We visited for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. We chose to eat in the dinning room as prefer not to eat in dog friendly spaces. The restaurant was quiet but pleasant. The Sunday lunch was very good and served on very hot plates which I love. Beautiful pink beef. Crispy roast potatoes and creamy mash. Tasty flavourful gravy. Desert was pleasant but we were too full to really enjoy it. Will definitely return.

Had Sunday lunch with friends… The cost for what we received was ridiculously expensive. Two cervical type bowls of veg for 4 hungry guests, roast potatoes hard, small and bland, my plate was brought to the table and past over my friends sitting next to me and was left balancing on my cutlery, very unprofessional, the waiting staff dressed in a way that was not in keeping with such a high costing meal and restaurant, no one came to ask if the meal was alright, had to ask for extra gravy which over powered the whole meal, as non was offered. Very poor, meal and service, had the £14.00 service charge removed…. So much better when it was Ashfields.. WONT visit again……. Rip off for sure……

How can you mess up a Ploughman’s Lunch? Come to the D&C and see. Microwaved half baguette that went dry, crisp and stale immediately. Cheese was appalling. The worst type of cheap, tasteless, doughy cheddar. Pork pie that was missing the pork. We will not be returning.

We decided to book a family birthday celebration meal at the White Hart, as most of my family were brought up in the area. We were not disappointed, we recieved a warm welcome on arrival, great choice of drinks, excellent food at below average prices and good portions. A great memorable time was had by all.

After having loved the food & service here under the previous management, we decided to give this lovely pub restaurant a try again & we were so glad we did. This was a treat for me from my son & from my husband to his mum for Mother’s Day. The cheese soufflé to start was superb & a lovely sea bass mains to follow was just as good as was the burgers my son & husband had. As some reviewers have mentioned before, the service was a little slow considering we were the first diners of the day but we weren’t in any hurry so this didn’t bother us at all & the food was piping hot & delicious. A nice touch at the end of the meal was the small gift for the ladies on the table for Mothering Sunday - thank you. There were a few couples entering the restaurant throughout our meal who hadn’t booked & were left disappointed as they were informed the kitchen was at full capacity & couldn’t take any more covers so I would advise booking is recommended. We would love to return.

Given a Groupon voucher as a gift for this meal. We got the budget Groupon service. Small table tucked away. Tonight a long story short the rump top steak cut we were only able to have with this package was so chewey and poor it had to be re cooked just to be edible The monkfish cheeks I had as a starter was tiny and smothered in a curried sauce the triple cooked chips were processed thin croquettes. And the Dirty mash did t seem to have the bacon lardons. Just some gravy and a sprig of cooked onions. All in all a poor showing for what looks like a lovely place to dine. To top it off the first bill presented was for the full meal no Groupon voucher taken into account. And the waitresses rolled her eyes when I explained their error. Chester has a lot of dining experiences and we go to a few when we can. I don’t think we will revisit this one.

Arrived, booked, early on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated and efficiently provided with menus. Drinks came and we ordered our main meals, scampi and jerk chicken. This is where it went wrong. No more than 10 minutes later the food arrived! We both knew this was not freshly cooked food. The scampi was presented ok (but then how could you not?) but 'a large'..? Questionable. The chicken however had been piled on the plate with the chips, swimming in its sauce, and a 'rubberised' 1/2 corn on the cob. One mouthful was enough. Microwaved chicken of questionable date is not very pleasant no matter the strength of the coating. The lovely young lady serving recognised something was amiss and offered an alternative. When I said no, the other equally pleasant server lady suggested two free desserts. These were also refused. Yes, the chicken was comped, but... ... and the lady taking payment was lacking customer service skills. Shame. Could be nice, but it isn't.

This place is amazing the sweet milky coffee with a bacon bap is one of the things I go to Scarborough for. My father n law and I love it here as for some other comments saying it’s expensive I don’t agree, I thinks it’s great value for money. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I also love theme if it the theme hasn’t changed since I’ve been going for 20 + years and the quality hasn’t changed. I just love it.
