Overpriced food and be careful as will overcharge at the till - when challenged regarding price on board will just argue. Paid but food was hard and bland, most went in the bin. 3 staff members running chip shop, pub next door and ice cream shop on other side - not enough to enable good service. Avoid at all costs!

I went here yesterday. A young lad kept taking orders but not passing on the orders to anyone so how he remembered everyone’s I don’t know. I ordered 2 large chips,I waited 20 minutes after I ordered my chips. People were coming in after me and getting served which wasn’t fair. I then told his colleague that I have been waiting 20 minutes. When I got my two portions of chips they were disgusting! Black chips we threw away. They were hard and a horrible taste! The worst chips I’ve ever had in my life. How it was 8 pounds for two large chips which were a standard size and they were awful. So disappointed as I was so hungry and looking forward to it. Please don’t eat in here you will be disappointed!

The assistant who served us was very helpful, efficient and friendly in taking our order and gave an extra plate and cutlery as we were sharing. The table could have been cleaner and had residue of salt on the table. The glasses were clean and the drinks cold. What let the place down was the food, cold or luke warm food is just not very nice, the only thing hot in any way on the large breakfast was the hashbrowns. Eggs were far too yellow for my liking. Sausage was very processed and the bacon though clear of the white scum you get on processed bacon had a thick edge of fat. Wouldn't go running back to this place and the friendly presentable assistant saved them from a worse score

Lovely food, Lovely outdoor space, Near the beach, i go often with family or friends and it’s lovely to say the least. Staff are friendly, Good for a quick bite or breakfast.

This is usually our "go to restaurant" if we are in Dawlish shopping. It was school Easter break so busier than usual. .My husband had a burger and I had sausage egg and chips. Food delivered and was really disappointed with portion of chips. My husband counted 10 on his plate. Took a while to get attention of waiter. I asked if they did child's portions? And asked if I had ordered one. He bought out a few more chips, but still meagre. Bearing in mind it's no longer cheap to eat in a fish and chip shop, please we expect a decent portion. This has put us off going again. I am sorry it's a bad review, I am always happier to place a good one.

Friendly hard working staff work really well under pressure the chips are nice not greesy and a good portion size at good prices.

The worst chips I’ve ever tasted! They went in the bin £4 for a large chips to share between 3 of us, I have no idea what they did to them. All shapes and colours. Hard . Certainly not a good advert for Dawlish. Never again. Would rate 0 if I could.

Friendly staff and efficient service. You placed order at one of the bars, explained where your table is and collected drinks. Food arrived and was hot and tasty. Plenty of dog bowls for our Westie and large canopy. Went three times during our weeks holiday and warm welcome each time.

Called in on busy Bank Holiday Monday whilst having nice day in Dawlish. Surprisingly no other chippies open so used this one. Very busy and warm and had a bit of a wait unsurprisingly. Staff kept us up to date with the order and were generally pleasant. Most of our order was done fresh. Took our food onto the nearby beach and have to say we were very impressed and all 4 of us really enjoyed it. Slightly pricy but not significantly more than anywhere else these days.

Been here before as I am a local and no problem but revisited yesterday and I’ve been up all night being sick along with my 4 year old. I would avoid like the plague. Was handed a tray with two bottles of sauces on and two glasses. Sat down and a foul odour kept wafting over. We then realised it was the tray, glasses and sauce bottles. They smelt like they had been left in a fridge with gone off food. We moved it all away from our table and were still getting wafts of the rancid smell. Received our food fairly quickly, however I had to ask for part of the order they forgot to bring out. Bread rolls with butter in had this same foul odour on them so needless to say, they got left too. My son had baked beans which looked like they had been nuked in the microwave 20+ times. The seating was filthy. My 4 year old daughter then needed the toilet. As soon as we entered the toilet we were hit with the strong smell of stale urine. The toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for about two years, the toilet brush was sat floating in a filthy looking black liquid. The soap dispenser hanging off the wall covered in dirt. I truly felt disgusting after our visit and will never return. If you like being up all night with your head down the loo then this is the place for you!! £40 not well spent!! Sort it out. I will be reporting to food standards agency!

