If you like the aesthetic and ambience of a P&O ferry bar, you'll simply love the Richard Hopkins. Usual wetherspoons stuff, but cheap drinks and a decent selection of beers is always a win for a quick pint or cuppa!

Good food prices and choice, good for families.

For food and drink at a low cost this is the place to Yh u get the odd table that's not been cleaned and a table that's not level but u can't complain much

No draught beer/Cider for 2 days

Poor service. Badly understaffed. Tables left uncleared. Long wait to order . Only one person serving. Could do with a deep clean.

Plenty of room with great service. Did not have any food but what I saw looked good and people enjoying it.

Tried three times to order food and drink on the app. Each time when I went to pay it removed the beer as being out of stock. So I gave up and went to Teignmouth.

As far as weatherspoons go it's pretty decent. Normally can find a table and speed of service is pretty 'ok'. Main reason only 4*s is that I always het given dirty glasses, which really takes the shine off your wetherspoons prosecco.... or they give you a wine glass instead of a flute 🤣 maybe I'm holding too high expectations froma spoons. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to come and wipe my glass down with a napkin 🤣

Typical spoonies you know what to expect and that's ok by me

Went in years ago and only sat on a menu. Looked like a sunk ship dragged up state of the seats scummy grockle lover farmer pastys. Id not give it one burp let lone star. Keep out this naff chain that ain't cheap.

Great views over the marina food was hot, value for money and very quick.

Went into Newton abbot early so managed to have a cuppa before shopping. Ideal to relax

Whilst in Devon, i strolled into The Richard Hopkins in Newton Abbot for my lunch. My lunch was Wetherspoons delightful Cod and chips. This was washed down wiith a pint of Doombar. The service was good. The price was reasonable and I was well satisfied.

The lights are. To. Dim. Very poor. Lighting.

Clean good service. Could do with modernizing. The salad with my chicken chipotle wrap was the freshest I've ever had from spoon's. Nice cold carlsburg; as always great value.

Very enjoyable evening and excellent pints of San Miguel and bloody lovely chicken wings 👍👍

The pub was in good condition and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was okay. The bun was hard on the burger. The staff took ot away and changed it without any issues. The nachos tasted stale. The pizza was lovely and the garlic bread was nice.

Have had better food in other spoons.. Y no dogs outside?. Sat in corner out way .. got drinks and ordered food ,got back to table where wife said been asked to leave.. Luckily a nice young girl was near and after speaking to her she said we was OK just to eat..which we did. Other customers wasn't impressed too IF IT WASNT FOR THAT MEMBER OF STAFF WOULD HAVE BEEN 1*

Excellent location for day at the races

NO DOGS ALLOWED! not even on the veranda? I can take my dogs and eat at a 2* hotel. But not in a weatherspoons your having a laugh.

Good little Wetherspoons pub close to the main shopping area in Newton Abbot. Food is standard (usually very good). The place (like all Spoons) can get very busy. Today, there are only 2 coffee machines working, so there's big queues there, but if they are all in action it's quick to get your drinks. There are decent toilets upstairs in the pub, plenty of seating and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Always our port of call wherever we are ,never dissatisfied 👍

It's Spoons, what more can I say?

We have visited this Wetherspoons pub many times over the years, and you can't find fault with it no matter how yiu try? The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food and drink are well worth the money. When we are on holiday or just a long week away in Devon we stop at the Travelodge Torre. We then put our suit cases in the room, and get the bus just outside the hotel and off to Newton Abbot to the pub for a meal. Then a bit of shopping to stock up for munches (Poundland alnost next dooor), and get the bus back to the hotel sorted? I hope this review is of some help, and please,stay safe and take care. Went here this afternoon had the the fish and chips absolutely disgusting burnt to a crisp unedible, complained to the waitress was told that's how we always serve it, well they won't see us again the person who cooked it it should be ashamed but I suppose he could not give a damn, unless they sort their staff out it place is only going one way, and that's in the gutter

Cheap and cheerful! The last time we went, the place looked so clean; the tables were freshly sanitized and all of the menu cards were brand new. Lots of meal choices from a varied menu. We ordered, using the app., and the meals were hot - and brought promptly to our table. A lovely lady subsequently asked us if everything was in order. All meals are reasonably priced. There is a wide choice of alcoholic drinks, all of which are much cheaper than in other pubs.

Lovely Spoons which i assume has had a recent makeover. The 2 ladies serving behind the bar (short cropped hair, butch looking) the other middle aged had faces like the proverbial slapped a#se. Disappointed with the new 12 inch wrap, when it comes its about 5 inches, and the wife confirmed my measurement estimate. She should know. Great spoons but get the older staff members to be polite and smile occasionally.

Lovely atmosphere, very quick service for food and a drink. Very friendly staff and someone checked everything was ok during the meal. Nice atmosphere, clean and efficient for such a budget establishment. Good job guys 🙌

Good value for food and drinks we visit regularly at least twice per week

The dri is are a super price and as pensioners in our 70s we appreciate the reduction against other high street pubs. The food unfortunately was only warm certainly not hot enough.

I don’t know why we went here but I will certainly never go to Wetherspoons again!! It was appalling! We used to go to the one in Paignton for a value snack and a couple of drinks now and again. We didn’t expect haute cuisine but it was always Ok and a good atmosphere. This place was messy, noisy and the food wasn’t fit for pigs. It was virtually thrown at us and looked like it had been thrown, from a distance, at the plate. It was horrible. Nothing more to say really

The food was VOLUPTUOUS and the staff were ABSOULUTELY REMARKABLE I am ASTOUNDED by what hard work they put into service and how quick it was.. keep up the great work :) - from a 15 year old boy who admires this estabishment

A good atmosphere and a busy place. Got a place to sit down.didnt have long to wait for the food.very nice and quick service.

