Food not great, probably the worst spoons tbh for food but good service and drinks nontheless

It was a busy Sunday and the pub was full and the regulars were brilliant and so friendly unfortunately the same can't be said for some of the staff who seemed to cave under the busy period and decided to take their frustration out on paying customers. Slamming down drinks and stamping feet with rudeness made us feel unwelcome so we left to find another pub.

After tonight diserves a 2**, The acting manager called an 11:15pm fire Alarm Test. " this was to empty the establishment instead" Fire Alarm checks are apprently done once a week... Not 6 Months. The manager needs more training

They have a super range of beer different lagers and traditional beers. They also have a good selection of gins and rum. Being a witherspoons pub the prices are very reasonable There is a good set selections of meals and sandwiches along with the daily deals again with very reasonable prices There is also a good seating area outside both terraced and under cover

Such a great place I love it. If I was a pissing kid. What’s with the baby portions.

Absolutely manky the place looks like it's not been cleaned in months food all over floor and tables staff rude and miserable not the place to go at all !!

The young lady was absolutely brilliant as we went in there she was sweeping cleaning and so nice and helpful yet the lady with the black flowery blouse wasn’t so nice like when was asked for anything bit of eye roll 🙄 going on also the food wasn’t good at all lucky if you got 5 chips on your meal asked for medium rare steaks 3 of us only one was the medium rare the rest well done rotten wrapped in a tissue and kept for the dog the nachos were stale 🤢 would I recommend here not if your with a big party of people like 7 of us no definitely not maybe two at ago and also bar was sooo understaffed poor two girls trying there hardest

Terrible service. Waited over half an hour for a breakfast, eggs benedict, Had 2 coffees before I could have the food. The eggs were over cooked

It's a lovely sunny day so might take a little longer to get served, the staff are on the case though.

Sadly, I just had the worst ever Spoons breakfast at the Gateway. Compared to other Spoons I have eaten at, this place was definitely below the standard I've come to expect from them. The food was luke warm and the eggs had obviously been sat under a heat lamp for a while. We were staying at the Travelodge nearby. I know the area well and regret not walking into Didsbury village where there are lots of nice cafes for breakfast.

Can’t beat Wetherspoons for value. That’s why they are anyways packed out.

Always very busy, always pleasant staff and great service. Love the flavoured vodkas and gins. The BBQ chicken PIZZA is delicious

Wetherspoons is not everyone's cup of tea but for a cheap pint and food with speedy service, you can't knock it.

We were staying locally before an early morning flight from Manchester Airport. Sat outside for a while but it is located at the junction of main roads, so rather noisy. Had a good steak meal. Excellent service and excellent value.

Yes it is known for value drinks and cheap meals but this is no excuse for dirty tables, glasses and plates left for a long time after customers have left. They need to improve customer service and clean tables faster to make us want to eat and drink here.

The normal experience. Ordered my usual chicken bites which are better than anywhere else. Staff friendly and it was quiet and tidy. ,

Went in at dinner for a birthday treat .....the food was dreadful ,I complained but the guy wasn't interested ....will not be returning so disappointed 😞 a waste of money and time 😩

Great place for affordable drinks.

We stopped to day for a meal and had our 12 week old puppy. We were sitting outside and after they brought our drinks advised us no dogs and asked us to leave. No offer to refund money for spent on drinks No signs say dogs not allowed. What is funny is when I was there a few weeks ago there were 6 dogs sitting outside none told to leave.

The ale in this pub used to be good now it's not. None of the staff have a clue and keep asking the customers who's next. It's not the customers job to know - it's your job.

Food was absolutely sensational!

Even by wetherspoons low standards this place is awful, a handful of people in when the bar staff finally appeared he spent 2-3 minutes playing with the till then started serving someone who'd just turned up, ignoring those waiting, maybe if you fail the interview they offer you a job here.

Typical JD Wetherspoons. Good selection of real ales, world beers and lagers. Good pub grub, all at reasonable prices.

