My wife and I have been here a few times, and it’s never disappointed. Our first Sunday roast here and it was all at its normal high standard! We had the lamb, while my wife had cheesecake to my crumble. The lamb was cooked beautifully and was tender; as I couldn’t have the Yorkshire puddings I got extra potatoes, they were lovely and crunchy. The crumble was really tasty and the ice cream a great counter to hot fruit. Our only slight disappointment was no cider on tap, but my wife managed to get a fruit flavoured bottled cider.

Well after three days of eating out in and around Petworth we were getting to the point of finding a McDonald's it was that bad. Then in a local pub The Black Horse in Byworth, we asked the barman where can we go to get some decent food, of which he said he goes to The Mulberry in Chiddlingfold some 14 miles away. Well what had we to loose....were we disappointed??? No. Great looking establishment, greeted by the owner and shown to our table. End to end service impeccable, well organised and customer service one of the best restaurants I have been in. Food....outstanding. All meals well presented and tasted how good food should taste, all courses were exceptional. The sirloin steak was on par with a stake I had in the Argentina Steak house in London and a fifth of the cost. If the Mulberry were closer to home and not 150 miles away I am sure I would be a regular visitor. WELL DONE TEAM MULBERRY

We go here a lot, but never review. So I want to leave an amazing review for an amazing pub and staff. The food is always excellent, the staff are just a credit to the place and themselves, and the owners could not be more friendly and accommodating. If you haven't been you are missing out on a gem in every way. Just a beautiful place and so well priced for the outstanding quality they always manage to achieve. Never had a bad meal, and we've had loads here.....

The Mulberry is by far the best pub in the area and somewhere we always return to. You won’t find the same level of customer service and attention anywhere else. Nothing is too much trouble. The menu is varied with Lebanese dishes as well as British favourites. The Sunday roasts are always delicious, the garden is lovely and the team warmly welcome dogs. I celebrated my birthday with friends on Friday gone and the Mulberry team helped to make it a very special evening.

This place restored my confidence and faith in independent pub food and pubs in general. After too many times being ripped off for poor quality, expensive food, we started only going to chain pubs, preferring to know what we would get. Back to the Mulberry. The food is delicious, plentiful and affordable. Plus the owner sang happy birthday for us. Can't recommend it enough. If you know of other places as good as this, please PM me.

The Mulberry was recommended, we booked Sunday lunch, 2pm and we’re looking forward to a good meal. Sadly disappointed- within minutes of placing our order for Sunday Roast, the food arrived, cold plates, lukewarm lamb & gravy, huge Yorkshire pudding, tasteless parsnips, roast potatoes that were soggy and when I cut into them they were orange inside!, small portion of vegetables, supposedly for 2, and cauliflower cheese that was far too overcooked and solid, what sauce there was had congealed. Apparently the potatoes I was given were from the bottom of the roasting tin which was why they were orange! I suspect they were precooked, then heated and kept too long. From the minute we sat down to leaving was 35 minutes! No atmosphere even though the place was packed. The staff were very good and the waiter offered to get me more potatoes. £60 for 35 minutes & poor food! We won’t return but I doubt this will be of concern as it appears most people seem enjoy the food.

Used to come here several times a year, but work/kids/family/life pressures had mean we hadn’t been for almost 2 years. So my wife suggested we came back for her birthday meal. When we arrived, for what we assumed was before the evening “rush”, the car park was already full. Demonstrating its enduring popularity. Unsurprisingly, considering the car park, there was a great atmosphere inside. The menu had evolved since we were last there, now having a strong Lebanese slant throughout, alongside traditional British pub fare. The service was very prompt, despite how busy they were. For starters, I had the calamari, and my wife butterflied king prawns. Both dishes tasted amazing, and the portions weren’t stingy either, leaving us very satisfied already. For the mains my wife had sea bass, with a lobster bisque, for which she raved about. I had their Shish Taouk, which took me to food heaven. When I was growing up, my parents lived in the Middle East, and then I ended out there myself about 20 years ago. Shish Taouk was one of my favourite meals when I was out there, but until tonight, I’d been disappointed with the versions I had sampled since in the UK. My wife ended her meal with some local ice cream, and I had cheese and biscuits. My only niggle would be that the cheese to biscuit ratio meant I was having rather large slabs of cheese on my biscuits. But it was probably better for my waistline not to have more biscuits. We left there very happy, with very satisfied stomachs! We enjoyed it so much that we had a very serious debate about cancelling the booking we have elsewhere for our wedding anniversary, and rebooking at the Mulberry Inn.

