Sunday lunch at The Red Lion was a brilliant experience, the food was delicious, the service was first class. As it was my daughter’s birthday I wanted somewhere special, it certainly did not disappoint. I would highly recommend.

The place itself is lovely, and the food was decent enough, but the service from our waitress was really awful. She just didn’t want to know, refused to engage with us throughout and the odd time she spoke to us it was in an unpleasant tone. We had three rounds of drinks during our time at the table, I had to go up to the bar and get the drinks myself on all 3 occasions as she just would not come over. I tried to get eye contact with her but she would just look everywhere else apart from at us. God knows what we did to offend her. Also the food took 40 minutes to come out, which is a disaster when you are with young children. They should have brought the kids food out well before 40 minutes. I think the other staff seemed ok, but there was no where near enough of them, penny pinching on wages and it let the whole experience down. I would go again if I knew we would be served by somebody else. We had Sunday Roasts, which were quite good, beef over-cooked and not much of it, but generally fine and acceptable prices. But the service, none existent basically.

Very relaxing environment on the edge of Earlswood lakes a very tidy pint of ale (Tribute) and a very nice Aubergine Gratin with chips and garlic bread compliments to the chef it was delicious and very filling I'll be back All the best kimbo Ps. Dog friendly 😍

Only went here for a beer and to sit in the beer garden whilst the UK basked in it's 2 days of sunshine and it was lovely! Food looked good too

Outstanding food, exceptional service by Dan and the team, and a brilliant atmosphere. This rustic pub has it all. There's free parking, a wide-ranging menu that's well priced, and the pub team goes above and beyond to make sure you and yours have the best dining experience you could hope for. We were left wishing we lived close enough to make this our local.

Had Sunday lunch with a friend, it's a lovely pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Food a little expensive although I like the concept of a mini pudding and hot drink very clever thinking.

We held my Moms wake at the Red Lion on 09/08. Ellie and Charlotte took care of everything, the service was excellent, the food was tasty and plentiful. The Red Lion is such a calm and welcoming pub, we were so pleased we chose this venue over several others. Thank you.

Just stopped of after walk round Earlswood Lakes, had a drink only but all the food that came out looked good, staff friendly and polite.

Went for family birthday lunch, we were a large party, so we had a separate room and our own waitress. Dan and the team looked after us brilliantly, very satisfied.

Great quality every thing and interior is chic 👌. Came in again 03/08/24 for drink after walking round Earlswood lakes, was a lovely sunny sat outside there was a table available. Bar was quick and friendly service. You can now order at your table via scanning the QR code and they’ll be brought out to you. We had our baby with us too but was no issue had parasols for shade too

New to the area and tried this place yday for the first time, was really looking forward to it, Sunday roast was very disappointing, the roasters and veg were really greasy and the lamb was very pink but yet I could hardly cut it, it was very chewy, i had to ask for a steak knife, partner had the trio of meat and the belly port was under cooked too, for £20 a roast you expect it to be perfectly cooked. Wouldn’t return.

The Red Lion is a gem of a country pub on the outskirts of Solihull. We went for lunch with friends and the food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. Cleo our waitress was friendly, bright and polite and could not have done any more to make our visit special, she is a great asset to the business.

Service at the Red Lion was fabulous. We arrived and asked to be seated by the open door as we had a lady of a certain age who needed cool air on a hot day. We were served promptly and waitress was knowledgeable and helpful with our requests. Food was delicious, slight hiccup with the curry but quickly rectified. Desserts were to die for. Atmosphere was lovely too. Great food, service and atmosphere. Would throughly recommend 😊

We arrived early and sat in the garden for drinks. There is plenty of parking there.I had booked on line but when we got there, there was not a table booked for us (5 of us). Probably my error.However the waitress was very helpful and found us a table in the dining area. The service was very good. The waitress was friendly and helpful and we didn’t wait too long for food despite it being a sunny sunday lunch time and the pub being busy. We had two pies, two roasts and a signature burger and all were very nice and good value. The dessert menu has a selection of mini desserts on it which come with a hot drink included in the price. I chose one of these mini desserts and it was just the right size after the big lunch. However some in our party had the lemon tart which was in fact lovely. We sat outside before and afterwards for drinks. All in all a very nice afternoon.

My wife and I are planning a family meeting. This place has everything we want. Top notch food and drink at a reasonable price.

Lovely afternoon celebrating two birthdays, we took the opportunity to use the voucher for the free bottle of Prosecco. 🍾 Food was lovely as always, I decided to try the fish cakes and they didn’t disappoint, I would definitively order them again.

