The Bluebell in Waverley

Had an amazing time at the Bluebell Pub! The service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, really good quality and served at just the right pace. I couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere to spend my time in. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great service, tasty food, and a warm, relaxed vibe. Will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely wonderful. By far the best pub we know. Warm friendly staff led by the delightful Lucy, yummy consistently good food and great atmosphere. We travel to go there because we always have a great experience. Nothing not to like

I was slightly wary on the Bluebell as had “heard”some poor reviews. Being a lets see for ourselves type I booked. Easy to book and confirmation came through quickly. The Bluebell was pleasantly larger than expected. Very nice and welcoming staff. A good menu. I enjoyed my starter of Salt and Pepper Squid. With good steaks and an excellent burger enjoyed by the family. I thought the triple cooked chips were overcooked but to be fair that could be just the way they are. The dessert of Sticky Toffee Pudding was excellent. The service was very good and the staff super friendly. I certainly will be returning.

Pretty location, true British pub, great service and funny little goats in the garden! We had a delicious Tuesday night meal and I was so pleased that the pub was busy all evening. Full of atmosphere and happy people! Dog friendly which is always a bonus! Best burger I’ve had in forever!

We went to order lunch at 1pm and were told that the wait would be ONE HOUR as there was a large group who had just ordered (10-12 people!). Very disappointing as we had planned a nice day out and the pub was only a quarter full!! We’d just bought our drinks too so finished them and went and had a great lunch at another pub in Farnham. This is the second time we’ve encountered bad management and poor service at this pub.

We recently booked a table here for our daughter’s 30th birthday. The Bluebell is such a warm, cosy and great atmosphere place to go with wonderful caring and friendly staff who cannot do enough to make you comfortable and happy. Lucy allowed me to decorate the table and was so kind and helpful with assisting me. She went above and beyond to make sure my daughter’s evening was special and I was so grateful for that. Would highly recommend this wonderful pub and restaurant 🤩

On a very busy Saturday the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We all enjoyed our meals (we were a group of ten). Thank you. Very impressed.

We had a wonderful afternoon at the Bluebell Pub after a lovely walk at Frensham Little Ponds. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a pub lunch. The menu had a great selection of dishes and the pub had a cosy feel, they even had a fire going as we walked in the door! We were able to book for a large group which was great and the Bluebell is both child and dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Sunday lunch. The lamb, beef and chicken were all beautifully cooked. Great roast vegetables and gravy. Yorkshire pudding on all roasts 👍 The sticky toffee pudding was enormous and delicious. The beer was perfect

It's one of the best pubs and restaurants i have been to! Delicious food, brilliant friendly staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. It's a lovely little pub with an open fire crackling away. Great traditional feeling. There are lots of outside seating under cover even in the winter it's well lit. Dog friendly too, we said hello to so many four-legged friends this evening.

I would definitely recommend The Blue bell. We have been four times now for a Sunday roast. One of the best 👌

Lovely meal with the family. We booked the rear family room and so were able to be as noisy as we liked! Great service, great choice of food. Car parking was an issue, but we managed to find a bit of free road to abandon the car.

Came here for a roast with this afternoon with my family. Food was great, staff were extremely friendly and I loved the relaxed cosy feel of the pub. Will definitely return.

I love my roast on a Sunday and have really struggled in the area to find a really nice one. I come over to see my family and when at home go for a carvery every week. The chef did oblige by doing roast potatoes without garlic so thumbs up for that but it was swimming in liquid which didn't resemble gravy and spoilt the rest of the dinner. The beef was very thin & I found I was just trying to pick out the lean parts which was spoilt by the taste of the gravy. Cauliflower cheese was beautiful. Stewed apple and custard was lovely but was so disappointed with my roast. I would have ordered a starter but couldn't see anything that I liked so think the choice could be better. Staff are lovely and really good service. It is a lovely location with nice large gardens and outside eating area so ideal in the summer especially if you have children.

Another beautiful family lunch served by lovely, friendly and professional staff. Thai Green curry is my personal favourite, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

Service was on point, food delicious and atmosphere gave the country cozy vibe we were after. They are dog friendly and made a plan for us even though they appeared fully booked when we came in. We can highly recommend the beef stroganoff, eggs and gammon and the salmon dishes. Dessert was generous, with a wonderful apple crumbles and sticky toffee had at table.

