Went for a big family meal and the food was delicious! My boyfriend declared the Yorkshire pudding was the best he had ever had. The meals are huge and everything tasted amazing. Definitely would recommend and will be visiting again. Lovely place!

Had an excellent meal here. I arrived with a large group. I was the only coeliac, when I told the waiter he understood. There were plenty of items that could be adapted and they were clearly indicated as gluten free . I had the gammon with pineapple and chips. The Portion size was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. will come back here again.

One of the best roast dinners we've ever had! Extremely tasty and good service. Dog friendly which is a bonus with a nice outdoor space (perfect when the weather is good). Would come back!

Went here for what we expected to be a lovely evening with friends. Turned out to be a cold long wait and being forgotten by staff. Ordered straight away and paid over £100. Starters came out within 15 minutes which was great and thought we were in for a treat. Little did we know we would then sit there for 2 hours waiting for mains to arrive. We went in to ask how long food would be and were told it was because the starters plates were still on our table, which 3 different members of staff repeatedly walked past and never took the empty plates or ask how the food was. We again sat there for another 45 minutes to which we were now really annoyed, starving and cold from being sat outside so had to go and ask for a refund.

Lovely food and plenty to but found the staff short off smiles. And not in view welcoming. In short supply. Thay never said goodbye or did you enjoy. But food is bang on

Visited the pub yesterday for a couple of quiet drinks in the garden in the lovely weather, group of 3 adult women and a baby, my friends first time out without her partner with a 5 week old baby, nervous about navigating around with a pushchair. Walked in the entrance and tried to find how to get to the garden (our first time there and it wasn’t busy at all at the time we went around later aft) there were no signs pointing to how we get outside, we walked the pram through the pub, not making any issues, no blockages etc, as we got to the back door realised there were steep steps to get outside so we laughed and said We’ll go back the other way as the garden must be that way, as we were walking back though the rude and abrupt landlady stopped us and said “are you in or out girls?!” In a very patronising tone (a new mother and 3 women all nearing 30) as if we were kids running in and out causing havoc. My friend (mother of baby) said “oh sorry it’s our first time here so wasn’t sure how to get outside” the landlady rolled her eyes and said “take a menu, go outside, choose a table number and come in to order food and drinks” and pointed us back outside. Very rude tone, no professionalism, doesn’t deserve business and made our new mum friend feel like she’s causing a disturbance pushing a pushchair with a new baby in which really wasn’t an issue. Decided to leave as we didn’t want to give her any of our money and went to a lovely POLITE, local pub with NICE, FRIENDLY, WELL TRAINED staff who made our friend feel very welcome and comfortable instead. Won’t be returning unless new management takes over.

The food was beautiful! Huge portions, I would recommend the salmon, so tasty! Great selection of drinks. Outdoor seating and a field for the kids to play, bring a football. Plenty of parking. Staff are friendly.

We had a lovely afternoon here. We were party of 11, with 2 kids and 2 allergy guests. The staff were really attentive and came out to talk to us about the allergens. We had to wait a little while for the food because the pub was busy but it was definitely worth the wait. The food was delicious and the portions were enormous- making it great value for money. The atmosphere was lovely and friendly it a beautiful area. Thank you to the staff for making our afternoon special even when you were so busy.

Lovely home-made food, very big portions

I came here probably a couple of years before lockdown and remembered it being a great pub. It's definitely one of the good pubs in the village. Staff are great, and if you enjoy hearty food, then you can't go wrong, as they know how to fill ya belly :-).. I do hope our next visit can be a lot sooner than our last one. ;-).

We had a large family gathering here today and I felt I must write a review. *OUTSTANDING!*. The food was absolutely stunning, hot, well cooked, sizeable portions and with a great selection. I had the Cajun salmon and it was the biggest salmon portion I have ever had, the fish and chips were massive as was the blade of beef. No desserts ordered as we were all so full. Highly recommend this gem of a find.

They don’t give you the normal pub food that you seem to get every where else, you get proper good food and the staff are friendly and polite.

Fabulous meal I had the bbq belly bites, delicious. The pie looked amazing. Will be having that next time.

Went on a Sunday for a family birthday, there was about 15 of us and all the staff were great and very accommodating, the trio of meats was lovely as well, will definitely be returning!

