We had a meal here, not been for a while, was not as good as previous visits, not bad, just not up to usual standard, our steaks seemed to be of poorer quality, maybe it was us, seemed quiet, service was ok, never thought was brilliant, still a decent place to eat.

We have just returned from a weekend stay in Sherwood Lodge at the back of Redbrick House. There are 5 lodges in total so quite a quiet park all with stunning views of the woodland and the lake. Sherwood Lodge is gorgeous. Very spacious, very luxurious and the lay out is fantastic. The hot tub is great and you feel as though you are in a tree house when sat it in with the view of the woods. The decking is perfect for sitting out with a drink or dining al fresco with a view. The master suite was the icing on the cake. Not only a fantastic sized room with gorgeous en suite bathroom but also a walk in dressing room with enormous wardrobes and a dressing table AND it's own balcony. Lots to do in the area. We visited the beautiful Newark on Trent and (of course) Sherwood Forest during our stay We loved it and hope to return in the future.

Recently ate here for Sunday lunch, food very good plenty of good quality meat (I had Beef) and good choice of veg. I'm afraid it was all let down by inattentive, lacklustre service. We wasn't asked if we wanted any sauces (i.e. mint sauce for my wife's lamb and mustard for my beef). Our plates were just thrown in front of us and the waitresses rushed off. What a shame, perhaps been a long week.

Just come back from a fantastic weekend break in one of the lodges located behind the Redbrick House hotel. The lodge is spacious with 3 en-suite bedrooms, a cosy log burner surrounded by 3 comfy settees and an amazing covered hot tub . The food at the hotel restaurant was gorgeous. Nothing was too much trouble ( especially Amy who went over and above to help us). To make the stay perfect (5 star)bathrobes and slippers in each room to use and fluffier towels. Will certainly be visiting again😄😄😄

It is a long time since we have been here but we were not disappointed. Athough the menu is quite small, there is something to suit most tastes. We had olives with bread and dipping sauces for starter to share. It came very well presented on a slate with lovely warm, freshly baked ciabatta type bread, a pot of olives, a pot of balsamic with olive oil, a pot of sweet chilli sauce, a pot of tomato, mint and red onion salad and a beutifully dressed salad on the side. It was delicious. We both chose the sirloin steak for main - one medium and one medium rare - which were cooked to perfection. They came with the most delicious chips I have had for a long time, field mushroom, tomato and peas. My husband had a green peppercorn sauce and I had Welbeck stilton sauce. The sauces were both stunning. Although full, my husband could not resist the apple and mixed berry crumble with custard, which he said was delicious. I had a rhubarb and raspberry tart which came with vailla icecream - so tasty. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. The staff were friendly, the service was good and the food outstanding.

A late booking of a single room found me choosing the the Redbrick. Upon arrival greeted by a friendly member of staff who checked me in. The single room was actually suitable as a double.. Comfy double bed with decent views out the two windows. The room was rather spacious and the ensuite was extremely clean and tiday. In fact it looked as though the place had just been refurbed. With checkout at 10:30 am it was certainly an opportunity to take part in a little snooze in the morning, but the maid walking in... so lock your door at night...

11 colleagues visited the Redbrick House on 20th May 2015. The meal was excellent, the service a little slow but not enough to complain about. They had another large party at the same time and also people in the hotel side. The staff was very friendly and did their best to accommodate us. We will certainly go again and would recommend it for other parties.

took my son and his family for Sunday lunch. Despite having a nine month old baby with us they coped well and provided us with extra space & a high chair with nothing too much trouble. Excellent food off a menu with good choices and we were not rushed from one course to another which is how we like it.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch on Monday 30 March and we had not prebooked. Booked for the Wednesday evening for my husband's 60th birthday for five of us. The table had been decorated for us which was a complete surprise. Service was excellent even though they had a very large retirement party in, we were looked after very well and were not kept waiting. Plenty of choice on the menu, good specials board. Will definitely dine there again and will certainly recommend.

