Panini over toasted and Brie cheese consisted of rind, hardly any cranberries. Salad with panini was sad, not worth putting on the plate Salad and coleslaw had been made with old products. Staff who was waiting on in dirty T/shirt. Thick with dust on top of drinks fridge which could be seen from sitting down. All seat covers stained Skirting boards and paintwork and walls in need of a facelift. Very grubby place , won’t be going there again. For the price of over £30 with coffee , very poor.

This was our first time visiting for lunch and will b our last. I ordered the festive turkey and stuffing bap. No stuffing . Went and inquired the waitress threw the stuffing Wedge on the plate which was dry and stone cold. The pot of gravy about a tablespoon worth was also stone cold not to mention the dry bap. I told the waitress the bap was cold.. she replied .. what do you mean it's cold ..... NEVER AGAIN WILL WE VISIT

We do pop in quite frequently to use this shop. The café consistently deliver a good product. They're always busy but staff always friendly. It cannot be easy and they keep delivering. The soft play is great for our young ones. They say up to 8. Realistically 5 or 6 and even then that doesn't challenge this age. It is small. We'll be back for sure.

A group of friends booked Afternoon Tea at Shenstone Dobbies Garden Centre - I'm Coeliac and need Gluten Free - What a fantastic effort - really impressed. I had my own 'cake' stand. I had the same mix of sandwiches as my friends, but on nice GF rolls, along with a GF scone, a slice of GF victoria sandwich sponge, plus a few other different (non chocolate - fab!) GF sealed cakes. Loads of choice and I definitely didn't feel left out! WELL DONE!

I visited The Garden centre (Dobbies) in SHENSTONE today and had brunch with a friend. The roof leaked in places and the restaurant area was appalling! All of the seats on the chairs were badly stained. I ordered a cheese and tomato ciabatta but it was French bread. Rest assured I will NOT be going there again!

My last visit to Dobbies at Shenstone was less than impressive. I was looking for a particular weed killer so we t looking for some help from one of the staff. I obviously chose the wrong one because she obviously didn’t want to help. This rather masculine looking lady was a little peeved about being asked a question. When I asked whether the store had this item in stock she replied “Never heard of it!” and walked off. Staff employed in this environment need to be customer focussed and polite which was t the case in this particular lady!

Great customer service, if only they'd listen. I asked for no dressing on the side salad. We don't add dressing. The fact that it came out of the packet with a dressing.... We asked for 2 x ham & cheese pannini. My understanding of a pannini is that it's closed, this was an open sub with some ham and loads of cheese then toasted. It was tasty & filling but it was not what I was expecting. The green valley salad is lovely even with it's dressing.

For the first time ever visiting we didn’t have to queue to be served! Staff appeared efficient and we didn’t wait long for our order. Cheese scone had as nice texture but not a great amount of taste. Fabric chairs and settees all need a good clean as we had great difficulty finding anywhere clean enough to sit.`Floor needed sweeping, too.

Dobbies state that that dogs are not allowed in the main restaurant for health reasons. I regularly visit the restaurant, and more often than not I find the dog area to be a health hazard to dogs and their human companions. More often than not I have found the area to have horribly stained seats, and food all over the floor and the tables. Food all over the floor in particular is a health hazard to dogs as they will try and eat it and lick the floor. On one of my last visits I did complain to the manager of the restaurant, who did apologise and said they were very busy that day, and they are planning to have all of the chairs professionally cleaned [this was probably six months ago]. Today's visit was probably the worst I have seen and compelled me to write this review. Dobbies state in their FAQs that most restaurants have dog friendly zones. Well the Shenstone restaurant is far from dog friendly.

Despite having a very limited menu, it seems they have poor stock control. None of the half dozen or so mains appealed so we plumped for soup and toasties. We picked two of the three soups available, waited at the tills to be served, only to be told they had neither. We didn’t stay. It was busy, but not rammed, but none of the empty tables had been cleared or cleaned, and no effort was made to do so when we sat down. Better management required!

The price of breakfast has consistently increased over a very short period now £7.95 for standard, unfortunately the quality has decreased. Visited today the small single sausage was very poor quality, the bacon almost undercooked, the hash browns had a sour taste about them, the toast was tiny and very thin, the egg was almost cold, the black pudding was also very poor quality, luckily the baked beans were hot. The coffee came a good 15 minutes before the food luckily i covered the cup with the saucer anticipating the delay

Ordered Coffee and cake - collected cake when paid but coffee took over half an hour. I was worried my order had been forgotten as saw at least three people get their drinks who where after me in the queue. I was told by a rude member of staff that Coffee takes longer to make than tea so they serve Tea first and Coffee has to wait. Also I may have missed it on the menu, but I queued 15 mins to order a Toasted sandwich for my daughter only to be told food stopped being served at 3.00 - I had seen that the lunch menu stopped at Three but there was no mention on the sandwiches that these were not served after 3pm (which are in a different section on the menu) - annoying when I had queued so long. Won't be back.

