Loved this place but unfortunately it has closed down , the food was always delicious and very reasonable

Christmas meal with all the trimmings! Plenty of good food, really tasty. Lovely waitress service. Only downside, it was a bit chilly in the restaurant area, so finished our evening in the bar….. much cosier.

I came here with my other half for luch and it was outstanding! I had the roast of the day and my partner has a steak and mushroom bap. I can honestly say my roast was one of the best roasts I've had. The meat looked like a piece of steak and so tender plus the gravy was gorgeous. My partner loved his sandwich too. Well worth a trip. Its been a while since we were here last but won't leave it so long this time.

Came here last Sunday for a Sunday roast with my boyfriend. I had vegetarian sausages with mash, a Yorkshire pudding and more vegetable sides than we could eat - which included some amazing cauliflower cheese. We then had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was really tasty. The friendly and efficient service from the staff was also great - we will definitely be back!

Booked a table at short notice and the staff were very accommodating to squeeze us in. The food was delicious with generous portions and a great selection. The best bit were the proper chips, just like my mum used to make in the chip pan when I was a nipper. The staff were all friendly and made us feel very welcome. It's a refreshing change to have that nice back and forth that's sadly lacking for most chain restaurants. They also had a good choice of drinks with a decent pint of Rivet Catcher on tap. Well worth a visit

Went with family on a Wednesday evening, not a particularly busy time... We were placed next to the kitchen door, which in itself wasn’t a problem, but given that it was the table that the waiting staff passed literally the most in the whole place they were inattentive. We ordered drinks then were seemingly forgotten about - we waited twenty minutes before asking the waitress as she passed to take our food order. When the food came there were a few issues e.g. thick cut chips arrived instead of the fries we had specifically asked for (I have two picky under fives) so had to wait for this to be corrected. My partner also ordered onion rings which didn’t materialise at all. Whilst waiting for the food to arrive I ordered more drinks (three in total) via a different waitress. I had to repeat twice as she noted the order down - these then took around 10-15 minutes to arrive. A small tip if I may - please just bring them straight over when a table orders them and you’re not busy and the order isn’t complex. The waitresses found time during our wait to have a good conversation by the kitchen hatch and time for one of them to check make up and pout in the mirror while having a little dance now and again - I REALLY don’t begrudge people having a good time and a laugh at work, but it helps your customers feel valued if you tend to their requests first. After our meals arrived the ‘dancing’ waitress then asked us how our meals were, literally without stopping on the way past to hear our response! I am not a regular online reviewer but I thought I’d make an exception so I can at least give some feedback. If management read this review, please pass on that while your staff are enthusiastic, they could channel this better into tending the needs of your customers, and dancing while people wait unduly can come across as a bit of a mickey-taking (if I’m being polite). Ask them to think about the ‘optics’ of their behavior, to coin a politicians phrase. The food itself was pretty standard pub fayre, not horrendous, not great. I do not intend on revisiting any time soon.

We dined here two for two evenings whilst staying at the b&b next door, on the reccomendation of the host. Wow! The food is totally delicious. On the first evening, we had burgers which we felt were the best we had ever had. This comes with chips or fries. CHOOSE THE CHIPS! The lady who served us reccomended these and how right she was! They were good, old fashioned brown chips. Delicious! We were equally pleased with our food on day two. The staff were lovely and on the second night, we stayed for the fortnightly quiz which was a laugh. I only wish we lived closer and could visit this place on a regular basis.

Visited Lanchester this lunch time after hearing good reviews about this place. The venue is well presented but the service was very slow. So much so we thought they had forgotten our order (45 minute wait from order to service). The lunch time footfall centres around retirees and my beef cobbler was more school dinner than luncheon club. Expensive beers with a poor selection. Sorry, we will not be back.

Described as ‘butchery, bar, cafe and restaurant’ I was intrigued to go in... inside is very welcoming with areas segregated so you can choose the atmosphere you want: bar area, seating area for food and/ or drinks, restaurant in separate room. I only enjoyed a pint of beer on this visit (which was well kept so landlord must be good) but many people were enjoying food. I’ll be back for something to eat soon!

A visit just prior to Christmas, staff were rushed off their feet so service was slower than expected. Food was all decent and reasonable value. Would I go again - not in a hurry.

Called in a for a few cheeky pints whilst waiting for a takeaway over the road.The place was full of folk with a nice atmosphere and the staff spot on.I had a few pints of real ale which were faultless and eyed some of the food which looked like proper pub grub. Nice place will call again and sample more wares.

We often call while out on our cycle rides, with space to secure the bikes out back, and nice beer garden if the weathers warm enough.We haven’t tried much else other than burgers, chips and of course the beer, but the service has always been excellent, the atmosphere is always buzzing, and the food is always of the highest quality.

We chose Crinnions for our works christmas night and the food was fantastic. Some of our party had the christmas fayre menu and others ordered from the normal menu. I had the scallop starter and the teriyaki salmon for main and both were amazing. Linda did a great job of looking after us and kept coming back for drinks orders. Would definately reccommend.

