A wonderful meal yesterday for an 80th birthday celebration. Food was great and plentiful. Our waitress was so friendly, joyfull and couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely atmosphere and added to the celebratory mood we were all in.

Eaten here a few times, always thought it was overpriced, especially starters and extras, but generally the food is cooked nice and tasty. The Service is attentive and friendly. The sharer platter was nice, if small. The halloumi fries at £4 were soft and the portion size was miniscule, and I really didn't appreciate the pot of sauce being shoved into the bowl squashing them in further. All in all, personally I think they need to offer better value for money

My fish and chips were over cooked.The fish in particular.

We went for Christmas lunch. The food was very good. The portion siz for the turkey dinner was huge. Service was very good and timely. All staff were very friendly and polite and wished us happy Christmas! The only slight hiccup was that my husband was given a different pudding to the one he ordered but he still enjoyed it.

Myself and all the guests (16) enjoyed ourselves immensely! and the staff are to be commended with there politeness and efficiency with getting the meals to ourselves in a timely manner. Will definitely return for our family Christmas meal next year!

We came to the Hedgehog for Xmas dinner , after having a heart transplant and been in hospital most of the year this dinner was meant to be celebration of Xmas and me getting better , however the dinner service was terrible the beetroot starter tastes like mud , the drink service to the table was very slow and the food service was very slow , the staff seemed unwelcome and then when we asked for a drink at 515 pm the responde we got was you know we are closing soon!!!!! Then to finish of 4 of my family has sickness in the night all who had the fish starter !!! I have emailed the manager and called about my complaint but he’s hasn’t even bothered to email or call back , totally shocking at nearly 700 pounds for a family meal

We had Christmas lunch today at the Hedgehog and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff and atmosphere were very welcoming! The food was well presented and delicious! Will definitely consider for next year!

Chose this place for a special lunch, we arrived early and the staff were so kind and helpful taking us to a table immediately. Staff we all so bubbly and knowledgeable order to service length was about right it gave us chance to chat, and the food when it came was beautifully cooked and very tasty. It was also easy to leave no hanging round waiting to pay our bill what a wonderful experience all round

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and had a great evening. It’s a lovely cozy pub and despite the fact it was busy and we hadn’t booked they found a table for us. The staff, especially the manager on duty that day were genuinely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious but their menu doesn’t have enough vegetarian/vegan options. The service was a bit slow but not to the point of complaint. The only downside for us was the price, it’s very expensive for people like us who cannot afford to eat out very often and have to be careful when choosing where to go. We have had our occasional meals out ruined by poor service and terrible food but not here and if the prices are not a problem for you I would happily recommend that you give them a try.

A short notice booking, but I didn't realise that there was a time limit on the table. However the service was extremely slow from providing the menu to bringing the sweet. I was very disappointed when time was called on the table with the presentation of the bill before the sweet was finished.

Waited over 1 hrs for food sent steak(£21.0) back as cold , and it was returned and still cold , by this time family had eaten theirs, then to get a new steak not cooked as requested. And had eaten side order while waiting.. Although they apologised it ruined evening , a discount was given but that's not what is needed, more detail to food and service from kitchen, waitress was nice but it's not her fault, we won't be going their again

Lovely pub and hotel in this beautiful city, walkable to pubs, shops and restaurants. Very big room, comfortable bed and very clean.

A good place but the food has gone down in quality. Vegetables, including roast potatoes, fried. The food is not up to scratch. But a nice place.

We come with our dog and reciced a very warm welcome. Sat next to an open fire. And provided a blanket for the dog water and treats all free of charge. The food was fantastic 😋 including the puddings and lots of drinks to choose from. Very nicely decorated, giving a very warm atmosphere. Campervan friendly if having a meal or drink. We will definitely be visiting again. 😊

The evening was a genuinely enjoyable one,a dinner for 6 birthday celebration. The ambience in the dining area was one of quiet,relaxing professionalism and the food was delicious. Particularly noteworthy was the customer service delivered by the waitress during the meal,one of attentiveness, patience, thoroughly friendly,helpful staff and a very personable experience to compliment the delicious food. A memorable meal in a room of pleasant surroundings and decor, with excellent service and a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Would recommend to family and friends, will definitely be back in future for group meals, thanks for such a pleasurable experience.