Have been coming here for years with my mom who’s in a wheelchair. The restaurant is crammed with chairs and tables and very difficult to navigate. They change constantly between table service and counter service. After waiting 15 mins at our table to be served, I went to the counter, and was told the oven’s are all off and too late to order a toastie at 5mins past 3pm. However I watched for a further 30 mins continuous hot food coming from the kitchen. When I questioned this, I was rudely told “ you wouldn’t expect a bank to serve you when they were closed would you!” And that I should have read the signs! For some reason the lady with short dark bobed hair thought that was a great customer service response to say. No apology given. Even when I queried about being told the ovens were off. So rude.

Lots of food items items out of stock in the cafe. Being vegetarian, there was less choice to start with compared with meat-eaters. I literally asked for around 3-4 different vegetarian mains and they didn’t have any of them. Had to order a jacket potato as there wasn’t really anything else. This was dry, only slightly improved by the extra butter I requested. Queuing system was inefficient, it used to be table service which worked better. Ordered pudding without much of an issue, apart from an overlong wait. After 25 minutes, puddings still hadn’t arrived. We questioned this and finally two pieces of cake came to the table. We were then informed they had run out of the plain scones I had ordered. These had been in stock at the time of ordering, which I raised. They also said the mince pie cheesecake wasn’t available - I asked why it had taken nearly half an hour for us to be told this and explained we checked when ordering/paying that this was available. They could not give an acceptable explanation. The waitress suggested we choose alternative puddings. Again similar to the main, I asked for several different cakes (at least 6!) and again they didn’t have any. A refund was issued and I went away feeling disappointed and frustrated. With so many items not being in stock, customers should be informed in advance. Had I known they didn’t have the food I wanted, we would not have eaten here. Also where we were seated was under a large heater so I was uncomfortably warm for the entire meal. Moreover, the toilets smelt bad and had no accessible loo roll, it was trapped inside the holders. Nobody had signed the toilet checklist for hours, suggesting standards were not being met and no staff had taken responsibility for checking the facilities. We observed numerous staff working on the day of our visit, so I am reluctant to believe Dobbies were short-staffed on the day in question.

We stopped off here for breakfast heading oop North for a few days. Hadn't noticed until now that this place is now part of Dobbies. We frequently visit their Gailey centre and there is a world of difference. In a nutshell, it was appalling. The counter staff were slow and clearly not paying attention. We have our order asking to switch a couple of items and she got it wrong when read back. We asked for white toast and she replied "brown ?" and the order for tea and coffee confirmed as "two teas ?". Consistent at any rate !.When they came, the breakfasts were dreadful. As delivered, my toast flew off the plate and had to be recovered from the less than clean table. The bacon appeared to be cooked yesterday and resembled cardboard, as did the black pudding which crumbled like sawdust when cut. My beans were dried up and contained no juice. On the good side, the hash brown was OK if boiling hot which leaves the sausage which was....sausage.For £5.00 each, this was a disgusting rip off. I notice that the management never reply or comment to any reviews. They really ought to read them; it appears that our experience was not an isolated case. This place used to be so good at this time of year. We used to visit regularly to see the Christmas display which is now non existent.

There were plenty of tables but parking was already getting busy. There were birthday parties taking place in the soft play area and children going backwards and forwards. The noise level was not relaxing. The queue took forever to get served, a total of 15 minutes. There followed another 30 minutes wait until the food arrived which was not warm enough. The full English breakfast was somewhat tossed onto the plate and there seemed to be a whole tin of baked beans (the cheapest item). By the time it arrived it was nearer lunch time. Didn't really enjoy the food or the atmosphere and probably would not return to eat unless it was in the summer whereby you can sit outside on the nice patio.

Dobbies took over this garden centre some time ago but it's still a shambles. Closed franchises full of second rate stock, a half hearted attempt at Christmas which historically has always been pretty special here. The Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop that was right next to the restaurant has been closed for ages, but now, in the middle of the busiest time in the run up to Christmas, workmen are banging and crashing to refurb the area all through lunchtime. Lunch was dreadful. A cheese and onion toastie with salad, crisps and soup. The lettuce was wet and brown and the soup, supposedly carrot and coriander, looked like washing up water and tasted like soap. The supposed dog friendly area consists of 4 tables stuck on the outside of the restaurant area in the flow of customers doing their shopping. Not conducive for a pleasant meal or a quiet area for the dogs. Dobbies, you need to sort all this out, it's awful. Oh and market traders shouting at you to buy cheap meat at the exit is hardly helping.

