A random lunch/ dinner out with the other half. Staff lovely and helpful. Food bang on point! I think we will end up going again.

Lovely place to eat, good food and relaxed atmosphere.

Called in on Tuesday night for the pub quiz as our other venue stopped. The quiz was spot on and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be making this our regular.

Not a huge fan of pubs, but on this one, I found the Douro one, and it was lovely! Plus the view is lovely.

Great place, very pleasant decor and good food

Food was tasty, if not exactly hot. Wine selection was poor. The service was excellent, but the atmosphere was very poor. The live singer ( that we were not told would be performing when we booked) was so loud that our intimate anniversary dinner has us shouting across the table at each other. Shame, because we've eaten here before and had a lovely quiet lunch.

We had a family party there on a large private table. Great pub, great service and we were able to move outside after the meal into a good sized pub garden for more drinks. We had a great time.

No vegan Sunday roast. 3 vegan choices one of which was a processed burger This is our favourite place to eat when we are I the area. The menu is no better than a weatherspoons or marston pub at a high price defiantly gone down hill

Lovely evening last night and was great to have Charlie back as our server. Always remembers our drinks and is so lovely. I had the Belly Pork which was cooked perfectly and the wife had the Burger which comes with the most delicious beef dripping gravy. This has now become one our favourite places to eat. Always great service and everyone is always happy to help.

Easy parking, friendly staff, good atmosphere, quality food and good value for money

We are locals and visit The Whittington Arms regularly so we knew the standard we could expect. On this occasion, we booked a table in the garden to enjoy the live music. The setting was superb as we enjoyed the sunset with a fantastic music set delivered by a musician who engaged with the entire audience. The food, as always was top drawer, the cocktails were delicious and the staff were the epitome of perfect hosts. Special mention should be given to the member of staff called Charlie who was on a mission to make sure everyone’s every need was catered for with her boundless enthusiasm and attention to detail. It was an evening to remember - thank you!!!

Spontaneous meet up with my bestie and thought let’s take a chance and head over to the Whittington arms as we hadn’t booked anywhere. And the amazing Charlie who is the best waitress hands down managed to do her magic and get us a table. When I say A1 service given to us by all staff but especially Charlie very attentive and so friendly !!!!

Ever since our 1st visit, we’ve returned multiple times and still the same great food but more importantly the staff are so warm and look after you. Tonight we were looked after by Elle and sorry for not mentioning the birthday so you could decorate the dessert. See you soon (again)

A birthday celebration with family at the Whittington arms in Lichfield . Everything was first class. A special mention to our waitress Ellie who insisted on calling me Brenda even though it's not my name. Now my whole family are caselling me Brenda! 😅

Having not visited here before, we made a last minute booking for ourselves and our 7 year old. As we arrive we were warmly greeted and showed to a table. The setting was lovely and decorated tastefully. It wasn’t very busy, but we did have a booking at 5.30 so I guess a little early. For drinks we chose a pint of Madri and a glass of house Zinfandel, (wine was absolutely delicious) The menu was great with lots of choice. We had breads and oils to start which was nice. For mains, my husband had Seabass, I had Duck noodles, and my daughter had fish and chips. Duck noodles is not something I would normally order, but because we hadn’t been before I thought I would try something different. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the dish. The duck was incredibly fatty, I found myself picking at it and then leaving most of it, considering the duck was most of the dish, I didn’t eat a lot. There wasn’t a lot of rice noodles so I was very hungry, by the end. Luckily, I had ordered halloumi fries too. I would’ve mentioned to a waitress, however no one came to check we were happy at any point (being a restaurant manager myself I was shocked at this, this is your time to rectify things!). Having said this, my husband and daughter ate all of theirs and said it was really good, and other food that was coming out around me looked incredible so perhaps I picked the wrong dish! When the waitress cleared the table, I did tell her I was disappointed and my reasons, which she said she would feedback to the kitchen, but then when she returned to the table with dessert menus, didn’t give us any explanation or apology from the kitchen. We each had a pudding, apple torte, chocolate brownie and sticky toffee and rum pudding, which were all to die for. It was just a shame that I was so hungry it took no time at all to eat it. Unfortunately once we had ordered I also found the service slow, even though it was not that busy. Would I go again? Despite this review, I would actually. Because the setting was so nice and staff pleasant, I’d love to return and try a different dish.

