Visited with my Aunty she wanted a toasted sandwich, I wanted pancakes from the breakfast menu, she was told she would have to wait for 10 mins as they were serving breakfast, I went to order and was told breakfast ordering had finished, I was a bit put out as about 5 mins before 4 men came in and had ordered breakfast, we both felt me and my Aunty that the staff seamed like they didn't want to be there, they seamed rushed off there feet and took ages to serve people there was hardly anyone in there, my Aunty and me both agreed we would nt like yo see the staff managing when the cafe was busy, there is hardly anything for adults to do at Hatton craft center it used to be a real treat to go up there and look around the shops but now it's dead when we visited there was only the garden centre and Christmas shop open, the highlight of the visit would have been going to the cafe but even that's disappointing and expensive

We stopped here for lunch on a Friday. No highchairs for children or a children's menu which for a family destination was disappointing. Expensive food. Dirty. The waiting staff were trying their best but it was utter chaos. So many people were complaining about the wait for drinks and food. I had to wait for the manager to take my order whilst she publicly shouted at her staff. The sandwiches on the afternoon tea were pre-packed. Not worth a visit.

Read other reviews and was worried. Arrived at 12 on a groupon booking and a member of staff explained how to order, we chose a table and ordered which sandwich we wanted. I ordered egg mayo and my daughter had bacon lettuce and tomato. We got 2 slices of bread each and a choice of 4 fillings. You choose 1 filling each. Our coffees arrived within 5 mins and our afternoon teas a couple of minutes later. We split our sandwiches and both were delicious. The fruit scone was very nice and the lemon drizzle was lovely. Did not like the chocolate dessert or the macaroon but that is my personal taste. This is not a luxury afternoon tea but that's not what you're paying for. I thought it was really nice food at a good price. The food other diners had, seemed to be good portions. I found the staff pleasant and polite

I booked an afternoon tea through Groupon as a little treat for my Mum for her birthday (with my 2 daughters 14 and 12) After reading some of the reviews after booking I was a bit worried as to whether I’d done the right thing, I had! We went this afternoon and had a lovely afternoon out. I have the world’s most fussiest children and asked to change the sandwiches, absolutely no problem! The staff were very pleasant and the food was really lovely (other than the lettuce with the sandwiches which was a bit limp and old looking, also a bit of cucumber and tomato wouldn’t go a miss) We actually left some of the food as there was so much! The place itself could do with some air conditioning/fans as it was very hot in there which made it very uncomfortable (but on a cooler day obviously this wouldn’t be a problem) Overall, it was a lovely afternoon tea (followed by a bit of shopping) and a lovely afternoon for my Mum’s birthday.

Slow, sullen service despite the number of staff. Given partially defrosted gluten free bread that we hadn't asked for and we're expecting fresh rolls. Unfortunately ruined a nice day out at Hatton, do not recommend it at all. Take sandwiches and your own drinks. Another family had complained when we were there and they had been waiting over an hour for just sandwiches. Will not be visiting again.

On a trip to Hatton Country World we called into the Spinning Jenny for some lunch and was sadly very disappointed We joined the queue to order and some 10 minutes later we were able to order One prawn and Creyfish sandwich and one BBQ Chicken wings, would you like some chips with that? OK One portion of chips We sat and waited for over 20 minutes before our food arrived, minus the chips! When questioned was told the chips were being cooked Eat the chicken wings while still hot before the chips finally arrived While the food was OK the service was very poor indeed with lots of staff appearing to be doing very little The set up seemed to be somewhat disjointed and not well organised, would hate to go when it's busy

We were at Hatton Adventure World so following a recommendation decided we’d eat here. My son and I had afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco. My grandson had a milkshake and jacket potato. My grandson’s milkshake came first and he was delighted with it followed shortly after with his jacket potato with cheese and baked beans. Unfortunately the baked beans are mixed beans not haricot beans and watercress was also on his plate. My grandson’s autistic so we thought he may refuse to eat it but he let us remove the watercress and we said the kidney beans (there were only three) must have got on his plate accidentally. We didn’t point out the fact there were other types of beans. My grandson got tucked in and enjoyed his food. Our afternoon tea came after a lengthy wait. When we’d ordered we hoped we had a mix of sandwiches because there is a variety on the menu but no you choose one filling and that’s it. I’d chosen bacon which were fresh and tasty my son had tuna and cucumber - fresh but lacking in filling and flavour. We’d chosen fruit scones which were served warm and fresh there’s a choice of fruit or cheese. The mini dessert in the glass I found unpleasant and would ask you not to include again. The lemon cake and macaroon were also delicious. My son ordered a side of chips which were fresh spuds not frozen chips and some of the best chips I’ve had in a while. Disappointed it was a mug of tea and coffee because I’d have like a refill. Certainly recommend and will return.