Great evening out. Fantastic menu with lots of choice. Food was so tasty with lovely flavours and well presented and all our dishes from starters to puddings did not disappoint. Staff here were fabulous. My brother dropped his knife and almost instantly our waitress brought over a clean one. She was so good, she said she knew what he dropped by the sound it made on the floor and that each piece of cutlery sounds different when it drops…how good is that?!! Brilliant, wish she could train staff in other establishments! Staff were attentive but at the right moments, recognising when to leave us alone and when to check in on us and nothing was too much trouble. We had such a lovely evening and will definitely be coming back.

I have been going to the Mulberry for many years since John took over. The staff are so well trained compared to other local pubs - they greet you warmly as you enter and are thoroughly attentive. Now that Jon's delightful wife has joined front-of-house, John feels able to sit and play black gammon with a friend - lazy fellow! But he is hardly needed with the others so good. But on my last visit I had their new crisy pork belly bites and I don't think I have ever tasted anything so scrummy. Keep up the good work John. And they host regular supercar events. We travelled here to meet friends for Sunday lunch. The food was lovely but we were then presented with our bill and told that they needed the table for a large booking that were arriving shortly. At no time was this mentioned, either on arrival or in the confirmation email. We were extremely "put out" as we had all travelled an hour to meet up and were rushed out of the restaurant. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Have just had a really lovely lunch there, everybody was catered for beautifully and the service was attentive but not overwhelming, which was perfect. Certainly a good idea to book as it was full and people were being turned away. Only slight niggle is that because of the wooden floors it is quite noisy, and unfortunately a table nearby had a very noisy and badly behaved young child, but that wasn't the pub's fault! Overall, would thoroughly recommend. We will definitely be going again.

We (partner and I) purposefully drove 1 hour out of our way to visit this pub and were very much looking forward to lunch. On arrival we noticed that the bar and restaurant were half full. We asked a grumpy girl at the bar were we could sit to be told the whole place was booked up. There were tables, not even laid, bare of people. She then walked off. There was no attempt to retain our service as customers. No suggestion of a time to wait before a table would be free. Gutted as I have always wanted to visit but this was a customer relations disaster. Incidentally, we found the Stag at Eshing nearby as a result and had a wonderful time - so all was not lost!

We (myself, my husband and my adult son) stumbled across this restaurant by accident but hopefully we will be able to find it again on our travels. The Mulberry Burger was amazing, the burgers were exceptionally good quality and the chips were excellent. The lamb shank was so tender the meat fell right off the bone and the seasonal veg, small boiled potatoes and a mix of asparagus, beans and peas was delicious. We finished our meal with baked Alaska which was totally amazing. The service and presentation of the food was great and the setting was clean, well decorated and relaxing. Booked in here for a birthday lunch (5 people) and the restaurant was far from full. The food was excellent and every dish was presented beautifully. The Baked Alaska was a special treat if a little sweet with the volume of berry sauce on it. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant with a wonderful setting just outside the village of Chiddingfold. The big complaint though was the speed of service, especially as this was lunchtime. Admittedly we arrived a little earlier than planned but overall the meal took 2.5 hours, then a service charge is automatically added to your bill !

This time our party had a member with restricting food allergies but the staff went out of their way to check what was in the food to the extent of finding out the type of oil used to fry the chips. Very disappointed. Started off well when we first arrived. But we were the only people sitting down to a meal at that point. We were early from visit to panto in Guildford. Therefore first to order but big party came in. They were waited upon and their food came and more drinks as we waited and waited between are starters and then our mains. Eventually our food came the burger was great, sons steak was medium but burnt on the outside (not ideal for a 5 year old). Steak knife did come after waiter saw I was struggling to cut it up. I ordered the Pork which was inedible hard burnt and dry, the potato was raw in the middle. Cabbage was delicious. Unfortunately due to the wait we could not stay for desert as our young son was tired and upset as he had had to wait so long for his food. The Staff were disinterested when I explained my disappointment with my meal. This had been planned for months and it was the end to what had been a special day I wish we had gone elsewhere. I came here for the first time yesterday to have lunch with a friend. The welcome was warm and we were given a choice of tables. There was a quite extensive menu: we had mussels and duck pate for starters, both of which were beautifully presented, and a glass of champagne and a large glass of the house red, which was very drinkable. For mains we had the fish of the day, hake , and one of the other day's specials, venison sausages with mash and onion gravy; both were excellent. Being greedy, we shared a baked Alaska for pudding. With one gin& tonic to start with and one espresso to finish - one of us had to drive - the bill was very reasonable. The staff were excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service. Overall a really good place to eat.