Abosolutly awful the men in there were just watching the football and forgot about our order! Chips were greasy and horrible also staff pretended to cough to get out of doing their work I am appalled So would not recommend unless you want to be treated horribly

A family member suggested we visit for dinner but we were unsure after reading some of the awful reviews. However, I’m really glad we ignored them! Yes it’s a basic restaurant (it’s a chippy restaurant after all!) but it was clean and the staff were friendly and polite and there was ketchup on every table. The food did take a little while to come but when it arrived it was clear it had been cooked fresh. It was definitely worth the wait!! The chips especially were absolutely delicious and the fish was super tasty too. It definitely wasn’t too greasy as some other reviews suggest. We will definitely be returning next time we visit Dawlish. Would highly recommend!

Worst chipshop I haver ever visited looked like chips came straight out of oil into box extremely greasy. All of my family didn't eat food spent £37.10p on four meals and had to return all. I got my refund but staff extremely rude please don't go there read all the reviews on TripAdvisor and Google

If Carling made the worst fush and chips these would be them , greasy batter was lie biting through cement , a real tooth breaker , fish in inside was goey ,chips were awful ......felt sick that night after them !

Came to this business for the past two years when we've been on holiday to dawlish and never had a problem until today. The staff & food are usually amazing, but today I was served by a young man in a yellow shirt who got my order wrong and when I questioned it was extremely rude then blamed me! Our order was for three fish & chips, one sausage & chips, three drinks and a small pot of mushy peas and cost £45.85. Normally the price wouldn't be an issue but for the quality of the food and the poor service we most definitely won't be visiting again! Maybe the owner will look into giving his younger members of staff some training into customer service as it's very much needed.

We had an excellent family lunch. All our food was freshly cooked, and very tasty (fish, sausages, scampi, chicken burger). The place was spotlessly clean - including the toilets - and the staff were efficient and friendly. Will be back next time.

This is possibly the worst experience I have had in a food establishment ever. We entered and were told to take a seat and the waiter would be over shortly to take our order. We saw another family enter and take their seats. After 10 mins, the waiter went and took their order despite us being first. That table were then served their drinks and we were still waiting after 30 mins we decided to leave. Not acceptable and will be featured on a new website that publicises this kind of behaviour towards non-whites.

Although we arrived in Dawlish Sunday afternoon in need of something to eat it the choices was slightly restricted on the time of our arrival so after debating we thought go on then Sea Breeze ...seems popular but im unsure what the other punters thought.Its pricey for what we got ... fish if i remember was cod the chips was soggy oily so this didn't go down well.Overhaul id say give it a miss ... although we do come from Yorkshire the land where fish and chips are renowned ....

Ate here Friday 18th September. Track and Trace and Sanitiser at the door. Good Choice for breakfast and good value. Bit of a wait but no problem. Also had a coffee here on Friday 11th Sept. All very good and staff friendly.

The only thing good here was the social distancing because it was dead.Despite only 2 in the queue and 3 staff behind the counter the food took 20 mins to arrive, after waiting 10 mins to take the order even though we were front of queue.When it arrived we were then given one piece of fish that had been sat for 30 mins and one fresh piece that was extremely over cooked.The chips had clearly been refried and tasted of old oil. Truly awful. We both left our chips uneaten.The fish was dripping oil because I can only assume wasn’t up to temp , avoid this place at all costs. At 795 a portion. It’s over priced and should be avoided at all costs. We had little choice as was only place left open at 4pm. A mistake we won’t make again

Can’t understand the negative reviews , visited earlier in the year back in January and again in September , both times the staff have been polite , cheerful and the food has been hot , tasty and excellent value for money. In particular our visit this evening the young girl serving was busy but was very courteous and felt welcome. Highly recommended

Terrible. Unprofessional attitude from the staff who seem more interested in talking to themselves than serving you. Fish and chips all dry and frozen fish ( well it tasted like it ) dry and disgusting. Never again for us. We found Franks frying in Dawlish up the road the next time we had dinner. And wow knocks spots of this place. Keep walking past here and 300+ yds on hill. Now that’s proper fish and chips

James and his team are exceptionally professional and are constantly anti baccing all the chairs and tables. It’s the customers that cause the problems, alcohol and spacial distancing don’t mix. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and good quality, as a family we are happy to frequent the Lounge Bar and Sea Breeze restaurant as it’s a lovely spot to watch the world go by!!!!Well done James and your hardworking team.Alex and Claire

Very busy in Dawlish and we were lucky to get a table. Excellent cod and chips and scampi and chips. Great service. Highly recommended.

