Lord Ted in Newark and Sherwood

First off we were the most awkward customers! 2 separate bookings 45 minutes apart but wanted to sit together 🙈🙄. We were greeted by Nathan at the door that went above and beyond to meet our awkward request and made it happen with no fuss at all and he even made sure we could watch the football changing the channel over for us. The rest of the experience whilst there continued to impress the food was brilliant the staff were all friendly. Joe on the carvery was fantastic with assisting the kids get their food. I highly recommend people give it a try 10/10

Visited 7th November. Excellent meal. Wonderful variety of vegetables, meat was tender and carved by a very pleasant young man.

Absolutely Delicious! The carvery had fresh meat and a very pleasant, helpful and professional carver. The side dishes were fresh, hot, plentiful and a very wide variety. The restaurant was very clean with a great staff. Highly recommended.

Great carvery, go twice a week

Young girl that served us had attitude. Meal clearly says horse radish served with meal. When husband asked for this he got a tut and a sigh, 5 mins waiting so food going cold, brought it to table with a bang on top and just walked away. Not like they were rushed off their feet we went early before Sunday lunch rush. When asked by another girl if food etc was alright, said well not really, nearly asked for a grinder as husband couldn't cut through the Yorkshire pudding, covered myself with napkins as expected his meal going everywhere trying to cut through them. Shame really, used to go every week. Won't bother again.

Like this Pub & Carvery been various times love the atmosphere. Service is always great especially the waitresses service. The food is okay but this time wasn't up to it usual standard, hasn't put me off will visit again.

Nice pub. worth a visit. When I visited the pub was full and lots of people were enjoying their meal. I personally didn't eat, but the food I ate looked amazing.

First visit here after hearing good things about it on FB & it certainly didn’t disappoint, we had the carvery on offer at £7 it was absolutely faultless, the meat veg all beautiful friendly staff made us feel welcome. Only 25 minutes from our home we will definitely be going again

Overcooked veggies, meats not rich in taste, take a long time to deliver the basic of orders like a simple kid burger.

This has got to be the best value and quality carvery for many miles, the place is spotless the staff busy ,efficient and friendly....there is nothing not to like.

The food was nice. I ordered on the app and we waited around 20 minutes just to get drinks, although we were seated quickly. There was loud children near us, but to be expected at a pub.

Well what a lovely Pub but please don't fall short for the parking facilities as this is ran by a separate company unbe knowing to us. Received a parking fine yesterday morning after going in the pub and using their facilities. Us not beginning aware of the parking rules and was not stated in the pub even after speaking to the barmaid that I didn't want alcoholic drink as I was driving and still didn't make us aware of these parking charges and still unaware how we was supposed to let them know. Didn't see any payment machines or anything along these guidelines. Please please be careful before entering these facilities

We went on a tuesday late afternoon time. The food was fresh and well presented. We had a carvery which was delicious, the portion size of meat was very generous. It was a little noisy and busy due to a couple of celebrations going on and children running about, which is a good thing! It means they must be doing something right! I would definitely recommend 👌

I can't believe how cheap it was here compared with the Toby carvery in Loughborough same size plates but half the cost, will definitely be there soon 👍

Everytime I've been here the foods been tasty not scared to use salt when cooking veg,nice buttery mash and don't slice the meat like its coming out of their wages,in fact wnt some years ago and had a large they gave me two plates one full of meat,really enough for two people lol,can't recommend this place enough,I've often took my family 70mile round trip just to go for a carvery

Went to the LT for Sunday carvery, didn't have to wait long to be served and the food was great, it was very busy but had no trouble getting parked as the car park is pretty big . Would we go again.. yeah most definitely.

Not the best carvery I've ever had, the beef was tough, not much choice of vegetables, wouldn't go here again for a carvery, but would go and gave something off the menu

Recommend the bacon cheeseburger and the lasagne although the "leaves" that arrived with the lasagne were questionable.

Ideally situated on the edge of Newark. Ideal for a family meet-up! Get little set of swings etc to keep the kids happy. Food was good, hot and plenty of it. Staff all very polite and helpful. I imagine busiest at weekend. We went on a Sunday, the later afternoon is better if you'd like it slightly quieter. Also has electric vehicle charging in the car park. Don't miss entering your vehicle registration on entering the restaurant or you will get hit for parking charges.