Always good to visit a proper pub.

We stopped by for lunch today, the pub is very clean and cosy. We're shown to our table by a not so very helpful waitress. We ordered our food and drinks. One scotch egg as a stater for us to try , which came put about 20 minutes later. We then waited and waited for our mains. Altogether an hour passed an no sign of the mains. I asked the waitress who said because we had a starter that was why there was a delay, " it's coming it's coming" was her quiet rude reply. We sat for a further 10.minutes and no sign of our food and no one checked in with us to explain the delay. We paid for our drinks and the one starter and left very disappointed by the way the waitress handled the whole situation. The lady who took our payment was very apologetic. First and last time we will come here. Which is a shame as we were expecting a nice meal and becoming regulars.

Turned up to ask if they had a table available. Waited 5 minutes to be at the front of the queue then was ignored for another 10 minutes whilst two of the waiting staff argued about where to put another group. Wasn't even told 'sorry be with you in a moment'. Eventually I said 'you know what, forget it' and went to walk out. Both members of staff looked at me but offered no apology & let me leave. Unbelievable. Will not be back. Avoid

This traditional style country pub is first class. The food, drinks, and service are exceptional. Particular thank you goes to Charlotte who provided top notch service. Thank you very much.

Came on Father’s Day and despite being busy the atmosphere was great and the staff attentive. Great menu and the food was delicious. Best Roast beef I’ve ever had!

Had the Sunday roast in here a few weeks back after being recommended it years ago and it did not disappoint. One of the best I've had in a long time, recommended!

Table waiting for us as booked , waitress explained procedure due to covid. Drinks arrived promptly (including several re-fills ) . Food order arrived as ordered, absolutely piping hot , recommend Red Lion, it is best to book.

Lovely place to have a drink. Dog friendly. Busy inside , but do have an outside area with seating. . You can book a table. If you don't like dogs don't go. I love them. They provide individual bowls for water and dog treats, dogs allowed inside and out and guaranteed fuss from the staff.

It was a busy when we arrived, but the service we received was really good. 4 meals were ordered and considering how busy it was, our meals arrived about 15-20mins later and were served hot and very enjoyable. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future.

Hired the private room for a wedding function. Charlotte was amazing and rang me to discuss food. On the day they decorated the room for us and set the cake up. The buffet food was absolutely fabulous, all our guests complimented on how delicious it was. I can highly recommend this place.

The service we received was fantastic and the food was amazing The only issue we had is they only sold one type of zero percent beer my husband doesn’t drink shorts but they did have those. Need zero percent Guinness please

A beautiful countryside pub in Earlswood with lots to choose from on the menu. I went for the salad and my friend had the Pie of the Day which looked really good! Great atmosphere, decor and amazing service!

The Red Lyon hosted my sisters wedding in the Library area. We certainly weren't left disappointed as the staff were so helpful, the food was excellent and so much of it. We would certainly recommend this venue for a celebration.

Nice pub in a good location. However the day we visited it was very cold outside and with the doors open it was bloody cold inside too. Don't go without a coat!!

Alex our waiter was lovely. Polite and attentive. Food was excellent and starters a good size. Vegetables were cooked to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in a friendly environment with super service.

The food was absolutely delicious and our waitress Hannah was fantastic. Starters were great, excellent portion sizes and very tasty. My only suggestion would be to close the doors or put the heating on for a little bit, as it was a little chilly! Love this pub though and will definitely be back, I love bringing people here as the food is always excellent. Thank you all.

Saturday 13th April 2024 was a birthday meal with my wife and parents. The meal was excellent. I had the margherita pizza, wife having vegan curry, mom having the fish cakes and dad having gammon, egg and chips. Food was delicious which we all enjoyed. The gorgeous Ellie who waited on us was fantastic going out of her way to make the time at the Red Lion special. So big thank you Ellie and other members of the Red Lion.

We've been going to the Red Lion for years, it's a lovely pub, great food and great service. The only negative now is they have stopped selling tonic water in bottles, gun tonic only and its not very nice. As a gin drinker, you need good quality tonic.

We were there for a family celebration of my Mom's 80th birthday and Dan, the landlord, was fantastic. He made us really welcome, was very attentive and made the birthday girl feel very special. The food was delicious and the service from all the staff was great. We loved it

Comfortable atmosphere and great food. Unfortunately there was a delay in being able to order food. 30mins. Told two chefs were off and the Kitchen staff had told the bar staff not to take any orders.