Tried to book a nearby restaurant for Sunday lunch, which was fully booked, so went here as the one available and therefore did not expect much. We were very pleased from the moment we arrived and will definitely be going back, with this as our new first choice. The atmosphere is good and the red theme gave a modern feel to the place. The service was quick and very efficient, and the menu choice was good and varied. There was a good range of starter courses and the fish option we chose was enjoyed by all. The vegetables with the main course were cooked perfectly for my taste and the quantity was more than ample. The meat was also excellently cooked and good in quality and quantity. The third course offers a good and varied choice and all four of us had a different option and they were all delightful. For good service in a pleasant atmosphere, with brilliant food I would recommend anyone to try this venue.

We stayed at the hotel for my partner's 40th birthday and booked the restaurant too. Asked for a discount for using their facility while we stayed but they did not offer any discount as they said we had a discounted room (which we didnt we had paid full price). the staff were very helpful and it was quiet and pleasant surroundings. we went for the kiev special which was only £6.95 which is a bargain. the kiew however was very dry but the homemade chips were delicious but it came with no kind of sauce. we also went for the tagliatelle on the specials but even for £7 the portion size was rather small. tasted lovely though. we had a mussels starter which was nice also. We had a dessert each which was a decent size portion but we had no idea what price the dessert was as there was no price on the menu. again that was tasty and plenty of cream too.overall the staff and prices were really good but the food quality was not what i expected when i had seen pictures on the internet but it was still nice for the price.

The staff were very friendly and gave great service in every way. The food was expensive looking and very tasty, the kind of food you would see in top restaurants. Very fairly priced(cheaper than most pubs)!!. We couldn't find a single fault to pick in any way about this restaurant. A well deserved 5 stars from me, and I will be going back. My husband and I went to Redbrick House for a meal on a weeknight in mid June. I understand there is a new chef who was trying new meals so the menu had changed. This was one of the best meals we have had. I tried a chicken dish from the specials board and my husband had steak. The chicken was excellent and my husband said the steak was one of the best he had had. The chef also came out and asked us how we found the meal which we thought was really nice. Staff were excellent and service was good. The restaurant is modern and attractive and it is nice that there is such a lovely lawned area to sit and have a drink. Well worth a visit. I understand the chef intends to develop the menu for the restaurant and try new things including themed nights - we will definitely return. Oh yes, prices were reasonable too and portion sizes were good.

We had happy memories of Redbrick House from several years ago. The menu used to be excellent and the service friendly whilst remaining professional. What a shock we had on our return for Xmas fayre lunch! The place has had a 'spruce up' but everything else has hit rock bottom. We had the misfortune to have to complain to the owner of the establishment (Doreen, I believe her name was). How such an arrogant, insulting woman can even show her face let alone argue (and embarrass) with customers in the middle of the restaurant is beyond me. I won't be sorry to see this place close down in the hope that someone else with the right attitude can attempt to bring back it's former glory. I pity the poor staff who do try hard to keep the place afloat because it's no effort from the management.

We hadn't been here for some years, but felt happy to return because we'd had several enjoyable meals here when visiting relatives nearby. There have been some external changes to the place, but it seems much the same inside, spacious and bright, with comfortable seating and clean, if small, tables. Some of the staff may have been there when we last visited, too. From that point onward, the changes began to be evident. We were invited to sit in the bar area while we looked at a menu - we could have composed and printed the menu before anyone came near us again. Having ordered our food, we were left to sit in the bar for another half-hour before being shown to a table which, despite the fact that the place was nearly empty, was right beside a doorway through which staff were passing every few minutes, accompanied by kitchen noise and smells. When this became irritating, and before our food arrived, we tried to attract the attention of waitressses who, even though passing within inches, somehow managed to miss our waves and vocal attempts. Eventually, we moved to another table further from the doorway, only to see what was evidently our food being brought to our original table by a perplexed waitress who did an abrupt u-turn and disappeared back to the kitchen, complete with food, without noticing us waving at her a few feet away.Having sorted out the mishap, our food was brought to us and, as we'd feared, it was barely describable as 'warm'. At this point, I made my dissatisfaction known, discreetly, to the lady who appeared to be in charge. She apologised, made excuses about shortage of staff, chefs being ill and so on, then offered us a complimentary glass of wine while she 'sorted everything out properly'. We accepted, and waited a further half-hour before food arrived. This time, it was hot and freshly-cooked, but not what we'd ordered. By that time, I was too disappointed (and hungry) to argue further, so we ate our meals in gloom. The food was unremarkable but passable. Our opinions were, understandably, much influenced by the service, but our memories are of much better standards in all respects. We won't be eating there again.