Stopped off for a toilet break and quick drink. The carvery smelt delicious, but we just stopped for a drink each before we carried our journey. We ended up staying nearly 90 minutes, ordering a snack to share, which was £12. We only found it by luck as the sat nav changed our route because of traffic and I'm glad it did

I have given my dog better sorry the only food that was dessert was the meat roast potato bad mash potato taste like packet cauliflower cheese was hard and the Stuffing just look like Dog poo sorry my family took me there as a treat I will never never go back and the Chef? that Served us the food.needs to smile I would not recommend going here at all

I would have rated higher if a simple lunch with family didn’t take an ugly turn to a 100£ parking fine for eating there. . I am living close by and am going there from time to time to dine. This time we came back from a long drive from the airport for picking my visiting sister and wanted to show her a nice place where we usually eat out since it was our favorite. The pub having a cosy vibe. Now it is not anymore, we’ll have to find another carvery. The reason for not being our favorite anymore is that I have received a PCN. (parking charge of 100£ (60£ if you pay in time) for using the parking. When I ordered I remember giving my number plate but I guess someone got confused and forgot to add it to my table. How about with this implementation of parking fees you guys also implement a friendlier “feature” in your app so people don’t get confused and also make a bigger sign at the bar/till to register your number instead of relying on others to do that for you. Or make sure your in-place systems do not fail. Being served a PCN when it isn’t the car owners fault but rather the restaurant administration is a serious matter. Some people come tired from long distances looking to eat something and they don’t always remember all the crazy rules. Customers should not be charged a PCN for eating out at your place. I am shocked and disappointed and will be looking for another carvery, one that doesn’t fine their customers for eating at their restaurants.

Friendly helpful staff, lovely food.

The food used to be much better here. Since the bar staff changed, the quality has declined. A friendly and professional staff member was replaced by someone who doesn’t acknowledge customers and instead complains about her job. If she dislikes it here, she should consider leaving. I used to visit regularly for both food and "Too Good To Go" bags, but now, since those picking up the bags are treated poorly, I avoid it. Orders are frequently canceled even when food is available, leading to unnecessary waste.

We've been semi-regular customers here for the last few years and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal. Today's meal was also lovely, but a 10-minute wait on drinks ordered on the app at 3pm is the longest we've ever waited (there were hardly any customers in)... Anyway, the ultimate mixed grill was as lovely as ever, but the one star loss was due to the side salad with the mac 'n' cheese consisting of lettuce and French dressing. Yes, it should be re-named a side lettuce instead of side salad. Please sort this out, I know it's only a side salad, but you can't call it that when it's only lettuce! We will return, but hope to see some actual salad next time.

It’s been a few months since we have been but I understand it is under new management. Service and food was appalling. Food was cold and since when do you get frozen carrots!! Will not be going again.

Picked up 2 Too Good to Go bags for the full carvery. Previously we're offered a choice of meats (2 slices) a Yorkshire pudding, and helped ourselves to veg. This time, it had been packed for us, so barely any meat (1/2 and 1 slice respectively of the pork), no Yorkshire pudding, lots of veg (some of which we don't eat) and piles of stuffing, I don't eat. We were considering coming here for a normal carvery, but think we'll try elsewhere...

Frozen food .Not enough bar staff Staff are nice and helpful but wont be back for food

Food was very unsatisfactory, bland, and looked very beige.

Staff working really hard but not enough of them, especially behind the bar. Carvery was not as good as Stonehouse etc. Meat portions were not generous. Yorkshires were old and cold. Veg were incredibly over-cooked. All in all, not a good experience.

The staff were amazing to beable to cater for 11 of us without a booking, and later in the evening,food was great, service was amazing, the owner even gave my son nathan a bar mat that said nathan and his team welcome you to the lord ted, nice little touch, as my son nathan was getting married the following day, the outside area was also lovely...

