I came yesterday with my friends for afternoon tea, it was by far the worst afternoon tea experience we’ve ever had!! I was so shocked that this awful experience came from such reputable hotel! Very unexpected! I was so looking forward for a traditional afternoon tea and I choose the hotel based on reputation and location and invited my friends to come along, I’ve initially booked for 7 and two cancelled on the day for emergency reasons, the afternoon tea was then served, it didn’t look appetising or inviting, tea cups arrived with no saucers underneath, no cups for water for water bottles!! The food was served on one of these wooden blocks which was unexpected and unappealing for the traditional afternoon tea style we were expecting, those blocks were ugly and made it hard to access the items desolated inside and made it hard to communicate with ont another as there in ur face kind of thing!! The whole desolate looked like anything but a traditional afternoon tea style! Coming to the food itself We had soggy couple of sandwiche sliced each, unappealing purple dyed salmon setting on densed pastry (why would u dye the beautiful salmon colour in that unappealing appetising way, it was awfull, we also had arancini balls with meat in the middle despite me telling them we dont want anything containing meat or pork or alcohol when I booked, they apologised and replaced it later with vege version, Scones where ice cold, not fresh and it looked and tasted like what you get in these prepackaged scones from supermarkets,, we also had runny icecrem with few diced pieces of strawberries swimming in the middle, At this point we were off and didn’t want to complete the couple of items left in the sweet section because they also looked like something u just opened from packaging and placed on a plate in a rush!! When we’re ready to pay I was told I need to pay for seven although five came and I asked for afternoon for five on arrival as two cancelled due to emergency happened at the time, no one mentioned this when I booked and it didnt sound right that I have to pay for two extra when they didn’t turn up, The restaurant manager came and told me that he had to prepare for seven and I have to pay for seven because of this, at this point I flipped and wasn’t sure what exactly was pre prepared as everything there looked like ready made supermarket quality food not a top hotel restaurant quality food, and he can see they that there was food left over which shows that wr didn’t enjoy what wr had!! He the. Said I don’t know what’s ur explanation from an afternoon trea, I then Stopped him and said I’ve been to so many in my life most in hotels and I never received this below average experince, food in other place looked artisan, made for you, prepared, inviting, appetising, opposite to what we had! He then apologised and ask me to pay for the five wr had! I’ll never come back again nor my friends will, worst food and very unprofessional restaurant manager, he’s got zero customer service and satisfaction experince!! What a shame…

I made sure I booked a table in advance, as we were a party of 8 and so glad I did, as it was very busy. You certainly noticed they were either short staffed or extremely busy due to the large groups there. We were greeted by the manager who was extremely helpful and showed us where everything was, as never to this place before. Our server was also really friendly and the food was nice. Two issue we had was the salad cart wasn’t replenished, we asked a member of staff if she could ask the kitchen to replace items, she said they would be out but never came, we chased her again and the only reason she dealt with the issue was because a kitchen never of staff came out. Honestly she was rude and the kitchen member of staff looked like his world had ended as we asked for the items to be restocked! When it came to desserts, our original server must have been on a break, as someone else took over, unfortunately he took slow to another level! My friends order a hot drink and mini dessert, it was advertised to come together, however they got their hot drinks was told the dessert would come shortly, after 10 mins we chased, they finally received the cake, but we were still waiting for the other desserts. We arrived at 2.50pm and left just after 5.30pm, I appreciate we had time for dinner to settle etc, but the kids were getting bored by this stage and couldn’t see a member of staff to chase.

Ahora llamado el Charcoa Carvery desde su renovación recientemente y me quedé impresionado con la nueva decoración que era lujoso y con clase. El personal era agradable y ansioso por ayudar y para todos era domingo a la hora del almuerzo no había cola para ser servido y un montón de opciones de arreglos de reasiento para todos los que no habíamos reservado. Elegí el pavo que era perfecto y mi familia tenía carne de res que disfrutaron. Había una buena selección de verduras (incluso ensalada si lo hubiéramos querido) pero me resultó difícil acceder a las verduras ya que no hay donde bajar el plato y necesitas una mano para abrir la tapa y otra para servir las verduras. También los contenedores en la parte posterior del servidor de verduras eran muy inaccesibles - esto debe haber sido diseñado por una persona muy alta sin tener en cuenta a los clientes más bajos y cualquier persona con una discapacidad o solo capaz de usar una mano habría estado en una desventaja grave. Además, nunca descubrimos las salsas hasta que volvimos a seleccionar nuestro postre, ya que las salsas se apartan de la zona real de carvery y verduras. En el pasado pagabas al final y todo era el mismo precio. Ahora se compra un boleto al principio, pero las comidas son más caras que la selección de carvery, así que ¿cómo saber lo que realmente quieres hasta que estés en el servidor y para entonces es demasiado tarde - o has pagado por carvery o pagado por una comida, así que eso es una configuración extraña que encontré. PERO volver a la comida y eso fue bueno, abundante y caliente. Se describe como el "último carvery" y creo que es bastante optimista - su sabor y el ambiente es encantador, pero se necesitan algunos ajustes prácticos en mi opinión. en el servidor de verduras y hacer que los clientes sepan que las salsas están disponibles. Disfruté de mi trío de mini postres y la asistente llevó las bebidas calientes a la mesa cuando las había hecho. Una tarde agradable mientras el hombre del piano tocaba de fondo.

I am disgusted that Edward Booth is penalising his regular customers by inflicting a one hour time restriction on spending money {to enhance his cushy lifestyle) I understand that it is inconvenient that hospital visitors abuse the carpark making it difficult for shoppers to park, but a better solution should be found. When I voiced my feelings to a member of staff I was asked if I had any suggestions to alleviate the problems (yes many) pay me Edward and I will share my ideas! Meanwhile I will vote with my feet (well car really) my local corner shop, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Tesco will be my "go to" shops in the future. EDWARD, you had two left feet when we all went to the Top Rank Ballroom, you still have two left feet shunning all the people who have made you rich. Hopefully (like Woolworths - booths will become a thing of the past and a better company will take over the running of the shop.

A visit to the Garden Centre at Shenstone. Sadly in decline after being so well managed previously. Visited today, there were no staff around to ask questions. We were interested in quite a large item but sadly no sign of a price. I asked a young lady if she knew where I could find the price. She quite sharply said that if price not there I would need to take to till for them to scan. I decided not to purchase from here.The till was right the other end of store. Previously we had visited centre and after buying a few products asked to collect a John Lewis order, we were told we would have to wait for assistant to come off their lunch break. This centre used to be so well managed with good customer service, you felt special when visiting. Sadly customer service is poor after being very good. I have to say the young man on the till was beyond excellent, very pleasant, a “good morning “, “is there anything else I can help you with”.

Also a member of BLESMA We had our Christmas lunch in the Bowling Green and it was excellent We have also had a couple of breakfast since the last one being 140525 Again, the food and service was excellent One of the staff even brought me a glass of ice water outside in the sunshine thank you again to the staff and we will see you all soon, Dr Baz xxx