We were staying at the redbrick lodges so visited the restaurant for sunday lunch. We had to wait 20 minutes before being shown to a table and had to wait in the bar. The menu was a sheet of A4 paper straight out of the computer, we had to order whilst waiting for a table. I don't know why we had to wait so long for a table as there only half a dozen occupied. Altogther we waited 40 minutes for the main course to arrive, the accompanying vegetables are brought to you by a waitress who then serves them to you before taking them away. The portions were very small and its the first time I've seen mushy peas served with a roast dinner. The roast potatoes were undercooked too. We asked for gravy as it did not come as standard, we were half of a small gravy boat between 3 adults. The dessert menu was printed on a scrap of thin paper, though the desserts themselves were delicious. I can highly recommend the chocolate overload cake! The service was surly at best, and there were several members of staff walking around, but they didn't clear any tables whilst we were there. Approximately half the restaurant has dirty crockery on the tables. The decor is black and red, it treads a fine line between classy and trashy. This is a place which is impressive from the outside and seems to want to be at the upper end of the market but without any idea of how to deliver it. The main courses were overpriced for what they were, its somewhere we won't be returning to as there are several other local places to choose from which couldn't be any worse.

We visited for a family meal, it was our first and last time. They are reluctant to leave any condiments or accompaniments on the table, instead they serve you vegetables and sauces before taking them away again. An odd selection of vegetables including mushy peas. Service was incredibly slow, over half an hour In between courses with no apology for the long wait. The dessert did redeem things slightly but not enough to make us want to return. A very disappointing meal all round.

We ate here earlier this year with a view to maybe booking our post-wedding meal here, but it was awful from he moment we entered. Black and red plastic decor which looks like a throwback from the 80's, it wasn't clear whether we were to sit down at a table or wait to be seated, a waitress walked past us and didn't acknowledge we were there, we sat down and a menu was brought, with a pretty uninspiring choice, we still didn't know whether to order at the bar, but as no one came to take our order we assumed so, only to be told to go and sit back down so someone could take the order! The food was pretty average, and really over priced for what it was (and we don't mind paying for quality), the waitress cleared our plates and we asked for a dessert menu, hoping we could salvage the evening, and we never saw her again!Needless to say we paid and left, vowing never to go back. Gutted. In essence, there are many more better value and much better quality places to eat in Edwinstowe, where good service and great food are at the fore.

The bar and restaurant have been refurbished in the modern stye of black plastic and bright red, with the restaurant and bar now being open plan, rather than 2 separate areas, as before. This now results in one noisy room, with the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of the previous restaurant now completely gone. In fact, my first impression on walking through the door was a cross between a modern Japanese restaurant and McDonalds. There is nothing actually wrong with the food but the home-cooked quality has now been replaced (and obviously so) by Brakes suppliers (or similar) as exampled by the 'stout' paté in its little shot glass. The warm sauce part of 'profiteroles covered in warm chocolate sauce' was not evident as this had come straight out of the fridge. If any part of the menu hadn't been cooked, it was icy cold. Too cold.I'm not sure who their target market is - every time I have been (several successful times before the refurbishment) there was no-one under 40. So if they are running a restaurant which is visited by mostly older and retired people, why is the decor aimed at juveniles? Sorry but we won't be going again.

One thing i have noticed is, we often see the same customers whenever we go, so to keep having repeat visitors like that, shows that it is a good place to eat.The mixed grill is my husbands favorite, whilst mine is the surf and turf, or steak. I can hardly ever manage a dessert, the portions are really big, and i hate to waste any of it so I settle for a nice liquor coffee instead.

What a disappointment, the front of house and bar staff really let this place down. From the bar staff who insisted that diet coke to the top of a tall glass would cost more then a measure 3/4 full, through to the consistent failure of the staff throughout the night. It was a shame as the food was actually quite nice on the whole. The staff failed to ask if we would like any wine or present a wine list, failed to ask if we would like any more drinks through the meal and finally at the end, failed completely to bring the bill despite being asked when we could get a member of staff's attention. I had to get up and find another member of staff, whilst the majority of waiting staff were talking together in the front bar. The management here need to get their act together and sort this apathetic staffing policy.

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
