A fantastic Sunday lunch called in with no booking and was given a seat within 5 mins , The roast beef was blushing pink just how I like it, great choice of beers and wines, wife had turkey which was delicious. My partner and I enjoyed a delicious meal at the crown yesterday. After driving past a couple of other places we found the crown welcoming upon arrival. Light, clean and airy with attentive staff, there was a menu which showed an insightful balance between being imaginative and commercially aware. The food was prepared quickly and well. The food is not served on crockery, and needs to be collected by the customer, but is none the worse for this, and it means that the establishment can keep costs down to an (almost) pre COVID level. Good food at a good price in a convivial setting. Highly recommended.

My first time here and it was a wonderful Sunday lunch. It was hot and tasty, cooked to perfection, a little more on the plate would have been good as I enjoyed it so much. We visited here a couple of times while we were staying in the village. We had an evening meal on the Saturday night and returned for Sunday lunch the following day. We visited as a couple on a sunny Saturday evening not from this area. We were going to sit inside as it looked nice inside but then decided to sit in the garden out the back which was enjoyable and sunny. We ordered food at the bar, a cheeseburger and beef brisket burger both with fries. You have to collect the food when your buzzer goes off and it comes in takeaway containers but tasted excellent. The skin on fries were very tasty and both burgers were 10/10. Nice desserts on offer too but we were too full! Absolutely worth the money, cheaper than usual but part self service. There was only one vegetarian option which was thai red curry if you don't like or don't fancy a thai red curry well tough luck cause there isn't anything else to choose. After looking forward to a nice meal on the last evening of our holiday I was very disappointed to end up with a small bowl of chips and a few onion rings. Probably the worst fish and chips we have ever had: the batter was grossly under-cooked; goodness know how since the haddock was caught or when the chips were first cooked. The waitress was politely informed when she trilled: "Every OK?" but gave no response. When I asked to pay I was told the bill was to be reduced by 50% - no explanation / excuse and no apology. 4 adults and 3 children came away feeling slightly disappointed. The food was tasty but small portions, 1/2 lobster for £20 was massively overpriced as it was literally 4 small mouthfuls. I felt the kids menu was also overpriced, £8.50 for a 2 year old is quite a lot, but again, was tasty! We mentioned the size of the lobster to the staff who said ‘they’d mention it to the kitchen’ but seemed indifferent. The food really was nice but I’d have to say wasn’t worth the price of our bill. If each dish had been a few pounds cheaper it would have been amazing but it just wasn’t worth the asking price.

Heard good reviews for this pub, but won’t be visiting again. There were four of us, two had the fish and chips, the batter was greasy the “fish” well that was very thin with skin on as for the mushy peas.... if you could call them that. The fish pie was bland, fish pies normally have a mixture of different fish types this had one! Then there was the one AND only vegetarian dish gnocchi! Six very tiny pieces of mush hidden under a sea of mixed all green vegetables, the broccoli was hard and hadn’t been trimmed, the butter was overwhelming as was the balsamic vinegar! The only saving grace was the asparagus, which was nice, my Partener ate it. We didn’t stay for the pudding. £85 for poor quality food... not value for money. oh and some of the staff well we’re less than interested in their customers.

We arrived at our holiday accommodation the night before and forgot to book anywhere for Easter Sunday lunch. I looked on line for some ideas and came upon The Crown at Mickleton. I called them in the morning and spoke to Sally apologising that we were at short notice expecting to fit in somewhere. Sally went out of her way to suggest we arrive after 14:30 and she would do her very best to ensure we were looked after. Well we sat in the garden in the blazing sun which was wonderful and the pub and gardens were lovely and it was evident seeing all the cars pulling into the car park that it was popular, it speaks for itself. What we liked about the menu was being in our mid 60's we can't eat big portions like we used to do and this pub is wonderful because it does a choice of portions which really suited us. I had the haddock and all I can say was it was 'perfect'. My wife had roast pork which she was pleased with and the vegetables - stem broccoli, cabbage, peas and sugar snap peas were excellent and they even brought us some white cabbage in a cheese sauce which was very moreish. Even with desserts and drinks it was total value for money. We loved the atmosphere, the welcome and the customer service we received. So if you are on that road don't pass, go in even if only for a drink because we highly recommend it.

Visited on Good Friday for lunch, 3 children and 5 adults. They were fairly busy inside and they brought out the wrong order for another table, so one fish and chips were taken away but we had asked for 2x Smoked trout tartare as mains. When they arrived they were only starters not mains which I had originally asked for. No offer of anything else or an apology about the 2nd mix up. Then the fish pie was forgotten about and when it did arrive the waitress advised us that she had taken it from another order!! So another mess up, plus we ordered it as a child’s portion and it came as a main it was £15.50 and barely any fish in there at all, again no apology. Then the children’s meals came out and the garlic bread was given to the dog as totally burnt. We didn’t bother to complain again due to the lack of response previously. Below average food, terrible customer service and very overpriced, we would not recommend I’m afraid, especially being a bank holiday with a special menu you would think they would be better prepared. Having small children including a 1 year old outside in the garden we asked for an umbrella twice to cover the baby from the sun and it never arrived. Shame as lovely pub and setting

I'm currently in the crown at Mickleton. It has inspired me to write my first ever review on any site. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing. The cheese board is out of this world and I will be having it as my main in my next visit.

Myself and my husband arrived at lunchtime on a Friday without a reservation. We were greeted warmly by staff who showed us to a table of our choice. From start to finish the food & service was spectacular. Very highly recommended.

Last day of our annual house party for 14 in Romaldkirk - got rid of all our guests on Thursday morning and then walked to Mickelton for lunch at the Crown (just the two of us). Lovely walk. The pub is super with a warm welcome and what we like it is not pretentious. After walking, the spotless toilets were much appreciated for a freshen up. Started with a half of beer, then progressed to an excellent bottle of Chablis. Great lunch. The delicious mussels were from Shetland, the steak was perfectly cooked feather blade. All came with great, crusty, tasty bread. Made a perfect end to the holiday.

Stopped off at the crown after we had tried to get a meal in Middleton but everywhere was shut so we called on the off chance and we were glad we did. It was 3 o clock on a wet Saturday and 6 of us just walked in. Staff were great nothing was too much trouble. All of the meals we had were tasty bar style meals reasonably priced and nice and hot. The bar has attractive decor which looks newly done and there were 2 roaring fires to warm us up.

The Crown at Mickleton is an absolute gem of a find. We stayed at a property nearby and the pub was about a 10 minute walk away.

We are staying at the caravan site attached to the pub. Booked ourselves a meal last night too save cooking. Restaurant cosy, staff very friendly. Tasty unusual food. Sardines on toast as a starter? Very tasty indeed. Aberdeen Angus steak with chips also good - the large size portion almost defeated me. Simple ice cream (home made of course) for dessert. Prices reasonable.

Lovely bakers and coffee shop, Lattes were really good and the gluten free carrot cake was amazing. When you have coeliac you can’t always find somewhere that provides gluten free especially in small villages but I would definitely recommend Peggotty’s! We’ll be back.

It is not really that great. More batter than fish. Very crowed. A popular place, not really sure why…

Lovely food especially the bolams steak burgers Amazing food 👌 easy a five star 🌟✨️✨️✨️✨️ served with a smile by friendly people. The hut the old Eden ticket office you can get something from getting off the bus to going waiting for a bus with seating and there's plenty of parking space
