First time I have been here .but my sister has been b4 with partner . Wow best fish and chips I've had .spoke to a lovely lady called Donna such a lovely lady very pleasant definitely be going again 😊

I came here with my family, we had a lovely meal. The food was hot, and tasty. Loved the chips!! Good value for money. Ronnie, the server was very friendly. I would 100% recommend Wights :) Thank you!

Our last night in Ryde and didn't want to cook. Googled fish and chips in Ryde and Wights looked favourable. Didn't disappoint, they were DELICIOUS!, sat on seafront and ate everything !

I had an excellent fish and chip supper there yesterday evening. The Cod was beautifully cooked in a lovely light batter and it came with a really generous portion of chips. The service was efficient and very friendly.

Great service and food that was tasty and hot and the tartar sauce was delicious so much so we asked for more a great little place and great value for money. We will be back next time we are down the island.

We had a late lunch here of cod and chips (lite). Excellent service, food and ambience. Reasonably priced too and just the right amount of portions. The wonderful tartar sauce is made inhouse and highly recommended. The staff were polite, welcoming and attentive. Really enjoyed the food and I will return. If you're in Ryde, IOW, and craving fish and chips go here. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Not as good as it used to be. Portions are very small now, a large is a small at other chip shops in Ryde for less money and same/better quality. Curry sauce is very good though 👍

Staff are exceptionally professional yet casual. Amicable team. Quality food with good options to choose from. Try their curry sauce & mushy peas, no regrets. 💯

A review said they do gluten free, they do NOT do gluten free fish and chips. You can have steamed fish but the chips are cooked along with everything else so will contain traces of gluten

Best fish and chip shop on the Isle of Wight. 7 min wait but worth it for fresh food 5 stars. Visited for past 9 years always excellent, NO complaints EVER. I'm not local to ryde but will travel to here for quality fish and chips anytime 👌

1st time visiting wight fish and chips and it is honestly the best chip shop I have ever been too and it is the best fish and chip shop on the Isle of Wight highly recommend lovely staff and fast service

Amazing. Hot, fresh and well presented. Nice portions and all fish explained in strength and fishyness. If that's a word. Fresh made tartar sauce. Nothing seemed to be a problem. Very quite for Monday but very appreciated.

Wow what delicious food, i had cod and chips and can honestly say it was the best I've had, absolutely gorgeous. Washed down with a banana milkshake. Bloody lovely! Great service too. Thank you.

Probably the best so called traditional fish and chips I’ve had in very long time. The chips - they were prepared and cooked beautifully the potatoes used were nice quality and not one bad chip on the generously sized plate. The potatoes were peeled yes removed no skin anywhere to be found and not one chip had a blemish ! The fish was nice size not to small not to large and was white fresh not flaky or dry and the batter was nice crispy golden brown - a very good batter in todays world The mushy peas ! These are always contentious I come from where mushy peas were invented and used to be served alone with mint sauce ! But to be slightly critical they were too thick and not sweet enough, a little more runny and a little sweeter they would have been perfect. Bread and butter came with my order, nice and fresh bread though cut corner to corner, in a traditional fish and chip eatery it would be in half horizontally and served on a separate plate and not under the chips as was in this case. (Minor point - offer more than one slice good way to upsell) The service in the restaurant, was brilliant the waitress was helpful and very friendly cheerful and reminded of a cockney welcome, everyone called “darling” she was great and certainly made a solo traveller welcome. The shop itself is a little confusing and door to the restaurant is on the corner of the building but like many other not knowing went into the takeaway side, when asked if eat in option available she looked at me like an alien and said yes just go through and someone will come to you ! Great information but didn’t say where to go so I almost ended in the back kitchen. A little more friendly like the waitress she would have been great and maybe a bit more welcoming, customer service nationally in Uk isn’t great compared to lots of other countries so be nice to prove it can be done! And definitely clearer instructions how to access the restaurant be very helpful If I can note some personal minor observations 1. Bread and butter served on separate plate 2. Give option or not for lemon wedge or tartare sauce (save waste most don’t use or want it 3. Use mugs for tea or offer them 4. Mushy peas thin out the consistency and make very slightly sweeter ( can even sell on own with mint sauce ! ) Overall a very happy experience and would definitely recommend anyone to visit ! I noted lots of of prepared food in the warmers which means is a busy fish and chip shop and they fry appropriately unlike some on the island that make you wait outside for 10 minutes or more whilst they cook them ! My greatest note is that they clearly know how to prepare and cook fish and chips ! And I note as a takeaway they don’t put it in a box ! I think that’s as near traditional assigning today’s world. Thankyou for making my day by finding good food and as a single traveller Fish chips mushy peas bread and butter and generous freshly made tea for around £15 is good value on my book

Great fish and chips bar, we got in late, but the lovely lady let us have a sit down meal as was raining and cold outside, we all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, this place is very popular, can really see why! Definitely recommend trying Wights chippies.