Lovely sunny day, very impressed with how Hatton has changed since we last came a while back so decided to finish off a nice day with a lovely lunch. Unfortunatly, it spoilt our day. No sandwiches to speak of, all main meals, unless you have afternoon tea. Drinks arrived and the Longhorn (gorgeoys ale from Purity Brewery) was flat and looked awful, and my Pepsi the same! Food arrived and a steak baguette was swimming in sauce, chips quite fatty....shame. Outside was nice area to dine, inside was like a naff canteen and the choice of drinks was shocking! Won't return.

My Husband and I had a table booked for 12pm, we had ordered by 12.05, Very annoyed that on the Groupon details it states you get a choice of 2 sandwhich fillers to then find that its actually only 1 sandwich filler. About 10 minutes later the mug of coffee and small pot of tea arrived to our table along with 1 teeny jug of milk that we had to share between the 2 of us, we were told that the sugar is 'over there' as she pointed her finger towards the opposite side of the restaurant, from that moment I thought oh dear ! 😕 12.30 came and we still had not received our food, so my husband went over to the counter to enquire of its whereabouts to be told it will be 5 minutes, as I was facing towards the counter I could clearly see that they had forgotten us and suddenly this young lady was tearing about making our food. It arrived 5 minutes later, the girl attempted to apologise by saying 'everyone arrived for food at once - feeble excuse as the place was very quiet when we arrived, it only started filling up about 12.20pm, so I made a point of saying that I had booked in advance. Also by this time we had both drank our drinks as they would have been cold anyway if we had saved them to have with our food, so my husband asked for a fresh pot of tea, the girl came back with a topped up tea pot with the same blooming tea bag in it !!! 😣 It eventually arrived with my Sandwiches on my husband's cake stand so I had to reorganise that so we had the right food. The food was basic, not at all the traditional afternoon tea that I love, plus eating it with a mouth as dry as Gandhi's flip flop due to the lack of coffee isn't easy to eat a plate of sandwiches and cake ! It was more a lazy person who can't be bothered to take the time to make a decent afternoon tea, plus you had to go and fetch your own knife for your scone ! 😮 Thank goodness I only paid Groupon price ! I'd have felt ripped off if I'd paid the full price. The place needs staff that can be bothered ! The young girls are far too busy having a natter between themselves, there was a table with dirty cups etc on at the time we sat down at 12.05 and it was still there when we left at 1.20pm. We will not be returning, so sad it turned out to be so poor.

We reserved a table a few days before our visit, we found upon arrival that this was pointless, as we were told to find a table ourselves. This was difficult as every unoccupied table was cluttered with dirty crockery and the remains of other customers food, we found a table with least dirty crocks on it and had to clear it ourselves and then had to ask for a cloth to wipe down the table ourself, how embarrassing in front of our friends we had invited to join us.

There are some serious service issues at this restaurant! I waited 20 minutes in line to order the food. We waited 50 minutes and there still wasn’t any sign of our food but the table next to us who arrived 15 minutes after us got theirs. We could see that food had been sat under the hot plate for 25 minutes and asked if it was ours. It was brought over and as you could imagine was rock hard and congealed. We asked for a refund as I wasn’t prepared to eat somewhere that clearly has poor food hygiene. I then had to wait 10 minutes for my refund because I wasn’t the only person complaining. My advice would be to take a picnic! In the meantime my diabetic NaN took a funny turn so we had to stop and get her a packet of crisps.

