I really like the Fox and Hound but this particular time we were placed in the snug....not ideal when you are a couple. One family were lovely two very small children and a dog all well behaved....then there was a Grandma,daughter and two older children...it was the family from hell...very noisy, table manners were appalling (and that was Grandma) the children never sat were up and down, both adults were up and down going out side to vape. So I would suggest when you ring too book ask where you will be sitting...as never again would I sit in thst room. It spoilt my birthday meal and it didn't make it a nice experience and that's a shame as we love to go to the Fox and Hound as the food is superb 👌

Visited 4/24 as a family of 6 for my daughter's birthday. A real mixed bag of very good and mediocre. First thing to say is that the portions are huge for starters (which is unusual) and mains - we had no room for desserts, so be warned! All our starters were great and well presented but several of the mains were disappointing. I had chilli, which was dry; another of our group had the blade of beef which was also dry and very chewy. The truffle and parmesan fries were quite limp and didn't taste of truffle - and were expensive. Service, whilst cheerful and friendly, wasn't very attentive - we had empty glasses left uncleared throughout our meal and I don't remember being asked at any stage if our food was OK. Would certainly return but consistency is the key.

Chose this pub for a meal for an 87th birthday treat based on the online menu which seemed to have something for everyone in our party of 7 people @ 6pm on a Thursday evening! ( Gluten free & pescatarian) There are not enough superlatives to describe the food quality, service & atmosphere it was simply WOW! We sadly didn't take photos of the meals but they were all delicious, substantial & piping hot & very reasonably priced. Blade of Beef, Fish Pie , Crispy Salmon fillet & Chicken & Leek Pie deserve special mention! Service was great, welcoming & attentive even though the restaurant was very busy! Can not recommend highly enough & if we're ever in the area again, we will make a point of returning.

Lovely country pub , always a nice pint , not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for .

As traditional, ‘home cooked’ pub grub goes, it doesn’t get much better than here. The service from Diane and her team has been faultless across several visits and the portion sizes are beyond generous, yet should you need more veg or gravy, you just have to ask. Car parking is ample and there is a great outdoor area at the rear for children to run around in. Cannot recommend enough.

Staff were very welcoming and food was 10/10. Booked for a table of 7 with the family and elderly grandparents to celebrate a birthday. The staff went above and beyond. Highly recommend

Have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed yet. The quality and portions you get for your money cannot be beaten. Best Sunday lunch I've found in Nottingham; you HAVE to order the cauliflower cheese, guarantee it will be the best you've ever tasted. Can't go wrong! 😋

Turned up on a wet Sunday early afternoon without a reservation. Two adults, one kid and three muddy dogs we were made to feel most welcome. Hot and tasty Sunday dinners served within 10 mins. Had to roll back home due to the size of the portion. 5 stars. Edit: Just got back from my 3rd visit to here. Fish and chips was awesome and chicken kebab was quite literally a ridiculous portion.

One word AMAZING! We had our late staff Christmas party at the fox & hounds and it was just impeccable from start to finish. The staff are so attentive and service with a smile. The food was divine and presented beautifully. And we were well and truly looked after so well. With us all working in the industry also it was so nice to feel so looked after and spoilt & we certainly did feel like that at the fox & hounds a huge thank you to all for making our evening so memorable.

Great welcome to a stranger walking in on a Saturday evening without a reservation! They looked after me well and the massive sausage and mash in a Yorkshire pudding was tasty and huge. Highly recommended.

Having moved to the village not long ago this pub became our local, having eaten there a number of time the food & the (manager) where always good, today when we went we noticed she wasn’t there, & god did we no it, took 15min to even take our order, & we didn’t even stay for our food as it took over an hour & we still hadn’t eaten, the staff made some poor excuses!!!! I don’t think we will be going back anytime soon!!!

Shared a fish pie, and were still stuffed!!! Gorgeous food. Ideal for big appetites!! All the food that came past us looked amazing

A lovely country pub with food that is simply fantastic. We have visited the Fox and Hounds a fair few times now and have always been impressed. The service is always good, the food has always been fantastic and portion sizes are great, all whilst being reasonably priced. The last time we went was for Sunday dinner and we took friends that had never been before. All of them said that they would be coming back in the future. The Sunday dinner was a 10/10 for me, the braised red cabbage and carrot and swede mash made it extra special. I would recommend booking in advance to guarantee a table, you will not be disappointed if you visit here.

Sorry to say we won’t be returning, the food (bar the roast) was awful. The sausages from the children’s menu were like hot dog style jarred sausages. The gin and tonic was rank it was as if the bottle of tonic had been open for a couple of days. If you are charging premium prices I would expect better! If it wasn’t for my mother in law, as I know she wouldn’t want to cause a fuss, I would have complained as it was rough to say the least.