I went to The Bluebell for my auntie's birthday celebrations in mid November. Before we arrived, I read their menu and decided I would have the chicken after changing my mind from choosing roast beef. Overall, I was happy with my dish; the potatoes I have to say were interesting, I don't think I've tasted a potato like that before (a good and bad thing). The service was absolutely wonderful and they wrote 'Happy Birthday' on my aunt's plate when dessert arrived; I couldn't have been more satisfied by their service!

We had an amazing works Christmas lunch here. The food was delicious, service good and atmosphere lovely.

The Bluebell is such a great pub. Great location, indoor and outdoor seating, great food and the staff are always really friendly. They are great with allergies and know everything that's in their dishes. The serving staff are always happy to check with the kitchen and make small tweaks to dishes to accommodate.

We came here midweek for lunch. We enjoyed our meal and the ale was great. We will come again.

We had booked a table for 8 and were luckily handed the snug, which was so nice for a large group. Felt really private and the decor including the fairy lights was particularly pleasant. The food was so good, and really felt like you were in a country pub with the choices of game on offer (pheasant/venison). We also had an array of starters including whitebait, Camembert, halloumi, olives which were big portions. The staff were absolutely lovely and it's dog friendly so really accommodating. One of my favourite pub restaurants now.

Visited for the first time after recommendations Wonderful atmosphere with a wood burning fire going. Very welcoming staff. Attentive service Food was incredible. Been here a few times and never disappointed. Just had the most amazing lamb curry. The chef certainly knows how to do a curry as the Thai green curry is equally a nice. Lovely staff too. Love The Bluebell.

What a lovely pub. Food was in generous portions and really tasty. Staff really really helpful. And not forgetting watching the three resident goat. Definitely worth a visit.

A lovely pub with great atmosphere, good local beer, friendly & efficient service and a great menu, which has standard items and daily changes depending on what's available. We had Philly steak ciabatta and stuffed breat of pheasant on roast root vegetables - delicious!

Had a B-E-A-utiful roast here with the family last weekend, I'd usually have taken a photo or two but the sights and smells once the food was put infront of me overtook all other senses. Really, really worthwhile visit.

A spur of the moment lunch at The Bluebell in Dockenfield. Table pre-booked on the morning of our visit and it wasn’t too busy when we arrived so had a choice of sitting indoors or outdoors and any vacant table that took our fancy. We had whitebait starters - naked without batter or breadcrumbs and very tasty in addition to being served in a dish rather than a small metal basket or baked bean tin as often happens in some pub restaurants. We chose to go out of our comfort zone, of burger and fries or fish and chips, for a lunch and chose the herb crusted shoulder of lamb served with red cabbage, parsnip purée, water cress and roasted new potatoes with a rich meat gravy too. It was very nice. Lovely food in a lovely setting and two very lovely bar ladies who also waited on our table. Would I go again? Yes, very much so! Thank you for a lovely lunch!

Gorgeous atmosphere on a sunny day in the pub garden! Loved the unique seating. We had the Sunday Roast, I loved the thick gravy, nice meat and yorkshire pudding. However, it didn't come with enough vegetables and the potatoes were not crispy. Will definitely be back!

Stunning garden, great space for kids to play whilst adults catch up!

Fantastic hidden gem just up the road from Alice Holt. Found it on a bike ride a couple of months ago and vowed to check out the garden when the weather improved. Food fantastic and well priced, nice selection of local Alton ales and standard lagers. Great beer garden, dog friendly and great staff.

Had a very enjoyable afternoon celebrating our parent’s 60th Wedding Anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Lucy was a pleasure to deal with and answered my emails very promptly. Would highly recommend visiting. We’ll certainly be back. Thank you.