The only real difference from my last visit is the pandemic ruling but other than that we had another superb meal. We chose the small fish & chips with mushy peas & curry sauce(ideal for those of you with smaller appetites), washed down with strawberry milk shake. As ever the staff were polite and helpful. Social distancing inside is no problem especially at the time of day we went(later afternoon). My wife went and ordered and was asked to do track & trace in as much she gave details of which postcode area we were from plus a contact 'phone number. The food turned up beautifully presented.

Went here last night for a quick bite to eat after work, was very disappointed after reading there good reviews, fish was frozen and tasteless the chips were hard and again tasteless and then"jumbo" sausage was horrendous! Won't be giving them a second chance and a very very bad first experience!

I like this place because they will offer salad instead of chips, grill fish instead of deep frying. Today I had deep fried cod with a salad. It was the thickest, chunkiest cod I have ever had in a chippy. I am a diabetic, next time I will ask for grilled fish and salad. You do have to wait a little while but it shows how fresh and 'just cooked' it is. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Toilets in restaurant, you can sit outside or inside. Staff great.

I always have liked the food from here but after tonight I will not return it was one man working I found him to be very rude and lacks customer service and puts way to much salt on the food hope this issue someday will change but maybe not I work in the fish and chip world and I say that ladram Bay award winning member of the national fish fryers guild the far better food for the money and better veiws

Rather than my wife cook something we opted to come here, the weather was being kind so it made good sense to venture out !! We ordered Haddock and chips, I opted for Baked Beans while my wife had Mushy Peas and we both had the Tartare Sauce, this was washed down with a Hot Chocolate. As it was cooked to order, we had to wait a little while but it was well worth it. The Haddock filled one half the plate, the chips were superb. The only thing I always say is that the fish does come with skin on it but you can easily remove the fish from it. Yet again, a fabulous meal, no complaints whatsoever.

We visited Dawlish as kids wanted to go amusements, you can't leave a seaside town without buying chips. We ordered 2 x small portions and 3 large portions, the price was reasonable and we got decent sized portions of chips. I found the chips to be dry despite having salt and vinegar on, however all 5 portions of chips had been consumed so couldn't of been that bad.

Stopped off for a quick snack on the way to Exeter. Food was okay (rock, chips and mushy peas), but like others have said here, not the best. But the staff were very helpful when I asked about the temporary exhibition of yarndling stools, which I couldn't find. They said to go about half a mile down the road and it was in the basement of the library/community hall. Not very well signposted! Anyway, worth the trip as they had a lovely selection of emblazoned chorns and several knappers and scrimming reels, along with some beautiful wooden tarifolds. A real treat.

Went to Seabreeze as they are the only ones open on a Sunday, have to say £2.95 for a large chips which was the same size of Rock and Soul regular chips prized at £2 was bad enough but got them home and they were hard as they had probably been left in the hot part of the fryer as I had been the only customer. Will be looking at always having something which doesn't include chips on Sundays, very poor for a resort chippie

Ordered 1 small chips and 1 normal size chips & 2 pots curry sauce for takeaway, came to 5p short of £8 - we thought this was very expensive, especially as the curry sauce was so think & gloopy and the chips full of overcooked rock hard bits. There's got be somewhere better than this...

My partner and I had fish and chips from here today. The batter on the fish was very greasy and hard, the chips were all hard. We only had two forkfuls and two chips and left our meals and walked out. We paid a lot of money for these meals and there was no taste in the batter.

We found ourselves in Dawlish yesterday afternoon walking along the beach & in through the shops & found ourselves popping in to this take away chippy & we were not disappointed, in fact we were extremely impressed. The fryer was in the middle of cooking a fresh lot of chips, which we paid £2 for a small carton (cardboard) which we took and enjoyed every mouthful. Keep up the good work. P.s open every day of the week except Christmas Day!!

