Carvery was awful all veg was over cooked mush . The kids burgers even dog outside wouldnt eat chips were ok .

Amazing place, I highly recommend to everyone, with children or even without children to come this family friendly pub. Xx

Update since last review: we went to collect Too Good to Go bag. Once reached the turn to pubs car park our way was blocked by angry nasty woman who turned out to be an employee of this place. despite clearly blocking entry to the car park by stopping her can in the middle of road she insisted we should reverse our car all the way to farndon road. She abandoned her vehicle with engine on and went back to pub to request assist and managers assistance in proving us how she’s wrong but we should think she’s right lol. Manager was very abrupt, been knocking on our car windows, gesticulating like a possess person until realised his nasty member of staff was in the wrong. Haven’t heard word of apology, instead he’s run away back to restaurant after convincing his employee to correct her vehicle position on the road and stop causing obstruction to car park entry. Faulty towers of gastronomy this place is. ___________________________________________ The food used to be much better here. Since the bar staff changed, the quality has declined. A friendly and professional staff member was replaced by someone who doesn’t acknowledge customers and instead complains about her job. If she dislikes it here, she should consider leaving. I used to visit regularly for both food and "Too Good To Go" bags, but now, since those picking up the bags are treated poorly, I avoid it. Orders are frequently canceled even when food is available, leading to unnecessary waste.

We pre-booked a table. Were seated straight away. Great service. Great value. Got a drink and a meal each. The carvery was splendid. 10/10. Definitely be coming back again.

Food of the menu is not very good at all. Generally over cooked and dry. If you have to eat here get the Carvery it is amazing value and very nicely cooked. Just avoid the main menu stuff its a waste of good money

Lord Ted's is a great meet up place (halfway point) for our family. I travel 70 mins from South Yorkshire my Brother family travel from Lincolnshire. I always ask for a veggie Carvery meal. The pie is nice and the others who eat meat seem to like the look of it too. My brother always asks for a.bit of my pie despite having meat for his carvery.. It makes me wonder if a pie with meat in would be an asset for the carvery for those that wanted. It. I drank fruits cider which is vegan friendly and tastes good. Your staff were personable. I especially liked the bar man's freindly attitude and helpful nature. It was a day when the car park was flooded apparently the basement had been flooded too. The professional attitude during this disruption was excellent. My great Nephew Harvey was asleepin his pram when his meal was delivered. My niece asked if his meal could be kept in the kitchen until he was awake. There was no problem with this. When he woke the staff member was asked to fetch Harvey's meal. The staff member came back. With a freshly made meal., apologising and saying we made you a new meal as.the other had gone cold. We appreciated. This kind action Thank you 😊

We had Christmas dinner here with the family, with quite a few dietary needs in the family, all dealt with extremely well. Lovely menu choice in a beautiful festive setting, next to the Christmas tree. We had table service, nothing was too much trouble, family friendly atmosphere, staff pleasant.

Horrible evening because of the weather, had a lovely open fire and really good food for table of seven and reasonably priced Mixture of carvery and other meals

I had a breakdown with my car this evening and the recovery vehicle brought me to the pub car park hoping I could use the EVYVE charging stations but both had had their charging cables cut and removed- this was at 9pm and I was left by the recovery vehicle having to arrange a separate collection. I went to the pub and bought a cup of tea as was frozen- was served by Lisa who said I could stay until closing time and brought me another cup of tea for free. Also helped me with the parking situation to ensure I did not receive a PCN. She was very friendly and helpful making a difficult situation that little bit better. Was very much appreciated- thank you.

I was stuck in an awful amount of traffic after taking my dog for a long walk just outside of Newark and thought I’d stop off at the lord ted, and came to find they now allow dogs inside! Staff all great and my dog loved the attention!

Our visit was for 18 people (my family who gather for Christmas and new year ) The booking was for 2.30 however I called earlier to see if I can bring the booking a bit earlier due to family having to travel home. Firstly the gentleman who took my call was so professional (he didn’t promise he could change the time however said if we arrived he would see if he could accommodate) When we arrived he had managed to have our table ready let me add not just a table for 4 but 18 us…... So big shout out to him (I wish I had his name ) Service was excellent and carvery as always second to none. A great way to end our Christmas celebrations Thankyou Happy new year to the whole team LORD TED…..keep doing what you are doing!!!!