This place is a little gem 💎 and would highly recommend.. its so nice to find somewhere that does nice honest homemade food that's not over complicated.. and 100% value for money as these are big meals .. well done team fox and hounds

Lovely lunch. Had the garlic mushrooms , delicious, followed by smoked haddock and mozzarella fishcakes, my husband had the fish pie which was enormous. Really friendly staff and quick service.

Lovely atmosphere with the pub, always made to feel welcome. Friendly service, & really good varied menu. We had 4 different main courses, which each enjoyed theirs and sufficient without a dessert. Will & do recommend, which unfortunately means it is more difficult next time. Booking is also recommended.

My sister and I went to this place Friday 29th December. I did not book and they managed to get us a table (this was reserved for another party but we had time to have lunch). We got there for 12.00. After that the place started to fill up. The atmosphere was great. The staff were great and the food was delicious. My sister had the Mex tex con carni and I had the curry. We would highly recommend this place - please book it does get busy. Thank you to the staff and great food that we had. We shall be returning with our other halves.

4 out 5 good ,1 was terrible which was the curry ,onion bhaji burnt and not good,the naan bread was a wrap ,and the chicken was hard with the curry was sweet ,more like a korma than a tikka.

Very slow 40 minutes from ordering starter to receiving which made eating mains very late, however the quality and taste massively overrode any impatience, huge portions and delicious. Will just go earlier next time so I'm not chewing my arm off! Would recomend 100%

This has to be the cheapest pub in the UK - don’t know how much a pint is but a double vodka coke is £3.40. I would have been happy with £5 nowadays. Also, the young barsmaid is amazing. Live music when I went in on a Thursday. Only moved to netherfield last week

The waitress I had (Summer) was amazing with her service and put 100% into everything I asked for. I would absolutely come back again. The food was cooked to perfection, the best place I have ever been! Looking forward to coming back again soon

We visited on a Sunday after a wet windy dog walk , we booked last minute, they were more than happy to accommodate us and found us a dog friendly table in the bar . We had the Sunday roast, it was absolutely delicious one of the best I have had , great potion size too , we orderd extra gravy, pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese, all of which were lovely . My only disappointment was I had no room for dessert 😕 next time we won’t order sides , the atmosphere was very friendly and cozy , great service too. We will definitely be back and would 💯 recommend . Great pub xx

Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch. They squeezed us in even though they were really busy. Staff very friendly and helpful, from waiting staff to the owners. Food arrived, full plates with extra dishes of vegetables and gravy. Plenty of meat and crackling, and our requests for sauces and extras were met quickly and with a smile. The place was warm and clean. Can’t fault it. Good value Sunday lunch. My aficionado friend said it was the one of the best he’s had.

My family of nine came here a meal.My husband only drinks none alcoholic beer and at £4.30 very expensive compered to elsewhere. Oh and £7.50 glass of wine.The meal was horrible Fish and chips .The battery was burnt to a crisp and there wasn't any fish inside it.The chips were just hard dry bits. The Goulash someone had was sooo salty.The lad with the long hair was so gormless. Just been ripped of spending £200 for lousy food and overpriced 🍸. One small like the place was warm.

We managed to get the last of the warm evenings a few weeks ago and sat outside this lovely pub. The Camembert looked so good on someone else’s table we just had to try it and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The pickle it came with was sweet and was a great accompaniment with the cheese. The fish finger baguette was perfect, chunky baguette and home made fish fingers!

We visited for the first time yesterday and wished we'd found this place sooner! Staff were lovely and really accommodating, especially when I forgot to mention we were bringing our dog with us (oops) however they did some table shuffling and found us a space in the bar instead which we were grateful for. Food was excellent and could definitely recommend the roast dinner and the steak and stilton pie. Portions were huge! Will be coming back to try out more of the menu

Absolutely amazing food and service. The place was packed and they were turning people away, but they still found us a table. There were so many vegetarian and vegan choices on the menu it was a bit overwhelming. I went for the vegetarian Sunday roast with all the trimmings and it was outstanding. Really good value, plates piled high with delicious food. Definitely will go back again.

Ordered Sunday roast pork with crispy crackling it came with no crackling and they ended up giving us a bag of pork scratching. Not quite what I ordered! Meal was ok overall!

