Such a warm welcome, we were taken aback....pleasantly! To be offered a choice of a table in the bar or in (a part) of the restaurant WITH A DOG was delightful. Great service and the food ('specially the specials) was excellent. AND all fpr a reasonable price. Good combination of benefits: well done!

This is a delightful pub in a pleasant setting. I went for dinner with a friend and had such a great time. My Pumpkin Soup starter was warming and delicious, and the main course of broccoli and “haloumi” was an exceptional plant based dish. Full of flavour and colour and substance! I couldn’t resist the chocolate mousse for pudding, which was a perfect size and so tasty. We had to round it all off with a few espresso martinis which did not disappoint. The team who looked after us were welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere cosy and comfortable. I look forward to returning!

Our second visit here and the welcoming feeling you get right from opening the door is very apparent. The bar staff are great and very knowledgeable. Then the food, oh my, you're in for a treat! Thank you, Chef, it was incredible. For what you get in service and quality, the pricing is beyond far. Just be warned, if you're over 6 feet, be prepared to duck a lot. I at 6ft 3 still love the place. The beer garden is large and well laid out for the good days. There is a large amount of parking too. Love this place.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Straight in at Number One in my chart of, 'Best Sunday Roasts Ever'. Exceptionally good roast dinner. A side of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets is included in the price, so it offers really good value for money. The roast beef was medium rare and beautifully tender. The roast potatoes fluffy inside with a wonderfully crispy coating. The vegetables were all perfectly cooked as well. They really care about their food here. I understand now why we had to book. Highly, highly recommended. I'm still thinking about it days later! Superb.

This is the 2nd time I've eaten at this hospitable eatery and what a great find this pub is! The food is fresh and plentiful and when you love fish, that's a big plus point. It's well worth paying for quality. The service is excellent too where staff smile, give informative information regarding the menu and engage in conversation with you. The decor is traditional English pub with a contemporary feel. When eating out has become more expensive, I'm more than happy to spend my money at The Star. We'll done everybody 😀

We were on our way back from the Goodwood Speed Festival. We hadn't eaten (as the temptation of fish and chips in a polystyrene box, or kebabs etc at Goodwood, actually didn't tempt me), so being quite hungry we happened upon the Star, on the drive back to London. What a winner! A truly lovely find. Firstly, the warm customer service was impeccable. The barman was so knowledgeable and keen to advise on the draft beers. We had real, really lovely Egyptian cotton serviettes, so I knew the food would be good! We ordered at the bar, and the freshly cooked roasts, with all the trimmings, were brought to our table about 15 minutes after ordering, but meanwhile we had drinks and sourdough bread snacks with salted butter. Delicious! The mains had unlimited vegetables, yorkie and cauliflower cheese, but honestly the portions were fabulous sized anyway, and we just didn't have room for more. I even ate the roasted carrots, which I don't normally, but everything was just so fresh and enticing. It was a lucky find. You should book first I think, we were lucky there was a table free. Don't drive past, stop in, you won't be disappointed. Reasonably priced too.

The best thing about the place is that it is local. The staff seemed trained to be rude but be as pretensions as possible while doing it so 5hatbyounahe them more. Everything is over priced and their delusional nature is offensive. This pub could spend half the amount of effort being posh and still get the same trade. It's not that the palace is bad but they put so much effort into being fancy that they become terrible. The owner is self deluded and is convinced that the problem is to customers and not their nonsense.

WOW! From pulling into this lovely village pub and seeing the gorgeous flowers and generous garden I knew I was in for a treat if they take that much care of the aesthetic. Walked in and greeted at the bar in a friendly manner, then shown to a nice table for two. Staff very approachable, have great knowledge and prompt service all round on what was probably one of the busiest days ever (Father’s Day) the volume of people did not cast a shadow on their ability to give the best experience I’ve had in a while. We had the bread and scallops to start, they were cooked perfectly and the romesco sauce was to die for. Followed by a roast chicken for my son and roast lamb special for me, the lamb was soo perfect that my son ended up stealing my food so we both shared. Lamb was incredible. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle with garlic and herb flavours, the veg cooked perfectly and the cauli cheese was so good I could’ve had just a plate of that, wasn’t written on the menu so an extra given for free where many other places charge you in excess of £6 is value for money. Finished with a coffee and ice cream. Food incredible. Service attentive but no intrusive. All staff smiling when you looked at them knew it’s a good place to work and they enjoy being there. Thanks for having me The Star, I’ll be back!