Average wetherspoons, even though busy prompt food and drink to table service, and clean

Went for an "evening bite" early doors and ordered chicken with chips and a side salad . Service was prompt but wow they gave me half a dozen chips which weren't even well cooked. I ordered a side salad for £2.99 and got half a tomato 2 slices of cucumber and a dozen lettuce leaves... OUTRAGEOUS I know prices have gone up but six chips isn't even half a potato 😒 😐 😑 😕 😩

Popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Wasn't too busy. Food was OK but it's never hot enough probably because they serve it on cold plates. Despite that food was cooked well and we enjoyed it. Love the hot drink refill. A nice visit.

Good food, great beers, excellent prices!

Have been here several times now, food is usually decent but the waiting times can be a bit 'hit & miss'. Last time we visited it took nearly an hour for the breakfast food to arrive and when it did most of the food was lukewarm. Probably won't go back for breakfast or lunch, but would maybe visit again for an evening meal if we were passing and not in any sort of rush ;)

I tried this place for first time, and I did expect the breakfast service to be fast as in other chain restaurants. I order a Full English Breakfast with some adds on. I HAVE TO WAIT 35 MIN for breakfast, was the longest waiting time for this kind of service. On top of that wasn't complete and the cutlery came greasy. The mug for coffee was dirty. There are small details where staff should look and provide a decent service. Very disappointed. There are some good points, parking spots for customers.

Overzealous manager , which seems to be the theme at weatherspoons. Is this a lack of in house training? I felt discriminated by the female manager as soon as I challenged her , I purchased an alcoholic beverage for my 17yo son to accompany his meal, as I understand the government guidelines suggests there is nothing untoward. As soon as I had read your policy your manager begrudgingly gave me access to I decided to drink the drink myself and had no bad feelings towards the young lady. But... narrsasitic comes to mind from her reaction after been challenged, clearly feels she was better than me and my family, I felt so upset the way she b-lined to me when I returned to the bar for another drink, shouting at me that she wasn't serving a member of my party, my reaction "please don't tell me, tell the person himself, who is an adult. I genuinely feel this young lady would benefit from some extra training, or maybe even some training , maybe she has had a lot of responsibility put upon her and is unable to deal with minor situations in the correct manner. As always the food was top drawer, the waiter very plesent , please help this young manager to correctly fill her position. Thanks

A classic 'Spoons, you get exactly what you expect. Drinks are cheap, seating both inside and outside, food is standard and easy to order from the app straight to your table.

This place has sunk down to a new level. The food was served cold on 3 out of four meals, there was a mix up with 3 meals including items missing, when we enquired they never once apologised and just slung the items down on the table. Mr Wetherspoon has cut the food menu and the tiny burgers are a joke, the prices rocketed and the quality is worse than Iceland. The waiters were running around like the three stooges yet it wasn't even busy. I won't be spending money in here again.

Does what it says on the tin. Chicken wings and chips decent Throw away IPA. Fast efficient service.

cheapest booze and the best service through the spoons app. Came back after 2 years still good, nothings changed.

A good Weatherspoons pub, good value for money

Were there with colleagues on a steak night, so ordered 8 all together. My steak was ok but some other dishes looked over cooked. Nice drinks came with the meals, great value. Bar very busy.

Not good if you can't use the app to order your food and drinks. Waited at the bar for ages to be served.

Not happy with the pasta Alfredo More like a child's portion. Not worth what I paid for it. It's not expensive food, 😞 step up the portions.

Never going in again food cold over cooked compared to one of the staff went to speak to the chief that came on work at 4 oc came back to us and said some of the equipment was not working by this time it was 6oc so I said he should have checked it when he started work and I said the chief should make sure all food going out should be hot not cold Never going back

Asked for a steak a rare as possible don't understand why you can't have it blu. Apparently someone got I'll from having it blu. Given the fact you can have steak tta which is raw meat I don't see what the problem is. No dressing came out with salad had to ask for waitress rude plonked food on table and said there you go. Overcooked steak, bad customer service and why can't you do a checkback. Wasn't even busy

Went mid afternoon weekday and although it was somewhat busy the service was very fast. Food order via the app of children's pizza and main katsu curry arrived in around 10-15 minutes. Food was hot, well proportioned and as described. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was nice. Would Return. Only improvement would be more curry sauce on the main meal.

