Service poor stuck in a back room. Came to collect plates when people still eating. Won't be going back. Lost its charm no staff communication

Three cask ales. Abbott speckled hen and a local happy ale, which was very tasty. Great view of river.

This place has changed hands since I last reviewed and what a difference really nice pub to use now. Happy to see Hawkstone on tap as well

It's a really lovely place the staff are nice the food is exceptionally nice the chef is class absolutely class Buy however the manager is so rude and awful She is so not bothered about the customers nose in the air morbid and jsuy all round rude She makes you feel like not going back horrible woman Would rather sit with her freinds eating instead of working Such a shame as the other staff are amazing this pub would be great if she left

So, so, so disappointed! I was told on the phone when booking in an hour before we arrived that it was 'fish night' but the normal menu was also available. Only when we arrived at 6pm did they tell us that there was only one piece of fish left and the sausages (for 'sausages and mash'), steak and chicken were off. That left very little choice. We asked the owner which of the 3 chicken dishes were off and at first she said, "All of them" but then decided two were actually available. Very disappointed, we opted for the safety of an 'all day breakfast', only to be told 10 mins after ordering that there were no sausages so chef could do us more bacon and hash browns. In the end, there were no hash browns - these were substituted for chips. I worked in this pub in 1987/88. It was gorgeous; all done out in yacht varnished panelling, with boat-themed pictures on the wall, it felt like the inside of a boat. It was moodily lit and the food was excellent! Mario, the landlord, wasn't the easiest man to work for but he ran a tight ship (pun intended) and the place was always busy. The panelling is still there but it's been painted over in off-white. There is not a single picture on the wall or any decorative feature and the lights are turned up full. It is just cold, characterless and functional. I tried to engage the manageress - apologies, the 'owner' (she actually corrected me!) - in conversation but she was absolutely not interested in anyone other than the locals. Actually, I'd go as far as to say she was actively unwelcoming - something most people really have to work at! On reflection, her correction was valid - she absolutely DOES NOT manage it if there's so little fish on 'fish night' that they've all but run out at 6pm and there is no steak, chicken, sausages or hash browns! I mentioned it to a few friends in Newark. All remembered what a lovely pub it was and said it was known to have really gone off. And boaters beware - don't be attracted by the mooring. It is not suitable for a narrowboat and is not in a safe condition. One finger is held on with a G-clamp. Give this one a miss and head to Newark where there are some lovely places.

Lovely riverside pub taking advantage of the great views. Owner who has taken over has started to invest in improvements and showing with the decor and outside seating area which is a huge improvement on previous landlords. Keen to see how this keeps on developing. Little bit of outside music would make it for me!

Booked to have Sunday Lunch there at 1-30 to be told no Sunday lunches left. We told them we had booked a table but was not talked to the table so just sat in pub the whole experience was terrible. They did not seem to be interested. Even when we commented about this the did not try to rectify it. We had walked from Cromwell to the pub and therefore was disappointed to say the least

Stopped by chance and had a steak dinner & glass of Chardonnay. Lively crowd when we visited but all very friendly. Out food was delivered by a friendly & courteous young lady & the food was delicious (as was the Chardonnay!). Lovely waterside views with ample free parking. We will certainly visit again 🙂

Lovely pub on the river trent, We had a sandwich as we didn't want a cooked dinner, The food that come out for other people look lovely, and very good portions. I told the lady no peppers on my salad. But it came with peppers, so I told them I can't eat peppers. So he took it away and came back and said, sorry it is made with peppers. So only picked out the tomatoes and left the salad. So that was a very expensive sandwich.

Sat by the Trent in a beautifully laid out Beer Garden, this place is a good place to go all year round. The food here is good and I always get a warm welcome from the staff. I've been coming out here for years and always a good place to sit back and wind down.

Been tonight for a meal after being out all day . The food was fantastic, the service was fab . Atmosphere was good and friendly. Will deffinately try again.