First time visiting the Star in Witley for a Sunday lunch, and I was thoroughly impressed. Stunning pub food, very tasty and good quality ingredients, very generous portions too. It's not often you have a Sunday roast at a pub and you leave roast potatoes behind because you are so stuffed! It's great to have good portions when you are paying around £18-20 a course. The atmosphere was great and the old pub features give the Star a superb vibe inside. The staff were exceptionally polite and friendly. Good range of drinks available, and good prices for those too. May need a bigger car park if more people start to discover how good it is - I can't wait to go back! Recommendation: the pea and ham soup with croque madame. One beef (done extra well for the well done member of the party) and a nut roast for the veggie. The veg were all done just right. Roast potatoes, parsnips, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower cheese. We (just) managed a dessert. Both the chocolate and sticky toffee were excellent. Service prompt and friendly Ambiance; just busy enough to give a buzz without feeling crowded. ALL GOOD. Group of us ordered roasts, bit exaggerated to say served with “pigs in blankets” when only one is provided. The horseradish sauce was very odd tasting- really bland - had to try friends bread sauce to check they hadn’t given us that. The unlimited veg is a nice touch so overall a decent roast. However £5.25 for a pint of lime and soda is extreme. I know not a comparative establishment but it’s 75p a pint in Weatherspoons! Actually more expensive than Coke, Orange and Lemonade etc

The latest incarnation of the Star is significantly improved from the slightly sad empty place it was. The menu is good, the food was tasty. The staff were pleasant and polite, but as it was packed it was a little slow. Prices were not cheap, but in these crazy times it is hard to know what to expect. I will go back… I did, and I’m afraid the second visit was a bit of a let down. We ordered a burger again and it wasn’t as good. We tried the venison ragu, and frankly it tasted like minced beef, and nothing special. Staff still nice, but when asked if we were happy, we reported as above, and were thanked for the feedback, but nothing was actually offered to make it right. Went back a third time. They have a 2 or 3 course fixed price menu now. We went for the 2 course at £24, but even with just a lime& soda, as they add a 12.5% service charge we ended up paying over £30. The food was quite good, and the crumble & custard better than that. However, lunchtime, and about half full, service was slow. I was left feeling that I’d paid over the odds for the meal.

We were brilliantly looked after by Craig (who whipped up a surprise birthday dessert as we had forgotten our cake!!) and a super dark haired girl (beautiful and funky) who was simply amazing. The Star is recently(ish) refurbished and very smart. Taller customers need to watch the low beams. Really wanted to love The Star and there are many things to commend it. The independent group of pubs it belongs to pride themselves on good hospitality and this is clearly obvious. Staff were friendly, accomodating, plentiful and attentive. Definitely felt welcomed and special. Drinks choice is good. Food menu is OK. The choice is pretty good with the fashion of finding new and overly complicated ways to serve pub classics. Prices are mid-to-high which is normal in the area. In fact you cant help thinking that prices are set by comparison to others rather than to achieve best value. BUT... And this is the sole reason for giving The Star a 3* rating and not 5*. 12.5% service charge is unreasonable and unnecessary. Whether or not staff actually see that money is not for me to speculate. But staff should be properly remunerated by a business owner and not expect customers to do it for them. Rant over!

We booked last minute for a catch up lunch with friends. Staff were extremely accommodating for my friend with mobility issues. A very welcoming young bartender, Toby, greeted us. The meal was excellent, thank you so much to Honor for looking after us so well....

We visited the pub on a Monday night with a group of friends after a local run. The staff could not have been more welcoming despite us all arriving nearly all at once. They kept the kitchen going so that late arrivals could order food,...

Went for a date night at The Star at Witley and used as Travelzoo offer. We drove 66 miles to get there but it was well worth it! The scallops were wonderful with the whole scallop served. The Monkfish special was cooked to perfection, and the Venison Pasta was delicious. Don't forget to order the Arancini as they are to die for! Special thanks to Harry and Leanne (our servers) who were brilliant and attentive while being courteous and professional but also approachable. We really enjoyed the meal and the Chenin Blanc was also very good. Rounded off with a nightcap at the bar which was friendly and welcoming. A great date night, and we look forward to coming back for regular Sunday Lunches as this is a lovely venue with a great pub garden as well.

We had booked a table for 8 and were luckily handed the snug, which was so nice for a large group. Felt really private and the decor including the fairy lights was particularly pleasant. The food was so good, and really felt like you were in a country pub with the choices of game on offer (pheasant/venison). We also had an array of starters including whitebait, Camembert, halloumi, olives which were big portions. The staff were absolutely lovely and it's dog friendly so really accommodating. One of my favourite pub restaurants now.

As this is my favourite pub in Farnham we just called in again as we do quite often and decided to have lunch as well as drinks on this occasion. The service is always very prompt, efficient and friendly. When we called in on Thursday 24 October we were surprised that the place was nearly empty. The pub has a great character within and is warm and cosy which we both really like. We had our favourite table in the restaurant area near the window which has the superb galleon models on display. I chose the superb freshly made Chicken Pie with Chips, Veg and its own pot of gravy at £17. My wife had what she said was one of her best tasting soup Roasted Tomato, Red Bonnet and feta cheese with bread at just £7. Drinks are all realistically priced and great value. We will always call in here when in town and really cant fault the food and its quality. Thank you for another great visit.

Myself and my Wife both had a great meal at the Mulberry Inn last night. Great staff and a beautiful Pub/Restaurant with a roaring fire. Very inventive menu with a Middle eastern theme (mostly Lebanese) although there are also plenty of traditional dishes to choose from for the less adventurous. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again if in the area.
