The Acorn Inn Pub in Lichfield

Massive seating area that is very rare to find in Lichfield, plus the price of a pint you really can't complain about!

Me and my girlfriend were quietly sat at a table unwinding after her long hard day at work, we'd only had 4 alcoholic drinks but were told the 4th one would be our last. We were not tipsy or anything and we were leaving after the 4th drink anyway, which is not the point. Why say that we'd had enough to drink when we were obviously sober? It was rude of the staff member involved but i didn't push the matter in the pub Thats why I'm here now looking for answers... is it normal to stop people's custom like this?

Food is good, but portion of chips with meal is atrocious. App works well though.

Not great food, partly cold, no staff checked on our table to see if all was OK. Nobody came to clear our plates away for about 40 minutes that we were still there after our meal.

I went with my group after the weekly meeting with Staffordshire Adult Autistic Society. I loved the food options—the mobile app really helps the group with ordering. The service was fantastic, as usual, but one staff member stood out: Tom. He provided consistently excellent customer service, engaging with everyone at my table, quickly clearing plates with a smile and a joke, and even explaining some of the best food and drink options. He also complimented my custom jacket. Tom is definitely an asset to the company!

I went in with my friends to have a quick drink before a bottomless brunch we had planned at 2. We ordered our drinks on the app with about 20 minutes till our bottomless started. After 10 minutes we started getting a bit short for time so i went up to the bar and spoke to a very nice woman just sayin we’d been waiting awhile for our drinks and we had to go soon so just asking for an update on how long it would be. She was really kind about it but when she called another girl over to ask about what was happening with the drinks the other girl quite rudely told me she’d just sent them over to the table (which is my bad I was just getting worried that we wouldn’t make it to our bottomless on time). I went back to my table and a man was there putting the drinks on. As i sat down i said to my friend the girl at the bar was a bit rude to me. The man serving our drinks then proceeded to try and lecture me and belittle me for being upset about the way the girl spoke to me. He told me “can’t you see that we’re busy? you should be expecting to wait 20 minutes for your drinks when it’s like this (having worked in hospitality i think that’s absolutely ridiculous). He also said if I was that bothered about the timing of my drink I should have gone up to the bar and showed them the order so they could make them quicker and i told him about 7 times that that is exactly what I tried to do. I tried to tell him that I was only trying to politely ask the bar staff how long the drinks were expected to be as we had somewhere to go soon but he carried on having a go at me so much that many other tables started staring at us. It was beginning to get really embarrassing so i said to him listen we’ve got our drinks i’m happy just leave us to drink our drinks. He then told me that if I wasn’t going to listen to him (bare in mind he’d been talking at us for 5 minutes straight) then we could get out of the pub. My friend told me his name was Tom but I’m personally not sure he had long hair and was working on the 18th jan is all I know. On top of all that all three of my group said their drinks tasted weird. I don’t want to diss the entire pub because the woman i spoke to initially at the bar was actually very lovely just a shame the other staff are rude and especially the man really condescending.

Dirty tables , dirty tables everywhere for god sake 😨😨 foods not bad but the whole place is a mess !! Come on tim Martin sort them out ...

horrible staff with horrible manners and disgusting service, food and drinks. would NOT reccomend to anyone.

I know it's only a spoons BUT they should still have standards, and what was even worse was there was a manger on the pass with a young waiter allowing food to do out looking like this. I've heard of gray peas black country but these are garden peas how do you make then grey ha and the eggs. Well. Ordered desserts and asked to swap the ice cream in a brownie to custard however was told we had to pay £1.23 extra as you can't swap yet, the brownie only came out with a small amount of custard and no ice cream, so I'm not exactly sure what we paid extra for!!!! Recently had food in the rugeley spoons and Birmingham airport, food was of way better quality so a small spoons in lichfield centre with way less covers should be able to produce food to an equal standard. Won't be coming back again.

Every weekend me and my fiancé always go for breakfast and it never fails. Maybe just keep the butter away from hot food😀

My wife went to the bar to order two meals & drinks. The woman serving behind the bar with long hair & pony tail with a miserable face was quite rude when she asked if the breakfast option was still available, she rudely replied abruptly the breakfast had ended then carried on talking to a friend hers. My wife then asked to order off the menu and again she was rude to her because she was talking to this friend of hers, so we left! She should be sacked. This was at 1130 on boxing day

Hundreds of empty glasses and plates everywere, WiFi not working and app getting stuck

Understaffed, had to wait an age for service at the bar as the table order service kept crashing. Everything else was your normal wetherspoons, good food and drinks.

The most surprising thing was that Sherpas aren't required to navigate to the restrooms 😂😂

Oh dear! What a downturn The Acorn Inn has taken! It's been roughly a year since we last went and what a huge difference there is! Most tables were piled high with dirty dishes and glasses. Even having cleared a table for ourselves, nobody actually cleaned the table or removed the dirty dishes that we'd put aside. They stayed there throughout our meal despite several staff bringing us drinks and food. They seemed to be totally oblivious to the mess around them! The place was busy but service was prompt, the only good part of our visit though. The food looked like it had been thrown at the plate and was half cold. I know Wetherspoons have reduced their portion sizes, but this is now erring on the side of ridiculous! Not good value for money at all. I don't know if there has been a change of management here, but Wetherspoons really need to give themselves a good kick up the bum at just how bad things have got. We will not be returning any time soon!