I know this is just going over old ground and saying the same things as many other people on TripAdvisor have said, but this place absolutely beggars belief. About six members of staff behind the counter just chatting away to each other and laughing among themselves. I asked for a simple bag of chips and a Coke - good job the Coke was in a tin, because I'm sure they'd have found a way to muck that up as well, given the chance. The chips were more like eating lukewarm ready salted crisps. The restaurant area next door looked absolutely filthy, with dropped food all over the floor and tabletops still bearing the residue of previous diners. It creates a very bad impression of a resort that is already going downhill fast.

Really enjoyed the chips and curry sauce here. Perfect seaside experience. Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.

As we were visiting the seaside, it was only right that we should have fish and chips. my partner and I opted for cod and chips, which came with mushy peas as part of the meal (not an extra). The fish was a decent size, the chips were lovely and for a reasonable price. Well recommended.

Visited here this afternoon. Well i have to say the meal was absolutely disgusting. My husbands meal was stone cold. I could not eat the chips as they were rock hard and black. Now some say we should have taken it back. But after waiting for the meal. Mine came out the wrong order. We then had to wait to be given cutlery. The floor were covered in dropped food. And the only people working in the place were a bunch of kids working through the holidays. APALLING. Will not visit again. Lived in Devon for 15 yrs never experienced such a shoddy effort.

Excellent value for money. Plenty of choice and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again. Varied menu.

We came for an evening walk and decided to stop off at a local chippy and get a snack before walking back, I’m sorry to say the chips were horrible they had a funny taste and were quite greasy.

Tasteful plate of cod and chips and mix seafood platter, staff were very friendly. Prices were high but quality was on offer so you aren't disappointed. Will definitely be returning!

Normal cod portion is substantial. Properly cooked through. Batter was light and crispy. Chips were nice too. I only wish everywhere was as good as this.

Had ice cream here only. Apparently they do not have gluten free cones as the wet weather affects them. !! ( what a load of old rubbish. ) £2.10 for one tiny scoop of ice cream. Total rip off and miserable grubby looking staff. give it a miss.!

Ordered cod, chips and curry sauce with a lovely glass of rosé. Didn't have to wait long for a freshly cooked meal. Cod was delicious, beautiful white meat and batter not too heavy. Curry sauce was proper and the chips lightly fried not over done. Very friendly and welcoming staff who are happy to help with queries.

Having witnessed the refurbishments going on during Winter it was pleasing to actually go and see the finished job close up. We went in the restaurant area and ordered Fish, Chips, Mushy Peas and Tartare Sauce and when it was presented to us it was as good as we have had on previous visits. The member of staff was polite and efficient. Since my visit I have had Takeaway and that was equally good. Although the fish comes with the skin on you can always remove the fish from it whilst eating.

I’m not one to write reviews but I really had too,

Lash fish and chips but can't handle more than three orders at a time. You have to watch them make up three orders in front of your face before they even ask your order at the till. There is a chap asking if you're having fish but slightly confused why you wouldn't just put all the orders through the till before wondering off to sort others. Quite frustrating. You can see plenty of customers getting frustrated. Might be a case of new staff need the practice but for regular Dawlish visitor it's very off putting.

The whole family enjoyed the take away chips fresh and tasty the children had waffle cone ice creams too staff very pleasant but didn’t wash hands before handling cones

Inside and outside drinking and pub-grub at this lively café. When the sun shines -it is lovely to be outside and the atmosphere is a cross between typical English beach side and French Street Cafe. Great for people watching and tasty icecream too.

We visited Dawlish on a coach trip for the day and this was our drop off and collection point.

On a day out to Dawlish we had lunch at sea breeze. A large fish and chips for me, lovely fish and and well cooked chips. Mum had a small f&c; for smaller appetites, she said it was plenty. Partner had a sea breeze brunch. Very happy with food and service. Will go back another time.

Friendly staff, great customer service, very tasty food, recommend the bigger breakfast. A good selection of flavoured tea’s as well.
