Excellent food cost very reasonable ice cream is delicious

Been going here for the ice cream since I was child. The best ice cream in Scotland I've tasted only other one that comes clos is genesis on victories road. Trust me I've tried alot of places.

Been coming here for a few months now sporadically for the Bumper Brunch. Its a cozy wee place with good service and really friendly staff. Brilliant choice of food on the menu and a great selection of ice creams to choose from. Would recommend to anyone.

Best to book in advance as it's very busy at lunchtime and it's not difficult to work out why. A very nice menu and the food was piping hot and nicely cooked. Got charged £1 for tap water which is the first time ever that anywhere has happened.

I come here most Sundays and I love the place , the cafe has the feel of an old one from my childhood and brings back so many fine memories, then we have the best meal in the shop my fave the steak pie its amazing I highly recommend it along with their homemade ice cream , along with the other foods they do I’d definitely come for a visit

Really poor actually, I looked at review for somewhere where I was local and Derby came up. Looking good. Asked for roll no roll far enough late on a sunday.Said I could have my crispy bacon and fried egg in a sandwich. Could I have it toasted yes was the reply. Then girl said do u want it to be folded over or like something and I got confused.and any ways.....two bready sandwiches came out eggs a bit jelly,bacon ping with that salty jeely I have been sitting or microwaved thing with oily fat no crispiness, latte weak......oh pavlova was nice 13.55, seems to be doing some inventory as well so shouting about whether they had malteasers and boxes getting launched . Ladders moved etc , so chilled not.

Ice-cream to die for but expensive

Great for lunch/brunch as good selection, soup, lunch specials and all day breakfast plus superb freshly baked deserts. Also Cakes, coffee and traditional ice creams. Friendly staff and good service.

Always has a q for the wonderful ice cream but the cafe is also a wee gem. Not many seats maybe 16 or so, but great pasta dishes, soup, snadiches, rolls and baked potatoes. Pasta well worth trying and the prices are very affordable, average around £6, amazing.

Delicious cheese and ham toastie I shared with my pooch. Although not yet dog friendly cafe I could still sit outside with her. Shame wasn't yet dog friendly as lots of dog walkers in Linn Park not 50 metres away.

Absolutely awesome lunch and what's even better is they accommodate for gluten free although doesn't state on the menu quality and price really good

Great wee cafe. Good food & prices and polite, helpful staff. My only grouch and the ONLY reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the long wait to pay sometimes - the reason is that you pay your bill at the same till as their wee shop customers - so have been behind 3 people all getting multiple ice creams etc - best part of 10 mins standing waiting to pay my bill. That said though still my favourite wee cafe :D

Great as usual. Had peach melba which was perfect with lots of raspberry sauce. Staff really friendly and helpful. Worth the drive from East Kilbride for a great ice cream.

An institution in the South Side of Glasgow. Just vanilla ice cream, but proper ice cream, not whippy yeuk. They also do meals, but I travel from East Kilbride just for the ice cream.

Nice little cafe with nice food and friendly staff. It's small so I always book a table for lunch. Prices are reasonable. Rum baba to finish is yum yum .

Saturday lunch time - pooped in on spec as it’s our local, and they found as a table for 3 at a busy Saturday lunchtime. We had mains and booked to return later in day for deserts. Great value and super friendly staff, as always with Derby, we’ll be back!

As a regular visitor to the Derby Cafe, I would highly recommend a visit. Food is great and the ice cream is fantastic! Well worth a visit if you haven’t been.

Looked good on the way past and not disappointed. excellent full breakfast and toast for just over £5 and my wife’s omelette was terrific. Very friendly staff team

Serendipity can be a wonderful thing . My girlfriend and I were travelling in the car to the garden centre until we felt the car losing power and coming to a stop however managed to park safely . Whilst waiting on the recovery we noticed this little place and decided to dine in and we were very satisfied . The cafe is really nice inside with a homely feel with an old fashioned twist . The food was quite nice although I wish I had a bigger portion . I ordered the halloumi fries whilst Crystal ordered the chicken tikka baked potato . This is a nice little place to stop for a bite to eat especially as it is really close to Linn Park . Would recommend popping in even if there is not s breakdown .

