I came yesterday with my friends for afternoon tea, it was by far the worst afternoon tea experience we’ve ever had!! I was so shocked that this awful experience came from such reputable hotel! Very unexpected! I was so looking forward for a traditional afternoon tea and I choose the hotel based on reputation and location and invited my friends to come along, I’ve initially booked for 7 and two cancelled on the day for emergency reasons, the afternoon tea was then served, it didn’t look appetising or inviting, tea cups arrived with no saucers underneath, no cups for water for water bottles!! The food was served on one of these wooden blocks which was unexpected and unappealing for the traditional afternoon tea style we were expecting, those blocks were ugly and made it hard to access the items desolated inside and made it hard to communicate with ont another as there in ur face kind of thing!! The whole desolate looked like anything but a traditional afternoon tea style! Coming to the food itself We had soggy couple of sandwiche sliced each, unappealing purple dyed salmon setting on densed pastry (why would u dye the beautiful salmon colour in that unappealing appetising way, it was awfull, we also had arancini balls with meat in the middle despite me telling them we dont want anything containing meat or pork or alcohol when I booked, they apologised and replaced it later with vege version, Scones where ice cold, not fresh and it looked and tasted like what you get in these prepackaged scones from supermarkets,, we also had runny icecrem with few diced pieces of strawberries swimming in the middle, At this point we were off and didn’t want to complete the couple of items left in the sweet section because they also looked like something u just opened from packaging and placed on a plate in a rush!! When we’re ready to pay I was told I need to pay for seven although five came and I asked for afternoon for five on arrival as two cancelled due to emergency happened at the time, no one mentioned this when I booked and it didnt sound right that I have to pay for two extra when they didn’t turn up, The restaurant manager came and told me that he had to prepare for seven and I have to pay for seven because of this, at this point I flipped and wasn’t sure what exactly was pre prepared as everything there looked like ready made supermarket quality food not a top hotel restaurant quality food, and he can see they that there was food left over which shows that wr didn’t enjoy what wr had!! He the. Said I don’t know what’s ur explanation from an afternoon trea, I then Stopped him and said I’ve been to so many in my life most in hotels and I never received this below average experince, food in other place looked artisan, made for you, prepared, inviting, appetising, opposite to what we had! He then apologised and ask me to pay for the five wr had! I’ll never come back again nor my friends will, worst food and very unprofessional restaurant manager, he’s got zero customer service and satisfaction experince!! What a shame…

We visited Crowne Plaza for afternoon tea this afternoon. We were sat outside on the terrace overlooking the lake, such a lovely seating area outside especially in the Spring sunshine. Afternoon Tea was scrumptious and so much, we didn’t even get through it all. If your looking for a location that’s not super crowded but has a wonderful atmosphere and great staff, you will not be disappointed at Crowne Plaza, Solihull. Thank you for a lovely afternoon 😊

Was rather quiet when we visited, we were staying at the hotel and the restaurant wasn’t open to the general public. Had a nice two course meal consisting of the soup x2, a pasta dish and the salmon. All were very tasty and good portion sizes too. The drinks were nice but would have like a larger selection of cocktails, however was good none the less. Good value for money and a cosy setting.

I would like to echo the sentiment of another reviewer and describe this as a better than average Hotel restaurant. The atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is warm and relaxing and the food of a decent "gastropub"esque standard. On the evening we visited the service was a little scatty with the Duty Manager having to lend a hand - possibly due to being short staffed. But everyone who served us was friendly and couldn't do enough to help.

Had a very nice afternoon tea. They were very flexible and accommodated us despite us having different requirements : Two vegetarians, one pescetarian and one carnivore.

We had lunch there and even though we ordered our food at the bar we could sit anywhere. The place was very warm, comfortable and very smart. Our steaks were cooked very well and burger looked very nice. The staff were very friendly and very friendly and accommodating and made us feel welcome. Not a place to be rushed so just enjoy experience. Th extra bonus as we are members of health club we got 25% off food and drink.

This restaurant is part of the Holiday Inn hotel in the centre of Solihull. It has been recently refurbished. We called in for lunch on a cool day so unfortunately were not able to use the very attractive terrace area. The menu was predictable in a chain hotel, sandwiches, pasta, grills and salads. We both had a salmon dish one with salad and one with vegetables. We both enjoyed our meal. The wine list was good. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating but a little overstretched in such a large area. All in all an enjoyable lunch time we will definitely return.

Well, I'd never thought of going for a meal at our local Holiday Inn, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found at the Terrace Restaurant. It seems that ground floor of the hotel and the restaurant has undergone a refurbishment and it certainly shows it. We had booked a table for 14, for an 80th birthday, with various ages, from 8 years up to 80's. We didn't feel cramped together and we were made very welcome. There was a lot of variety on the menu, which can sometimes spell disaster, but I believe that all of out party was impressed with the food. For example I had for starters, chicken skewers (but more like a spicy kebab), where the dip packed a punch on the heat stakes, to having one of the specials for my main course, beef medallions with a pepper sauce and potatoes (the potatoes had a specific name, but I can't remember it). There was a kids menu too, which kept my 8 year old happy, with garlic bread to start with, then pizza slices and chips, followed by a large desert. I think the drinks is where you will find the restaurant expensive, as I believe that the bottles of wine we had on the table were £20 each (I don't know the exact price as I didn't buy them). But I have to say that the red I tasted was lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive and truly made us feel welcome. They brought out the birthday cake, sang happy birthday with the rest of us, and even gave my mother a birthday card from them all. Looking around, it seemed they had different types of seating and in the back corner there looked like some diner type of seating facing each other. Perfect seating for kits and laid back adults :) I know the Holiday Inn has a separate listing, but I thought its restaurant deserved its own listing, so others could comment about it and find out about it. Lets hope you have a similar experience as we did.

I hosted a small networking event at Wetherspoons, and the experience was great. The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and helpful, making sure everything ran smoothly. They even kept hold of some signage after I'd left it there accidentally! Thank you so much!

Popped out earlier today for lunch in the sun. My mobility isn't great, so I sought a table, while my son went to the bar for beers and menus. He works within the same group, so is very objective about waiting times/service etc. I thought he'd got lost, but he did explain, customer volume had exceeded staff numbers, but they'd had the good grace to explain, and that was no longer a problem. We're both massive dog lovers, so we soon found well behaved four legged distractions. Now knowing that we might wait a little for service, my son returned to order our food, and second drinks. The Signature Burgers were superb, proper quality beef, and onion rings to die for! We're big units, with healthy appetites, but felt no need for for additional courses, but both the Guinness and Thatchers, were both right on par. Can't say that of everywhere in the week of St Pats? The table servers were spot on, engaging and polite, the one fella even working past his allotted break, to make sure our needs were met, couldn't fault them. The custom around us, ebbed and flowed naturally enough, and if I had to withhold a star, some dog owners are not too responsible, and when you can hear the yapping above the road noise, you know the experience is about to descend. The other downside, the old chestnut, being the anti social smokers! Whether there's a designated area or not, the anti social among them, still managed to detract from a near perfect lunch. We will return, without doubt, it was just such a shame, that having driven out from the city, the outdoor experience was spoiled.

The service is very slow but after a complaint and a 56-minute wait, the starters arrived. The lettuce in mother's starter looked dirty and one of the chips had a hair on it . However, it has nice surroundings and a good range of choices on the menu.
