Flanagan's in Isle of Wight

The restaraunt we were looking for turned out to be closed so we ventured into Flanagans instead, we weren't sure about it at first if I'm honest, it looked more pub than restaraunt but we needed dinner so took a table. The bar server was friendly and passed us a couple of menus and pointed out the specials. Drinks ordered we sat and went through the menu but both decided on the beef and ale pie from the specials. Whatever misgivings I might have had disappeared as soon as I cut into the pie! This chef knows how to make pastry!And the filling was glorious, big chunks of tender beef, rich with ale and gravy it was easily one of the best steak pies I've ever tasted - and filled to the brim as well. A lovely buttery mash and fresh carrots and broccoli to accompany it along with an extra little pot of gravy. Proper home style cooking, loved it. If we ever come back to Sandown we will surely go back to Fanagans

The staff were very friendly and they have a great selection of food - we had 3 young children and the staff were very accommodating and they even had a small box of toys for kids to play with which is a nice touch! Food was delicious!

We arrived without booking (7 of us and a dog) on a Sunday evening after being turned away from several other establishments. We were made very welcome by the staff and although the roasts were finished there were plenty of other options available. The food is good and very resonably priced and there are smaller options for those with lesser appetites. Altogether a very good experience. Thank you.

Me and my cousin went into Flanagans after a lovely day at the beach to have a drink and use the bathroom. When we arrived there we’re quite a lot of people by the bar so we decided to use the bathroom first. Then I assume she was one of the managers, came storming into the bathroom as we were washing our hands, looked us up and down with a dirty look and said you’d better be buying a drink after this. To which I replied we are I’m so sorry (as I was in shock at the tone she said it). We then headed to the bar to buy a lemonade but was greeted with dirty looks from the 2 male bartenders who were smirking as I pulled up my banking app on my phone. We were then so uncomfortable we had to leave at this point, to which one of the men started laughing and said “yeah I was waiting for that”. I have visited this place on multiple occasions and never had any issues, but the professionalism and unfriendliness we encountered today has changed my opinion and I will never be returning.

Found this place on TripAdvisor and the reviews didn’t let it down. Booked a table and the food and service were excellent. We enjoyed it so much we booked for the following evening.

Found by chance while looking for somewhere for dinner. Place looked friendly and was quite busy. Staff were really friendly & helpful. Has a lovely view over Sandown beach as well. Had pizza which was really nice, choice of sizes which was great for my daughter & I. A lady was just setting up to sing as we left so entertainment too!

This place is marvellous for food I love all fish wanted something light had smoked salmon and salad and crackers Sauce and cream cheese came separately hooray and all fresh,also reasonable priced I was amazed got a small shandy with this under what I spent on a very disappointing meal somewhere else that called themselves a fish restaurant THAT PLACE WAS NOT IN SANDOWN . Good vegan options, great entertainment, nice place to spend a few hours. Had the vegan bolognese after a long cycle so was dead chuffed to see a very generous portion. Could have done with a bit more salt but was able to add this myself. Reasonably priced and didn’t wait long for food. Singer was great with a good mix of tunes

Love this place! First went when on the island in 2015 been back every visit to the island never disappoints! 👌👌 about 20 visits now. Great beach and view of the pier aswell

Came here in a whim for some food and drinks. They were very accommodating, food was brilliant, drinks were reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this place and will be returning when I go back to the island. Staff very friendly.

Last night we went to Flannigan's for a Christmas Dinner and I must say the food was first class and plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful and all in all a good evening was had.

Chose initially for its outside seating with view. Good choice as we found all young staff helpful and friendly. Had the special of 2 steak meals, not bad value at all , would go again.

It’s a great location good sized food at a reasonable price let down by a lack of staff. When I arrived there were 3 staff at the entrance who were friendly, gave me a menu and told me to order from the bar. When I got back to the bar they had all gone and I had to wait for someone to come and serve me. My food arrived in good time and was ok. That was the last time I saw a member of staff. Even when I left there was no one to say goodbye or thank you to anywhere. I’m glad the main course was big enough to mean I didn’t need to order a dessert!

We had a pleasant and affordable evening at Flanigan's. The quality of the food and portion sizes were really good and the staff very friendly. I had a bacon and cheese burger and my partner a spicy bean burger. We did order sides, but to be honest, this was overkill. In the summer it would also be a lovely place to sit outside.

Stopped in here for dinner as it has a good selection on the menu and a nice terraced area with view of the sea. I had a Stilton burger and mum had Cajun chicken and they were both very filling and delicious. Very welcoming and friendly staff and tasty grub. Another busy spot so be prepared to wait for a good table unless you reserved.

Came for a date with my partner and the food was amazing, loved the homemade burger and my partner enjoyed her steak sizzler we would like to thank all the staff for their great service and all the chefs that cooked our great food! Thank you soo much

Friendly staff. Dog friendly inside and out with lots of seating. Good prices. Food is decent quality but not amazing hence the 4 stars. I would compare it to a spoons which is a good thing for us younger people!

Visited on a Saturday evening which was fairly busy. Managed to secure a sofa but a member of staff let us know they had a table free if we wanted to move which we did. Ordered 2 steaks which were £20 for both including chips & peas. The chips are homemade & absolutely gorgeous. The steak was cooked (maybe slightly more than we’d asked for) but it was absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere & great food, what more can you ask for?

The BEST burger we ever tasted! Move over Five Guys, this place has is NAILED! Homemade, 8oz steak burger - but superb - Flavour, texture, condiments. Impressive onion rings and fabulous chunky chips. The fish and chips were amazing too - the homemade tartare sauce almost stole the show, almost. Excellent value, friendly, high quality, perfect location. Top marks.

Popped in for a drink, this was a good start. We went back to eat, this was the best decision ever. The burger I had was incredible, succulent, well seasoned and perfectly cooked - possibly the best burger I've ever had. Well done!