I went alone but was very comfortable sitting in the restaurant. Delicious hake and chips and a glass of wine. Couldn't fault it.

Had excellent food, friendly service and a nice glass of wine. All for £13. Definitely recommend. I'm a visitor to Ryde but had seen this restaurant and liked the menu.

Wights is always a great place tò buy supper. You can eat in or takeaway. Orders can be placed online and then collected . The staff are always welcoming, polite, and understanding when it comes to your request for food. They do remember you. The food is always hot.

Honestly best fish and chips ive ever had ! Fish lovely and crispy , chips great and amazing tartar sauce , from Beegee and Granpa 🙂

Stood there for 10 minutes while I was ignored by a young lad behind the counter while he played with the till and had a couple of chats with other staff. Eventually walked out and went to the chip shop by the castle and got served straight away and walked out 2 minutes later with my chips.

Fancied fish and chips for my evening meal before catching the ferry home. I had read the reviews and I was not disappointed. I had haddock and chips. The batter on the fish was light and crispy just how it should be. The chips I have to say were the some of the best I have ever eaten for this kind of establishment. My daughter had a cheese burger and chips which she also enjoyed. This all came at a very reasonable price with the added bonus of a nice sitting area to eat the food. Would highly recommend. The only draw back is that it is a long uphill walk if you are at the esplanade but will worth the effort.

Came to this take away as the reviews were really good, sorry to say we were disappointed! The girl that served us was miserable, never cracked a smile once, hardly spoke and couldn’t wait to get rid of us! Was trying to tell me how much my order was before I had even finished ordering! She did ask if we wanted salt and vinegar to which I replied. ‘Yes, lots please’ well we didn’t get any!! What’s the point in asking if you’re not going to bother doing it. The food was quite nice but would have been better had there been salt and vinegar on! We didn’t have any of our own with us as we were camping! Sorry to say, Won’t be going back here any time soon.

Really don't understand the positive reviews which I based my visit on. Chips nothing special at all. Bland. Edible with salt & vinegar. Cod was a nice size but batter awful. Wouldn't personaly return. The way prices are at the moment, I want to be wowed otherwise I'll buy from M&S at a fraction of the price & twice the taste or visit the lovely fish & chip shop at Regal Fish & Chips in Bembridge. A small note but long haired individuals serving food in any environment without a hair net just shows the level of hygiene isn't paramount. Nothing against the servers.

Truly exceptional, divine fish and chips. Best I’ve ever had.

Not impressed. Ordered online for a 18.30 pickup. Arrived at 18.25 and waited until 18.45 for food to be ready. The burgers were disgusting, very small despite being 'double bacon and cheese' and were ultimately inedible, there was no difference in portion size for the more expensive Large F&C portion, and there was a hair in the tartare sauce. We won't be returning.

Great fish and chips! Batter was light, not oily, but crispy, just like I like it. The fish was well cooked. The chips were wonderful, crisper than I've ever had anywhere else. Service was great, the lady who served us was really nice, friendly and helpful.

Fabulous Fish n Chips. You cannot beat Wights for freshly cooked crispy battered Cod, Haddock, Veggie Burger and crispy golden Chips. Our favourite Chippy did not disappoint today, despite being extremely busy. We were proud to bring visiting family for a delicious Chippy treat. Highly recommended X

The fish and chips had a lovely garlic/chives/oniony subtle aftertaste that was absolutely lovely, the place reminded me very much of the typical fish and chips where my grandparents used to take me for a treat,the portions are generous and the price affordable. Best fish and chips I had since I was 8!

We got a takeaway from here as staying local whilst on holiday, and it was near our accommodation. The cod, plaice and chicken nuggets were all very tasty and well cooked. Chip portions are generous and we shared portions between two. The tartare sauce supplied was good too. We all really enjoyed our meal. Definitely a takeaway I’d happily recommend.

Like the title says, Wights Fish and Chips are the best on the planet. My two daughters and myself were spoilt in all our eating out experiences during our recent holiday to the Isle of Wight. We have never tasted such delicious fish and chips in all our lives. Sometimes, you may get a cod and the chips are not great, but not Wights, these chips were outstanding. If you are visiting the island either on holiday or a day trip, please visit Wights, you will not be disappointed.

