The Overlee in East Renfrewshire

Visited today as we were in Clarkston. There were so many offers to choose from Burger and pint £10 appealing to my husband then we noticed a seniors menu 2 course £6.99, 3 course £7.99 my husband had his order ready before I’d even looked at the menu 🤣. In a nutshell it was for the money fabulous. We both had the soup and bread to start then I chose Fish, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce, husband had hunters chicken with salad and chips we then had desserts chocolate brownie with ice cream and a Jam Roly poly with custard. It was delicious and the service by Craig was excellent so much so we stayed for another drink and had a lovely Friday afternoon and will definitely be back.

Absolutely awful, was quite surprised as it had been recommended. At first we went in asked to be seated had to sit on the floor. Barmaid, blonde girl, the walked past us as if we didn't exist. Trampled all over my Gillet (that's jee-lay) Ordered three burgers got given frozen farm foods burgers between two slices of Mother's Pride with no butter. I am now vegan and no-one talks to me, All I want is my the dog they stole off me back

Not too noisy at lunch time. Friendly staff. Good choices. Small portions available for pensioners on request.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon while in the area...brilliant pub and nice food with cracking service...next time we're passing through we'll be stopping back in.

Great selection of Belhaven beers. Food was surprisingly good, and I would happily recommend. Only 1 member of staff when we arrived and considering the pub was very quiet, service was way too slow. About the 6th Thursday visit at lunch time. No problem with service and food excellent. Love the salt and chilli chicken and chips.

Nice pub however the food wasn't the best, the staff we encountered were lovely however the food was very poor and drink prices were on the high side.

Where do I start, from the moment you walk In to this place you'll enjoy yourself, the staff are friendly, very welcoming, the explain that you needs answers too. The food came quite quickly and my goodness it's was delicious, the wine was very good..I cant speak anymore highly of this place and will most definitely be back and bring friends and family with us

The team at overlee put on a great night for our party for the start of the Euros2024. We had great communication in advance to ensure our specific needs were met. Extra effort was made by a DJ and piper adding to a special night. The service on the night was fantastic, especially on such a manic night for the team. Six stars from five!!!

We were delighted that Craig at the overlee was able to show the rugby tonight for the Glasgow warriors semi final. Having several screens meant football and rugby fans were all kept happy! Fantastic service and we will be back next week to watch the final.

Had a lovely afternoon on Saturday with several drinks and food. Excellent choice of draft and bottled beers. Deals on wines and spirits including a 'malt of the month'. Ordered tex mex sharer and katsu chicken loaded fries with two drinks and a mixer for £20 odd. Really good value. Staff very attentive and manager setting high standard to enhance customer experience. Happy to return on a regular basis.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Very friendly staff. I took my wife out for a cosy meal for two. Having worked in the pub trade I look at things from a professional view. The tables were spotless, the menus were clean, the cutlery was spotless and shiny. The staff were professional and friendly. The food was lovely and filling. I would recommend the Overlee to everyone. Oh and it's dog friendly

Fantastic nite at Overlee,s new menu tasting nite,the food was amazing the service was fantastic and the attention to detail by Craig was second to none,his friendly helpful attitude and customer service is first class, never fails to deliver and goes above and beyond...looking forward to many more visits.Thank you so much Craig and all of your staff.

First time vist to this pub and won’t be the last from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you fell comfortable the food topped it off with great food especially the halloumi fries and food was prepared fresh and out in a reasonable time all in all food top class. The staff were so welcoming and know all about best food to try and went out their way to help us and made it an enjoyable experience so we would come back. Would like to mention one staff member his name is Craig He stood out by going beyond and above to accommodate us which wasn’t easy being with fussy eaters So would definitely recommend you try this wee hidden gem.

Kids menu was mostly not available No sausages and out of the 5 Sweets 3 not available, including Ice cream! Some main menu not available, probably easier to tell what is available! Very disappointing

Was in for food and a drink at the weekend there, can’t fault the service of the food or the service… Staff were overly pleasant and the atmosphere in the pub was very good! No complaints whatsoever.

I had arranged a function for my mum and dad's 60th wedding anniversary and it was a brilliant night. The staff were really helpful and welcoming.The buffet provided was fresh, plentiful and very tasty. The Overlee had a good vibe and a great atmosphere. I would like to give a particular mention for the assistant manager Craig as he went above and beyond to make sure our night was a success from my first phone call. I would highly recommend The Overlee for a function or for a few drinks and a bite to eat with friends. Thank you again to the Team for making our family celebration a success.