The place was quite busy when we arrived for lunch. Food was quickly bought to our table and was very good for the price. Would definitely visit again.

It's a Weatherspoons. Great beer, great prices, good service. Lots of space, so loads of people and a good atmosphere.

Usual Wetherspoons, maybe a bit lower standard than some. I go through phases with this pub company. One thing I don’t like is the bodycams worn by staff behind the bar, yes I know they have to protect their staff, but is this really necessary, other pub co’s don’t seem to need it, I could understand it for door staff.

Visited on Saturday afternoon very busy, good atmosphere. Usual Spoons value. Would visit again.

Good beer but service can be slow due to the bar not being properly staffed in The last month this establishment has become worse firstly i was invisible to a barperson she served a gent fair enough but with only 2 people at the bar another 2 girls walk in between us and she serves them first i walked out shocking service not a clue what is going on around them Bar so so understaffed However i did have my first breakfast and it was superb and value for money like spoons always is excellent food but service at the bar is a joke its like segregation one barperson doing one side others invisabile I feeel a queuing system should be introduced then i wouldnt get missed thats now 10 times in a year and 2 in 2 weeks What i have noticed by a friend though is spoons have a great new app which you can order from your mobile phone and pay it by phone app and the barperson brings it to your table As he says this app saves him from queing up at the bar I love spoons as a rule but this one just has something missing at times but still cheap and cheerful since I wrote this away back 3 years ago I was asked to write again service has improved but the App orders can make it a longer wait for a beer but it's not bad during the week weekends can be a lot longer of a wait unless you can use the App

Fairly friendly staff, took a while to get served an other member of staff was doing something else. Food arrived quickly and was hot tasty & well presented, prices of food seem to be getting higher and not such a big draw to spoons, toilets upstairs & miles away, disabled loo was locked so had to struggle up the stairs, saw a man with crutches spend a while trying to locate a radar key. Will probably return here for my dinner.

Service can be slow at times when only 1 or 2 serving at bar , and there is a enough toilet checks in gents, and also the disabled toilets. But saying that the bar staff do the best they can.

Good venue, nice food, a decent price for a pint (sub £2) great buzzing atmosphere like pubs should be!

Always pop in when in Newton Abbott either for a coffee or Breakfast. Not far from the car park. Nice break before we go shopping.

Very standard wetherspoons, we ordered through the app for our drinks. One of the drinks had to be changed as the keg had been emptied and a member of the bar staff came over to apologise which was very good of them. As the bar area started to get very busy there was a few minutes delay in getting our drinks but that's zero fault of the staff at all as we could tell they were extremely busy.

Atmosphere is lovely, their service and staff are very welcoming. I enjoyed my stay as it was very relaxing and food was an absolute delight.

I've liked this pub ever since it opened. Its not always perfect, but nine times out of ten it's a good night. Nice big spacious pub, good value and decent friendly staff. Great place for an everyday night out. Food reasonably priced and good too. Holds it own.... Vibrant.

Nice and cosy I side. Toilets two flights up as usual lol. Food as with all weather spoons. Pretty decent if on a budget. Good choice of drinks and food.

Staff very friendly bar staff good in desperate need of extra staff to clear and clean the tablets so when you enter bar you can sit down without having sticky and dirty dishes on the tables.When we arrive at 4 pm on Saturday 5t h November we couldn't find a clean table.The staff member did apologie when serving the food. We went to Exter at the weekend so much cleaner ,the only thing clean about Newton abbot is the toilets .

Great service. Social distancing a little lacking but at the end of the day you either choose to go in or not. Very big area, queuing was quite long but all the staff were running thier feet off, cleaning and preparing the tables for the next customers. Food was outstanding.

Only popped in for a coffee with a friend. Not bad for the price. Hot Chocolate was nice but not hot enough.

I love this pub, the beers for sale are fantastic, usually 2 different beers per week but loads of choice other than them, the beers in this pub are really cheap, my friend Dave likes the I.P.A. which is £1-77 per pint, where else could you pay less than £2-00 for a nice tasting beer ?

On too many occasions the food comes out lukewarm & we don't like it, needs to be piping hot. We gave Wetherspoons a miss for sometime, but decided to retry with 2nd chance. Well, breakfasts still have cold eggs served, the curries themselves are good value & tasty, but you let yourselves down with food just not hot enough. People will vote with their feet, and go elsewhere. I would say always have HOT plates ready, & stir your curries so they heat evenly right through. Get the basics right, word will get around and people will come back. We are the generation with disposable income who eat all our food, but we like it HOT. Not like some youngsters who order (when not really hungry) & leave half of it anyway. Or is that it's only warm & they haven't complained. We sent our curries back and they returned piping hot. ĢREAT!. Serve hot, as it's not going to get any hotter on plate.

Great beers very cheap, very tasty beef madras, and the Sauvignon Blanc is Villa Maria at very reasonable price

I have the spoon’s app but I can’t use it in this pub because the internet signal is terrible, so if staff are overwhelmed this is probably partly the reason. Other than that, i have no complaints about this place.

Your average Wetherspoons what more can you say other than good prices and choice of drinks. Lager that you have heard of not some gassy stuff with a pimped up name. App is a good way to order when it's busy, just order the next round before you need it. 👍