Really good pub, with a fab menu. The food was so nice, big high fives to the kitchen team. We had halloumi Burgers, Lamb skewers with baba ganoush etc, it was excellent. Friendly team too... thankyou

Food was miserable, no effort and dry. Peas were grey and shrivelled, sons burger was like a lump of charcoal

Great hidden gem of a pub with ample outside space and undercover outdoor seating area. Tried the flatbread with lamb and tzatziki for lunch, but the lamb was a bit chewy unfortunately. My husband enjoyed the Sunday roast dinner and had chicken. Overall, it could do with more seating in the garden and parasols for shading, but it’s worth a visit just for the out of this world giant glass of Pimms! Summer in a glass ☀️

First visit here, and we will be back. Had to find an eatery for wheelchair access. Was recommended this place. Staff amazing, food fab. Infact, we both had a starter, which was huge, main also large. Which meant no dessert. I'll remember for next time, no starter and will have room for dessert.

After a day at the beach, we chanced this pub on the way home. It was lovely, we were 5 minutes late for the food, but were offered if we were quick, we had a look at the menu but weren’t hungry. Definitely going back for the roast as looked really good! 👍

Excellent food, excellent service, what more could you want??

This place needs to invest £20 in an automatic door closer. They are not spending enough on the heating (what had gone off when we arrived) to allow the doors to remain open. I had to get up 4 times during my meal to shut the door left open by people coming in and out so as to stop my food going cold and being uncomfortable there. When I spend £100 on a meal for 2, I shouldn't have to be closing the door every 2 minutes. Not in a hurry to return I'm afraid despite the ale being lovely.

Delicious Sunday roast & great service

Popped in for a beer and a snack on a Sunday afternoon. A friendly welcome - all tables booked but were lucky to get a table by the cosy open fire. Snack were very tasty too, hope to visit again for a full meal and a walk in the area

What a hidden gem! Was looking for a decent pub around the frensham area and found this. I did go on a weekday so it was a little quiet, but on the flip side I had great service and prompt delivery, the food was great with that extra bit of care and attention towards the food from the chefs. Beer selection was good with a solid range of local beers and ales to suit any taste in that department. Compared to my local (Cornwall) prices were a little inflated however considering the location I think they were still pretty reasonable. Unfortunately I can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon cause it’s so far away from me, but if I’m up this way will certainly pop by!

Lovely atmosphere, really friendly, happy and obliging staff. Roast dinner really enjoyed by my husband and the curry was good but needed a little extra sauce, overall would definitely recommend.

Hard to find without sat nav,, need to cut the overgrown bushes at front to reveal the pub sign, we missed it cos it was so hidden.

Staying locally we needed somewhere to go for our evening meal. We found The Bluebell online and booked straight away. Nice rural location with great staff and great food. Very reasonable price will certainly return. Thank you.

They above and beyond, when I had to keep changing the reservation, really understanding and accommodating. The food was incredible, really hot and good portion size. And the biggest plus is it’s dog friendly! Definitely would come back

A really nice pub with friendly service. The food is good with generous portions. The waitress overheard my husband making a comment about it being my birthday, and minutes later brought out a chocolate brownie with a candle, even though we had declined to order desert. Such a lovely gesture and much appreciated.

The pub is very local to the area and hidden away. However once found, it is an amazing place to catch up with friends and families and unwind. The pub has great indoor and outdoor seating with a very welcoming, warm vibe. Since I am a vegetarian, the food options were very limited however it was good.

Nice pub, out of the way, friendly atmosphere, nice garden, small parking area, nice staff, decent pub style food not fancy but good quality.

Went there for lunch Tuesday 23rd. Very friendly bar staff. Sat outside in the sunny garden. Our drinks and food were brought out to us. Both our meals were very good but the drinks were somewhat expensive. There are goats in a pen by the garden which is obviously good for children to view.

Without a doubt, the best pub in the area. Consistently amazing food, drinks and exceptional customer service.

UPDATE 28/4/23 I've updated the review from 3 to 4 stars. We went here recently as a big group and everything was nice, better than last time. The starters leaved a little to be desired, there really wasn't much food. Other than thag though, it was good. Ohh and the dessert are pretty big, but not complaining here!! We've had many good experiences here, however the last was rather disappointing. We stopped in for a final lunch, before leaving the country in the evening, all settling on sandwiches for ease. Unfortunately they took over an hour to arrive, getting to the point where we had to ask the bar what was going on! The food tatsed good, but it just seemed like a long wait for a couple of steak sandwiches and a cheese sandwich! I've given three stars (reduced from my previous 5) in the hope that this was just a one off! It has a lovely beer garden and some ncie goats now, so we will give it another chance
