We stopped by here to get a drink after visiting the station. Very empty when we arrived. It turns out that they had just closed for the afternoon. However, the gentleman behind the bar still served us. Cost £13.50 for a glass of wine and a pint of shandy though! Had our drinks outside as they locked up after we were served.

Its a lovely looking pub which we have frequented many times in the past (the standard of food has been variable over the years), we were with a party of 4 for evening dinner. Three of the meals were good value for money, the chips were really nice, however one of the meals was described as "Crispy tortilla chips loaded with nacho cheese sauce, guacamole, salsa, sour cream-style sauce, jalapeños and chopped chives.(£8.99)".And at an additional add on "Vegetable Chilli (£4.50)". What came was; a bowl of slop with no vegetable chilli, no real cheese, it was sent back asking for the £4.50 worth of vegetable chilli that wasn't on the plate. On return the dish looked exactly the same and I asked where is the vegetable chilli? the response was; those little brown bits there! (total of about 5 black beans, no vegetables at all!). so consequently it went back again and I was refunded for the meal, leaving me with no dinner as my friends had now finished theirs. (I ate a few chips they had left). I would recommend this food option be removed from the menu or at least provide the meal as described on the menu.

We've been going here for years and it used to be great but it is simply awful now. On our last visit we had to clear a table so we could sit somewhere. We only go now because of the 'free' coffees you get with the Dobbies Club but as the filthy state of the cafe and uncleared tables just wind us up we are probably going to cancel that next time round. The cafe just looks completely unloved and un-cared for. I don't blame the staff so much as the management - the few that there are must be completely demoralised.

Oh my word! Having been pulled in by the kerb-appeal of all the delicious-looking delights in the window, my partner and I hoped to find something nice for lunch. How disappointed we were....... This verged on a blend of Fawlty Towers and a Karen's Diner. There are warning-galore, all written on paper bags stuck over the walls and on the display areas. "Do not touch, this is not self-service, don't fiddle with the toaster settings, children and knives don't mix, we are not trained fire-fighters, no toilets here.....", all headed up by a small, rather stroppy and officious tyrant of a woman! I wondered what we had stumbled upon so headed for Tripadvisor and all was revealed! The reviews don't lie! I then amused myself over a bowl of mediocre soup and unremarkable bread, by reading the words of previous customers. I CONCUR! We ate our lunch squashed onto a pew with other equally bemused/ confused/ amused diners and made a speedy exit - my partner more speedy than me as he didn't want to risk her wrath at the till, heaven-forbid he did something wrong! I'm still not quite sure what we experienced and I don't think I'll return. Go for a nosy if you have broad shoulders and fancy taking on Miss Trunchbull of the bakery world!

Don’t get me wrong, I like The Trout and have had some excellent meals here however having visited family in Whitehaven and returning to Yorkshire we detoured to The Trout for something delicious to eat. Both opting for the Sunday roast with one having beautifully cooked beef, still pink in the middle I ordered the half roast chicken. It was neither roasted nor half a chicken but an unsliced flavorless chicken breast that at best was perhaps pan fried, I was disappointed. The gravy was more wine and herb flavoured as opposed to meat flavoured which again was a little disappointing. On the up though the vegetables were cooked well except the roasties needed to be crispier and the mash creamier. When next eating at The Trout on a Sunday I’m going to pass on the roast thank you. I noted previous reviews for the roast dinner were from 2020 and 2019 so a more current review I felt was necessary.

We had sandwiches off the lunch menu which were presented well and tasty. Service from waitress Holly was lovely. She was welcoming and attentive. Making sure our puppy had water and treats ! Shall return again for the same excellent service. Well done !

We were on a culinary tour of restaurants and pubs in Brighton. Both chefs with 30 years experience in food and beverage. We chose this place because it’s on the beach and our hotel was just across the road. We had to experience many places so had only one dish we went to in each place. On arrival the lady behind the bar couldn’t care less if we were there or not. Not even a hello. Looking at the staff, they seem to be chosen by looks rather than their customer service skills. We ordered the whitebait to share and 2 beers. One was a mango IPA which we had never heard of. It doesn’t taste of mango that’s for sure. We then went to sit at the table near the beach which was pleasant. The whitebait arrived promptly. Stuffed into a paper pouch and soon as we tipped it on the plate it was limp and soggy. It should be crispy. The jalapeño mayo was tasteless. Not a hint of spice. We wondered if it was just mayo? Also served with a tiny piece of dried out lime with no juice. Really poor.

Please don’t waste your money and time at the Weatherspoons NEC Birmingham. I paid over £30 for tuna ciabatta and burger and it was a load of crap.Took over 30 minutes and had to complain due to lack of tuna.It was replaced with a ciabatta with two slices of tomato only on one side. The burger was cold and staff totally clueless, never again, ruined my day at the caravan show.

I highly recommend this place and their Sunday Roast (make a reservation for the roast)! We started with a couple of pints and the Ibérico Ham Croquettes, served with aioli (£8 | $10.50 USD). I can best described them as three ground ham and cheese tater tots. They were delicious and made for a great start. For the main course, we both enjoyed the Aged Striploin Beef Roast. I loved that you could choose how it’s cooked (medium-well for me & medium-rare for Chris). This is not common from what I understand. Each roast comes with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, homemade Yorkshire pudding, and red wine jus. Everything was simply delightful (£19.5 | $25.59 USD). To finish, we shared the churros (4 count), served with cinnamon and chocolate sauce. A perfect sweet ending to the meal (£6.5 | $8.53 USD). We also added a side of Cauliflower Cheese (£5 | $6.56 USD), which was rich, creamy, and served molten hot but was the perfect complement to the roast.

Booked an Afternoon Tea treat for my mother. Service was so slow and I’d been given a sausage roll when I’d asked for no red meat, I got extra quiche!!. Appalling especially after so many allergy concerns in news recently!!! Waited so long for our hot drinks we’d pretty much finished our food. They had no profiteroles so got a lemon mousse, which I think was supposed to be on menu anyway! Not much effort went into this. Disappointed!
