From the moment we arrived it was clear we weren’t welcome but we wanted to finish our drinks before moving on. What happened next was utterly shocking. A staff member made a completely unfounded accusation of racism to someone in our group and aggressively told us all to leave. If you don’t want us in the pub politely ask us to leave, you cannot falsely accuse someone of racism, utterly appalling behaviour and treatment. To then tell other people and leave us subject to abuse from them is a very dangerous game. I am in genuine disbelief that someone thinks it’s okay to falsely accuse someone of racism. Appalling actions from an awful human being.

Landlord was out of order I apologised for my friend saying something but kept saying he was the owner! Didn’t like that wasn’t fazed but turned my night into a different animal.

Great local pub with lovely selection of drinks and pies. Bar staff are always a good laugh whether it's busy or quiet.

Bit disappointed as I came with my friend after work to have a couple drinks but got greeted by attitude. It was almost as if it was a crime for them to do their job. No good manners whatsoever, couldn’t even crack a smile and could just tell they were rushing us out. Maybe I’ll try again another time when they hire decent friendly staff.

I went to the D&P on Sunday lunchtime. Covid restrictions meant I had to order a meal. It was a limited range of pies. But the quality was anything but limited they were delicious. I had the mothership steak pie mash mushy peas and cheese topped with crispy shallots accompanied by a full gravy boat which was really great. My daughter had free range chicken ham and leek delicious. Table service was efficient friendly great Covid-19 precautions. We got to watch the football on sky a few beers and excellent comfort food and good safe service.

Frustratingly I moved out of Didsbury in 2005, and, after turning 18 recently (on March 20th, of all the days I could have turned 18 this year...), was keen to go back to what was once my parents' - and mine, though I was only 3 - local. Even 23 years after my dad first discovered it, and being taken over by Greene King, who don't like to serve ales beyond their own, normally, the pub still serves Timothy Taylor's 'Landlord' pale ale. And it was one of the best I have had in maybe 30 pubs that serve it since July 4th. The service was very good, too.

I visited the Dog and Partridge once the government allowed. There were excellent Covid-19 precautions in place. Tables were well spaced and clear plastic curtains also used. There was table service provided. Altough a less than usual experience it was still good to enough. Staff were very aware of what to do and gave us a sense of safety. There were hand sanitisers available and social distancing markers. Felt quite relaxed here and will frequent this pub as I feel it is applying good practice.

Didsbury is a wonderful place to live, with lots of choice in terms of bars and pubs. However the Dog and Partridge really stands out. The staff are both friendly and professional and you can generally have a good laugh with them. I’ve tried many pubs, in search of a local and although this isn’t my nearest it’s the one that’s won me over with their friendly and professional attitude. The pub has a good selection of beers, wine and spirits (a wide selection of gin!). The highlight really is the cheese night on Wednesdays though. A lovely spread of complimentary cheese, olives and bread.

The staff are friendly enough, have been lovely over the years, but it seems the new owner is not up to customer service nor hygiene. Didsbury has many friendly bars and pubs and I would recommend trying any of the others instead.

Almost 12 months since my first review. There have been some changes since my first visit since the refurbishment. Several changes to staff and the format and not all good I'm afraid. The move away from semi table service (Which was really nice touch) was probably inevitable along with dropping the light snacks. Now we are back to more traditional bags of crisps etc which personally i prefer. The promise of wider range or change to the draft lagers didn't materialise. Even had Praha on the menu briefly without ever actually having it available. The Moretti is still expensive albeit same price as last year I think. Biggest change and most important in my view has been the attitude of staff. Gone are the genuinely friendly people from 12 months ago. Now we have surly young girl who whilst professional is not particularly friendly. Youngsters who spend more time talking to each other rather than looking after the customers and on one occasion discussing openly how much better the Metropolitan is. Not good and not a fair comparison. The little touches now gone like placing paper coasters on the bar before serving the drinks were small but significant. Along with the apparent random opening hours, closed Monday? Late opening Saturdays? Wednesdays? Either the staff are just late getting to work or feels planned it feels like a pub that is in trouble. So much so it has been discussed with my friends with similar angst who visit in the same way. I really hope not and I hope it can recapture the vibe that I felt this time last year. Regular passing trade (me) is confused. That said it's still my favourite but now only just.

The three things you want in a pub... they got it. Very good happy hour deals mid-week. Also the handwriting on the signs is very nice.

I've never had an issue with this pub (sometimes it has a certain pub smell but you get past it after a pint). Staff are always friendly, good selection of drinks (beers, gins I've always had a good choice). They have scampi fires behind the bar which is always tasty with a pint! Few board games round the back which can be a good laugh when your out for a quiet one. This was usually my go to when the footy was on but lately I just drop by for a cheeky pint if I'm not out on a mad one.

Having visited the dog & partridge for the second time in less than a month I wanted to give them a chance to undo the damage done on our first visit. However the same member of staff was equally as rude and unhelpful this time as he was the last! Working in the hospitality industry I can understand the frustration of people asking lots of questions about products and services... but when we asked Cass A gray haired older member of staff to recommend a whiskey he was rude and aggressive! Later on when I revisited the bar I tried to order a bottle of wine, to which I was barked ‘we’re closing so you don’t have to time to drink a bottle’ at roughly 10:30pm I felt mistreated and uncomfortable... I ended up ordering a 500ml carafe and leaving asap due to his ride manor! The atmosphere was nice and other staff were Friendly, unfortunately this member of staff ruined our night and made sure we never visit again! In my opinion he shouldn’t be allowed near customers and should be released of his duties as he clearly isn’t t cut out for the job!

Our first visit since its refurb we were pleased to see it had not been ruined. There are 3 real ales on offer including a nice one from Mobberley Brewery. There is now waiter service as well as at the bar and this is helpful when it gets busy. There used to be barrel with free monkey nuts but this has disappeared. However if you ask the waiter they will bring a dish of free monkey nuts to your table with your drinks. Cocktails and various gins are now more prominent on the menu for those that like them.