Upon entering the restaurant it was really hard to see what was on offer. Finally found some scruffy paper menus lying around on the counter. Chose a panini and the lady said they didn't have one with that particular fillong, so chose another. Then she said they didn't have that one either. Chose a third, only to be told they didn't have it, the problem being they had no paninis - why not save time and say that in the first place? They could do a toastie. So, I asked if they would do the panini filling on a toastie, but alas no, as those fillings were reserved just for paninis, which, of course they didn't have. Plumped for a different toastie that was actually listed as such on the menu. Quite expensive. Coffee also expensive. Dining area lacks any character or ambience. Staff seemed bored - I would be too if I worked there. Toastie was dull, on thin sliced plant bakery bread. Coleslaw was around one desertspoonful and salad trimming was unimaginative. For heaven's sake managers, inject a bit of life into this place. Things could so easily be improved with just a bit of imagination. I only gave it two stars because it was clean.

Visited here for Mother’s Day today, the garden centre itself is great, especially the choice of plants. The same can’t be said for the restaurant though - ordering was chaotic, we ordered a toastie, a sandwich, and when I asked if they had any vegan options, the lady told me that they had a butternut squash tart from the specials menu. I asked her to confirm that this was vegan - she went away for a while and confirmed when she came back that it was. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food, all finishing our drinks, our meals arrived. One of the meals was wrong (a toastie not a sandwich), and it became clear that the ‘vegan’ tarts contained cheese. The staff were very prompt at giving us a refund, but two of us were left without a meal. Disappointing and doubt we’ll visit again. Surprising nowadays that the knowledge of vegan requirements (or allergens for that matter) was so poor.

I’m a local, and I have watched this once wonderful garden centre and restaurant get worse and worse. The over priced food was hot and that’s about it. Bland environment and no chance of a quiet stop in this restaurant because the indoor soft play centre for kids is also next to the restaurant. The whole place lacks atmosphere and loving detail. I’m sorry to be so negative but you just don’t seem to want customers there. £7.50 for breakfast, toast and tea extra!! You have a Toby carvery next door selling breakfast for £4.95, all you can eat! Make a bigger effort and your loyal base of locals might forgive you and return.

We visited yesterday and was very disappointed. The garden centre has gone down bank since we last visited. There was lots of areas with nothing in them, the gift range was very poor and just a few Yankee candles. One of the outlet shops had closed down. The cafe was in a total mess and we stood in the queue for half an hour just to get served. They were so slow on drinks that the sandwich we ordered arrived before we had our drinks and cake or even paid. I have never known people to be so disorganized. It was painful to watch. My daughter works in the industry and couldn't believe how slow and how big the queue was. We will not be returning again.

I was one of the ladies eating afternoon tea in the cafe. We had attentive service from a lovely lady named Jacqueline who was taking our order and was making sure we had the sandwiches and hot drinks of our choice. Despite the queue building up behind us, nothing was too much trouble for her. A big 5 star for exceptional service !

Very disappointing meal today - burnt steak and ale pie with about 4 small pieces of meat in- should really have complained Have had some lovely meals there before but will probably not bother to go again so another customer lost

First visit here to the cafe and were tempted by the afternoon tea for 2 for £16. Unfortunately if you book online as I did you're not able to use your vouchers. When we arrived we had to queue for ages as service was really slow, then our table wasn't set up ready, but when we got our food it was good value for money, if a bit sparse on the fillings in the cheese sandwiches( see photo), but was exactly as stated. We requested scones that didn't have cinnamon when booking but that didn't happen so had to ask for fruit scones. The staff were polite and helpful bringing us extra pots of tea to save us queuing again which was a nice touch. It's not as special as other places for afternoon tea but then it's not as expensive either so well worth a visit.

My daughters and myself visited the store to do some Christmas shopping as we do every year and decided to have lunch before we began. Although the vegan symbol was on the menu there was nothing vegan listed so we asked what the vegan option was and were told there wasn't one but we could have baked beans and a jacket potato. Hardly the festive treat that we were expecting. There had been a vegan cake but that had sold out so we couldn't have any dessert at all. The meal cost £26 for three potatoes, a small dish of beans each, a bit of lettuce and one cherry tomato cut in half each (salad - with baked beans???) and three drinks - very pricey for what looked like meals from the children's menu. Had there been anywhere else local to eat we would have gone there instead. Not sure that we will risk eating there again. Very disappointing start to what otherwise was a lovely afternoon.