A delightful pub with polite, attentive, and helpful staff. The beer was excellent and reasonably priced. The food was superb. The steak was cooked to perfection and good quality, and the gourmet burger was full of flavour and also good quality produce. My only negative comment would be that I would rather it was served on a plate rather than a board, but that did nothing to detract from the food. I will most definitely be visiting again when in the area.

Nice view, nice food, good service, this is a very pleasant lunch spot just off the A1 and very dog friendly too. We'd definitely stop here again.

Visited one afternoon mid week, the landlady was lovely and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We then went back on Saturday and had lunch, again a lovely atmosphere and great food. A lovely village pub that's a great asset to the village

Not a hint of pretentiousness but good honest plates that will go splendidly with a glass of wine or pint of beer. Cold and uninviting. Ham sandwich fine but had to ask for more ham on my ploughman's lunch as just a scrap on my plate. Empty on a Friday afternoon. Beautiful place could be so lovely. Woman serving spent her time on phone.

Visited Muskham Ferry for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Good atmosphere as the pub was quite busy. We had booked so no delay getting seated and service from the staff very good. Enjoyed a lovely meal. Well done Ande and your team 👍

Used to be a friendly awesome pub Now it’s run by a difficult rude battle axe who might be alright if she feels like it but more than likely make you feel as welcome as Jeremy Clarkson at a Stop The Oil rally Such a shame as the Ferry used to be a favourite place to go and chill out

This is a lovely walk along the bank and then a pint, good food, good service. Great views. Lovey if your in a boat to stop at.

Friendly, welcome and helpful. I Kayak from Newark along Trent and finish here and get lunch. There is a landing stage there and easy to carry carry Kayak back to car park next to pub.

This pub is a real hidden Gem. The front of the pub is metres away from a quiet part of the river Trent with views of the Green wild British Country side. Friendly staff and the meals were amazing with crispy roast potatoes ! It was only a small wedding reception but the staff accommodated fantastically. Thank you Ande

Great outside area overlooking the river. Kid and dog friendly. All day breakfast is huge and very reasonably priced. 3 well kept cask ales and all the usual favorites.

Great location but good do with a bit of modernisation

1st time visiting here, really happy we did, lovely food & staff were fab. Home made salmon quiche was beaut.

Well I believe it's, been under new management for a while now. Visited 3 times in last 6 weeks. The food quality is good, love gourmet burger. Staff are friendly and helpful. A proper old English pub. If you like modern theme pubs probably not for you. Great views nice patio area for good weather.

Went for a birthday lunch out and it was good tasty food with reasonable portion sizes. Staff friendly and accommodating. Everyone enjoyed the few hours in the garden overlooking the river. We will be coming back!

Well run , v clean and getting better every day with the new landlady, beers excellent wine excellent views excellent and of course staff excellent, meals I'm told are excellent as well will be trying v soon

Shocking seeing landladies dogs off lead at a dog friendly pub bother and run at customers dogs. One couple clearly had a dog that was not friendly and a couple had dogs that were snapped at by these dogs. When she did turn up she didn’t say anything to the owner’s straight away and just ignored the incident. Thankfully I didn’t have my dog with me as If these dogs had come running and snapping at my mastive they would have not come out the incident as well. The fact that both groups of owners didn’t kick up a stink stunned me cos I would have. I’ve always found this a lovely dog friendly pub but I’m re thinking coming again. Shouldn’t have to worry about the landladies dogs bothering customers in a dog friendly pub. I definitely won’t be taking my boy back there

I have been frequenting the Ferry for years and can honestly say I have never seen it look better.Well done Ande for your hard work, brilliantly clean, welcoming,excellent food and drinks, and improvements to the outside support my belief that this must be one of the best pubs in the U.K. with such a beautiful location overlooking the majestic Trent!

This pub has been here for many years. Sunday lunch appalling , did they run out ? Empty pub, it will not be a village pub for much longer with this type of standard. they have lost us as a returning customer. The Crown at Bathley is a far better place to eat around us.