Quite simply one of the very best Sunday lunches in the Durham area. We’ve tried a lot of places and found Crinnions on TA whilst looking for a meeting place in Lanchester. Went once and will keep going regularly. The food is really superb, it’s not fancy but it’s a proper Sunday roast dinner.

Beef and pork with crackling,stuffing, cauliflower cheese, roasties, and mash (hate it when other places give you roasties as the only potatoes) and loads of veg with perfect gravy. Sublime!

My friend and I visited a couple of nights ago and the food was fantastic, very tasty and really fresh. Also, very reasonably priced. The service was a little slow to begin with taking our food orders but did quicken up. However, we were sat right next to the kitchen, which in itself wasn't a problem, but the way the chef spoke to the waiting staff was disgusting. He was rude, abrupt and actually quite aggressive when they were asking very reasonable questions and telling him various things. It was very uncomfortable to listen to and ruined the atmosphere for us, especially when the ladies were doing a fantastic job.

We visited on Sunday 3/11 after a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. We got a warm welcome as we entered and we were served quickly at the bar, although it was busy(approx 1:30) . We were shown to our table within 10 minutes. We ordered food and it was served very quickly. We got Duo if meat, and plenty of it. The meat just melted in your mouth . There was an array of vegetables, fab pork crackling and stuffing with the pork and the biggest lightest Yorkshire Pudding. There was gravy on the plate but also a gravy boat. We were courtesy checked after approx 5 minutes and asked if we needed anything else & if we wanted more drinks. At the end of the meal we had quite a lot of meat left due to the really large portions, the lovely girl serving us offered to box it up for us, we couldn’t resist as it was too good to throw away. All in all, a fab place with beautiful atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing food. I could go on and on with more positives but I don’t feel the need.

Ended up in lanchester today after our girls fell asleep in the car so we kept driving past consett. They woke up grumpy and very hungry! We called in here by chance to a warm welcome, we were able to sit out of the way of other diners as my daughter and niece were being quite loud about how hungry they were! Service was prompt and friendly, even offered some bread to keep the hanger at bay! Meals came quickly and were tasty and plentiful. Highly recommended, we will certainly be back!

We came for tea as it’s a dog friendly place. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff gave our dog lots of attention as well as pointing out the “dog station” that contained water and treats (she loved this!)

Went with family for Sunday lunch, we had booked, we were offered a number of seat choices and after choosing one, we were quickly advised a table was now free in the restaurants so moved to there.The place was busy always a good sign, and after being served our drinks we placed our food order.The food was served quickly and we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch we have had for many a month.Slices and slices of meat great choice of veg, such good portions nobody could manage a sweet. This restaurant was recommended by the owner of Burnhopeside Hall and we were highly delighted. The atmosphere was noisy to start with but as it thinned out a bit it was okay. We had 2 dogs with us and were given a corner table which was ideal. Plenty of menu and drinks choice and the food is excellent. The staff are super, super friendly and helpful - nothing phases them at all ! We had a lovely meal and would highly recommend Crinnions to anyone who happens to be in the area (it's worth travelling a few miles for !!).

We recently found ourselves in Lanchester on a Saturday morning at about 11:30 in the morning and had a hankering for some breakfast. Walking along the main street we found Crinnions and popped inside on the chance of getting lucky and boy oh boy did we! The waitress was very friendly and helpful and after taking our order (with slight variations to the menu) and in no time the food arrived and was absolutely scrumptious. The whole experience was really really great and we will most certainly be back

2 of us were vegetarians. The vegetables were nice, plenty of them. I had garlic mushrooms, which were just delicious, to start with. 2 had fish and were very pleased with them. Strawberries for pud, were sugary and a bit off putting, so was the cream, which was too sweet for my liking. I prefer them au naturel.

My daughter has always said that this was the place to go for great food and great service this is what we found tonight.Service was excellent food was fantastic.The steak i had was cooked to perfection.The sweet was fantastic, would highly recommend this restaurant.

under adverse conditions today being the hottest day of the year (record temperatures) The staff at Crinnions soldiered on. The kitchen staff still produced good food and the bar/waiting staff provided great service. Please keep up the good work it's always a pleasure visiting Crinnions.

Another lovely meal with the family. Crinions just gets better and better. I had the stuffed chicken breast off the new menu and it was absolutely gorgeous. We then shared a cheesecake - strawberry and lime. I’ve had some gorgeous cheesecakes in Crinions over the years but this one topped the lot - amazing!!

So a recent visit to Crinnions this is my first time here. A shame as I have heard very good things about it. Don't get me wrong staff are friendly and I got a very warm welcome, but why would you advertise a designated smoking area next to a children's play section. As a mother myself I think this is unacceptable, we bang on about the health of children and then you come across establishments that do this. I certainly won't be bringing my children here it certainly isn't child friendly in my eyes.