This cafe restaurant was a long established reputation and still serves excellent home made ice cream. Despite being very close we only occasionally use it as the lay out is pokey and service ok. The cakes and fast food look fine so if it is fuel you need thats fine. If it is quality coffee in a comfortable environment then maybe not. I think the cafe misses an opportunity as it has a reputation and venue which could work well.

Online states it is open till 22.00 however we got there at 20.00 and it was closed.So not able to review food or service.

I had a special birthday dinner here for 13 of us. The staff were so lovely and had made one huge table for us to sit it. I come here all the time so I know how good the food is but for 13 of us all at the one time it was exceptional. The Chicken Santa Lucia and the Lasagne were amazing and for dessert we all had snowballs and ice cream. We took in our own wine. It really was a brilliant night.

Had a lovely meal and kept room for a dessert. Ordered a chocolate fudge sundae but agreed to share with favourite cousin. Big mistake.....It's too good to share!

Shocked at previous review that slated the lasagne!!!! If theres is anything the Derby is known for (apart from its excellent ice cream) is its lasagne. I have known friends to order it by the tray when they're having people round so i'm baffled at anyone not enjoying it (unless you hate lasagne in which case why order it?) Been a customer for over 20yrs and everyone knows you have to book as it is small and does get busy but most Derby customers know this. xxx

Read review from sillydiner that didn't book. Tut tut. Been coming to the Derby for years. Thought every one knew how busy it is. Place was jumping when we arrived. Ordered the special Derby stovies and they were fab. Just what was needed on a cold January evening. Couldn't resist finishing with 'probably' the best ice cream in the world. Gold star service from the lovely staff. Will be back soon.

The derby is a traditional Scottish Cafe, does a mean Roll on Square and Ice Cream. Beloved of the local Greyser community and 1pm is deadly most days for a table in OAP wonderland. I like it though the School age waiting staff at the weekend could be doing with a bit of training.

Cameleon, un café que piensa que es un restaurante de lujo, después de que le dijeran que todos los asientos están reservados, realmente busqué a mi alrededor buscando al maitre y pensando que estaba en Devonshire, pero lamentablemente los alrededores eran un CAFE, pedí una comida para llevar que se llevó 29 en 14 minutos y una hamburguesa quemada (casera que podría agregar), 2/10 y casi 10 con una lata de gaseosa.

Tuvo que tener una cena temprana a nivel local y la comida allí fue descrita como "encantadora".

Acabo de visitar un lugar de almuerzo mientras un paseo y me quedé muy decepcionada con mi comida. Yo que me enviaran de vuelta, pero es un lugar pequeño y yo no quería causar un alboroto. Pedí un panini con queso de cabra, cebolla roja y secos de tomate. El sandwich que llegó apenas cualquier contundente. El queso de cabra era principalmente la piel, había un pedazo de tomate en cada mitad y unos trozos pequeños de cebolla. Quizás fue simplemente una mala elección, pero estoy muy decepcionado y no ganas de volver. Una lástima.

perhaps some people skills should be given to the rather lacklustre service at the counter.Had usual ice cream however there must be some downsizing in that area and rather stale cones. What a pity as the Derby was in a class of it,s own.

La comida y el helado siempre son buenas y es por eso que vamos a volver, pero el servicio sólo se pone cada vez peor. Las jóvenes que son miserables en su camarera trabajo y formación básica de servicio al cliente. Una pena, pero es poner a la gente. Espero que hagan mejoras pronto.

Went for some ice cream to and sat in. Ice cream is excellent but........ what's happened to this place????? Floor filthy tables sticky off hand service tables left with dirty dishes my advice get a cleaner in!!!!