Had a voucher for afternoon tea and was really looking forward to it. Phoned up to reserve a table, there was actually no point as we didn’t have a table reserved when we got there and had to wait for one to become available. We were then told to queue up to show our groupon voucher, had to queue for 10-15 minutes, sorted the voucher out then had to queue AGAIN to order?! What a poor system!

Called for afternoon tea and was very disappointed. The ambience was poor i.e. tables were painted "old type" kitchen tables. The food presented was poor quality I.e. I requested Red Leicester cheese with spring onions sandwich and a ham sandwich ( both of which were on the menu). I was served cheese "spread" with no visible signs of Red Leicester or spring onion. The ham was of poor quality and very thin (which I would normally refer to as, "plastic ham"). All was served with thick sliced bread. NB we noted the lettuce included with the sandwich had signs of brown suggesting it was old and possibly out of date. The staff need training on how to present an afternoon tea menu. I will not return to this restaurant.

My friend and I went to Spinning Jenny Cafe for lunch yesterday and wish we had not bothered. I asked for a cheese sandwich but was told that I could not have one as sandwiches were only served in the afternoon tea! I never realized making a simple sandwich was beyond the staff, even though I pointed out to the disinterested lady behind the counter that I could see a member of staff actually making sandwiches behind her! I ordered a bacon and brie panini for my friend but after a very long wait, the place was not busy, she was brought a panini with a different filling. By this time we were so disillusioned that we left vowing never to return to such a poor establishment.

Went as a goup so expected some delay. Meal arrived after nearly an hour and it was cold. How they managed to get it cold after waiting so long I have no idea. Asked waitress if we could have it warmed up and she just scowled and took the plates. Waited nearly half an hour and after asking twice got meals back. They were a bit warmer but were horrible. My fish was jjst a white watery mush and the chips were so hard I couldn’t put the fork in them. My husband’ssausages were tasteless and the mash was powdery. Some friends of ours had pulled pork which was so dry and hard they could not chew it. First and last visit methinks.

Visited as a family. The place is just a cafe - not a tea room so the afternoon tea experience was lost instantly, amid the smells of everything imaginable being cooked there. Only allowed one drink, no refill. We chose red Leicester cheese with onion and egg and cress sandwiches which were appalling (see photos) the 'cheese' was a filler type with so much mayonnaise you couldn't find any cheese. The egg had no cress. They offer nicer fillings for their panini - why can't these be offered for the afternoon tea? The scones were dense and chewy and the teaspoon of cream provided was NOT clotted cream. You had to get your own cutlery and napkins from across the room. The cafe very busy so you feel rushed and guilty to be using a seat while other customers are pacing around looking to dine. All in all if you are looking for your traditional afternoon tea experience this is not the place.

I came here early in the day when a few of the shops here in the shopping village were yet to open, so not the best time for a full proper review as i was the first customer. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the place was clean and given its proximity to Hatton Country World (Not been to before.) i can believe this place can get really busy in peak times. I had a sausage sandwich and pot of Tea to kick start my day and both were delivered in good time. Some restaurants struggle with first customer as they are not always ready but certainly seems to not be the case here. First impressions are that I really like this place and will be back at some point. Probably when the Christmas Fayre is on.

When queried it then took nearly 15 minutes and us asking again to find out that our food was given to the wrong table. When we finally got our food the chips were stone cold and the panini was so hard that I could barely bite it. If you don't mind the risk of growing old while you wait for your food then you'll probably like this place. Set in Hattons country world amongst quirky shops, we brought my mother in law here for a mothers day meal. The food was really nice but the service and cleanliness were dreadful. Tables weren't cleared, you had to do that yourself as no one appeared to be doing that. Tables never got a wipe so sticky and dirty. Lots of staff meandring about but couldn't work out what they were actually doing. One lady on the til taking orders and making drinks very very slowly. Poor unattentive service really lets this place down.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday with my brother, husband and elderly father. My father only wanted a basic sandwich (egg and cress) so I asked if they could make him one, as if ordering an afternoon tea this is one of the sandwiches on offer. We were told that unfortunately they could not make an egg and cress sandwich. The restaurant was virtually empty apart from two other customers. I just can't understand how inconvenient it would have been to have spread two pieces of bread and put the filling on it. As a result, we went and found the other little snack cafe. The Spinning Jenny lost custom for the sake of a small sandwich.