Steak night , dirty tables as usual steaks came cold grissaly rubbish peas thrown on plate old and new mixed , said it was rubbish ... No one came to investigate . The staff can't even clear a table . Needs major staff training . Where is a manager to run the ship ???

came here last night, took ages for food to reach my table. Food was cold. I obtained food poisoning in the early hours this morning and have had to be absent from work. Never coming here again

Quite a Nnce pub. Shame one of the Customers was marched out in handcuffs when we had only been there about 5 mins!!

Overall the pub managers abd staff need retrsing in there attitude to customers. We are not regulars to this pub and definatly wouldn't recommend.nend to anyone. Over half hour waiting at the bar fir a drink. Grrrrrrrrr

I always praised Wetherspoons' breakfast, but today, I was extremely disappointed. My breakfast was served on the verge of being cold.

Not as good as most Wetherspoon pubs. The food is poor. Came back 2 years later and it's worse. I don't expect gourmet food but when you can knock a naan against a plate with a click, it's not good. Needs new staff

A standard Wetherspoons clean tidy reasonably priced

The issue is when staff deliver food they should always bring something back ....clear the tables...I blame management...dopey very dopey

Getting served was a huge challenge. Staff disinterested and they weren’t busy at all. Decided to use the app after trying to get served first time. They just ignored the order so I had to go up after 15 minutes and tell them they had an order. . Next time I might pour it myself 😂

Went there for breakfast the cook always does it how we ask for it to be done. Shall be going later for a pint.

Very disappointing vist,cold food after a very long wait,we were not the only customer's on Saturday who experienced this..maybe short staffed? Usually very good 👍

Spot on tonight, food was lovely

It's a spoons . Not the best one around but is better than it used to be. Daily specials are good value, other than that it's nothing to write home about. The place is tired , it needs a make over a good clean and most definitely a dust. If you're going to have alcoves with old books on them dust them because it's starting to fall on the food.

Was really disappointed with my visit here. Not so much about the food (typical weatherspoons nosh) or the atmosphere (it was very busy) but the reception I recieved when ordering 4 drinks after my daughters graduation from TMD Litchfield. Having travelled an 8.5 hr journey from Scotland for her Graduation we decided to visit Wetherspoons. After we found a table and ordered our drinks via the app, she and her friend were asked for ID when the drinks we had bought and paid for were brought to the table. (It was heartening to know that this establishment took under age drinking seriously). However when producing her Services ID card (which online weatherspoons states that they accept this form of ID) she was refused the alcoholic drink unless she could provide another form of ID? (Who carries two) I tried to explain that this was a celebrative drink and we were there only for one, that the ID was valid and I was her parent. I am 54, I was there with my friend who is 40 and my 15 year old son (it was well before 9pm and he was drinking coke). However she was told that she couldn't drink her drink in the premises. We were then left with a table of 4 drinks that had been paid for and one of the group wasn't allowed to drink hers? Awkward.. To put things into perspective, my daughter and her friend are both 20 years of age. My daughter has had a year from hell as she has battled a sudden diagnosis of Leukaemia. So as you can imagine, the fact that she was in remission, and had completed training made this one drink was extra special! To be refused this opportunity in such a way was awful and ruined what was to be a very special day. I fully understand that every establishment has its own rules but these rules should not be set in stone and a risk assessment of the situation should be carried out. We were clearly not a rowdy bunch of squaddies who where about to wreck havoc in this establishment.. SO TO PUT IT MILDLY I AM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED 😞

Great pub. Probably the most polite and friendly of staff, I have ever been in the company of. Well done, they deserve recognition.

The time we went food was not good burger over cooked and hard . Fish was not enough to feed a child

Always a laugh with the staff and the regulars are friendly and sociable. Nice place for a pint but the food is hit and miss, wouldn't recommend a steak unless you like it well-done however everything else on the menu is cheap and cheerful. Plenty of seating and a big enough smoking area

Quiet day when we popped in for a bite and beer. Breakfast was not as nice as usual as sausages were dry and overcooked, but otherwise usual fare and service great as usual. Perhaps a one off , will come back on my next day off to see how it goes.

Considering that we ate during the lunch time rush. The food was hot, tasty and looked appetising. Abbott ale at £2.60 reduced by having a meal deal. Tables were in my short supply and so close together it made it difficult to move around. But other than that It was fine for us.

Lunch and pints for 2 for £14. Can’t argue with that

Very nice pub overall keep up the good work 👏

Great atmosphere, clean and tidy ,friendly and great food.

As always it was very busy, and food took a little longer to arrive. We both ordered halloumi wraps, one with salad and one with chips. When they arrived, both were with chips. We didn't complain as we had limited time left on the car park. The halloumi wraps and the chips were both very good but would rather have shared the salad and chips with my husband. We sat outside as it was a nice day.