We live in the village, and we have just had Sunday lunch, never again what we had you could have fitted on a saucer, go to the crown at bathley far far better.

A very enjoyable meal, pleasant helpful staff, nice and quiet with a lovely view. Dog friendly and we could sit where we liked. If we're down this way again, we'll be back Thank you

We visited today for Sunday lunch and were extremely happy with our meal, all fresh veg home made yorkies and plenty of meat. Husband had the vegetarian wellington that he thoroughly enjoyed, staff were attentive and friendly. But sadly we saw a young girl verbally abused by a man in his 60s and his wife because after 25 minutes they hadn't gotten their meal, this young lady was very professional and kept her calm and was very polite despite him swearing in her face. Well done team Ferry we will absolutely be back.

What has happened to our local? It has become a friends club for the new owner, with most of the rest of its customers being ignored. Lived locally for 12 years. Always used this pub. Last 3 times left waiting for 5-10 minutes to be served whilst the owner sits and chats to mates. Staff behind bar often on their own and rushed off their feet. Don't want to lose this pub but not sure I want to go back either. A local should be a friendly welcoming escape from a stressed day, not a hit and miss "am I going to be spoken to or not today" experience. Much improvement needed.

Under NEW management since November 22 and wow just wow. Sunday lunch with the family was just amazing, congratulations to Casey and Tom for a brilliant meal.

Sunday Lunch, well what a delicious Roast Lamb meal I had, totally recommended. Waiting staff were lovely. Dinner came out promptly when ordered and was lovely and hot. Roasties and Yorkshire puddings were spot on!!!!

Love this pub and restaurant. We have used it as a travel break many times over the past 40 years. It never disappoints. Good food and excellent beer. Really friendly crowd as well.

Had lovely meals the last 2 nights whilst visiting the area. Welcoming staff and very good quality simple pub food cooking, just what was needed. We'll be back when we're in the area again.

Great atmosphere combined with good food what more could you want

The worst meal I've ever had. Sausage, mash and peas. The Sausage were very poor quality. The smallest amount of mash potatoes ever. The only thing I can say is; the peas were green.

We l9ve this pub. Often meet there as a halfway house when my daughter is travelling to York. Great food. Brilliant value for money. Staff are very welcoming and views across the River Trent are great. 100% recommend

One of my favourite pubs in the UK, very good food and beer, pleasant natured landlord who is very humoured and utterly likeable.

Called into where I was once the Landlord to find a brightened up pub from when I was there! Very welcoming and lovely setting, had a coffee and a walk then came back for sandwiche! Just one comment about a prawn mare rose sandwich should have no butter and only the source! Needed a lot more source as I don't think it had any? But in all very good.

Lovely pub the staff and customers are very friendly and a good selection of meals we had grimsby fish from the specials board and they were very nice, worth a little detour from the A1.

Disappointing. A run down pub with dated appearance and decor inside and same outside with unkempt garden area. Food is very ordinary and poor value for the prices. Only redeeming feature is view of the river and plenty of parking. Would not return.

What a fall from grace. A once reliable pub with decent food at decent prices has hit rock bottom. Inedible food and dirty glasses. Avoid!

Another good riverside pub that's handy for dog walking. Beer is always good a usually features Maypole beers.

Lovely location overlooking River Trent. Only a few small moorings and full when we were there. Great friendly and informative welcome, delicious food and good choice at reasonable prices.

The staff are friendly and will mix with the public, really relaxed environment. Food was great and was served quickly and all together (8 people eating). Daughter and son in-law lives in the area so will definitely be going back.

Enjoyed a lunch here, sat outside by the River Trent. It's a while since we've visited this country pub, so good to return. Unfortunately, for us, they'd been quite busy with food, so our first choice wasn't available, and we weren't told that my second choice wasn't available until it was delivered to the table - a totally different veggie burger. No garnish, just the burger and chips, so okay, but not really anything special. Will try again though, great setting.