Nestled in an excellent location, this restaurant offers a delightful blend of traditional and modern decor that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upon a friend’s recommendation, we decided to try their three-course meal. The food was good, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our visit was slightly early in the evening, which may have contributed to a quieter ambiance. However, I imagine the atmosphere livens up as the night progresses. While the service was generally satisfactory, there was a slight delay despite the ample staff presence, and we noticed a lack of follow-up to ensure everything was to our liking throughout the meal. The prices are somewhat above average.

This was my first time at The Whittington Arms, and I absolutely love it. Firstly, the staff makes you feel super welcome, there are fantastic and always very happy to help. I went to have some lunch out with my kids, and honestly, they made my day. Food is very good quality and good size. Price is ok, and the place is very clean and tidy. I'll definitely visit again.

Shocking meal , both our meals were extremely poor. My wife’s pizza was cremated and in complete contrast my cod was undercooked. We were attacked by the numerous flies in the restaurant throughout the meal.

Probably one of the best places for food in Lichfield. We usually visit the Green Man however last few times we've been we haven't had a good experience so decided to try whittington arms and we were not dissapointed. Freshly cooked food, really good atmosphere. Drinks came in quickly after ordering.

Fantastic service today. We opted to visit here after strawberry picking locally a little earlier in the day. Our eldest decided he was going to be a little ‘fussy’ shall we say, however, special thanks to Ellie who overcame this with being so accommodating with what he was looking for. Fantastic service and lovely food. Will be sure to visit again and highly recommend.

Couldn't really fault it hence the five stars all round. I must say the steak chef special 10 oz sirloin on the bone was amazing three of us all had three steaks cooked to my liking to perfection. Starters and desserts were brilliant as well. Service excellent with a smile. Would definitely go again within the area again.

Went on Sunday the 9th for dinner with a few friends, was very busy but the staff where very attentive, didn’t seem to be rushed and the food quality was amazing even though it was so busy, looking forward to going for lunch.

What a fabulous pub/restaurant!! We called in as a family of 10 with 3 dogs and were lucky enough to sit outside in the sunshine. On going into the pub it looked fabulous with gorgeous decor and furniture! Immaculately clean and definitely had that wow factor for me. The staff behind the bar were fantastic too with a great sense of humour and enjoyed the banter we had with them. Food was just as good and piping hot when it was served to us. A cracking time was had by us all and I will definitely be back. A first class pub/restaurant!! Thank you!

I have to say I wasn't impressed with the food at all. How it was described wasn't how it came and it was missing items. My sons food wasn't any better and it certainly wasn't worth the money I paid. I wouldn't eat there again.

Excellent food and great service

Recently went here with friends for a meal. Lovely pub, very clean and welcoming team. I am vegetarian and decided to try the banana blossom meal. I didn't like it and left it all. I was quite surprised when my plate was collected that I wasn't asked if there was anything wrong with my meal. I was not expecting a replacement or anything, as there was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't like it. My friends meals were really nice and enjoyed. After dessert, we were day chatting for a while and were not approached to see if we wanted any further drinks and in fact had to try and attract the attention of a member of the team. Lovely pub which I will definitely visit again thougheill just order something else!

The portions are now getting too small. With the nut roast there was not enough veg or potatoes on the plate without having to buy extra veg. That then makes it expensive

Fantastic evening once again at The Whittington Arms. Time and again it absolutely delivers as a really great gastro pub. Open, warm and inviting setting, with real care and attention paid to the details and especially the food. The sea bass was especially good on this visit. Highlight of this visit though was Charlie, who was leading the servers on the evening. She was an absolute treasure, welcoming, charming and absolutely in control of what was going on. We'd booked on line and asked for a number of considerations regarding where to seat us. Charlie knew exactly what was required and set us up perfectly for the evening. What a star! Fully recommend The Whittington Arms if you're looking for a relaxed and really enjoyable evening out.