The Tardis of restaurants – if ever there is such a thing; the place looks inconspicuous from the outside. When you go in – it’s a lot bigger. It’s not huge, but it’s surprisingly substantial. Rustic décor as one expects from a “traditional” selling-point place, but it’s been refurb lately and it’s looking really clean and smart inside. The custom seems to be the locals; middle-age to older folks – wanting traditional English food. So – it was the mixed-grill test again; to which I was given the option of a “mini-grill” comprised of an assortment of 4 oz chops – or the full-blown Grill with 6oz chops. I don’t know if all the cuts (the beef, lamb and pork) are meant to be either 4 or 6 oz, but it looked reasonable. Anyway – I was persuaded by the waitress that the mini-grill was ample – and should do me. To cut my drivel short – the steak was actually thick enough so that it came as ordered – medium cooked (see picture). The taste was perfect; I only used salt and no sauces. I would say – if you have a fav English Restaurant in mind, then you’ll get the same here; only this place prides itself on quality-locally-sourced ingredients. I enjoyed my mixed-grill.

Next door to the terrific Old Post Office B&B;, Crinnions' pub/restaurant delivered excellent food form a well-balanced menu in the restaurant (at the rear of the establishment).

Lunch here with friends is always special. We have the pensioners' special, although there is not an awful lot of difference in size to the man-sized meal! A varied menu, you are spoilt for choice.

Visited lovely Lanchester for the first time few days ago looking for somewhere to have lunch. On the off chance we followed quite a continuing flow of people into this building which looked more like an old butchers shop. It was! years ago!! as we found out once inside the place. It opened up into this amazing eating and drinking establishment with great menu and very welcoming staff with lots of information about the building and the attractive area.

Just had a meal with some friends and I have to say it was 1st class from walking in to when we left the staff where outstanding with great service and nothing was a problem. What can I say about the food apart from fantastic very fresh with a great taste . You must visit this place.

Whilst visiting Lanchester area for a couple of days, dropped in for meal. Had steak pie and veg - excellent. Service throughout was excellent - very friendly and welcoming. Very pleased with portion size and quality of food. Highly recommended

on arrival all the seats and tables were reserved.hot buffet only curry or chilli am not a lover of spicey food but they ran out of this not enough to go around.at ten pm headphones were passed around for a silent disco only problem not enough to go around so disco really was silent..we were looking forward to this night out when we complained we found out it was nobodies fault..taxi came early for us which was the best part of the night..there are plenty of pubs in the area I will not be spending any of my hard earned in crinnions again

Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch and it was all beautiful. There is a great choice of meats and the option to have several. Beware I had three and it was more than enough, almost.

Crinnions is our favourite place for food. We have always had amazing food here, great service especially from Linda. And plenty of choice on the menu for food and drinks.

We were staying in the area and were recommended to eat here, especially so as it was a Thursday and therefore Steak Night. A fillet steak at £15-95 is not to be missed, especially of this quality. They have their own butchery business so the source of meat is established.

What a surprise to find such a friendly and welcoming restaurant in Lanchester! There was a really good choice on the menu with a larger than normal kids menu as well. The food was freshly cooked and well presented. All three of us adults couldn't eat it all as the portions were very generous. If you live locally, you're very lucky! If you're on holiday don't miss it.

It's been about 12 months since we visited, probably because it's a £40 taxi trip (one way) from where we live, but when Sis was asked where she wanted to go for her birthday Crinnions it was. It was made all the more difficult when I read the menu and realised with 2 vegans in tow and a gluten intolerant Oh, we were on to a sticky wicket, so we rang ahead and booked the vegan meals beforehand, not thinking that we'd come to a problem with the gluten free starter, but my heart sank when I read the menu. It wasn't a problem, Chef sorted it, nor was it a problem for the vegan starters, in fact nothing is a problem. The seafood assiette went down a storm, my special pan fried pork chop with mushroom sauce was bloody lovely, OH was a happy bunny with his main, the vegans were well impressed with what they were served. We were stuffed,really happy with the service (you know who you are and you're fab). We will definitely be back (sorry, we'll give you notice!)

Had a lovely meal here tonight. The place is so welcoming and makes you feel very comfortable. Meal was amazing!!! Fillet steak cooked to perfection and sizzling salt and pepper chicken always superb. Bailey's and chocolate cheesecake was extremely good. Thank you for another gorgeous meal.

I decided to give this place a chance for a second time after the first disappointing experience when we had an awfully long wait of over 30 minutes in a near empty restaurant for what turned out to be a mediocre breakfast. The wait for the second time was not as long, however, they had run out of green tea bags and when I received my eggs benedict which looked delicious at first, the poached eggs were very hard. I had to return it for soft poached eggs and when they brought it back it looked as if they had run out of hollandaise sauce because what was left on my plate had become very thin and runny, not at all appetising. My husband had a full english which looked much nicer and he enjoyed it.

Very generous portions served in friendly surroundings. Reasonably priced and an extensive menu. The large mixed grill is "Challenging" to put it mildly.