Well this came up as 'the best on the island ' so as we were within walking distance thought we'd give it a try. The good things - cardboard packaging , crunchy batter, a small portion available, delicious chips, lemon and tartare sauce. The not so good things - HUGE portion , no lemon or sauce in the haddock and chips , no salt or vinegar even though asked ( didn't find that out til down on the sea front) . And I don't know what had gone on before we got there but I r never seen such an unhappy group of staff in my life. Oh dear. So yes, tasty chips but ...

Food was good but service was not,ordered over the phone spoke to a member of staff on arrival which you are asked to do but no order appeared people walking in ordering being served straight away and leaving so there is no point in phoning order or placing online so guys the system needs working on food was good.

First night on our family holiday, we got our usual fish and chip dinner. Most of the food was great, however the fish my father in law had wasn't the best, it was dry and not very nice. Not great as he was the one who payed for the large order. Disappointed.

Very nice cod. Far too many chips - even on the 'light' portion, so unless you're starving, the smaller size should be sufficient. Quick and efficient takeaway service. Served in a handy cardboard box so easy for eating on your knee at the seafront. Only downsides: couldn't taste the salt and vinegar so they go light on that and you may need to ask for extra; one box of cod and chips included a small tub of tartare sauce and a slice of lemon but the other one didn't. We didn't discover these points until we were down at the seafront eating so couldn't do anything about it then. I recommend you watch when it's being packaged up so you can ask for more seasoning and prompt if anything is forgotten.

Was recommended to come here by Ryde residents. All I can say is that I have just had the worst piece of haddock in living memory (60+ yrs). It was no thicker than5-10mm at any point on the fillet and I was able to pick up the entire fillet, like a piece of shoe leather, wave it around without it falling apart. The batter was a pale, undercooked, tasteless layer of yuk, but the fish was over cooked because there was so little of it. Maybe it was an anaemic, anorexic haddock… However, the chips were good, clearly home produced, not frozen out of a bag. Just wish they had treated the fish with the same amount of care.

I think ine of the worst place in terms of service . Food is okay but if you are lucky enough to get it. Worst management just keep you waiting for more than 40 minutes just for fish and chips total waste of time Will never go again

This is the best "eat in". Chip shop in Ryde. The food is excellent quality, cooked perfectly, presented perfectly.! They do milk shakes, coffees and teas as well as all types of burger. It's a lovely cafe atmosphere and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

We pre-ordered online and then traveled to pick them up. We chose Wights because of the great reviews. We had cod & chips and battered sausage and chips. The portion sizes are really good and very tasty. The best thing was the tartar sauce is handmade and the best tartare sauce we have ever had. When we visit the Isle of Wight again we will come back.

Last night of our short break to the Isle of wight and we fancied fish and chips. We looked fish and chip restaurants and up popped Wights fish and chip restaurant. The reviews were good so we gave it a go. We have to say we were not disappointed. The service was great and the food was delicious, just what we fancied. We would definitely recommend the tartar sauce it was great. Thanks wight's it was just what we wanted

Ordered chips n gravy as a naughty lunchtime treat and I'm so glad I did, beautiful chips, nice and crispy and really nice gravy. I went back and told them how much I liked the gravy, I guess it's just from a powder but there was something about it that means I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Ryde.

Freshly cooked to order fish and chips with free condiments including ketchup and homemade tartar sauce. We had cod and chips and it was spot on.

Really enjoyed our order from Wights. The batter isn't overly greasy, fish is deliciously flaky & chips are golden & cooked to perfection. The homemade tartare sauce is very tasty too. Wights are definitely one of our "go-to" chippies!

As Ryde residents we have visited most of the chippys in town. Wights is, in our opinion, by far the best. Particular praise goes to the saveloys and wallys, having hunted high and lo all over the South it is very rare to find good...

Really good quality fish and chips. Price is excellent too. Service is quick and friendly. On one of the hottest days of the year and it was baking inside. Queried about the ceiling fans, as they weren't switched on. Advised by staff they have never known them to work. Basically owner " can't be bothered" to fix them. Message to owner ' SORT OUT THE CEILING FANS!' and make your customers feel comfortable in the summer. Apart from that, everything is great. Try it!

We didn't actually sample the food as my mum by accident ordered from these guys instead ofour local (123 miles away). When we realised our mistake, and as we had paid already, we called and they refunded. They were also super friendly and their customer service is top notch! We hope to actually eat the fish and chips some time soon!

The staff we're lovely and Friendly, but wasn't impressed with the cod and chips, the fish was buried underneath a pile of hard,crispy like yesterday's chips warmed up, all for £10.50 😲, even the kids left most of the chips.

The whole meal was very basic. Chips chewy, large cod was made look large, but really was quite pathetic. No salt and vinegar and took over 20mins to make. All for £15. Daylight robbery.
