The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We ordered one mince and Dumplings and two Lamb Shank meals. A small 4 inch plate of veg came to the table consisting of 2 pieces of broccoli, 2 of cauliflower and a tablespoon of turnip. I asked if this was one portion of veg and was told No that is for all three of you. My husbands meal of mince arrived and we were impressed with the meal. I asked if we could have more veg as we were three adults who enjoy our greens. A further ten minutes passed and the two meals of Lamb arrived. My sister cut into hers and noted there was no steam from the inside and her shank was very cold in the middle. I checked mine and it was warm on the outside but freezing in the middle. We called for the waitress who used her finger to test the temperature of the shank. She agreed And immediately apologised. We said we did not want replacements and changed our choice to mince and dumplings. About 3 minutes later the waitress came back with the lamb shanks. We reiterated that we did not want to risk the lamb as every bodies fingers had been on it testing the temperature. The waitress again apologised and took the meals back to the chef. Almost immediately a small person dressed in a dirty black apron over chefs uniform. She held the plates up high and said she had dealt with the issue and these were now fit to eat. I asked her if the shanks had been reheated in a microwave, she said yes they had and what of it? I pointed out that peoples fingers had been in my meal and I did not want to eat it. My sister again said we would have mince as an alternative to which she replied “you can’t have mince as I make it to order, in fact forget it and just leave” we tried to reason with her but she accused me of having been in her pub before and having an agenda. At which my husband who had just been discharged from hospital with a serious heart complaint, tried to defend me and said we have never eaten here before. At which she replied “ just leave , get out and don’t come back”. We have never been treated like this before in any restaurant. I an 65 years old and disabled, also my husband is 69 years old with a serious heart condition and my sister is 58 years old and was visiting from Edinburgh. We left the pub very upset and I was extremely confused at the chefs outburst and her aggressive manner. We will not be visiting this pub again and would advice any other elderly or disabled person not to waste there evening dinning at this venue.

Friday 17th March. We hadn't booked a table as all the other times at 5.30pm it was very quiet. The restaurant was completely empty. A woman was sitting at the far end. We asked for a table for 4, the woman who I assumed was the "waitress" asked if we had booked, then proceeded to inform us in a very agitated manner that a table of 10 people were coming in. The tables were not set, which she said was because a "load of lads had come in prior", but they would be set up. Her manner was begining to verge on aggression, she returned to her seat, so we just left. This woman is certainly not suited to the Hospitality Industry with that kind of attitude! The strange thing is, had we booked we would have "got in", despite the large party coming in......doesn't make sense to me. Shame a restaurant is unable to accommodate for more than 10 people.

Bar Manager is incredibly rude! My in laws have been visiting this venue weekly for almost a year, I have joined them on many occasions. Today when my mother in law wanted to cancel a couple of people off as my sister is now working Christmas Day ( she’s a nurse! ) the bar manager got incredibly rude and aggressive towards her. Called her a very rude offensive name! And told her to get out of her pub! If you can call ahead and see what day she’s working I’d avoid them days! Ruins a lovely little place!

Shocking customer service. We queried the quality of the meals after previously enjoying a delicious Sunday dinner. Essentially steaks very poor quality and not cooked well. We were confronted by the landlady/ chef who totally ignored our views. Blamed the poor food on the butcher. When challenged she was very unprofessional and challenging. Ended up leaving. All it needed was a ‘I’m sorry’ instead of an abusive confrontational attitude. Needless to say we all left with our evening totally spoiled by such poor customer service.

We had this place recommended to us and to be honest we are a bit wary of recommendations as we are not the easiest people to please with food especially a Sunday lunch. However the recommendation was “on the money” as the food and service was excellent. We arrived and was immediately greeted and shown to a table and our drinks order was taken as soon as we sat down. We ere given time to browse the menu and decided on two beef and one lamb leg lunch, another member of the staff arrived with two dishes of piping hot veg and our lunches arrived with a substantial jug of gravy. Our eyes nearly fell out at the generous portion of roast beef and lamb on each plate and as well as roast potatoes you could have mash or boiled potatoes and a good sized Yorkshire pudding. The meat was so tender and a member of staff came over and enquired would we like more gravy which was a first for us and some pubs even charge for this but we kindly declined as we had ample. Even though we were so full I was determined to try a pudding after the best pub Sunday Lunch we have ever had so my wife and I shared some apple pie, which because we couldn’t make our mind up with ice cream or cream they gave us both. Unfortunately there was only one small portion left but they told us they would give it to us half price and yes you guessed it it was delicious. All in all this little pub is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back. Considering a pub only 5 mins walking from our house has just opened with a £500k refit we will drive to The Peacock for a much better quality of food and the friendliness of there staff. They don’t serve food Monday and Tuesday and have a different menu on a Wednesday to a Saturday which also looks very appetising. The prices are very reasonable and excellent value for money as you won’t leave hungry. Well done all of you and thanks from all of us for a memorable home cooked meal.

A little more gravy might have been nice as we only had one jug between the 4 of us but to be fair we did not ask and there was enough to go round (just). Four of us visited for sunday lunch, and found this small village pub to be spot on.We skipped the starters and went straight for the mains, 2 beef and 2 lamb, all meats were lovely and tender and good size portions. The Yorkshire puddings are home made and very tasty, husband asked for two which was no problem. There is a choice of mashed or boiled potatoes, and we got plenty of lovely vegetables, which were all cooked lovely, not too soft but firm, just how we like them. We asked for plenty of gravy which was not a problem. A lot of pubs do not give plenty of veg which is off putting, having to ask for extra. There is a good choice of home made desserts, which we skipped this time, by the way we have been back to this pub for 3 sunday lunches since we first visited, so that says it all., and the lunch is reasonable at 7.25p, The staff give good service, go out of there way to help, and also give a boiled sweet each when u pay the bill. The drinks are of a reasonable price compared to some pubs. We will continue to visit here if the pub keeps up their high standards

We happened across the Tees’Pot by accident after we had visited Low Force for a morning walk so we decided to give it a go. It’s quite basic in appearance and small but in a very quaint way. Please don’t let this put you off going in. After we were seated we all ordered some food the cheese scones and soup (curried vegetable) were very nice. My father in law had two mince pies with cream and he thoroughly enjoyed them. The food was extremely well prepared and filling. The staff are friendly and know their menu well. The prices seemed reasonable for a cafe in a tourist area and I’d go there again if I was in the area.