Veggies beware, they have beef dripping veg next to the veggie ones so people obviously use the same tongs, rude staff serving food too , especially the woman carving meat. Bar staff great though

Vegetarians beware, sarcastic staff think that putting beef dripping potatoes and parsnips right next to vegetarian ones is fine because when the dripping ones run out they believe noone will just grab one from next pot to it with the same tongs. Be realistic,, and the woman carving today along with the man on veg have an dreadful attitude to customers, i don't appreciate the way tgey spoke to customers, I feel they think they are LORD TED!! Have come across the woman before and she seriously needs retraining in customer service and sort your veg out for the veggies, it's not fair on them as I guarantee the vegetables have beef dripping on them from the way they are presented

Friendly staff who sorted an issue with the free drink vouchers. Great choice of tasty food and reasonable prices. Great experience

Nice pub with good parking and nice food not over priced

The reason for my score is that we were expecting my granddaughter to see Santa and be given a present after talking to him like last year. It had very little atmosphere and unfortunately Santa had a BO problem - not good. Completely different from last year!! The food as always was excellent and service exemplary as we have come to expect and always receive from Lord Ted staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. Look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

We booked a table for our works team Christmas party. We wanted carvery, but were told no because we didn't pre book it. No one advised us of this when we booked. So I ordered a steak. It was so tough I could have soled my shoes with it. I don't recommend this pub at all.

Carvery nice but not much meat. Always full and lively in here nice big carpark which you need to put your registration number in to avoid a ticket

Myself and 2 friends ate there on Thursday 21st November had a carvery and as the young lady was carving the beef and removed some gristle , I happened to say my dog would have loved that, a bit later same said lady turned up at our table and offered me a doggy bag with off cuts, then as we left we realised it was registration parking and I hadn't signed in and on that note one of the bar staff took my details and said that there would not be a problem SUCH HELPFUL STAFF AT YOUR PUB AGAIN THANKS

Although it was extremely busy the service as excellent as was the food. A couple of people had used their fingers taking the stuffing off the spoon before our turn at carvery asked one of the chefs if he could change due to hygiene levels and not acceptable for any human to feel the need to use fingers. They could have quite easily asked for a spoon to take excess off. Chef changed it straight away. Staff have always been attentive whenever we visit. Cannot fault.

Chicken strips are pretty gross

First off we were the most awkward customers! 2 separate bookings 45 minutes apart but wanted to sit together 🙈🙄. We were greeted by Nathan at the door that went above and beyond to meet our awkward request and made it happen with no fuss at all and he even made sure we could watch the football changing the channel over for us. The rest of the experience whilst there continued to impress the food was brilliant the staff were all friendly. Joe on the carvery was fantastic with assisting the kids get their food. I highly recommend people give it a try 10/10

Visited 7th November. Excellent meal. Wonderful variety of vegetables, meat was tender and carved by a very pleasant young man.

Absolutely Delicious! The carvery had fresh meat and a very pleasant, helpful and professional carver. The side dishes were fresh, hot, plentiful and a very wide variety. The restaurant was very clean with a great staff. Highly recommended.

Like this Pub & Carvery been various times love the atmosphere. Service is always great especially the waitresses service. The food is okay but this time wasn't up to it usual standard, hasn't put me off will visit again.

Young girl that served us had attitude. Meal clearly says horse radish served with meal. When husband asked for this he got a tut and a sigh, 5 mins waiting so food going cold, brought it to table with a bang on top and just walked away. Not like they were rushed off their feet we went early before Sunday lunch rush. When asked by another girl if food etc was alright, said well not really, nearly asked for a grinder as husband couldn't cut through the Yorkshire pudding, covered myself with napkins as expected his meal going everywhere trying to cut through them. Shame really, used to go every week. Won't bother again.

Nice pub. worth a visit. When I visited the pub was full and lots of people were enjoying their meal. I personally didn't eat, but the food I ate looked amazing.

First visit here after hearing good things about it on FB & it certainly didn’t disappoint, we had the carvery on offer at £7 it was absolutely faultless, the meat veg all beautiful friendly staff made us feel welcome. Only 25 minutes from our home we will definitely be going again

Overcooked veggies, meats not rich in taste, take a long time to deliver the basic of orders like a simple kid burger.

This has got to be the best value and quality carvery for many miles, the place is spotless the staff busy ,efficient and friendly....there is nothing not to like.

The food was nice. I ordered on the app and we waited around 20 minutes just to get drinks, although we were seated quickly. There was loud children near us, but to be expected at a pub.