Salty squid inedible, no refund, no feedback 😑

We booked the side room for a function on Saturday. During the organising process the staff were so helpful and accommodating. On the day the room was perfect, the food was amazing and the staff made it such a great day for everyone. Would recommend this room for anyone looking to celebrate an event.

Food and service was very good, no issues and will definitely be back. The servers, were very helpful and it had a nice atmosphere.

Lovely pub with food. Separate area for watching sport with tables. The other side is more like a restaurant and is quieter.

I had my work leaving night here, booked the function room from 3pm and was there till closing time! Food was lovely and had many drinks and too many shots.

We visited the Overlee for Christmas dinner this year . . The atmosphere was sparkly cosy and warm when we walked in and the whole pub looked lovely . The dinner was absolutely delicious… nice and hot and the menu was so varied and a great choice of dishes. . The chef did amazingly well as the pub was so busy but everyone was complimenting the food . Christmas Day dinner in a pub is often bland and not particularly tasty …. The opposite is true at the overlee . Well done chef … food was perfect . The staff were bright and smiley and very engaging . Thank you to Craig Kayleigh Emma and Billy for making our Christmas Day dinner so special. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were just lovely despite having to work on Christmas day themselves I hope that Bellhaven Brewery recognises these amazing staff members as brilliant ambassadors. Popped in today for a bite. A big "pubby" and food was okay. Hunters chicken was heated in a microwave and went hard. Starters were good as was the burger. Staff attentive and nice enough but food was mediocre! I shant return.

Was there for our Christmas do! Excellent value for money- £19.99 for 3 courses. There was LOADS of tasty food. We also had 3 bottles of Prosecco between us. £34 quid each 😱😍 canny beat that 👍

Absolutely atrocious. Went with two colleagues for lunch. Waited an hour and a half and still no food! We had to cancel order as my friends were already late back for work. They also charged us for our drinks (non alcoholic) any restaurant worth their salt would have apologised profusely and waved the drinks. Restaurant was not that busy. Having worked in the catering trade as a chef and also front of house. I know what I’m talking about. Apparently chef was still finding his way about the kitchen. Heaven help him or her when restaurant because really busy as it does at Christmas as they are gonna be …..d!!

What a great way to start December ..... Great night was had by all starting with the Overlee Festive menu ... Options for all..... Bigger group so menu choices managed in advance by Craig and Kayleigh xx A few drinks served by the lovely staff helped get everyone up on the dance floor .... Absolutely LOVE this place. Staff go above and beyond and the atmosphere is amazing. Decor is beautiful and welcoming. The food is second to non and just make my tastebuds melt. Will 100% recommend to friends, family and colleagues.

Went in at the weekend with my kids for a quick bite to eat. Ordered from the festive menu, staff were very attentive and really great with the kids. The restaurant was very clean and festive with its decor. Would definitely return !

Went with my siblings for Christmas Dinner. We were all amazed with the quality and quantity of food supplied. The service was excellent and the staff were so helpful and efficient. My siblings from the North of Glasgow were so complimentary about my local bar/ restaurant. A special mention for staff especially Frances and LeaAnne.

Visited with friends for an early meal and drinks at 4 o’clock on Saturday. After eventually ordering our food (after going back and forward to the bar twice) as several items on menu were unavailable! Had to ask someone to clear our starter plates, and explained we were leaving at 6.30pm. Then had to ask for our main courses again! Our main courses did not arrive until after 6pm despite having ordered at 4:30pm!! We had taxis booked for 6.30pm and had to change them to 6.45pm. No one asked us how our food was or if everything was ok etc etc - didn’t have time to complain as we were in too much of a rush and there was no sign of any manager/supervisor to complain too - very poor experience 😟

It's not great as a member of staff greet us by saying 2 min 5 mins later I had to speak to the same member of staff then to be told they were not taking walking food only people who had booked.x

First visit as it was convenient for who we were meeting, at Sunday lunchtime a few of the menu choices were unavailable. Staff a bit too chatty, as in we were there to catch up with friends but our waitress spent more time chatting about herself. Nice enough, but not why we went. Quite mediocre food and in some cases tasteless. Wouldn't rush back or recommend.