We received a very welcome, I ordered the Great British Curry which was of excellent quality and value, it consisted of large boneless chicken pieces which were very tender in a creamy and not too hot curry sauce served with rice, warm naan bread, poppadoms, samosas and sweet chutney. My wife had the vegetarian cottage pie with season vegetables and new potatoes. It was a good sized portion being tasty and filling. The staff were polite and professional throughout the meal. The desert menu is varied and would suit all tastes, due to the large main course portions we were unable to have one but would have done if we had not been so full! We will be returning based on the food, service and whole experience in general. Well done all concerned and Thank you!

Pie and pie and more pie is the best you have to try

First time at this pub me and my friend went last night we was amazed with the size of the portions and quality of food! The pub is set in the countryside very cosy and the staff was lovely will definitely be going back as the menu had a great selection which we will be going through!

Beautiful place and food to die for

Quiet on an autumnal Tuesday lunchtime but food and service were great. Atlantic Prawn and Smoked salmon cocktail was the best I've had, lamb off the specials board with sweet potato fondant and a spiced sauce with brocoli spears had just the right amount of heat.

Been here for the third time with family I totally recommend this place the food I amazing the and great price the beer is nice you will not leave empty handed well with a empty stomach the staff are always welcomeing and happy to help

This was our first visit, the food was excellent,just one minor blip on the service , I'm sure it was a small reaction to a request, the atmosphere was really good, we had the dogs with us and sometimes other owners are not sympathetic to others. But these comments are not a complaint. We will definitely return.

As it was a lovely day, we sat outside in the beer garden, rather than sit in the dog friendly bar. Could not fault the staff and service. However, the food was very poor, except for the chips. The burger bun was very dry and the pastry for the pie, was over cooked.

This place is a real gem. Run by a very efficient Landlady and great staff! All the food is amazing. The portions are large and you will leave stuffed. Would recommend for everyone. Lovely location and good sized car park with disabled access.

A good meeting point when we meet friends for a midweek catch up. The food was lovely ...ranging from Gammon ,Scampi and Beef pie. Felt we was a bit rushed after we d asked for the bill,even though others were still eating in the restaurant. When we split the bill I didn't like it that the waiter rounded our bill up, if we had wanted to tip we would have done! We sat in the garden to continue chatting as we d driven 30 miles for lunch and wasn't ready to move on.

We visit here a few times a year. Love the beer garden. Today we had “posh fish finger sandwich” and WOW it was just amazing. We always get good service, freshly cooked food. Highly recommend.

The food was good. However, my friend was missing part of her order, but it wasn't noticed at the time, so didn't cause any problems. Service was a bit slow but was being monitored and instructed, so again, it was not a massive problem. In their defence, they did have a wedding on and were up against it. I will definitely go again.

What a wonderful place on a sunny evening with your dogs. So much space outside to sit and eat. Two menus that provided so much choice and we were not disappointed when the food came out. It was absolutely gorgeous. 5 stars all the way.

Had to send food back, which ok it happens, but we couldn't understand how the food item was served in the first place. Then my drink was totally wrong and undrinkable, and when I had to have it exchanged, I was given another drink totally wrong. We got the impression it was a lot of very young, inexperienced staff working that day. It was a shame as the place has good reviews and is able to charge £16 for a burger, so your presumption is it's going to be decent.

I ordered Sirloin steak (£26) I came medium well when ordered medium rare. The side salad came dry with no dressing. Chips and onion rings were your standard bought in frozen stuff. My partner ordered lasagna, huge portion but it tasted "Meh" Chicken Pie, huge portion but bland with over cooked mushy veg. Greek Lamb, came with a salad and no dressing, loads of chips and the lamb was very dry. Hummus looked like it came from a tin but I can't confirm that. Kids sausage and mash was huge! Though it came out 20 minutes before everyone else's food. I ordered a Neck Oil IPA which tasted like it was watered down. So stuck to bottled beer after that. Red Wine (Malbec, apparently...) was a huge measure almost filling the glass! Sadly it tasted like Malt Vinegar The waiting staff were very friendly and diligent. If you love gut buster style dining whilst wearing elasticized waisted trousers then it's fine. In my opinion this place needs to shrink the menu, portion sizes and focus more on quality and local fresh ingredients.

Very last minute booking and pub accommodated us all with no problems even though they were extremely busy. We were a party of 6 adults and 3 very young children. Landlady was amazing. She went out of her way to be as helpful as possible. Very attentive service from two other members of staff who kept asking us if we needed more drinks even though we were right beside the bar. Excellent food, very generous portions too. Wonderful evening. Post dinner chocolate treats for the children too.

Fab service, excellent tasty dinner, loads of veg, felt safe as a Coeliac who needed a gluten free dinner which even included a gluten free Yorkshire pud! Worth the money Thank you