The food was delicious, everything was freshly prepared. I recommend it 👍

Hello there was 6 of us we all live local to Newark .It was a meal 6 of Us my best friend was 60 last week. We alway come and have food and drinks especially when it is a Birthday Jennifer Pollard..x

Just back from a very nice family outing. A very nice pub, very good burgers and the staff and manager are terrific. n.b. the carvery isn't on mid afternoon. Edit. We have been several times since and it is still one of the nicest places we have been to, brilliant staff.

Firstly when we got there you now have to find your own table which is fine but a family of 7 was difficult waited nearly 30 mins which wasn't a major issue just thought when asking a member of staff if they could help us with a table simply replied no you get your own. I understand it was a Sunday and may of been busy but no need to take to customers in such way. Then we went to order our carvery to be told they are no longer serving it as they have been given new orders to only do certain amounts at certain times etc. We then ordered food off the main menu.. one child's plate came out (out of 4) 20 minutes earlier to the rest with also garlic bread missing. I asked at the bar to be told they thought it was a starter and the rest will follow. So when we received our order finally food was okay nothing above average I went to order desserts. When we came in as we didn't have a table we opened a tab with a name rather then number. She told me I would have to pay for the desserts separate as she couldn't add on to the previous set up tab. Which I agreed and paid for them asking then what I'd need to do to pay of the drinks and food prior to the desserts for her to say I have closed the account so will need to put it all back thru and charge you. Seemed like noone knew what was happening 3 different people trying to find previous account but luckily didnt get charged twice!.. seemed very unprofessional and maybe more training on tills needed. When our desserts arrived all 4 children's came and then we waited on the 1 adults dessert. 5 minutes later I went to check and they stated its already been done . .told her it hadn't and we have been waiting for it .. they then came to the table to check we didn't have dessert before waiting a further 15 minutes for the next one to arrive ! .. shocking service and won't be back in no rush

Staff were friendly & efficient, pub is inviting, tables & environment were clean. Mid week the car park was not full so parking a large car was not difficult. Not used to putting my car registration into a computer screen so missed the button at the end which submits, the lady who welcomed us was on the ball & as we walked away quickly did this for me & took the time to inform me for future visits the correct procedure. Ordering was quick & simple at the bar. The food arrived in good time, those having carvery were informed by the staff to go to the carvery area as soon as they were aware the other meals were almost ready so we could all eat at the same time. The carvery was very nice, 3 different meats & a good selection of vegetables. The cauliflower cheese, red cabbage & duck fat roast potatoes were especially good. There are other roast potatoes, mash & boiled if you prefer. I tried the Turkey & Gammon. Gammon was a little salty as it often is & the Turkey had a slight chlorinated taste to me but this was not noted by others. The meal overall was very good. Others in my party had the large fish and chips, 2 fish, chips & peas. They reported the fish to be very nice but found the chips a little dry! More sauce required. Over all a very good meal & overall experience was excellent, we will definitely be going again.

The lady behind the carvery (I didn’t catch her name) was brilliant. I explained why one of our daughters had a dairy intolerance so she made fresh veg and mash that was dairy free without any issues at all. She was so lovely, friendly and helpful. There wasn’t much meat left only beef which was fine for us especially as we hadn’t booked but she was so apologetic and then when our eldest daughter got upset there were no peas (she has additional needs) she made enough for my 3 girls. Incredible service!! Thank you so much xxx

Amazing fresh carvery with friendly chefs. Staff are lovely although could do with more staff serving at the bar when busy eg football matches. Kids food is generous. Come here at least once a month. Always get there for when the carvery starts so it's fresh and yummy.

Decided to meet at the Lord Ted one evening with two friends who I had not seen in a while as the location was in the middle of where we all live. We caught up for a couple of hours and went our separate ways, only to now receive a £60 parking charge! I have not been to the Lord Ted for a while, but I never remember having to pay for parking and I don't recall ever seeing anything stating otherwise. Perhaps because it was dark but nothing was obvious at least. Needless to say we shall not be returning.

Wasn't told when ordering the food that our meals wouldn't be complete that the cheese sauce was missing off of one , sweet chilli sauce was missing off another . So the meals were very bland and not eatable . So was refunded the money and the apologised . Which was fair enough .