Frequently visit the overlee for food and drinks service is always fantastic, food is tasty and the staff are lovely definitely will be back!!

We hosted my dad’s 75th birthday at The Overlee and it was a great night! The venue was lovely, function suite was an ideal size for the number of people we had and the staff were really attentive. Would 100% recommend.

The customer service and staff were first class. Was out for my friends birthday dinner, and the food was excellent. Special mention to craig as he lovely. will be back again !!!

The Overlee is handy for large groups to meet in because of the large space, lots of options for large tables etc. But the natural light doesn't come throughout the bar so it can feel a bit dark, the atmosphere is lacking and it can have a whiff of not great fried food,

Our waitress Leanne very helpful and attentive. As a disabled patron she went out of her way to help us out when ordering. Definitely deserves a raise.

The BEST pub in Clarkston hands down and great value for money. We were only visiting the area and opted to eat there two days in a row after an amazing experience. Great ambience too and staff were very attentive.

Went for food, after unsuccessfully trying 3 other places. I must admit going up the stairs it felt like a uni pub. However, once inside upstairs it is welcoming, atmospheric and unpretentious. Lots of different area, sports bit, comfy seats, booths, tables and a function room. 2 ladies on duty were super friendly and genuine, excellent customer service. Would say food portions a bit small, definitely on the chip front. The baked potato side was lovely and fluffy. Definitely would go back.

Was in there 9/4/23, the young barstaff were hopeless when pulling a pint, to busy chewing gum to pay attention to customers imo. Food was mediocre, the quiz was good but took an eternity to complete. Most staff were friendly and polite. Would I return 🤔

Salad with halloumi was far to big, such a waste of food. Toilets were not clean, each cubicle needed attention. Only 2 staff on shift so service was slow.

Great selection of lagers if that is what you like. I am not so Belhaven Best as it is a Belhaven/Green King pub. Does have one other beer and Guinness. Well staffed and a pretty big pub where you can escape the TV if you wish. Sells food but did not sample. My first visit and happy to try again.

Lovely visit to the Overlee! Food was delicious and excellent portion sizes. We were pleasantly surprised at the cost of our bill - definitely value for money! Staff very helpful & knowledgeable. For it being such a large pub, the place was warm cosy & comfortable to sit and enjoy our evening. They have a small function area to which looks ideal for small get togethers. Well be back again soon for another visit.

I attended kids arts and crafts for Halloween with my grandson, warm welcome, very well organised and my grandson loved it. Leighanne was great with the kids. 👏❤️

Was in on Friday 28/10/22 for a meal late on. First two choices I asked for were " off menu" I was told by young female. My 3rd choice was Rump steak, Very small portion of meat and chips. Very disappointed as my previous experience of portion size has been positive. Attitude of staff was were not caring about my custom in the least- coffee cold!

First up, the staff in here are fantastic.They seem to enjoy their jobs and I would take from this the managers are also good at their jobs. Friendly and efficient and a credit to the establishment. The food was impressive too. Had the fish and chips and wings to start. The wings where perfect, next time I am taking in my hot sauces and trying a hot ones challenge. The atmosphere was perfect too. For the rare occasions a few of us meet up to drink, we have in the past gone to Parklands as its on our doorstep. This place is totally worth the 3 mile walk there and 3 mile wobbly walk back. No sound from the TVs or music playing. The loudest noise being the fruit machine which we discovered was on the other side of the partition where we sat.(Table 31). Nice choice of beers on tap, ice breaker being my choice for the duration. Finally, the toilets are pristine. Well maintained and looked after.

Mostly the staff can't do enough for you. The food is excellent and portion sizes not huge but rather just the right size. Staff very knowledgeable on menu items.

First time in Overlee for a few years.. and all I can say is it was Fab!. From sorting out a table for 10 with no issues to the very friendly staff..really made us feel extremely welcome.. great sense of humour and fun. Only disappointment was the girl serving us at bar threatened to squoosh coke over my husband for being cheeky but didn't follow through 😀 now that would have really made my night 🤣 thanks Guys for great night!

A great pub if you want to watch football. Prices are what you would expect. Perhaps it's just a midweek thing but very few in tonight, a shame really because the staff are great.
