Great place. Town centre pub with a very nice atmosphere, both for families and for sports fans, or just for a casual drink. Lots of tables, inside and out, pool table, plenty of big screens showing all the main sports fixtures, and lovely food. Not to mention a good selection of beers and fast, friendly service.

This review is not for the food or service but definitely the atmosphere. My teenage son worked here around college and constantly seemed to be at work. Very busy until he decided he did not want to participate in secret Santa. He was belittled and moaned at and yes he probably should have done it but then...all his shifts disappeared off the work app... all of them. He was even scheduled for xmas day so I decided not to do a family xmas dinner. Then xmas eve every shift vanished and after xmas he was offered 6 hours for the whole month. Prejudice behaviour.. maybe a word to acas is needed So after putting my review the pub said they have tried to contact him. Yes you have removed him from group chats for shifts and emailed him for a disciplinary after my review. Shocking behaviour... way to treat a teenager. Why does he need a disciplinary after not turning up for the 3 hour shift you gave him after removing all his other shifts. Let's me add that his brother worked there and you also removed his shifts for spite...all over one of them not wanting to do secret Santa. Managers should be sack for prejudice. In fact I think I now will contact acas

We had coffee and bacon sarnies but no complaints plenty of bacon and the coffees were spot on

Large pub town pub. Plenty of screens if your a sports fan. Reasonable selection of real ale, always in kept in good condition

Never been here before but to me first impressions count the inside was lovely well lit and really clean, the guy who served me Chris was really good, polite welcoming and asked about allergies when I ordered food. Ordered breakfast this came piping hot and well presented not as expensive as I thought it would be thank you for a great start to my visit to Newark

What can I say we had breakfast coffee was good breakfast looked great (no mushrooms) service great but all I can say is later in the afternoon both felt terrible bad stomach pains and lots of rushing to toilet,would I recommend (No)

This has been our go-to eatery when visiting Newark in the past. We've always appreciated the variety on the menu and the value for money. It's been a couple of years since we last went, but our recent visit was disappointing; fewer options (much of which unavailable on the day of our visit) and prices definitely pushed upwards. If the food had been good then we wouldn't have minded, but what turned up - eventually as is was a long wait - was poorly cooked, not as advertised and/or a small portion. I appreciate that it's a tough time of year to balance high demand and shortage of deliveries, but if youre charging usual prices then I dont think it's unreasonable to expect the sane service. Sadly, despite what appeared to be some hard working staff, I don't think we'll be back.

Definitely cool Peroni served here tastes delicious. I cannot say that about mojito drinks. Even in Old Post Office one can get two glasses of a drink pretending mojito.

First things first. I do like The Old Post Office and yesterday when I went in there I noticed the refurb and new wall paper and lights, which are a nice touch. I also noticed the food prices had gone up substantially, maybe with the fact that Wetherspoons has now shut leaving nowhere else for punters to go or the price hike is to pay for the refurb I'm not sure, still I decided to eat hoping the food quality also increased in line with the inflated cost. Unfortunately the food quality / portion control is the same as always, now you just pay more for it. £18 for 2 very small subs with less than a handful of chips is just not good value for money I'm afraid. It's a nice pub to sit in and have a drink in, but as for eating I think next time I'll go to the chippy on the high street.

Went today for a Christmas meal of 16 people. Food was amazing no complaints, came out in good time and staff was very attentive. Also needed wheelchair access and high chair and all was provided. No faults thanks again 🙂

Normally the food was very nice as well as staff but on this occasion found a hair in my dinner which they wanted to refund me for a drink of coke staff all talking behind the bar not really doing anything felt like they didn't want to be there partner burger was very oily was not rested and will definitely not be returning 19.11.23

Called in for Supper, chose 3 small plates as starters from a varied selection, Pate, Chicken Goujons and Battered Prawns. Wife chose Festive Macoroni cheese with Pigs in blankets and shredded Turkey for her main but as it was a newly introduced menu an error occured and she got a standard Mac n cheese ! We brought this to the attention of the manager who swiftly remedied the mix up and gave my Wife a complimentary drink whilst she waited. 5 star service, food was good value, would recommend.

