch. Everything is fresh and of the highest quality and all served with a smile.

Set in the heart of a nice leafy conservation village this cafe takes you back in time with its old fashioned setting, lovely fresh baking and very friendly staff. Opposite is a nice big park for a lovely stroll with views of rolling hills and country side.

The Wishing Well TearoomVery antiquated style Tearoom which suited the age of the clientele. The place is a buzz of chatting customers. However As I sit on my own and take the ambience all in ... Old fashioned would be an understatement. There is a carpet possibly to give a homely feel/look is littered with crumbs - this obviously isn't on the important list! For me it totally dates the place and doesn't work. This is in a prime location and should be kept in with the times not staying stationary! Coffee is good - unfortunately they were out of plain/fruit scones ... @ 15.00Whatever happened to afternoon tea & scones?Empire biscuit was tastelessMenu for all was acceptable however prices leaned towards expensive. This place has seen better days.Somehow the outside, my main reason for stopping, promised so much and I so wanted my experience to be good but this simply didn't materialise.

I love the wishing well. The food is fantastic and the service always excellent. The cakes are just too tempting. Best to book in advance if wanting a larger table

Had a beautiful high 'tea on Saturday evening at this quaint tea room !! Well I call it a tea room but feel it's more than that I also had a beautiful lunch there the week Before the food is quality home cooking style and cakes and scones to die for my husband and I had the high tea £12 each it was amazing value for money there is a section of mains you can opt for of you don't fancy the traditional fish I had the steak pie it was delicious and the portions are good !! to start with you have toast an preserves and followed by the main and finished up with. Cake selection and scones Hot out the oven best scones I've tasted in a long time and followed with tea or coffee an all for £12 a head I think this is fantastic and in a beautiful atmospheric cottage style tea room just added to the pleasure of our dining experience, the staff are super friendly and polite and efficient and the service was fast no waiting for ages for service !! Unfortunately never got the young waitresses name but she was so sweet and lovely nothing was a trouble to her and wishing well should feel blessed to have such a lovely member of staff working for them !! Anyway all I can say is I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty lunch or cake platter and coffee early evening meal they don't sell alcohol wish they did but you can bring your own bottle there is. A £3 corkage fee so next time I'm taking my wine with me I had a lovely evening and I can't wait to return very soon !! So thank you wishing well for a lovely dinner and a lovely evening X

The food was nice at best but the carpet was disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been hovered in a while. Service was fine.

Met up with a friend for afternoon tea at this cosy wee tearoom in Eaglesham. It was busy inside but we got a lovely table by the window. Our afternoon tea was lovely and great value for money; we couldn't eat all of the homemade cakes!!! Would recommend for a wee treat.

I have been coming to the wishing well with my mum for many years . We have always found it to be a lovely , friendly place with good food . My mum has dementia and I have to compliment the staff for the way that they are always so nice to her , for which I am very appreciative. Today I visited with her and one of her friends from the day centre they attend . Both of them had a lovely time , enjoying the cake and coffee , but most of all the quaintness and ambience of this remarkable place . We will be returning very soon.

Visited for afternoon tea on a miserable wet/ hail-stoning afternoon. The atmosphere was very welcoming and cosy. We had afternoon tea for 2 adults. There was a choice of sandwich filling, freshly baked scone and 2 cakes each with tea / coffee for only £10. The waitress was very helpful and the food delicious.

Nice setting and friendly staff, but tomato, beans, scrambled egg, 1 poor quality sausage and a bit of bacon did not make for an impressive breakfast. Tea and toast were included, but I thought the breakfast could have been heartier.

I have visited The Wishing Well since the 1970's, under several different owners and have had some experiences which were better than others.......however, my Daughter and I treated our two lovely neighbours to Afternoon Tea last Saturday to celebrate their Diamond Anniversary and it was just splendid!Freshly made and we'll filled sandwiches....warm scones...soft butter and thick raspberry jam......followed by delicious meringues.....we cleared the plates! We had to pay an extra £4:40....but that covered two extra pots of tea and an additional pot of coffee.Great value at £10 each.......highly recommended!

This place is the usual pit stop after a weekend cycle, it's an extremely popular place which is no great surprise. Surprised it's not full of more cyclist filling their face with the excellent cake and coffee on offer. Never been here in the evening but the breakfast and sandwich menu during the day are great. If your passing through Eaglesham then you must drop in and put on some weight! Friendly staff and a nice area at the back or in the conservatory when the weathers fine.

Love this place and the food. The menu caters to all tastes but the charm of the decor and homely atmosphere contributes to a lovely experience. The cakes are lovely and hard to choose which to have so just go ahead and have the tea and cake option each.

Visited this quaint place when I was vising Glasgow, a drive well worth taking to Eaglesham. A lovely little village with this beautiful tea room. The staff in the wishing well were kind, helpful and exteremley welcoming. Deciding upon the steak pie that sounded delicious on the menu I was definatley not dissapointed! 5 star food and a lasting memory of the great time I had on my holiday. I would recommend this to all types and ages and for people looking for a good time and a very pleasant afternoon or evening.

Hadnt been for years but family from out of town had fond memories and wanted to go.Nowadays there's so much choice of bright modern places. It was okay but I wont be in a hurry to go back. Perhaps the miserable dull day didn't help.Menu was a bit limited and old fashioned and more than average prices for a less than average portion.

Stood at the entrance to be seated, table for two, told thsts ok- girl quickly walks away without explaining follow me, comes back to explain this, proceed to follow. When questioning items on the menu, server seemed uninformed and not trained. Ordered and served quickly. This place is nice enough but the staff all seem to be not trained and doing a part time summer job rather being served or greeted by someone who has worked in the industry long enough to have simple hospitality etiquette or training.

Can't understand the good reviews, unless we were very unlucky. Firstly, on a positive note, the staff were lovely, very attentive and welcoming. No issues at all. Both my brother and I opted for a Scottish breakfast. Served one of each, bacon, potato scone, square sausage and fried egg, with toast. The only thing that got pass marks was the toast. Nice. Everything else was anemic. The potato scone looked like it was dipped in oil and served. Bacon had barely seen the pan/grill as was the sausage. Just disappointing. And at £8.00/head, not good value either.

just received an email telling us that from the 5th July the Castle in Newton Mearns will become a "residents" only restaurant!! BIG DIAPPOINTMENT! We have been diners there for years despite there being several closer, The staff are excellent, friendly and always ready to help, We will miss this restaurant and fail to see the economic reason!

Visited today as we were in Clarkston. There were so many offers to choose from Burger and pint £10 appealing to my husband then we noticed a seniors menu 2 course £6.99, 3 course £7.99 my husband had his order ready before I’d even looked at the menu 🤣. In a nutshell it was for the money fabulous. We both had the soup and bread to start then I chose Fish, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce, husband had hunters chicken with salad and chips we then had desserts chocolate brownie with ice cream and a Jam Roly poly with custard. It was delicious and the service by Craig was excellent so much so we stayed for another drink and had a lovely Friday afternoon and will definitely be back.