Absolutely 💯 lovely cottage pub. Atmosphere beautiful and lovely drive there. The food is out of this world and everytime only takes a matter of 5 minutes to bring out. Keep up the good work guys. Family run and had for years so nothing they don't know. Even if there fully booked they will offer you a table but need it back in a hour or so. Fab.

I celebrated my birthday on 7th February in the evening with my family at The Fox and Hounds. The staff were very efficient and helpful. All our meals were delivered to the table at the same time, lovely and hot. Which couldn't have been easy as there were 15 guests at the table. All the meals were well presented and plentiful. It made my birthday very enjoyable indeed. I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and attention

The Fox and Hounds at Blidworth is a busy pub. There good reason for that - everyone loves it. A great feature is the large garden overlooking the countryside, serving the same exclent beer and food as provided inside.

Very busy Sunday.managed to fit us in. Lovely sunday dinner. Well worth the money. Will be back.

Highly recommend eating at the Fox and Hound. Great selection on the menu. I personally recommend the pork belly bite starter and poached haddock. All fresh and tasty. Generous portion sizes.

Eight of us ate at 6.30 on a Saturday night. It was busy we only had mains. My wife had fish and chips and I had steak and ale pie with creamy Stilton inside. Both were delicious and for once at eating out there was plenty of chips. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. The only two minuses were a pint of Carling was £5 and we were right next to a door and the draught from it was freezing. We saw the puddings coming out and they also looked to be generous portions. The cornflake tart looked good. Staff were very pleasant and we will definitely visit again.

Family gathering of eight, all of us thought it was good. Decent portion, nice staff. Didn't have a pudding but they looked delicious. Pint of Carling was £5, a little too much. Very good and will definitely visit again.

Myself and all my family went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely village pub and the staff were really lovely. The food, well, all I can say is "Wow" It was the best meal out I have had for a very long time. The quality and quantity was amazing. I cannot praise the chef more. The Korean bbq belly pork bites were mouthwatering. Please don't hesitate to go there, I guarantee you won't be Disappointed, I wasn't.

Really like this place and always have great service and food. It's a bit of a trek, but it's worth it. We've tried a few things in the menu but tend to go for the Home cooked pie, but everything that comes out of the kitchen, looks amazing.

My wife and I had not been here before as it's a little off the beaten track. The food, service, beer and atmosphere were all excellent despite it being very busy after Christmas and the portion sizes were huge. Make sure you take an appetite and a doggy bag!

Went for lunch with family, absolutely lovely pub. Staff super friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely excellent. Could do with slightly better communication between the kitchen and front of house staff as to what they don't have in, us and the tables around us all ordered things that actually the kitchen didn't have. That said it was dealt with professionally and fast, will most certainly be back.

proper British food… If you’re looking for authentic British cuisine, Fox and Hounds is the place to go… Their pies and fish & chips are absolutely delicious, and they serve it with the charm of a true British pub. The beer selection is excellent, and the staff are awesome…super friendly, cwelcoming. The atmosphere makes it a great spot for both dinner or just a few beers with friends. Highly recommended if you want a cozy, authentic British dining experience..

Lovely meal, considering we were a large family party(25). The staff were friendly professional and all meals were delivered on time and to the right people. I personally had the festive pie which I could highly recommend but all food was warm well presented and the portion size are definitely on the generous side. Will definitely visit again.

Went last night and had the Cajun Salmon, which was delicious. My partner had the mix grill, he said the pulled pork was to die for. The portions are huge. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Slightly iver priced but shall definitely return.

Always a superb dining experience; the very best in 'pub grub', locally sourced produce, home cooked and skillfully presented without pretention. The menu is comprehensive and options for diverse dietary requirements are catered for. The staff are friendly and attentive and the establishment is very obviously well managed.

The food and atmosphere was excellent also the service was second to none. Will definitely go again in the future.

Most pubs nowadays seem to deliver mediocre sizes of Sunday lunches and require you to pay £5 for sides to make up the meal, but not here. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough, thank you to everyone working there for making every trip worthwhile.

Had a nice Sunday Lunch and was good value. We had the roast beef. Staff were on the ball and friendly. Our party of 10 was very happy with their meals.