Sadly, it was a disappointment all round. I'll start by stating I was charged twice by their app. Hopefully my bank/vendor resolves it, it's not a problem but it was a bad, unwanted start to a terrible lunch. Ordered chicken chorizo croquettes, they looked like toes mid cremation. Pretty burnt, I imagine they taste fantastic. Also 3? For nearly £7? I've never done drugs but I feel I need to as to understand how you can charge that for such a small portion. Cheesy garlic bread aka the dryest flip flop in the desert. I know it can be hard to make the perfect g-bread but when you have to snap it and dust from said bread enters the breathable atmosphere, you've gotta reconsider the time you cook that. Mains wise, BBQ Mac burger, as well as a cheese and bacon burger. I know burgers well, I'm no Gordon Ramsay but I am fat (ok I'm not that fat) and love burgers. I've eaten thousands. My brother in Christ, that burger was rank. Like if I had to decide between that again and my own excrement (with garnish obviously) you know, it would be tough choice. My wife is like a Dyson, pure food vacuum, but picture is what she left. I'm as surprised as you, but genuinely one of the worst meats ever. What is going on there? I mentioned the double payment (ironic as I wish I didn't even pay once) which was dealt with as well as the pandemic. Too little, not enough ownership, 'dont know' - you know how it went. I really feel for the young lad, I stated I paid twice, plz fix, he said he'd ask the manager. Fair, he did, and he came back with 'its pending, it'll sort itself' And if it doesn't? 'dont know' You don't mess with people's money, I'm more annoyed the manager didn't come and say anything, just left it to this poor lad. I was more than nice because it's not his fault but management should deal with that, not the knife and fork delivery service guy. Sound like a Karen right now but if you mess with people's money when they have very little (not myself but can't imagine others on low incomes coping with that) then you'll have some super upset angry folk. All in all really disappointed with the visit. I know you stated you are low on staff that day and that my guys is fine. I don't mind waiting. I do however mind being served garbage. Hopefully some helpful words there. Edit - have reached out as requested - heard nothing.

Our first visit here today. So much space! Friendly service. Great prices. Food was good but only discovered after tucking in that we didn't actually get the food we ordered 😂 Will certainly visit again 🙂

Went to watch football . It was a lovely experience. Sophie behind the bar was absolutely lovely and speedy and helpful!

We have not eaten at the Old Post Office.....and will not be doing so in the future. From the management down this establishment is so poorly operated. A waiter in football shorts (!!!) so many uncleared tables and what was cleared was stacked at the end of the bar. All this after waiting an age to even get served. Come on, Stonegate, sort this out.

This is the second time weve been to a "it's your pub" franchise and I have to say your very skimpy on the portion size. My lasagna was the size of your salt shaker in a massive black bowl. The chips were freezing and the bar staff didn't bother bringing our drinks so my husband had to go and grab them. Yeah we won't be returning

So pleased to have found this pub! We were visiting Newark with 4 dogs between us, and we wanted somewhere to watch the rugby. This place made us so welcome, it is very spacious, so the dogs were relaxed and well behaved! Great service, nice food, good beer. We'll definitely be returning. Thanks guys 😊

Blooming awful food don’t do it regardless how desperate you are. I should have gone to the kebab house up the road. How can anywhere not be able to cook chips??? Chicken burger was awful and they tried to clear my mates plate before he’d even finished. Tables sticky too. Also took 10 mins to find ketchup.

Food was hot and tasty, and served quickly despite the pub being busy. The team were friendly and the pub being dog friendly was a bonus!

Bit off a mixed bag, really. We went for lunch, that's me, my wife and my parents who are in their eighties. The service from ordering to the food arriving on the table was very slow, although it's a big venue it wasn't overly crowded. I asked for a medium rare stake and got a well-done one. But as I was hungry, I ate it. My mum had fish and chips, and, at first sight, it looked nice and we all commented on the huge size of the fish. But when she attempted to cut into it. The batter was very hard. And despite looking huge, had a very small amount of fish inside. My mum mentioned this to the barmen, who, to be fair, sorted complimentary deserts for the whole table. The place is nice and clean with plenty of T V screens if you are a sports fan. And it boasts an impressive looking beer garden. The toilets are clean and not smelly. I always find this a bonus. They also have a radar toilet.

Ordered our food at the bar. People were ordering food after I placed my order. Receiving their food first. Had to ask twice where my order was. Even said when I placed my order we were catching a bus in one hour.

I recently booked a table for the England Women's football game and the the service was great from the initial phone call and on the actual day. They were very accommodating when I had to change the time. The pub was organised, clean, airy and very family orientated and the staff were lovely. Thank you 😊

I don’t know why there are so many harsh reviews of this place, huge pub lovely beer garden and good quality food for a low price. Plenty of seating with loads of screens for sport as well! Right in middle of Newark centre, vegetarian and a couple of GF options available and dog friendly! What more could you want, cheers Liam for your great service today!

Absolutely terrible. Food was awful, infact we go a refund. Such a shame but we certainly won't be eating in there again.

