Great pub with a cracking vibe, some really good beers for the real ale lovers. Don’t be put off by the outside as the inside is warm and friendly.

In planning our spring road trip we were recommended to read about this amazing pub venue in Newark..,we loved the idea, so decided to build the trip around a gig there…and Newark itself..What a place!! Great staff , superb vibe, reasonable beer..Tony and the boys have done a superb job, don’t miss out.. As they say, if you like good music and good beer, with friendly clientele to boot, make sure you go there.. brilliant

Love this pub, great selection of ales and forign beers. no nonsence pub selling great beers with no nonsence decor, which we like. Hate all the stainless steel and glass and frills type of places. 5 minute walk from the market place, worth seeking out if you want a decent beer or two

This is a great pub with the finest selection of ales and beers going. Don’t expect to get a meal, but if you want a good evening out in a pub with a good friendly crowd, and a great selection of ales, then this is probably your place. Can be a bit crowded when they have music.

I always visit the Flying Circus when in Newark. It's got loads of character but the highlight is the great selection of beers. Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy a beer and a proper pub.

Nice place to sit for a few drinks, bar has plenty of choice of craft and keg beers which are changed on a regular, basis so there is always something new to try. Staff are friendly and there’s often live music. Definitely worth a stop off on the Newark real ale trail you might be tempted to stay a while!

Very good pub, especially for those who like to listen to good rock or blues while enjoying their pint. The only place of this type in Newark. My only disappointment arises from very limited selection of food.

We like the IPAs available and some of the beers. To a certain extent paying a premium was not a problem. Thankfully other local establishments are catching up with the beers and most are head and shoulder above the Flying Circus when it comes to customer service. It is a shame that there is no attempt to make people feel welcome and when we raised an issue with some wine the response was 'well we sell lots of it!'. In short we will only be back if every pub in newark closes along with the supermarkets.

Called in as The Flying Circus was part of the Newark Civil War Ale Trail; unfortunately it was the worst of the six pubs we visited that day - very average ale and the bar staff appeared disinterested in our custom.

Weeks holiday so visited many places this one definitely needs a cleaner. Went in mid morning and the chairs were thick dust round under the seats also seats need a clean. Floor looked like it had not been swept or mopped for weeks. Table was tacky and also unclean. Plus side beer my husband had was good he said.

Really liked the quirky nature of this bar, however listening to the regulars rip a group of trans people apart after they left ruined the atmosphere for me. Will not come back. Avoid if you are an open minded person with a live and let live attitude.

Visited with a group of friends, all the ales were of good quality both on draft and keg. The place was busy and all the staff were helpful and friendly baring one. A woman refused to serve one of our party some tap water with ice as she wasn't feeling to well and said she had to buy bottled water. This was the only place in Newark that did this, shame really as it spolit our visit.

We started off our evening with a visit to the Flying Circus and had a pint of Hairy Helmet Ale and a White Wine Spritzer accompanied by a locally sourced pork pie. We were so impressed by this wonderful little pub that we returned the next day for their legendary Cuban Sandwich for lunch before beginning our journey home.

I absolutely love the flying circus. I regularly attend this pub for the wide selection of drinks, a lot of which that you cannot get from elsewhere in Newark. It has a lovely atmosphere, a nice outdoor seating area and very friendly staff however I think even all of this is overshadowed by the phenomenal Cuban sandwich! My friends and I absolutely love this sandwich, it is incredible value for money and so tastey I would definitely recommend that people stop by and that you order one of those. Highly recommend this pub!

On our way home from Newark having popped into a few other pubs and walked straight out as they were far more akin to a creche'... what has happened to a relaxing pint in a local pub... We popped into the flying circus... good music - wonderful selection of beers... in fact too many... though no problem as the landlord provided a taste of a few before deciding I would have a 'punch in the face'! definitely going to become a regular haunt... too many places in Newark have decided to cater for the masses and sacrificed their integrity and USP... not here, good on you Flying Circus... we'll definitely be back.

We were wandering around Newark and on a small outdoor sign "Cuban Sandwich", well had to go try one. It was authentic (bread was not right though), unlike a restaurant in Nottingham who had a Cuban sandwich on their menu.Beer is excellent. Service was great, thanks Heidi! Music was great as well and the pub decor "fun"!

Stopped in with family and dog to get out of the cold. Very pleasant surprise.Great selection of beers with something to suit every taste. Picked the "Bad Kitty" which was a delicious dark ale which could have happily sat drinking all day. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable regarding the ales. Allowed our dog (big dog!) into the bar and he got alot of fuss, treats and water.Quirky decor but really suited the place well. Warm and very welcoming unlike alot of pubs that can feel abit "clinical" and pretentious. If you want a great homely welcome and fantastic beer, pop in.

This place is great!! An absolute must-visit whether you’re a Monty Python fan or not. The standard of decoration throughout is playful and bright with cheeky references such as “Romans Go Home” in Latin on the wall outside and a dead parrot in the corner. The craft beer selection is just as playful with unusually-named tipples such as “Beavertown Gamma Ray” on offer. Many, many beers available that I’ve never seen anywhere else, never mind in the rest of Newark! The staff were all very nice and helpful, and have clearly “bought-in” to the comedy atmosphere of the place. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their beers! Food is on offer but we didn’t sample it on this visit - looked alright though!

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