The only one negative for me was the vegetarian choice, this is because I am fussy but I thought the veggie choices on the main menu lacked imagination. I don't like risotto or goats cheese and these seem to be quite common place. A beautiful ride through the countryside from Goodwood in the sunshine but unfortunately the lunch was a little disappointing... ambiance was great, staff superb and it has to be said, although we opted for the set menu, the starters & pud`s were excellent. The main courses were the let down; I had the roast beef which was okay, my partner opted for the lamb which was very fatty but the serving was dominated by four huge roast potato`s and a huge serving of green beans (which were barely cooked), two slivers of carrot, a sliver of parsnip and a floret of broccoli with a large Yorkshire pud. It did give the impression of "loading up on the cheap stuff".

Choose this restaurant for a small family birthday as it is local and had good reviews. The food was very generally very good (especially the risottos and the canon of lamb) but a few elements were disappointing (inedible calamari that was seriously undercooked). We felt a little squished in a corner with a table that wasn't really big enough for 4 people eating a full meal. Service seemed a little grudging - often had to wave to flag their attention even though we were right by the bar. The wine that we ordered was forgotten entirely and we had to reorder half-way through the starters. Overall more 'acceptable' than 'excellent'. Don't think we'll rush to go back.

The food was well cooked and the portions ample. I would have liked my green beans to have had about 45 more seconds in the pan... a personal taste for resistance rather than crunch. All that for £16.95! The staff are young, polite, "just right" in terms of friendliness vs professionalness...which is not a real word, I know, but a difficult balance to achieve.

I’m not sure why I have never previously reviewed the Mulberry as we've had lunch there many times. It is always excellent and last Saturday was no exception. To make the experience even better, we can take our dog and she is given a wonderful welcome, with a bowl of water and a saucer of doggie treats on arrival. Friendly but professional staff, a relaxed atmosphere and, best of all, superb food makes the Mulberry a firm favourite, even though we live about 30 miles away. The menu changes with the seasons but some things are always there, including the divine Baked Alaska!

We stopped here for lunch while out for the day. We made our way to the bar where we ordered drinks, the attitude of the person behind the bar was at best faux friendly, all she wanted to do was see what we wanted to drink and whether we wished to eat which we did. There was no one else in the bar and an attempt to engage her in further conversation fell flat with a big thump. We were not allowed to order food at the bar but had to take a seat and wait for someone to come to us.

Each of the four of us had different main courses, all were excellent. Pub type food, but high end quality. Yummy deserts. Only disappointment was that we wanted to sit outside but another customer's dog was allowed to run loose and excited. Two of our party are scared of dogs, so we had to sit inside on the best day of the year so far. Disappointing. Not what we expected at a restaurant of this standard.

Visited in Sunday, 4th May. Welcomed by bar staff and drinks served quickly. Asked to see bar snack menu but was informed no snacks, only meals. OK, we'll just pick one course. Prices on the high side but we'll go along with it. Asked at bar to place a food order and was told the manager would come and take it at our table. We waited and waited and waited, no manager. Appealing looks at the girl behind the bar who told us the manager would come lead to nothing. If they don't want our business, OK, we'll go. Got up and left but not before handing all menus back to bar staff and telling them that the service was appalling. Will not be back. Would stress that it was not busy and there was no excuse for the lack of attention.

Went here for lunch.....the menu was excellent as was the food...great atmosphere very helpful and friendly staff....as a veggie you very rarely get options that are not the usual pasta or rissoto it was so good to have something cooked with a little bit of thought.....I chose the feta carrot and chickpea fritters they were so tasty....although on the starter menu I had them as a main course really nice....there is a nice outside area at the side of the building in the small garden and plenty of parking...the location is beautiful would highly recommend a visit if you are driving in beautiful Surrey the villages around the area are gorgeous.....