We had a good visit, Tuesday early teatime, there was no one in to be honest but ser ice was very quick and the food was great. I think this will become a local for us

This large venue offers multiple seating options. With more TV’s than beer taps it’s a great place to catch a game. Pool tables down the back, family’s welcome. The food was excellent and the service friendly.

First of all the Food is A Tier and arrived at my table fairly quickly. The service was excellent, the staff were always so attentive. The music on Saturday night was brilliant and definitely took the edge off after a busy week 10/10 would come again

Hi, we arrived at approx 6pm for drinks before our meal at the Indian, absolute carnage, empty glasses all over the bar, inside and outside and crockery still on the tables and cutlery on the floor! One person serving and two staff sitting in the bar area on mobile phones and two staff outside, presumably on breaks. We even had to clean our own table! Not a great experience. Plus point the drinks were good👍. Thanks Paul

I came here at 17.50pm on the 15th of July 2023 the place was disgusting empty glasses at each end of the bar loads outside dirty plates on tables 1 member of staff on the bar all the other staff were sitting down on their phones dirty cutlery on the floor had to clean my own table was not impressed

Awful service. The restaurant were given two weeks notice of our order requests due to us being a larger group. There were 14 meals ordered and 13 brought to the table, can’t comment on food as I didn’t eat because mine was the meal forgotten. When I asked the bar staff for information for the third time I was told it was never ordered, the receipt showed it was in fact ordered and I had been lied to because the bar staff didn’t want to admit it. Lying staff and not a single apology for messing me around whilst the rest of my family ate. Rubbish attitude from the staff, and even worse that they printed the receipt to wave in our faces and it shows their error! Not good enough.

brilliant place to be no matter the occasion. Wether it’s for food or drinks, good music and lots of screens for when sports are on. I absolutely loved the Long Island iced tea cocktails! Would definitely visit again.

Ordered our food, waited 15 mins even though no one else had ordered. Food arrived, scampi and chips cold, sausage and mash overcooked. Looked like it has been under a hot light for 30mins. DREADFUL PLACE

The pub is brilliant for live sport and drinks. Was there for the final day of the season. Food was great and it good time.

Three of us ordered meals. On one meal an item was switched as they'd run out of what we'd asked for. We weren't consulted about this at all. Meal #2 was also wrong. Wrong topping on the chicken breast (read on for further chicken breast info). So meal #1 was being eaten whilst awaiting correct meal #2. Meal #3 was also chicken breast with sweet chilli sauce and two onion bhaji, chips, peas. The chips were spread carefully in a single layer so as to make the plate look full because the chicken breast was more like a budgie breast with two bhaji smaller than ping pong balls on it. When waiter came back I asked if this was what passed for a chicken breast in these parts. He admitted it was poor, but that WAS the correct portion. I then pointed out that the meal wasn't actually complete. He attended to that pretty quickly, but by the time he was back I'd tried the budgie and could barely cut it, it was tough and dry......and cold, as was the rest of my meal. So when he returned I asked him to take it all away. He offered a full refund but as it was already gone 9pm we declined and I chose a different meal. So we all ate separately. Our waiter did, indeed, end up giving us a full refund all around, so every credit to him for handling the situation so well and so politely.

We went on Saturday 27th May (bank holiday weekend), mainly to watch the footy. We had a little bit of food which was ok but the main noticeable thing was that some staff looked really fed up and unhappy about working there which caused an unpleasant atmosphere. I wouldn't go back again.

Nice place! Delicious food, delicious beer. As for food, I recommend ordering a set of 5 dishes. Firstly, it is not expensive and secondly, it is a variety. There are places in the middle and on the summer playground. We were more comfortable in the middle. There are monitors for watching football. Definitely recommend a visit.

The service was amazing and our group defiantly threw some orders at them and they excelled especially the young male server who's name I didn't grab but trust me he's a keeper food excellent keep up the good work!

Ordered four different meals .sausage and mash ( the mash was like concrete ) .meatball sub( thrown together, looked nothing like advertised ,spring onion instead of red onion no lettuce ,scabby chips ) sent it back politely asking for the correct items .lasagna looked and tasted two weeks old ,disgusting rubbery pasta .the waitress dropped what bit of salad there was on the plate onto the floor ,had to ask for a replacement salad ! The salad was left on the floor much to other diners dismay with the waitresses walking past it numerous times ! Needless to say we didn't finish the meals ,Never again will I waste my money here .

I loved it and it was busy with people with dogs. Just goes to show how a dog friendly venue can be successful. Lovely lunch. I had a lovely meat pie and my dad had traditional fish and chips. Definitely will be returning