Busy and nice atmosphere but food is sub par although quite cheap. Drinks also very cheap. So overall price is good but I would not have high expectations for the food here.

Great place for food and drink.

Once again we visited the Gateway Didsbury to find that no pizzas or garlic bread available this time the oven was broken could not do brunch. We only visit the Gateway at half term with our grandchildren and this always the case whether lunch or dinner. Why can not amend their menus when items seem to be permanently not available. We will be definitely not visiting here again.

Tables were dirty, whilst staff stood around. Food was tepid. Not the best weatherspoons I've been in.

Went to the pub in rush hour. Had to wait some time to get the table cleaned up. Tried some sides with good beer. The food was good as well as beverages.

Don't bother! I went in with friends tonight to do the crossword and was barred by bouncers for something that was said 18 months ago! Staff have no problem but one bouncer has a chip on his shoulder.Freedom of speech does not exist in this pub because if you give your opinion you will be barred. (Once because we asked them not to lock the fire doors 2 months after manchester arena bombing) Pathetic as we drink in wetherspoons every week with no issues except for this pub.

It's a Wetherspoons, so you know what you are getting. Solid pub, nice and busy and really cheap beer.

Food 5 star 100% came out hot texture was delicious and the drinks got me pissed so that’s a plus love the gateway just need some music and a dance floor but can’t becos of residents

Good choice of cask beers,and quick service pleasant staff and suroudings

This was a fantastic pub to go drinking at, with a stylishly presented counter! The decorations are pretty and have a historic vibe, staff were friendly and seating is comfortable. I had a refreshing pint of Stella Artois followed by a quality Despardos, cleanliness had been maintained too!

Food good value for money. But decor is in need of a facelift/freshen up.

Wetherspoon serves a variety of tasty dishes, including pizza, an all-day breakfast, pasta, fish and chips, and even Indian cuisine. They have many branches all across the UK, each with unique and interesting interior designs. The best part is that the prices for their food and drinks are reasonable, and the food is really delicious 😝. Why did we order two pizzas? Well, that's because we made a little ordering mistake 😱😝. Real surprised at the food and buzz in the place

Two visits this week. Truly excellent steak on Tuesday, plus a real treat of Abbot Special Reserve on tap, albeit for a few pence more, but well worth it. Prices up slightly, however still by far the best value in Didsbury. Award winning licensee changed after ten years, but still very good. Latest visit marred slightly by an extended and dysfunctional family with behavioraly challenged and very noisy young children running around the pub until nearly 9pm (8pm curfew).

Excellent pub, would highly recommend.

Meal not as described and cold burger

I went for coffee at breakfast time. I don't recall going to this branch of 'Spoons before, fairly sure I haven't. The staff were pleasant. It was fairly early in the morning, so I wasn't expecting much of an atmosphere. Unusually, I wasn't really up for looking at the wall prints that usually tell the history of the pub and the locality. Breakfast was the traditional breakfast. It was ok.

Quick and efficient and great food as always with Weatherspoon's

Pub is almost always untidy, with tables left uncleared and stacks of empties at the bar. Too few staff, and those there never in a hurry to serve. This has been an ongoing situation for a long time.

I had fish and chips service was fast and friendly.....easy for the disabled to move around and disabled toilet available.i really like the refills of tea and coffee ... so much better than other places that give you 1 teabag in a tiny teapot 🫖

Since a change in management this place has taken a nosedive. I’ve been to eat 3 times and been disappointed every time & this is why… - breakfast; we were told they had run out of sausage. There are several supermarkets selling sausages nearby, could they not send staff out to get some and when I suggested this the staff just laughed at me but did add an extra rasher. It came with a thimble size portion of beans and one very soggy mushroom. Very poor ! Afternoon - ordered meal and told “no chips as fryer broken” Evening - ordered chicken burger and it tasted disgusting like disinfectant, staff not that interested in a refund & reluctantly replaced the burger I know it’s cheap booze that will always attract pub goers but in future I would avoid the food
