I use Wetherspoons a lot. A void this one!!! This establishment always has issues with the menu. Something is always unavailable. Today all the muffins, wraps and fruit not available. No eggs. No everyday tea. Very poor. I had issues here before. Order off the app, money taken but no food arrived. Spoke to bar staff and was told it would eventually bounce back into my account, it never did. One staff member was extremely rude. Never got my money back.

Awful place. Disgusting food, long waits for drinks, sticky carpets, horrible atmosphere.

A lunch with family. I fully expected this pub to be full at lunch time and for a long wait for service, but their online App ordering service is excellent. Drink came quickly and very nice, tasty food also arrived in about fifteen minutes. I was blown away by the service. I had a mild Japanese curry with two extra bargees and a tasty crispy samosa. All good value too. I do recommend this place. The waitress was efficient and most amenable making sure we were happy. Thank you!

Met up with a few friends for a quick drink here. Good value and very lively. Stopped in here today for a coffee. Very good value got to be the best price in town and nice coffee as well. Popped in here this morning and had the small breakfast. It was not really small at all and was very good. Excellent value, quick service and well cooked. Coffee is still good with free refills. Breakfast in here is a very good deal. A good choice at very reasonable prices. A great selection of hot drinks, some breakfast deals include the drink, but if not currently only £1.71 and unlimited refill

Recently visited this Wetherspoons, and usually I don’t bother writing reviews, but I couldn’t possibly not in this case. I’ve never had such fast and caring service in a pub/restaurant in my life. The restaurant was clean and all tables were tended to the moment they became available again. We were greeted upon entry and received very kind service. I didn’t catch many names, but I did have a very pleasant chat with a worker called JJ who gave service with a smile and was incredibly friendly. The food was amazing and was presented beautifully. I will absolutely be returning again.

Pretty good for a cheap breakfast but always busy, suppose that's a good thing for business though!

All okay just always seems to have a bad WiFi/Internet service area so cannot use the app for ordering food making quiet a large queue at the bar.

Bar service was good, but automatically added ice to drinks when asked not to twice! Food arrived quickly, could have been a little hotter but very nice.

Always start the night here with a cheap pint and bite to eat. Check the specials board for some great bargains.

Loved the breakfasts we ordered, came out very quick despite it being quite busy. I also loved that my hot chocolate was refillable. Shame my husband and I couldn't utilise this as we only had time for one.

Quite quiet but visited on a Monday around 1pm .food and drinks came very quickly .asked by one of the staff if everything was OK.

Mixed grill and a pint for £12, can't fault it!

Popped in for some lunch and it was fairly busy in there. Ordered the 10oz gammon steak, egg and chips along with the inclusive bottle of Camden Hells lager. Food served in 10 minutes or so. Nice and hot and well presented. Plenty of it too. Great service from staff who kept tables clear. Never had an issue with Wetherspoon.

Awful..Full of people in scruffy tracksuits all with bawling babies and effing and blinding.Standard Newton I suppose.

Weatherspoons don't offer fine dining and we all know that, but what they offer is good, cheap and cheerful grub. Refillable hot drinks make 'Weathers' a great place to meet up or just take a load off while shopping. Warm and comfortable and the staff are usually friendly and obliging. Breakfasts are good and their chips are perfect. I am now addicted to Linghams garlic and chilli sauce after trying it on my chips! We have had many family get togethers in The Richard Hopkins making use of their space and even taking games to play.

Just popped in for a drink out of the rain.

An unbelievable place reportedly this is we're wetherspoons started the holly grail It was very busy and as you can see we sat in what was a green house for growing oranges,it was part of the imperial hotel in Exeter which was bought by Tim and turned into his first venture as wetherspoons

This is a typical J D Wetherspoons pub. Food prices appear standard across the group. Food is simple but filling and reasonably priced. A good selection of ales at cheaper prices than most local pubs.

I like the John Hopkins because it's the nearest weatherspoons to Totnes which is about 20 minutes by bus. The toilets are classic spoons style but they are upstairs so it's a slight thumbs down for me there as its harder to access. Varied food and drinks menus with classic pub grub and some more exotic dishes. It's got outdoor seating but I wouldn't class it as a garden more of a street view veranda. You can people watch and enjoy the new construction works that are nearly complete in widening the pedestrian walkway

We all know what Spoons is like, so no point in discussing menus. This hostelry is large, and does have limited outdoor seating frequented by smokers. The staff were obliging and efficient, despite being very busy. The premises were spotless, and the tables were promptly cleared and wiped clean. We ordered and paid for food and drink using the Wetherspoons App., and the meals were brought to our table, seemingly within seconds. The food was hot and palatable. We all know that prices are fair, if not cheap. No one admits to eating at Spoons, but the place was packed. Don't tell the PM.

Came in here yesterday for a quick breakfast... I had the breakfast wrap.. Was really nice... Very good.. Wrapped well and filled nicely... Will definitely return again and try something different...

Lots of food on the floor and menus not picked up, quite dangerous really.

Ordered two breakfasts, however, both were cold. Didn’t have time to ask for new ones so just ate them. Coffee was good. Good atmosphere and nice staff.