We regularly go yo Derby for ice cream take away and go to resturant for dinner We went last night and as usual they didnt dissapoint Allison is so welcoming staff are young and lovely and food fantastic very reasonanle prices ans bring your own wine sadly couldn't manage desert as we had starter's but maybe next time we will

Volver a casa después de un largo día en la oficina, manejando a través de Netherlee nos dimos cuenta de nada bueno en la nevera en casa para comer decidió que era el momento para hacer una parada en un establecimiento que ha estado allí por años y aparte de haber probado su helado conocido nunca tuve la oportunidad de probar una comida.

Nice wee cafe with good, friendly service. The ice cream is the main attraction and is a must! Worth a visit.

Ha sido bastante tiempo desde que he visitado este lugar y pensamos que sería agradable volver como yo estaba en el barrio. Debería haber pegado en mis recuerdos felices porque estaban rotos los minutos que entré. Me encantaba el aspecto y la sensación de un tipo de café, pero la pasada derby ha sido atrapado en este por demasiado tiempo. Mirando los enseres fijos y accesorios el sitio ahora necesita una reforma completa. Parece sucia y completamente abarrotada con amigas, que sería difícil de mantener un ojo en las fechas de caducidad, etc. Ahora a la hora del café. Nos sirvió una chica agradable joven aunque ella era un poco olvidadizo con algunas cosas, como la leche para el té. De hecho, tuvimos que ir a conseguir nosotros mismos. La señora mayor, aunque no desagradable no era muy amable y me dieron la impresión de que estaban interrumpiendo su almuerzo. Este lugar solía ser ocupado con una buena clientela, disfrutar de buena comida en un ambiente agradable. Desgraciadamente ahora, que está en el pasado y seguirá siendo una memoria, como yo no volveré.

El Café derby no es muy grande pero tiene un ambiente cómodo y acogedor y un buen y variado menú. La zona de estar está separada de la barra y tiene asientos tipo de cabina. Aunque pequeño, no hay sensación de estar lleno. Bueno para comer o cenar.

We use the Derby on a regular basis the food is excellent however the waiting staff at weekends do not live up to expectations. They are very young and require training or supervision.Apart from that it us excellent

Thought I'd try the Derby again and to be fair the food was marginally better than before, which wasn't hard. What did make me laugh was the staff having a bit of a 'tiff' amongst themselves. As a result it took quite a while to get the near-average food to me but at least the wait was entertaining! Might be back for the side-show.

We went here on a Wednesday Afternoon for a light Lunch? It is a tight squeeze between tables, but we got to sit at the Window, which was an advantage, as no passing bodies to contend with. I'll get straight to the point. My Ham and Mushroom Omelette, was tough, and cooked way too long. Dark Brown, and solid as a rock. My companion had the French Toast with Bacon. I had some, as it was too large for her. It was okay, but basically 2 Bacon Rashers laid across some French Toast. This was served with Maple(?) Syrup. My Mocha, was pretty average, with hardly any Cocoa flavour, and weak Coffee taste as well. For £15.00, it was mediocre at best.

The Derby cafe still has the feel of a real cafe. The food is very good, with an extensive menu, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere quiet and cosy.

Went here for a Saturday brunch. Service was ok, staff were friendly enough.As for my dish ... soggy bagel despite asking for it on the side. Scrambled egg couldn't have been more than one egg. For some reason there was a side salad of tasteless lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and one slice of cucumber with no dressing.Mediocre a best

Reheated food brought to life in the microwave. Oh dear. Cutlery was dirty and the decor needs freshening up. Avoid.

Today came for a lunch with my husband we ordered a Prawn salad..came with grated cheddar cheese?..hmm.I had the fish and chips..fish was far too oily..full of grease..was so looking forward to it.We were also put off our food as we watch a pregnant waitress clean the table by swiping the mess left on table on to the floor?! This was pretty disgusting and NOT professional.Felt sorry for another customer as they asked for something and same waitress became bit rude and left table with a smirk.Sorry Derby but who hires the staff?! Don't think we will return

Visit here a lot of times and I must say it is always worth a visit. Nice and relaxing atmosphere. We'll be back again and again.