Sad to say Edited review from a no longer repeat customer, Normally one my favourite places meals out with family/partner received a email voucher stating 50% off mains till 19th, was bitterly disappointed after booking meal for 4 to find its valid 8th to 19th and it's which it doesnt say so it couldn't be used, really shouldn't be sending offers that are not clear on terms kind of put a dampner on the evenings end as we wouldn't have Booked for the date if had known. When asking the server If anything could be done she went to speak to management who was sat up the bar management didn't come over acknowledge us but sent to poor server back who looked very uncomfortable, as we were leaving the manager was still sat up the bar and another server was mucking about and dancing round by the bar. Unfortunately put us off coming back again which is a shame as been coming here for years but have found the service lacking for recent visits.

My family took me here for my 70th birthday meal, there were 13 of us. We had a good table, service from Ellie was excellent and meal was great. We didn't feel rushed. The slight problem with my grandson's meal was quickly sorted without any fuss.

The service and delivery from the team was brilliant. A very well kept pint of Landlord and the food always ordered and delivered in a very timely manner. A special thanks to Charlie for keeping the service flowing and the chat to our large team going she made a good night a great night. Cheers. Would highly recommend for parties 10-20 with ease.

The food is lovely, the chefs are very good at what they do. Our food has always been exceptional, hot and seasoned well. The size of the restaurant is large but also intimate with table layouts. The staff are on occasion lacking in detail and presence. My wife and I have visited numerous times and depending on management it can vary on attentiveness of staff and how the feel of the atmosphere is. The gentleman with the yellow lanyard is always friendly and recognises us and Charlie is worth her wait in gold. They both never let our drinks empty and are always attentive . It is a pleasure being served by them.

The Whittington arms is somewhere we come back to over and over again for lunch or dinner. It provides a well arranged restaurant area that is both comfortable and roomy and regularly refurbished . Attentive service is important and generally works very well. The menu is varied which you might describe as pub centric. The king prawn crab and chorizo linguine is a personal favourite but you can find a range to suit all tastes.

Had a birthday celebration, 15 family members. Per ordered menu but add ons were allowed on the day. Wonderful atmosphere and service. One slight hiccup but this was dealt with efficiently by the Manager. Many thanks. Would definitely return.

My mom and I came to visit the Whittington arms for the set mothers day menu on 10/03/2024 after being recommended by a friend and we head the most lovely time. All of the staff were lovely, in particular Jake took great care of us and made sure we had the best time. The food was fantastic, could not fault it even though they were fully booked. Amazing choices on the menu too. Would highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back.

As it was Mother's Day we were expecting it to be busy, but this didn't stop us from receiving a warm welcome. We only had to wait a couple of minutes for our table to be ready. Ellie was our waitress and was wonderful. She ensured we had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble. I can't rate her highly enough. She's a credit to the staff who were clearly doing a lot of running around.

Great place to celebrate a family birthday. Food was delicious and staff were amazing.

Lunch menu good except 2 desserts N/A (crumble and cheesecake off) When asked if we could have an alternative dessert from main menu we were told no. You must be more flexible with customers! Offer main menu desserts at £2 extra (as an example)?? Waitress less than accommodating and didn’t offer any alternatives, almost dismissive in her attitude. This was unnecessary as our bill came to almost £100. Overall, food good and service mostly good too.

Fantastic service beautiful food and location

We loved the area we sat and nice relaxed vibe it had, however had a very loud and extremely drunk table by us, where the customers were acting up and being very loud. So much so we had to keep pausing our conversation. The knocked a glass over, a chair.. it was unfortunately a bit a of dimmer on our evening. Following that, while we were asked for a drink request as we got there, food was quite a while and we were never asked again if we would like a drink and so ate with no drinks left and even after the meal, whilst talking was never asked if we would like a drink. The lady who took our food order was very inpatient and made us feel a little pressured when ordering. So overall while the food was great, it took a while to come out and the service was far from ideal. And unfortunately not a restaurant we would of expected to unfortunately be disturbed by alcohol consumed guests - we purposely chose this restaurant away from the centre in hope it would be peaceful and calm. Would return, however hope next time we don’t encounter the same issues.

Nice looking (messy when we were there though). Decent lager. Seems to be bookings only for food having tried to eat here several times but being left disappointed despite the restaurant area being a quarter full.