If you like the aesthetic and ambience of a P&O ferry bar, you'll simply love the Richard Hopkins. Usual wetherspoons stuff, but cheap drinks and a decent selection of beers is always a win for a quick pint or cuppa!

For food and drink at a low cost this is the place to Yh u get the odd table that's not been cleaned and a table that's not level but u can't complain much

No draught beer/Cider for 2 days

Poor service. Badly understaffed. Tables left uncleared. Long wait to order . Only one person serving. Could do with a deep clean.

As far as weatherspoons go it's pretty decent. Normally can find a table and speed of service is pretty 'ok'. Main reason only 4*s is that I always het given dirty glasses, which really takes the shine off your wetherspoons prosecco.... or they give you a wine glass instead of a flute 🤣 maybe I'm holding too high expectations froma spoons. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to come and wipe my glass down with a napkin 🤣

Went in years ago and only sat on a menu. Looked like a sunk ship dragged up state of the seats scummy grockle lover farmer pastys. Id not give it one burp let lone star. Keep out this naff chain that ain't cheap.

Whilst in Devon, i strolled into The Richard Hopkins in Newton Abbot for my lunch. My lunch was Wetherspoons delightful Cod and chips. This was washed down wiith a pint of Doombar. The service was good. The price was reasonable and I was well satisfied.

The lights are. To. Dim. Very poor. Lighting.

Clean good service. Could do with modernizing. The salad with my chicken chipotle wrap was the freshest I've ever had from spoon's. Nice cold carlsburg; as always great value.

The pub was in good condition and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was okay. The bun was hard on the burger. The staff took ot away and changed it without any issues. The nachos tasted stale. The pizza was lovely and the garlic bread was nice.

Have had better food in other spoons.. Y no dogs outside?. Sat in corner out way .. got drinks and ordered food ,got back to table where wife said been asked to leave.. Luckily a nice young girl was near and after speaking to her she said we was OK just to eat..which we did. Other customers wasn't impressed too IF IT WASNT FOR THAT MEMBER OF STAFF WOULD HAVE BEEN 1*

NO DOGS ALLOWED! not even on the veranda? I can take my dogs and eat at a 2* hotel. But not in a weatherspoons your having a laugh.

Good little Wetherspoons pub close to the main shopping area in Newton Abbot. Food is standard (usually very good). The place (like all Spoons) can get very busy. Today, there are only 2 coffee machines working, so there's big queues there, but if they are all in action it's quick to get your drinks. There are decent toilets upstairs in the pub, plenty of seating and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Always our port of call wherever we are ,never dissatisfied 👍

We have visited this Wetherspoons pub many times over the years, and you can't find fault with it no matter how yiu try? The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food and drink are well worth the money. When we are on holiday or just a long week away in Devon we stop at the Travelodge Torre. We then put our suit cases in the room, and get the bus just outside the hotel and off to Newton Abbot to the pub for a meal. Then a bit of shopping to stock up for munches (Poundland alnost next dooor), and get the bus back to the hotel sorted? I hope this review is of some help, and please,stay safe and take care. Went here this afternoon had the the fish and chips absolutely disgusting burnt to a crisp unedible, complained to the waitress was told that's how we always serve it, well they won't see us again the person who cooked it it should be ashamed but I suppose he could not give a damn, unless they sort their staff out it place is only going one way, and that's in the gutter

Cheap and cheerful! The last time we went, the place looked so clean; the tables were freshly sanitized and all of the menu cards were brand new. Lots of meal choices from a varied menu. We ordered, using the app., and the meals were hot - and brought promptly to our table. A lovely lady subsequently asked us if everything was in order. All meals are reasonably priced. There is a wide choice of alcoholic drinks, all of which are much cheaper than in other pubs.

Lovely Spoons which i assume has had a recent makeover. The 2 ladies serving behind the bar (short cropped hair, butch looking) the other middle aged had faces like the proverbial slapped a#se. Disappointed with the new 12 inch wrap, when it comes its about 5 inches, and the wife confirmed my measurement estimate. She should know. Great spoons but get the older staff members to be polite and smile occasionally.

Lovely atmosphere, very quick service for food and a drink. Very friendly staff and someone checked everything was ok during the meal. Nice atmosphere, clean and efficient for such a budget establishment. Good job guys 🙌

The dri is are a super price and as pensioners in our 70s we appreciate the reduction against other high street pubs. The food unfortunately was only warm certainly not hot enough.

I don’t know why we went here but I will certainly never go to Wetherspoons again!! It was appalling! We used to go to the one in Paignton for a value snack and a couple of drinks now and again. We didn’t expect haute cuisine but it was always Ok and a good atmosphere. This place was messy, noisy and the food wasn’t fit for pigs. It was virtually thrown at us and looked like it had been thrown, from a distance, at the plate. It was horrible. Nothing more to say really

The food was VOLUPTUOUS and the staff were ABSOULUTELY REMARKABLE I am ASTOUNDED by what hard work they put into service and how quick it was.. keep up the great work :) - from a 15 year old boy who admires this estabishment