Popped in this Friday for a set menu for two and tbh we should have gone somewhere else. Anywhere else. We’ll start with ordering, at 7:15 on a Friday already two items on the menu for mains are out of stock. This limits the set menu somewhat and pushes you to the mains that have a supplement so that’s a budgeted night out going down the pan already. Vegetarian curry, just don’t, What was advertised as a vegetarian curry with pak-Choi was essentially an orangey sauce with a lot of beans, and a ball of rock-hard rice. This was sent back, re-cooked but returned without the rice as well ‘that’s how it comes’ so from that we can deduce one of two things. The Red Lion can’t cook rice, or it comes pre-cooked and rammed in to shape and re-heated in the microwave. Seabream with mash passable, the seabream itself was excellent. The mash, how do you make mash badly? How do you make it become paste? Even I can make mash and I am rubbish in the kitchen. Mini deserts and coffee, expected these to come together, nope. Coffee, then crème brûlée 15 mins later. The teaspoon, thrown down as the member of staff rushed past on the way to their next task. And what with the biscuits? Stale, powdery, not cooked that day. My kids make better biscuits. We’ve eaten at the Red Lion a few times and it’s been really good, this time it felt like everything was an effort, thrown together. Set menu or not, the same care and attention should be shown to every meal, for every diner. If you’re part of a chain this should be almost impossible to get wrong as everything is set-out as a process, unless you don’t actually care. Go to the Fleur de Lis, The Boot, The Boat, or The Malt Shovel. Spend the same amount of money, and be guaranteed good service and great food.

Visited here as a consequence of the chain offering Valentine’s menu over the course of the week, which was very welcomed. It was out first visit in many years and we were pleased with the overall experience. For a mid-week lunch service, the pub was near full and clearly thriving. Dan, our server, was exceptional and a credit to the profession. The food itself was more of a mixed bag. It arrived hot and promptly but was of mixed quality. For example, the bread served with the Camembert appeared to be just toasted from a regular white loaf. The trio of desserts to share included brownies that were basically warm sponges and millionaire’s cake that tasted like sickly sludge. The mains had clearly been under the plate, meaning the already sad looking side salad was hot, wilted and inedible. It all felt like the chain had skimped on quality to justify the price tag. Despite this, the schnitzel was pleasant and the chips delicious. We were curiously charged for a starter on top of the fixed price for three courses.m. When this was challenged, most of the price was taken off but for some reason all of it couldn’t. The only justification that was offered was because the steak had a surcharge. Curious as the starter added was charged at £8, whereas the starter we had would have been £13.50 and the steak surcharge should have been £4. That aside, it was overall an enjoyable and leisurely meal out.

Table booked for 1pm, the food order wasn’t taken until 1.30 and it didn’t arrive until after 2! When it did arrive there was quite some time between us all getting it, my dad had nearly finished his by the time mine arrived. I had fish cakes, which were hot, but the potatoes and greens were Luke warm and looked as if they’d been sat under a warmer for a while, other meals looked similar. My son’s pizza looked liked it had been cooked on a tray with burnt food left as the base was blackened. The people on the table next to us got fed up of waiting and went somewhere else. The waitress (Elizabeth) was more interested in her friend, who had brought her baby in and her friend was in fact served much quicker than us. Also when she was supposed to be clearing our table she was holding the baby and was heard to say, “they can wait”. We felt there was a definite hint of sarcasm from her rather than banter. I had a voucher but was told it needed 24hrs to activate! Elizabeth told us we could use it next time!!! We have eaten here many times before but will not be coming again

Dogs need to be under the tables or in a separate area with all the other couples with dogs. The food and service was excellent

Have visited a couple of times. Food is always amassing! And that’s the reason we always come back. I find the place a bit cold though. We were seated in a glass room last time and ended up wearing our winter coats indoors. We should try to visit on a hot summer day sometime.

We absolutely love The Red Lion! After a walk around earlswood lakes with our little dog, the red lion is a beautiful place to relax and unwind with family. The exterior and interior is gorgeous, and every meal we have had has been beautiful. The staff are extremely kind and friendly, especially Dan who always makes us laugh and goes above and beyond to make every visit great. We love how we can bring our little dog along too! Thank you!

We go at least monthly, the manager is excellent and always makes us feel welcome. He’s always busy helping customers not just orchestrating staff. The young lady who served us was lovely. Food is great value . We stopped going under the old management because it was awful. You could replenish the dog treats and the water dispenser is broken.