Visited with our dog on a Saturday night. If you are in the area, this should be top of your list. The staff are helpful and attentive, the landlady ensures all customers are looked after and the chef delivers excellent food. Portions are large and the quality is first rate. To top things off there is a good choice of beer. Fantastic place.

Booked for 5 persons 4pm Thursday 24th October, being all over 60 was dissapointed when very noisey children and family was sat close by. Staff very attentative to that table but no ours. On first entering Service for drinks good, however, I had to ask to order food. Food great and plentiful. NO STAFF CAME TO ASK IF EVERYTHING OK WIYH FOOD OR IF MORE DRINKS REQUIRED. We would have ordered another round but the 4 staff at the bar seemed too occupied ? Not with customer service. Although bad service today 😕 great food and hopefully call back when better staff on duty. Never been dissapointed before, this was a bad day 😔 second drink at home

This place was banging. Booked for a Friday night which was good as it was so busy. Go with a big appetite as thr portions are great for someone like me with a big appetite. Will definitely be coming back

One of the best kept secrets in Mansfield. A huge thank you to all the staff for hosting a Ruby Wedding anniversary. Your staff and chefs are a credit to the pub. We visited for a family birthday meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The Sunday dinner was beautiful and fresh and the pies were also a real treat with proper home cooked chips. All staff were lovely and helpful and they were really accommodating letting us bring a birthday cake and sorting the candles etc…. Thank you for a fantastic meal. We will be back.

High quality ingredients and big portions Excellent

Arrived. Asked if dogs were allowed in. They pointed me to where we needed to be with the dog. Orderd drinks, sat down, chatting away. Landlady come up and said you can't sit there . " its reserved for people eating" nothing on table saying reserved? I felt she was very abrupt and only wanted people in who were eating to maximise her profits. Nothing polite about her tone. Upset my wife and we had to move outside. To say we will never go back there, is an understatement. Not unless change of ownership.

We finished a recent UK holiday with a trip to the Fox & Hound for a meal and catch-up with friends. A standout was the meals. I don't think anything that came out was small in serving size and all were well plated. The proof is in the eating, which didn't disappoint as all of our group loves their meals and some neighbouring tables we got chatting to, also enjoyed theirs. I ordered the Haddock & Chips...I was delivered a portion of fish that could have been mistaken for a whale it was so bloody big. Beer was cold and there are quite a few offerings to choose from. Well worth the visit.

I’ve been here a handfuls of times now, ordered food every time, and it’s always been an excellent experience. I’ve tried a few things on the menu, the meatballs and date pudding are divine! The portions are very generous and I can never eat all of the main meal, but the staff are always beyond accommodating to box it up for us, on our last visit the waiter even boxed it up with fresh gravy and veg! What great service. I think one of the best pubs I’ve visited.

A special first date spoilt by poor food and poor service. Starters were good but main courses very poor snd no staff follow up, Steak overcooked, mashed potato arrived late and was cold, chicken breast was overcooked and very dry. We both left most of our main course. As regular visitor to the F&H this was very disappointing

Some friends invited us out for an evening meal, and we were happy to agree when we knew we were going to the Fox & Hounds. We’ve had a few meals here over the years, and for the most part, they’ve been quite good. This was no exception. The pâté starter was very pleasant, very meaty, slightly spicy, but very enjoyable. For mains, I ordered the mixed grill, but minus any vegetable products, this came exactly as I hoped it would everything cooked perfectly, and just as I liked it. The only issue was that some of my foods food, still made it onto my plate. Obviously, I removed the grass product and placed it in a napkin away from my meat feast. Definitely recommend this place for an evening meal

This pub is quite local to us, so we have been before, but we were very disappointed. To start of with, cutlery wasn't very clean. The food wasn't up to usual standard, the salmon was dry, mushy peas didn't look appetising, staff were inattentive, no-one came to check everything was okay and we had to ask for the plates to be cleared. The pub was not busy, the staff were busy chatting at the bar. Overpriced for what we had. Do not intend to visit again in the near future.

Myself and my partner went for a meal here last night. The food was fantastic and the staff were pleasant would highly recommend. Liver pate starter x2 Lasagna with fries Gammon and chips.