Awful experience! 10 minutes after taking our order, they told us that we couldn’t have 3 of the 4 main meals ordered as they had ‘ran out’. If this was the case, why not tell us this prior to ordering, very poor, incompetent service. To add insult to injury, when they brought out our starter, it was cold so obviously wasn’t freshly made. Extremely disappointing as we’d travelled 30 minutes to get there & our visit was for a family members birthday. Would definitely not recommend & advise people to avoid this place. The Bowling Green, just a 3 minute drive away from here, offers much better service, food & value for money.

DON'T HEDGE YOUR BETS ON THIS PLACE. We had booked a 7:30 table at the Hedgehog (29.10.24) for a Birthday meal. Prior to taking our orders we were told that the 'signature burger' was not available which was unfortunate as the birthday girl had decided that' was what she wanted. Anyway, after a few minutes we decided on 3 x beef bourguignon's and 1 x fish cake. We ordered a sharing platter as a starter along with some calamari. A few minutes later the waitress came back and told us that there but no beef bourguignons left which was quite annoying as myself and my son were really looking forward to it and now the birthday girl's second choice was also not available. Whilst trying to decide what other dishes we were going to choose we were then told that one of the items on the sharing platter (the pulled pork and apple bonbons) were also not available so had to choose another alternative. A short while later whilst still trying to decide what we were going to have for our mains the sharing platter and the calamari arrived..... unfortunately both meals were cold to the touch!! It was at this point we decided we wanted nothing more to do with this restaurant. We finished our drinks which I insisted were free at this point and left. How can such a large establishment (somewhere we have been a couple of times in the past) owned by one of the largest pub chains (M&B) get it so wrong. There is obviously something seriously wrong with your system. Surely in today's high-tech world every waiter or waitress should have the ability to know exactly what is or isn't on the menu prior to taking people's orders without having to keep going backwards and forwards to the customer saying menu items are not available once orders have been placed. Also why can't you keep enough stocks of every meal to ensure this doesn't happen. Not only was it a special birthday meal but we had travelled 30 minutes to get to this restaurant. What a very poor and disappointing experience. Luckily we went to a pub a few minutes away called the Bowling Green. They managed to get us a table and provide us with hot food that we had chosen first time. Ironically this pub is also owned by M&B!!!

Had a nice meal at the Hedgehog. What really made it was the attention of the staff from Justina the manager to Chloe who served us and Fred behind the bar. Despite being really busy they were all very attentive and friendly. Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday when we are staying again overnight

Having reported an issue with the bathroom in our room. We were surprised and appreciative of a free drink. Charlie was a bundle of fun and advised us well on the choice of food. It was a second evening of an pleasant experience of the restaurant.

Food was excellent good amount of everything on Sunday dinner only thing is the roast potatoes and parsnips where hard couldn't eat the parsnips roast potatoes seemed like they were batch cooked earlier in the morning and left

This is what great pubs are about. Beautifully well presented, lovely log fire a good selection of ales and great servicce. Menu a little disappointing in it's choice but what we had was tasty. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here after a 5 hour trek for a drink and a meal. We were a group of 15 and being partly covered in dirt after the trek opted to sit outside where it was warm and sunny. There was a good choice of spirits and beers, and the food selection was wide ranging including vegetarian and vegan options.

When I booked online I asked if chips were cooked with other meat or fish products but had no reply. Tonight when I asked was told yes. This meant my meal was from the deserts menu. Vegan option. Vegan options on main menu very poor.

Lovely place, room was excellent, pub/restaurant busy so book a table. Our waitress was fabulous. Breakfast was good, I asked for 2 eggs and bacon, excellent. Coffee was awful, very "stewed", orange juice tasted funny. I would definitely stay there again but not have the coffee or juice at breakfast.

A group of twelve members of the Muzio Clementi Association of Barcelona visited The Hedgehog in Lichfield, Clementi's home from 1828 to 1831, an important place in the biography of this musician. We were very well received and enjoyed the excellent food and atmosphere. Thanks to the staff and also to Janette Horton for her help and recommendation.