Well what a lovely Pub but please don't fall short for the parking facilities as this is ran by a separate company unbe knowing to us. Received a parking fine yesterday morning after going in the pub and using their facilities. Us not beginning aware of the parking rules and was not stated in the pub even after speaking to the barmaid that I didn't want alcoholic drink as I was driving and still didn't make us aware of these parking charges and still unaware how we was supposed to let them know. Didn't see any payment machines or anything along these guidelines. Please please be careful before entering these facilities

Visited today to try out their breakfasts. Had an ultimate breakfast for only £7.99 and it was delicious , everything was cooked and presented well and very good value for moneu

We went on a tuesday late afternoon time. The food was fresh and well presented. We had a carvery which was delicious, the portion size of meat was very generous. It was a little noisy and busy due to a couple of celebrations going on and children running about, which is a good thing! It means they must be doing something right! I would definitely recommend 👌

I can't believe how cheap it was here compared with the Toby carvery in Loughborough same size plates but half the cost, will definitely be there soon 👍

Was served at the bar and my food by a lovely lady named Nat, excellent customer service from her, food was nice but could of been better as we had the katsu curry and you’re able to tell it’s a microwave meal, but overall staff are lovely there

Everytime I've been here the foods been tasty not scared to use salt when cooking veg,nice buttery mash and don't slice the meat like its coming out of their wages,in fact wnt some years ago and had a large they gave me two plates one full of meat,really enough for two people lol,can't recommend this place enough,I've often took my family 70mile round trip just to go for a carvery

Went to the LT for Sunday carvery, didn't have to wait long to be served and the food was great, it was very busy but had no trouble getting parked as the car park is pretty big . Would we go again.. yeah most definitely.

Recommend the bacon cheeseburger and the lasagne although the "leaves" that arrived with the lasagne were questionable.

Ideally situated on the edge of Newark. Ideal for a family meet-up! Get little set of swings etc to keep the kids happy. Food was good, hot and plenty of it. Staff all very polite and helpful. I imagine busiest at weekend. We went on a Sunday, the later afternoon is better if you'd like it slightly quieter. Also has electric vehicle charging in the car park. Don't miss entering your vehicle registration on entering the restaurant or you will get hit for parking charges.

Stopped off for a toilet break and quick drink. The carvery smelt delicious, but we just stopped for a drink each before we carried our journey. We ended up staying nearly 90 minutes, ordering a snack to share, which was £12. We only found it by luck as the sat nav changed our route because of traffic and I'm glad it did

I have given my dog better sorry the only food that was dessert was the meat roast potato bad mash potato taste like packet cauliflower cheese was hard and the Stuffing just look like Dog poo sorry my family took me there as a treat I will never never go back and the Chef? that Served us the food.needs to smile I would not recommend going here at all

I would have rated higher if a simple lunch with family didn’t take an ugly turn to a 100£ parking fine for eating there. . I am living close by and am going there from time to time to dine. This time we came back from a long drive from the airport for picking my visiting sister and wanted to show her a nice place where we usually eat out since it was our favorite. The pub having a cosy vibe. Now it is not anymore, we’ll have to find another carvery. The reason for not being our favorite anymore is that I have received a PCN. (parking charge of 100£ (60£ if you pay in time) for using the parking. When I ordered I remember giving my number plate but I guess someone got confused and forgot to add it to my table. How about with this implementation of parking fees you guys also implement a friendlier “feature” in your app so people don’t get confused and also make a bigger sign at the bar/till to register your number instead of relying on others to do that for you. Or make sure your in-place systems do not fail. Being served a PCN when it isn’t the car owners fault but rather the restaurant administration is a serious matter. Some people come tired from long distances looking to eat something and they don’t always remember all the crazy rules. Customers should not be charged a PCN for eating out at your place. I am shocked and disappointed and will be looking for another carvery, one that doesn’t fine their customers for eating at their restaurants.

We've been semi-regular customers here for the last few years and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal. Today's meal was also lovely, but a 10-minute wait on drinks ordered on the app at 3pm is the longest we've ever waited (there were hardly any customers in)... Anyway, the ultimate mixed grill was as lovely as ever, but the one star loss was due to the side salad with the mac 'n' cheese consisting of lettuce and French dressing. Yes, it should be re-named a side lettuce instead of side salad. Please sort this out, I know it's only a side salad, but you can't call it that when it's only lettuce! We will return, but hope to see some actual salad next time.

It’s been a few months since we have been but I understand it is under new management. Service and food was appalling. Food was cold and since when do you get frozen carrots!! Will not be going again.

Staff working really hard but not enough of them, especially behind the bar. Carvery was not as good as Stonehouse etc. Meat portions were not generous. Yorkshires were old and cold. Veg were incredibly over-cooked. All in all, not a good experience.