Reliable as all Wetherspoons are. Tables need to be cleared and wiped more quickly following customers finishing meals and drinks, bit that's always the case in any Wetherspoons I've visited not just this one.

Ordered several drinks in the app and we after a while got told they weren't in stock!!! Tried to order later still on the app and waited ages, then found out that they had refunded it!!

All the tables are full of old plates, so nowhere to sit. Staff couldn't be bothered to change the Pepsi syrup due to only having one manager on??? Looks like they are not too bothered in here.

Went to Wetherspoon's last night, my server Katie was absolutely wonderful

Waited 55 mins for food to arrive and when it did it was of very poor standard and cold, I had a refill coffee and all the machines were not working or needed topping up, on the positive side staff were friendly and welcoming if somewhat run off there feet.

I had a lovely meal and the staff was very well expectantly Katie

Katie was an amazing server, felt extremely comfortable with her and she was so outgoing!

I went to Wetherspoons on Wednesday around 4:30 and came just for a quick meal on my own before I went off to work, the young server Katie gave me my food and she was really nice, kind and made my experience that bit better, I think highly of this pub and recommend you to go

We didn't eat there as we booked somewhere else already, but the service was quick in comparison with other Wetherspoon bars even in the rush hours

Had breakfast sandwich but would have preferred cheddar cheese rather than American style. Good coffees but one machine served it hotter than other one. Had to ask for soap in Ladies toilets. Like local history boards.

Only called in for a beer, this Spoons does what Spoons do well, well kept ales, great atmosphere

Brilliant value and great food good atmosphere

It's a Wetherspoon. Fairly average as they go. Quite dirty and looking tired.

My lesagne was a bit burnt at the base. But the tika masala was nice as was the atmosphere.

Emily team leader is a great example of a young entrepreneur, extremely helpful,very friendly It's a shame we don't see more examples of this in life and society today. Well done Emily keep up the good work.

Greatpub for meals . Good value and good service.

Went out for a meal tonight at Wetherspoons Lichfield, and was impressed with the service shown by Katie who served us our meal, at the same time working extremely hard clearing lots of tables of glasses and plates, (obviously a very busy evening), finding the time to have a chat with our table of three people, very polite and very hard working, good to see people smiling whilst working Thank you Katie

Went for curry night on Thursday , very good food all hot and tasty 😋. As for the pub itself dirty glasses and plates everywhere, had to clear a table and wipe it myself (other people doing the same ) . Food being delivered promptly but at no point did any staff pick up anything as they went past full dirty tables .. need some training never go back to the bar empty handed , it is really common sense TBF 🧐🧐 .

Had a brilliant time and lots of cheerful people inside but to top it all off the server was amazing. Short wait time for the food and she came over with the best smile and positive attitude. Katie was the best !

Great ham egg and chips.. delicious enormous pizza. Friendly bar staff who tried to serve everyone promptly even though very busy. Tables cleared promptly. Lovely atmosphere

Friendly place good food and a variety of real ales to choose from. There is an outside seating area at the back of the premises. Toilets are on the ground floor and there is a toilet for the disabled. Suitable entrance for wheelchair users.

Food portions and the food in terms of flavour was poor. No detail needed as you can see for yourselves. We had asked a waiter/waitress to come and clean out the table. The first one came in and did a good job by cleaning the table of the plates but did not return to finish the job and then the second one who came to wipe down the table, asked us to wipe it down for them. At first glance, it was a mix of clean and cleared tables and messy, dirty tables. I saw numerous plates filled with food awaiting to be dished out to customers, which indicates slow service.

We had a traditional breakfast only Luke warm could have been a lot hotter and the bacon was raw needed to be cooked a lot longer

Went on a Thursday approx 2pm, it was busy hence staff rushed, queue at the bar, serving out of turn, 3/4 wait for fish and chips - lots of glasses stacked waiting to be cleaned. I realise it was busy and a peak time but we have been in other weatherspoons at similar busy times where the staff seemed to cope better notably Swadlincote as an example. Beer (Ruddles) tasted good.

The place was very dirty and in a state of disrepair. A baby vomited on the table next to us, and despite informing the staff, it took them half an hour to clean it up. During that time, people were sitting at the table before realizing the mess. The only positive aspect was the generous portion of onion rings and chips with the burgers.

Had a pint of Abbots and it tasted like vinegar. No thanks.

Enjoyed nice food and drinks in the beer garden. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Absolutely shocking service, I ordered food and a drink over an hour ago whilst it was bassicly empty on a Tuesday evening. Will not be coming back and advise people to never come here!!!

Recommend Friday's for food 12 until 2 , tables always clean and tidy. Kirk very hard worker along with Ellen, and James and Jermaine. Brilliant behind the bar.

Staff detailed to clear tables would have helped. Great to have toilets on the same floor as the bar and the outside seating was a bonus, as few actual smokers there. Pleased to see a simple curry available.