We had breakfast with Santa. Had to prebook and great value for money and the kids met Santa and had a present. Well organised, maybe a microphone for Santa so we could hear him too. Lovely morning.

My daughter has just paid £12 to go 'pumpkin picking' at shenstone garden centre. There was a trolley of small pumpkins you can get for a pound in tesco. They already picked 2 pumpkins out for my grandchildren and carved 2 tops off then gave us a load of plastic carving tools none of which worked to carve the pumpkin! Found one carving knife between three peopl then eventually that broke! We then had something to eat and had to wait 40 mins for a couple of sandwiches!!

Visited here and had to sit in our coats as it was so cold, had to wait ages to get served although there were only a handful of customers.

Visited this garden centre on many occasions and this time tried the café for a meal. Limited mains menu but at £9.50 for 2 courses ( over 60's ) and a hot drink it's not bad value. My wife's fish and chips were very good as was my lasagna with garlic bread. However the small salad garnish with my meal contained limp lettuce and no dressing. Desserts of crumble and custard / sticky toffee pudding and custard were in good sized portions. Service was prompt and friendly.

Great garden centre. Lovely friendly staff. Wheelchairs if needed. But. The cafe. Over priced for poor quality sandwiches . 5.95 for a cheese sandwich bit of lettuce and coleslaw. Could have gone for a proper meal in a pub having spent nearly 25 pound. Coffee was nice though

Sadly the lunch was hardly worth waiting for. It was poorly presented with minimum care and content. The Hunter's Chicken was thrown together and only just edible as the chicken was underdone and the Caesar Salad could not really justify its name. Looking at other tables it would seem that this was the typical standard. Not a café to revisit

Just had lunch here, not for the first time, and once again the food was delicious. But more than that the people who bring out the food & clear the tables are happy, smiling & ever helpful. That just don't seem to stop. They also carry the drinks trays for those older customers who find it difficult to do with good grace. Limited standard main course menu, but supplemented by a good variety of daily specials. There are puds, afternoon teas, and lots of light bites and yummy cakes. Oh, and by the way there is even a garden centre too. Special thanks to Tammy.

We attended the restaurant at shenstone wyvale for breakfast today and were disgusted by the service and value for money. My husband ordered the 3 filling sandwich priced at £5 he chose spinach/mushroom and bacon. What arrived was a very poorly filled sandwich with only 1 slice of bacon in it. Nowhere on the menu does it stipulate that a filling portion is only 1 slice. We, due to the price assumed that a filling portion would be enough to fill the sandwich! When we bought this to the attention of the restaurant manager she very rudely told us that if we had wanted more bacon we should have ordered more bacon instead of the other fillings!.

I brought a McCulloch strimmer around 8 months ago for about £150 so not a cheap one. I used it twice and the pull cord went tight so it will not start.

First the good points. The service was quick and the cafe was clean. I do not feel that it is fair to base a review on one visit and so this was our second visit for lunch. For £7.95 each I had a piece of cheese and onion quiche that was sweeter than a piece of cake, along with new potatoes (no butter or herbs in sight) and what was described as a salad, a quarter of a tomato and half a plate of leaves with no dressing of any kind. A bit of. cucumber, onion or peppers would not have gone amiss. My husband had soggy chips with ham and overdone eggs. It is rare for me to give a bad review but this one is deserved.

I met my son for a mid-week coffee at Wyevale. He was having wholemeal toast and I had been looking forward in advance to a slice of cake. The cakes did look lovely and there was alot of choice. I then noticed the gigantic scones and succumbed to a fruit one. My coffee was very nice but the scone would have benefitted from being warmed. The restaurant is very spacious and the staff friendly. On warmer days you can sit outside. There is a children's soft play area in part of the restaurant so there sometimes can be abit of noise - especially if a party is taking place.

Why do most people not buy a wrist band for their children ad why is there no system of check. This is most unfair to the honest customers who pay

We visited as a family and had one drink each, a panini, kids pizza and cake and got little change from £25. The food was average and pizza not very nice. The staff were not too helpful with dietary requirements but we got by. It’s a nice garden centre but the cafe is overpriced for the quality.

Lichfield Costa on eastern avenue , the last few times I have been here, most of the servers are so rude, just no need . You can’t hear them through the speaker either so it makes it even more hard work