We recently visited the Mulberry for the third time. Every experience has been consistently good. Staff are great, and very much like a family when you talk to them. We usually arrive mid-afternoon for a light lunch and then have dinner, overnight in the comfortable accommodation and breakfast before we leave. Now, that's a lot of food! Every meal is nicely presented and has never disappointed, the atmosphere is lovely and the place has a great soundtrack. . . Shouldn't really be sharing this, it's our guilty pleasure!

My husband and I booked a table for supper over Easter and were distinctly underwhelmed. The environment is very nice but service was very, very slow. the staff were all very nice and friendly but at one point I left the table and found all four waiting staff sitting at the bar chatting - we'd been waiting nearly an hour for our food. Our food was mediocre, my husband's starter was dry and overcooked. Mine was bland. Cold starters and later cheese were served on hot pieces of slate - not good - I assume they'd been put in the dishwasher and not allowed to cool. My burger was ok but nothing more than ok. The best thing I ate was the raspberry sorbet.

We have been here a few times and always experienced a happy lively atmosphere and good food and this time was no exception. It was a very busy lunchtime being Easter Monday but the staff were still as friendly, calm and professional as always. The food was very good and extremely tasty. Perhaps just one criticism, the soup could have been a little thicker but the Baked Alaska was excellent.

I've been here several times before but had not visited for about a year. My April experience was the same top quality as the other times. The food is good (great lamb roast), they do a good pint of Peroni and I experienced good service. It's not cheap but I don't think it's overpriced and it always has a nice ambience. For me it's definitely worth a drive out there, especially on a nice day.

Distinctly average food that was very much overpriced. the decor is heinous and the staff were so rude! Waited ages to be served, and longer to to get the bill which we ended up having to go to the bar to ask for. We were then given the bill with service charge included and when we contested it, the attitude from the waitress who was poor up until that point hit new lows because we refused to pay for her incompetence. It would be understandable if the place was packed but we were only one of two tables being served. It was a ghost town in there and I for one am not surprised. I will never eat there again. Chris Evans owned but definitely not possessing his charm. Big thumbs down

If you want excellent food in lovely surroundings then look no further than The Mulberry Inn just outside Chiddingfold. We have had many meals here, but our latest was Sunday lunch on the 29th. The meals were outstanding, as usual, and it's so good to see a Sunday roast with a vegetarian option (I had mushroom terrine) but with all the roast dinner trimmings, including Yorkshire pudding. The baked alaska was out of this world and is a 'Mulberry favourite', but the other desserts looked just as scrummy !! It's a shame it takes us about an hour to get there, but that makes it more of a special treat when we do.

We met for a post Christmas family get together, and found the Mulberry Inn suited us perfectly. The service was excellent and the ambience very good with a mixture of diners and people using the bar. The decor and seating is clean and comfortable and beautifully enhanced with a Christmas decorations. The food was excellent, we chose quite a few different dishes and most of the plates went back clean! We will definitely consider returning when we are in the area again.

The Mulberry Inn is the half way point from my parents and our house and whenever we've passed by the car park is always full. It has always looked inviting and so we decided to book a table to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The service is friendly/efficient and we all enjoyed our meals. Certainly worth a visit and we will again. Would rate good rather than average!

We had booked a table for 8 and were luckily handed the snug, which was so nice for a large group. Felt really private and the decor including the fairy lights was particularly pleasant. The food was so good, and really felt like you were in a country pub with the choices of game on offer (pheasant/venison). We also had an array of starters including whitebait, Camembert, halloumi, olives which were big portions. The staff were absolutely lovely and it's dog friendly so really accommodating. One of my favourite pub restaurants now.

As this is my favourite pub in Farnham we just called in again as we do quite often and decided to have lunch as well as drinks on this occasion. The service is always very prompt, efficient and friendly. When we called in on Thursday 24 October we were surprised that the place was nearly empty. The pub has a great character within and is warm and cosy which we both really like. We had our favourite table in the restaurant area near the window which has the superb galleon models on display. I chose the superb freshly made Chicken Pie with Chips, Veg and its own pot of gravy at £17. My wife had what she said was one of her best tasting soup Roasted Tomato, Red Bonnet and feta cheese with bread at just £7. Drinks are all realistically priced and great value. We will always call in here when in town and really cant fault the food and its quality. Thank you for another great visit.