I visited the café after 15 years in Australia. I was so impressed, just as I remembered it. Wonderful, friendly, homely little café. Memories I'll never forget and the ice cream is to die for.

A longstanding tradition for most in the southside of Glasgow, the Derby cafe is great for ice creams, cakes, sweets and even a spot of lunch. Local cafe that everyone loves and generations have been.

Great little place for lunch , coffee or an ice cream also has a nice little sweet shop attached. Myself and my husband like to pop in for a Rum Baba ice cream, it is fab.

Staff in this so called cafe/restaurant clearly have no customers service skills. Rude at the best of times and clearly do not know how to speak to or how to look at paying customers without coming across as arrogant.

I work in the restaraunt a few doors down from the Derby but always go there for lunch to take away as the food is amazing, great prices and the staff are fantastic and really friendly. Highly rate.

A fairly cramped eating area, not exactly small child friendly. Ordered 3 drinks and 3 snacks/ meals. Food arrived, had to be asked to deliver drinks then asked again for the third drink, a small glass of milk. Will not be returning.

Cosy, comfortable and lovely home cooked food. Being small you get good service and a real caring attitude. Definitely worth a visit.

We were told that the cafe was too busy mid week to come in with a pram, despite the place being empty!Unbelievable attitude in the modern day and quite flabbergasted by the servers attitude.Customer service non existent and disgusted that a local business would be so prejudice against a mother and baby!!Wonder if they say the same to wheelchair users?

This is a regular place for my daughter and I to visit as we are always guaranteed a warm welcome and good food. The staff are always incredibly friendly and efficient. It is a traditional cafe, with the prices being very reasonable. Steak pie is a must! Their desserts are second to none and the ice cream is the best in Glasgow. Very child friendly.

I visited this cafe with my boyfriend, trying to escape the tumultuous wind and rain howling all around us in the moody streets of Muirend. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast which I ate without passing comment, and my boyfriend had a salmon bagel, which he ate without passing comment also. I ordered a ginger slice which was "yummers," as we say in Yorkshire, and my counterpart had a tiny empire biscuit, which he was not wholly satisfied with, considering the £1.50 price tag!

I thought we were walking into a deli but I discovered it is much more . . . it has the best ice cream in the area!!!

Friendly, relaxed service and atmosphere. Delicious traditional Scottish cafe food. The chips are perfect, the mushrooms in my chicken dish were fresh and nicely prepared, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. Amazing ice cream sundae desserts. Good prices. Will definitely be back.

Whilst the food is ok and suitable for a quick lunch, the staff are miserable! It was ages before she even realised we were there and she certainly hadn't had a good day in a while. She was misery personified! There was no interaction between her and her colleague. What a shame as this has the potential to be a great wee cafe with a buzzing atmosphere rather than a make do.

This local ice creamery in Netherlee offers a range of ice cream to eat in or take away .It's very reasonably priced a tub for 6 under 7£ There is the opportunity to eat a range of meals In , but the overwhelming sales push is on the ice cream and sweets

We enjoyed a three course evening meal for £28 including soft drinks. There is no licence but you can bring your own alcohol if you wish. There was a good selection on the menu and the food was tasty. The portions are not overlarge which meant we both had enough room to manage 3 courses. When I was growing up this was where we bought our ice cream and the vanilla was as delicious as ever.

The Derby Cafe is the only cafe in the Netherlee area. Its almost next door to a good Italian restaurant so be aware. The food is good, but portions can be small. Some staff could be a little friendlier, don't get me wrong, the majority are lovely. Good service and despite it being quite small, it has a nice wee atmosphere. Lacks the 'homemade' taste on the burgers. Please fix!

we often go down to the Derby as it is close to home. Lovely staff take your own bottle and lovely food great prices too. Must have are deserts all served with the best ice cream on the planet home made on the premises FANTASTIC .So nice i had a hen night there just before my wedding also the home made fabulous tablet (nicer than fudge Scottish special) which i used in my favours for my wedding Go there it isn't fancy but you will be back