The food by Connor the chef was excellent and the service from Charlie the waitress was impeccable, would recommend. Was my wife’s bday and she thoroughly enjoyed it

8 of ate at the Whittington Arms at 4.30 .. it was quiet ..despite this the service was slow food mediocre and when came to pay the bill the waitress was flustered and rushed .. it took her three attempts to get the bill correct we then paid some cash and card . When I got home she had put 268.80 on my card instead of £117 ..I called immediately and was told it had been put on as a tip !!!!!!! After 9 phone calls …. 3 visits …. I eventually had the money returned with no real explanation why this happened …the attitude of the staff and 2 managers was alarming and dismissive with no customer service at all .. there was obviously something very dodgy going on … we will never return to the Whittington Arms ever again …

Fabulous 60th birthday party . Charlie was our waitress she did a wonderful job abd coordinated with me really well . Nicely decorated drinks package organised glasses ready tea and coffee ready . 26 really happy guests a s very satisfying Sunday lunches . Hardworking well times meals all out in a very quick time all 26 hot meals came out . Great service , great food and very full abd happy . Thank you for making my husbands birthday so special . Prebooked food but still some was unavailable. We weren't charged for one main as they had to remake it (and then it was barely edible) and the forgot to bring out one dessert so did not charge for that. Pub was quiet but service was poor 😐

The ambiance & decor is lovely as are the staff, who are attentive. However, there were some issues on our night out. Firstly, the starter - we both had the chilli prawns with ciabatta, this was a big disappointment considering the price. 4 small prawns, nothing 'king' about them, theh looked like they came out a packet from aldi, no hint of chilli at all, and a slither of ciabatta... the tomato sauce tasted bland. The mains were ok, but i had the belly pork, again it was small..just one piece... seriously belly pork isnt expensive & im sure a couple of pieces would be worth £18 not one! It was also not slow cooked in my opinion as it wasnt melt in the mouth soft. My partner had lamb which was good, but the presentation was poor, it looked like it was thrown on the plate on top of the mash.. Again, no additional veg , we would have needed to order extra sides. My partner ordered a pint of Doombar ale. He tasted it, and it was sour & off. So sent it back & had something else. This is very poor bar management,. as the pipes are obviously not clean. for somewhere that is promoting quality, this is unacceptable. He could have been made very ill if he drunk that. Overall, we weren't impressed which is disappointing as id been in for a xmas meal in December and it was good then.

Food quality spot on...service was also spot on and waitress came to ask if we were enjoying our meal which is a nice touch at all times...drinks were reasonably priced starter and dessert was fantastic....will be taking a family group there soon as we had a lovely experience.

Superb service and meals and our first time here...read some reviews and they were not very complementary so decided to try it ourselves and as soon as we set foot in the place the staff greet you and showed us to our table....we had Sunday Roast Beef with a starter of chicken strips...and a dessert of apple and damson pie... It was outstanding and its always nice when they come to enquire if you are enjoying your meal ...which they did,All in all cant wait to take the rest of our family here ....100% recommend

Just had a beautiful Steak @ The Whittington Arms, the chef Connor cooked my Ribeye exactly how I like it, Bleu!!!! We’ll certainly be returning very soon. Keep up the great work!!!

Friendly staff and enjoyable food

Once a pretty good restaurant this is now amateurish beyond belief. The food is disappointing at best and some was inedible. Our mezze wa served without houmous because they'd run out. We ordered a battered banana blossom which was 99% cold greasy batter and tough as old boot. The waiter was fine about us changing it for a vegan burger. This when it came was cold, dry and smelled of dog food. The cheese was straight form a sandwich cheese pack and hadn't melted. Such as a shame. Looking (belatedly) at other reviews it has changed hands. The music was incongruous dance/club music played loudly. The temperature of the room was very cold. We mentioned it and the radiator still didn't heat up despite them offering to boost it. Service was fine. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Attended with wife and her sisters yesterday (20/01/24). Service was acceptable but slow. I had cod and fries. The fries were overcooked, dry and stuck together. The cod, which is described as "line caught" (really?) was on the small side and had the skin on...

Great food on the menu to cater to pretty much all palettes and a brilliant selection of drinks to pair with it (including alcohol-free). Ther service couldn't have been any better, with the staff taking care of us throughout and making sure we were always topped up for drinks and that we were never waiting more than 10mins for food. Thoroughly recommended for anyone dropping in for either a nice lunch or dinner and somewhere I'll definitely be returning to.
